Absolutely love fennel, freshly cooked beetroot and asparagus, preferably the white variety which seems very hard to come by in UK.

I like most other veg, but can’t stand courgette.

Oreo Mon 30-Sept-24 22:44:56

Love: carrots, potatoes and turnips/swedes ā¤ļø

Hate: celery, broccoli and courgettes 🤬

MayBee70 Mon 30-Sept-24 22:50:03

I can never understand why I like courgettes so much as they don’t taste much of anything and the texture ( or rather lack of it) leaves a lot to be desired. But I love them.

My neighbour was going away for a while and gave me a bag of cherry tomatoes ( the ones that are a bit long and thin?) and they were so sweet I couldn’t stop eating them. I don’t usually like tomatoes.

I like most vegetables so it's easier to think of ones I don't like!

1) Parsnips
2) Swede
3) That thing that tastes of aniseed (is it Fennel)?

Maybe a throwback to school dinners. But I do remember hating finding what looked like a roast potato was actually a sweet and soggy parsnip as a child.

Favourites:

1) Brussell sprouts - especially fresh from a sprout stick.
2) White Cabbage tossed in butter and black pepper (don't have it often as I hate chopping cabbage and no one else will eat it)
3) Spring greens - also done in butter and black pepper.

Nice that I’m not the only one who doesn’t like celery! I can eat it but I have never managed to like it. My family like it so it isn’t hereditary. Not so bad if it is cooked.

Like or am happy to eat all vegetables with the exception of aubergines and those small white turnips (described because I know some people refer to the orange vegetable I call swede as turnip) My favourites vary with season, so I couldn't possibly choose just 3 grin Tonight alongside a roast gammon I'll serve a roasted vegetable mix....celeriac, parsnip, potato, butternut squash and onions, with a side of carrot and swede mash. Love them all!

I’d love to come to your house for dinner Rosie. Love all vegetables, especially carrot and swede mash šŸ˜‹

I like carrot and turnip either cooked or raw beetroots the same and cabbage. I eat tomatoes like grapes with sea salt fennel celery and celeriac raw. Not mad about cauliflower or aubergines unless disguised in a sauce I have to be in the mood for broccoli. I grow beans of every description I usually preserve them as chutneys.
I love mushrooms but cooked especially with butter and garlic. I eat peppers raw so full of goodness I could not live without onions garlic and chilli.

HiPpyChick57 Tue 01-Oct-24 12:03:27

I love all veg but if I really had to choose I’d say potatoes cooked in any way shape or form.
Sprouts and cabbage.
Least fave is broad beans but I have been known to eat a few of they’re on my plate.

I wonder why so many dislike aubergines?

Can someone tell us please?

I like them, and I tend to use them in Turkish or Greek recipes. I think they're often overcooked, or cooked badly and that's what puts people off - mind you, the same could be said for a lot of vegetables. Aubergines do tend to absorb a lot of oil, so sometimes they can end up very greasy or mushy. Maybe that's why some people don't like them.
