Good morning from Shropshire where rain is forecast all day.

Another day spent at the hospital with mum.She is very cross she can’t come home and when she realised we were going home she closed her eyes and wouldn’t look at us.

Today my brother will visit and we will have a day at home catching up with housework and relaxing. We have realised we can’t go to the hospital everyday. It is a long way for all of us to travel so I have made a rota of everyone who will visit so mum will have visitors everyday.

Tonight I am going to an evening with Ann Cleeves with DD1.She is being interviewed by Steph McGovern.

My thoughts are with all of you with a mountain to climb at the moment 🙏🏻

Take care all and have the best day possible🦩

Good morning from a damp Bristol. It has rained lightly since lunchtime yesterday.
My hour-long filling is great though expensive. I then walked to the GP surgery to establish when I could have actually a COVID jab. I’ve been sent a blizzard of conflicting emails and texts and information from the surgery. It’s both being unable to attend the clinic and the RSV jab…. It’s been resolved and I have an appointment.
While there I overheard another (rather aggressive ) receptionist refusing to make an appointment for 6 weeks time. Apparently, it’s because of “no shows due to forgetting”, only allowed a 10 day window. The onus is now on you to remember to make this appointment and to telephone at 8am to join the scramble. The poor man was being very reasonable, but this job’s worth receptionist was standing her ground. All very sad.
A bus into town took me to the Apple Store to fix my iPhone. Once given an appointment, I had excellent, charming and courteous service. Problem fixed.
The rest of the day was quiet. Today will be much the same.
It was quite chilly, but I’m resisting turning the heating on; it’s not controllable being night storage heaters.
Hope today is kind to you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Malta where it is looking like another lovely day beginning.

I’m just having a coffee before going to look after the boys again. They were both good as gold yesterday but littlest was really very unwell and just wanted to be cuddled. How I hate to see them ill.

Apparently DD3 has been up with him five times during the night, she will be exhausted bless her, and has to face a new class of 22 little ones who will be starting school today.

I was just leaving the petrol station yesterday when I saw a friend who asked if I had time for a quick coffee so it was nice to have a chat. I then realised I had a large wet patch on my chest where littlest had drooled whilst sleeping on me! Most embarrassing! 🤦🏼‍♀️

Susan I’m sorry to hear about your mum. Brings back memories of my own mum. It was just my sister and I doing the visiting and my poor sister had terminal cancer at the time.

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Good morning from wet s somerset

Good news re banking fraud, from the 7th oct it is mandatory that they refund all scams within 7 days. I don`t know if it is retrospective but worth looking into GM

I am loving my new knitting, fingers crossed that it will be a nice fit, it might well be finished for the cold weather. I restricted my knitting time yesterday and managed to get some more sewing done, my dress will be finished by monday. It looks stunning on my dressform, I really hope it fits me too

I am going into town later, either shopping for a birthday card, or for a bit of exercise or I might do two trips as my walking pace is different for both plus I wear different clothes for the exercise walk and don`t take a bag

Otherwise a pottering day, bits of cleaning and bits of meal prep and tidying

Have a good day

Good morning from a drizzly Torbay.

Susan56: please take care of yourself during this difficult time. Devising a rota for visitors to your Mum is a really good idea.

Yesterday’s talk about Richard III was disappointing. The speaker was obviously steeped in knowledge about his subject and has written songs about the monarch’s life but he was not inspiring in his delivery and the songs weren’t wonderful either. Apart from that…..!

DH is travelling here today but has already encountered a problem as his local train to Paris has been cancelled, necessitating a journey to Le Mans to pick up a fast train to Paris. I just hope all the connections work so that he can reach Gare du Nord in time for his booked Euro* train.

I hope today is kind to everyone. 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩

Sar53 Thu 26-Sept-24 06:19:06

Good morning from another beautiful day in Kos. We were going on a trip to Bodrum but DH doesn't feel too good so will be staying put today.
I'm sorry to hear about your mum Susan, such a worry for you all. I've been in that situation and it's very tough xx
Well here's to another day relaxing and reading.
I hope you all have a good day, best wishes xx

grandMattie Thu 26-Sept-24 06:24:31

It’s a really good idea to have a visiting rota,*susan*, otherwise it takes over your life. Be prepared for your mother to be very unkind, she doesn’t mean it,
What a shame the talk was uninteresting, Ash. Have you read the book “the daughter of time* about Richard? It’s very old but interesting. Hope your DH’s journey is easy.

