Good Morning Everyone,
Dark but dry at the moment here in brackley this morning.
I seem to have a bit of cold due weather changes .
With a Wiltshire Farms delivery due , I may go to Bicester later .
Did my first smart meter reading ,and submitted it , my usage as before but a more accurate reading.
Take Care,
Mick

White rabbits🐇🐇🐇 from Bristol. It’s dark and cool, but as yet still dry.
Yesterday, I helped briefly at the church toddler group. I had prepared an activity for them. Most children found it boring, but one little girl was hooked and was at the craft table the whole time I was there! The resulting “fruit” Will be added to the Harvest display on Sunday.
A huge Tesco shop ensued; my larder was bare as I hadn’t shopped for nearly a month. Many of the shelves were empty, especially the fresh fruit and veg, but also various groceries.
The afternoon was quiet - I did some sewing, made a batch of FGT2 SOAP dish for the freezer…
Out of the blue, I received a mail from my “lodger”. I had her for 4 months at the end of 2022 after she had an upper leg amputation. She ignored me until now, nearly two years later. I was very hurt. I don’t know whether to respond or not. I think I’ll leave it for a while.
I’ve got outside tai-chi today, if it isn’t too cold or wet. I need to rest as tomorrow is going to be full on.
Have a good day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a very windy day in Kos.
We had our catamaran trip to Bodrun yesterday, it was windy and the sea was quite rough.
We had an enjoyable few hours wandering around the 'designer' shops and bought a couple of things.
We arrived back at the hotel about 6'sh. DH was unwell so I spent the evening chatting to a couple from Grimsby in the bar.
A lazy day today.
Best wishes to all xx

Good morning from Belfast. Yesterday we had heavy rain was supposed to go to Sainsbury's but stayed indoors I baked a apple cake and started reading a new book.
This morning is our church group. This afternoon I have an appointment with podiatrist.
Sainsbury's will have to wait I will rustle up something from the freezer.
Have a good day everyone.

Bellasnana Tue 01-Oct-24 06:04:50

Good morning from Malta where another bright day is dawning.

I remember your ‘lodger’ grandMattie, hard to think it’s two years ago. If I were you I’d be very wary of her as she sounds like a user and may have re-established contact because she wants something.

Had a good day with the boys who both, very obligingly, took a nap just at the right time for me to watch Alcaraz playing his match! I am hoping for a similar scenario today but not holding my breath!😄

I’m off to look after them when I’ve drunk my coffee.

Glad you enjoyed your trip ‘Sar’. Did you spot any ‘genuine fake watches’! I laughed when I saw the signs for them in Turkey!😂

Hope you all have a good day.☀️

Grandmabatty Tue 01-Oct-24 06:20:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° and dry. GrandMattie I tend to think the same as Bellasnana. She could be after something.
Yesterday the weather ended up dreich so no outside playing for Dgs2. He was mostly good. He's dropped his nap and the day was long(for both of us). I was very tired by night time and had an early night.
Today will be a rerun of yesterday minus playgroup. Have a good day all

grandMattie Tue 01-Oct-24 06:21:42

Exactly, Bellas. I shall take my time and be careful in the extreme - I’m very susceptible to emotional blackmail.
She was very demanding and rather infantile. She was a psychologist before becoming a priest. Curiously, she was one of the most pessimistic people I have ever come across.
Having been widowed two months earlier, I still had to support her emotionally for those months. Sadly, my “Good Samaritan” action wore me out…

karmalady Tue 01-Oct-24 06:33:56

Good morning from s somerset, it might be mainly dry today, not inspiring but dry (ish)

I was very busy yesterday, some mending, some making, some tidying. It all adds up

Out for a walk by 9, I always meet lots of people with the same purpose, an hello and a cheery smile, it sets us up for the day, as does the exercise

Soup making later and I will be making more undies, already cut out from unused nighties. The weight is very slowly shedding from me, I will never again be slim but I have gone down an undie size. I made three yesterday and three more to be made today, very pretty too and a good lot of money saved

I am not planning anything this week, I love evolving days, it is very mindful and definitely living in the moment

Have a good day

cornergran Tue 01-Oct-24 06:42:35

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, damp corner of Somerset.

Travelled home from an enjoyable few days with good friends, we stayed in a hotel together. After the first dreadful night I thankfully slept well. A good break

Total contrast today, off to the eye hospital for the first of two appointments this week, 90 minutes to two hours each way. I’m cautiously optimistic, there just may finally be a diagnosis by the end of the week. It feels as if I’ve been shunted from clinic to clinic, so far with no outcome although I appreciate the care it has been frustrating and a little worrying.

