Favourites: Swedes, cabbage, potatoes

Least favourites: beetroot (just the thought of it makes me shudder)
Cauliflower - love the taste but it doesn't like me
Can't think of a third. Prepared well, they are all delicious.

Favourites: freshly grown early peas! tomatoes, fresh runner beans. ( If tomatoes don't count because they are technically a fruit then potatoes). These are all things my late father used to grow and are still favourites.
Least favourite: parsnip, broad beans (the skins) tough greens. I like veg so even my least favourite are enjoyed at times. I also dislike the smell of beetroot cooking- I didn't much like beetroot as a child but of course had to eat it!

Like or am happy to eat all vegetables with the exception of aubergines and those small white turnips (described because I know some people refer to the orange vegetable I call swede as turnip) My favourites vary with season, so I couldn't possibly choose just 3 grin Tonight alongside a roast gammon I'll serve a roasted vegetable mix....celeriac, parsnip, potato, butternut squash and onions, with a side of carrot and swede mash. Love them all!

I like most vegetables, but my three favourites would probably be carrots, mushrooms and asparagus. Mostly, it depends how veg has been cooked - I'm not a fan of overcooked, mushy veg. My least favourites would be celery, okra and globe artichokes.

Fresh beetroot

vampirequeen Mon 30-Sept-24 15:39:19

I love carrots, parsnips and peas.

I hate aubergine, courgettes and celeriac.

Casdon Mon 30-Sept-24 15:43:49

My favourites are asparagus, French beans and sprouts.
I abhor cucumber, with its uniquely slimy crunchy texture. Otherwise I’m not fussed on swede or turnips, but I’d eat them in soup where the other vegetables disguise the taste.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 30-Sept-24 15:44:21

Favourite:
Aubergine
Courgette
Carrots

Least favourite:
Beetroot
White cabbage
Swede (orange turnip!)

NotSpaghetti Mon 30-Sept-24 15:44:33

I don't really have a favourite - and I haven't yet found a vegetable that I don't like.
I don't even have a least favourite.

Some I hate the time it takes to prepare them though.... broad beans spring to mind - and Jerusalem artichokes.

Not a fan of endless fiddly prep.

NotSpaghetti Mon 30-Sept-24 15:50:05

Off message (sorry) but does anyone know where I can get chicory please? Not the white pointy sort, I'm missing the green leafy one such as you can easily buy in Italy . Maybe bitter turnip tops would do... thanks!

I haven't space to grow them and we have had to give up our allotment.

foxie48 Mon 30-Sept-24 15:52:03

I love vegetables especially when they are home grown and fresh out of the garden eg French beans and broad beans which I never buy, I pod my broad beans, blanch to remove the skin and they are so sweet! I also love English asparagus which is grown locally. I'm not fond of swede or turnips and not a fan of cauliflower if it's boiled but love it roasted with lots of spices.

That would be a Scot saying a turnip (by others described as a Swede) as a turnip. That's what Scots know is a turnip grin. You definitely need a turnip on Burns night for the haggis and tatties but then the turnips are called neeps smile. My three faves are peas, carrots, potatoes. My ones I don't like so much are aubergine and actually I can't think of another one

tanith Mon 30-Sept-24 16:22:21

MissAdventure Mon 30-Sept-24 16:51:37

I doubt I've had all the different veg there are, yet.

So far, cauliflower, tomatoes (they're a fruit, I think, anyway) and good old peasa are favourites, but I do love cabbage.

Carrots leave me cold, although I will eat them.

I dislike celeriac, aubergines, and artichokes.