RosesandLilac Thu 26-Sept-24 06:54:34

Good morning from deepest Somerset where I am languishing in an old country house on the second day of my art break, heading home this afternoon.
It’s a fascinating place, obviously very well loved and as a group of lovely ladies we’ve thoroughly enjoying ourselves. I do hope more breaks are held here.
I do feel for you Susan, it’s a horrible situation. Sending you a hug 🤗
Off home later, back to normality 😊

Mizuna Thu 26-Sept-24 07:09:31

Good morning from a drizzly Cornwall. My daughter arrived back in Liverpool by 9 last night, with tins and boxes of banana cake I had made for her plus three pairs of mended trousers. My son and I went to Wetherspoons for lunch lugging his guitar (after the guitar shop endorsed the renovation, yay!) then sat in the sun at the window of a pasty shop drinking coffee and putting the world to rights. Lovely to spend time with him. Today I'll rebuild my flat and put back the trip hazard bits and bobs I moved for my daughter's stay. Plus a visit to the police station which I couldn't fit in yesterday.

luluaugust Thu 26-Sept-24 07:12:21

Good morning from a damp W Kent. All packed up and ready to go for a week in Norfolk, more rain I fear. It takes us both so long to pack up now but hopefully a good change of scene.
Susan glad you have got a rota going
Yes The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey well worth a read for Richard 111 fans
Best wishes to all

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 26-Sept-24 07:12:27

Morning all from a damp looking West Oxfordshire.

It is our monthly book group today. We meet for lunch in the village coffee shop and talk about books! This month’s theme is books set in another country. I will talk about The First Circle by Solzeneitisn (sp) and McCarthy’s Bar by Pete McCarthy, and maybe The Boy in Striped Pyjamas. We will also talk about books we have read recently,

I’m sorry to hear about your mum, Susan. It must be all so difficult.🌹

Redcar Thu 26-Sept-24 07:13:18

Good morning everyone from a wet mid Essex, we have a weather warning for heavy rain until 9.00 tomorrow morning!
Yesterday I walked to the pharmacy to collect my prescription meds, the waiting room in the surgery next door was standing room only so I guess the flu jabs have started! I have mine booked for next week, along with the rsv jab, with Covid the week after!
I’m sorry to hear about your mother susan, a good idea to have a rota for hospital visiting. ash I hope your DH arrives safely. A shame that the talk about Richard 111 wasn’t more interesting.
Electrician coming today to sort out my flickering light upstairs and put new lighting in the garage.
Best wishes for a good day for us all.

Gingster Thu 26-Sept-24 07:31:20

Good morning all and it isn’t raining …yet!

Yesterday I had a call from Dd saying one of her twin boys has had an accident at work. A pile of pallets had fallen on him and thought he’d broken his hip. Poor DD was at another hospital for a check up and had to get a bus and a long walk to get to him. I was awol! 🙄. Upshot is the hip was dislocated and popped back in place, a scan and he came home late last evening. Always something isn’t there!!!.

Today Dh and I are meeting my two brothers for lunch. I’m looking forward to seeing how db2 is after his heart bypass.

Susan 💐.

Take care all.🌻🍁

brook2704 Thu 26-Sept-24 07:32:07

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a dry and bright start to the day
The visiting rota sounds better Susan, such a difficult time for you all
I’m off to DD2s this morning, we’ll have a chat and I’ll help her with a few jobs. Her house move isn’t progressing as it should and I think she’s feeling a bit down in the dumps about it. We’ll do the school pick up later and I think DGD is coming back here for a sleepover
Hoping your DH makes his connections ok Ash and he’s with you again very soon
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Thu 26-Sept-24 07:35:17

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire.

I am helping on a Carer Learning course this afternoon having also helped on a similar zoom course last night. It's very confusing as one is on week 3 this week and the other on week 2.

Sainsbury's delivery at teatime time.

We have booked our covid jabs on line. It was really easy.