Sadly I agree with you and others grandmattie, please be more than wary. I remember how debilitating your last encounter was. Time to think about yourself.

With thoughts to all managing challenges. Hope Monday is kind to us all.

mum2three Tue 01-Oct-24 06:58:40

Yesterday it rained all day but this morning looks dry here in Lancashire. I have some things to take to a charity shop so need to go out.

RosesandLilac Tue 01-Oct-24 07:05:25

Good morning from dull, cold and damp south Glos, rain yet again is forecast today.
Definitely very wise to be ultra cautious grandMattie, I remember the dreadful behaviour you had to endure.
A very pleasant day yesterday, not doing much but enjoying just doing needlework and ‘going with the flow’ as my friend would say.
Today an early Ocado delivery, I need to tidy the freezer and sort out something for lunch. DH has a hospital appointment so he won’t be here - I quite fancy a jacket potato and salad.
Take care everyone 🌹

Susan56 Tue 01-Oct-24 07:11:17

Good morning from Shropshire where a dry day is forecast🥳

Yesterday it rained all day.The photo is just down the lane from my daughters house.SIL took the children to school in the tractor. The owner of the vehicle in the picture was sitting on the roof of his car and was rescued by the fire service.

Today is my DD2’s birthday. She has EDS but doesn’t let it define her.I am so proud of her and all she has achieved.

Yesterday was a busy day with admin.Today we will go and see mum.

Grandmabatty I am glad the guardianship is moving along. It has been such a long time getting sorted.

grandMattie I agree with others re your lodger.I remember at the time how demanding she was.

Wishing everyone the best day possible🦩

GrannyGravy13 Tue 01-Oct-24 07:17:10

Morning all, not sure what the weather has in store today?

Had a lovely lunch and catch up with friends yesterday, it was only when I was half way home I realised I hadn’t paid. Fortunately it was our friends Tea Shop, I shall pay my debt later in the week 🙀

I intend to sort out the the guest rooms wardrobes today, they have been used as a dumping ground whilst the work was being carried out.

Hope your DH is feeling better Sar53 so you can enjoy Kos together.

🙋‍♀️

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s raining again, and is forecast to be wet most of the day. Obviously windy during the night as there are garden chairs on their backs on the patio. I think I’d better put them away 😢.
A quiet day yesterday, too wet to go for my usual walk, but went to the post office in the afternoon while it was dry.
I hope themarydolls had a happy anniversary yesterday.
Nothing planned for this morning but will visit my friend with dementia this afternoon.
Hope today is good for 3veryone.

Ashcombe Tue 01-Oct-24 07:21:06

Good morning from a dry and peaceful Torbay; we arrived home safely after an uneventful rail journey. It would have been a different story if we’d travelled on the Sunday when two trains were stuck at Dawlish due to heavy seas making them inoperable.

As others have advised, grandMattie, I wouldn’t feel inclined to reply to that person. Keep her guessing as to your whereabouts and state of health. I remember how challenging she was as a houseguest.

I hope all goes well at the eye clinic, cornergran. Today, I have an appointment for an injection in my ring finger to ease arthritic swelling. My wedding ring had to be cut off several months ago.

Wishing you all the best of days. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 01-Oct-24 07:29:51

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. Autumn has definitely set in!

I remember your lodger GM. Be very wary!

It is the WI coffee morning in the village coffee shop. It is usually fun and is a chance to chat to ladies who I don’t know very well.

After lunch I will pop round to see an old friend who isn’t particularly well. OH will go to the gunsmith to collect a gun he has had fixed. I think on the way back he will call on his bees.

While he’s at his shooting club this evening I will catch up on two V&A Art History lectures which I would have missed this morning. I’m not sure when I’ll watch the Bake Off - maybe tomorrow.

I ordered a wooden shoe holder for the hall which I think will be delivered today. It’s strange, but lots of houses are like the Tardis and are bigger inside than out. Our detached house looks quite big from outside but once inside, the rooms are all slightly too small! Just one of those observations.

Have a good day everyone.

Gingster Tue 01-Oct-24 07:34:00

Good morning and it’s dark but not raining yet, here in Essex.

Ditto Bellasnanna and others, re your lodger ‘friend’. She’s after something! Be very careful., Grandmattie. 🙏.

Yesterday’s chimes rehearsal was tricky. Instead of a fun packed morning, we were trying for perfection (concerts at Christmas), and making life difficult for ourselves. Poor teacher was trying her best but it all became too much. This is only a U3A group which we regard as a lighthearted pastime. It really doesn’t matter .