Grandmabatty Thu 26-Sept-24 07:37:31

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and wet. Not a promising start. Susan I sympathise with you. My mum is no longer engaging with visitors and spends her time sleeping or with her eyes shut. A rota is a good idea. Ash fingers crossed that your dh catches his train.
Yesterday I was productive and managed to achieve a lot. I spent a considerable time in the garden deadheading and sweeping and weeding. I'm glad I did because the weather changed overnight.
Today I'm meeting a couple of art friends for lunch. We are meeting at a lovely wee Italian restaurant in Bridge of Allan. I'm sure Scapa will know it! We will sit blethering for a while I'm sure. Have a good day all.

Georgesgran Thu 26-Sept-24 07:45:45

Good morning from a dreary Durham. It’s been raining since 5pm last night. Everywhere is sopping wet.
I have a free day and was looking forward to a bit of hacking and lopping in the garden, but that’s a non-starter.
Perhaps I should do my tax return and get that out of the way.
Best wishes to all. X

baubles Thu 26-Sept-24 07:51:14

Good morning from wet South Lanarkshire.

I woke up a couple of times feeling cold, time for a heavier duvet I think.

Yesterday was glorious, we went to the Degas exhibition which was very good. The museum is situated in a beautiful country park which was bathed in autumnal light. Photo of Heilan Coos.

Thinking of you both Susan and Grandmabatty, we had a rota when we weee in the same situation with DH’s mum, it helped.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 26-Sept-24 07:54:15

Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga. Being an hour ahead here is a strange construct (thanks to Franco). It’s dark here till 7:45am and then it’s like a switch is flicked and sun’s up! Apparently Spain should be the same time zone as Portugal (and the UK). Hey ho.

We chose not to go out last night and just read our books on the balcony in companiable silence with Radio Málaga on in the background. Lovely and we slept like tops.

Gorgeous sunshine here now. I’m drinking my second mug of tea, Himself is cleaning the windows on the balcony (he’s always been a busy 🐝 and wants to do them before the sun comes round). We might have a walk up to the Carrefour and a coffee in La Canasta (chain). So long since Himself has had enough energy to even contemplate this. Gardens this afternoon. Cesar tells us the pools will close on the last day of September. Earlier than usual (by a month). The Andalusian government has decreed water saving measures. Fair enough.

harrigran Thu 26-Sept-24 07:59:03

Good morning from the NE where we have heavy rain.
I have had an email telling me to book my covid and flu vaccination, I am having the RSV one soon so don't want them too close together.
Another quiet day with no visitors.
Have the best day you can.

GrannySomerset Thu 26-Sept-24 08:05:28

Up and showered early because the hair dresser is due at 9.00 am and the U3A book group at 10.30 so I have to be ahead of myself. The early sunshine is vanishing behind the increasingly heavy cloud so the promised rain looks inevitable.

Thoughts with the travellers, the holiday makers and the carers especially Susan. Life does ask a lot of us at times.

cornergran Thu 26-Sept-24 08:06:34

Morning Mick, morning All. Dry at the moment, rain on its way with a yellow weather warning in force until tomorrow.

Yesterday was domestic day, a thorough clean of every room. Very satisfying. Pottering today, see how the day goes.

Worrying news about a friend yesterday. It seems the message that she was clear of cancer was inaccurate, several lesions found in her liver. It’s uncertain if any treatment can be offered. She was so distressed on the phone. We’ll be in regular contact, I can listen at least, she’s too far away for a visit and a hug

A relief to know family are sharing the load with your Mum susan , a very sad situation. Hard for you too grandmab, look after yourselves.

Hope the trains work for your husband ash, 🤞 here. Could do with some of that sun FGT, delighted you’re having such a special time.

Breakfast time here. Hope Thursday is gentle with us all.

Greyduster Thu 26-Sept-24 08:20:39

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s been raining steadily here most of the night I think and isn’t forecast to stop. It’s cold too. So no walking group for me this morning and it means I won’t get to see DD either. I shall be doing some batch cooking for the freezer instead. Writers group at the library was very jolly yesterday but we didn't get much writing done!
Have the best day you can, folks.

Jaxjacky Thu 26-Sept-24 08:21:57

Morning from a still soggy S Hants, hefty showers yesterday, more due later. I’ve had a disturbed night coughing/sore throat, grandchild germs!
It’s very hard Susan you have my sympathy, enjoy this evening, I read a lot of her books.
Happy holiday lulu I hope the weather improves.
I had a taster at WI last night where the talk was from a Tai Chi instructor and we had 15 minutes of instruction. Today is chiropractor and washing.