Today I have Bridge club this afternoon.

Susan that poor man in the flood. Thank goodness he was rescued.

Take care all 🌻🍁

luluaugust Tue 01-Oct-24 07:36:37

Good morning from another wet day in N Norfolk perhaps not the best break we have had here, however, we got out and about yesterday and had a feet up afternoon reading. Today we have decided to have lunch out and break up the day.
Happy birthday to your DD Susan
All the best for the eye clinic Ash and for your finger Cornergran
I should keep quiet gM

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 01-Oct-24 07:40:31

Good morning everyone from sunny Málaga. We found it cooler in the night so we are going to put our duvets on the beds for tonight. It’s feeling autumnal now - but only in the wee small hours as yet!

1st October eh? It’s my stepfather’s birthday today he’s 92y. Still self caring but nearly all of his peer group have died now and he can find life lonely especially when we are away. Which makes me feel a bit guilty but I think Himself’s needs come first right now.

Oh too much analysis first thing in a morning it’s not good for my little brain.

It’s ‘Ladies Who Wine’ this afternoon. There will be 4 of us today - two residents and 2 holidaymakers as the couple from Bolton are out too at present - she went last week as well. It’s always a laugh, sometimes a few tears as we have all know each other since we started the group 10 years ago this month. It’s a tonic to spend time together that’s for sure. We put the world to rights and support one another too in times of need. It’s what we do. 🍷😊

brook2704 Tue 01-Oct-24 07:46:15

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s grey and drizzling
Hoping all goes well with your eye appointments corner and you get a successful outcome
We’re off out later for a drive down by Loch Ness, we’ll stop for a walk somewhere and a coffee. I’m not really getting back into the gym routine, I don’t know why so I feel that the least I can to do is to go for a walk!
Happy Birthday to your DD2 Susan your stepfather *FGT and everyone else celebrating today! 🎉🥂💐
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

NannyJan53 Tue 01-Oct-24 07:47:33

Good morning from yet another rainy day in the Black Country. Will it ever end?

Was supposed to meet up with my Aunt and cousin for lunch today with Mum. Cousin rang yesterday saying best to cancel as she didn't feel well, and suspected it may be Covid! Was sending her DH out to buy a test.

So I will still go over to Mums, take her food shopping and go out for lunch just the two of us. I am trying to get her to agree to have Meals On Wheels, perhaps twice a week. It is £5.50 to have a hot meal delivered with a dessert. She was adamant that she didn't want it, but seems to be slowly coming round to the idea. At the moment she lives mainly on sandwiches.

I too would be very wary gM of replying to your lodger 'friend'. I would say she is after something.

Wishing you all a safe and dry day

Greyduster Tue 01-Oct-24 07:48:15

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Another wet day in South Yorkshire. We had an unbelievable amount of heavy rain yesterday - it never let up and I didn’t go outside. A robin in the bird bath was enjoying himself hugely though. I shifted a mountain of paperwork and paid my car tax, finished a book and loafed away the rest of the day. School volunteering this afternoon - if the rain slows down I shall walk there.
Have the best day you can folks.

kittylester Tue 01-Oct-24 07:54:55

Good morning all from a sodden North Leicestershire.

Choir this morning - it's raining so hard I may drive.

And tea and cake with 3 other gners this afternoon. Can't wait.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Marydoll Tue 01-Oct-24 08:08:09

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 11°C.

Thank all for your anniversary wishes yesterday. You are all so thoughtful.
We had a very quiet day, I was struggling with that ( insert naughty word) cough. It's not just the cough, it's the fever and chest pain, which accompany it.
Eating in public would have been so embarrassing, so we had takeaway, which I enjoyed. The evening finished off by watching the last episode of The Night Sleeper, accompanied by a glass of fizz.

Today DH has a telephone appointment about his hearing loss. That should be fun, he is unable follow a telephone conversation. He hasn't spoken to a GP in over thirty years and says I have used up all his NHS allocation, as well as my own.!!
A script has been provided for him, he cannot be trusted.😉

I have a mammogram this afternoon, which I am not looking forward to. I find them excrutiating, due to my RA, shoulder joint problems.
However, a necessary evil to be endured, due to my history of cysts.

GM, do not be sucked back in by that woman. After two years of silence, she must have an ulterior motive.

I wish you all the best day possible, especially those carrying a heavy burden, whether it be illness or family worries. 💐.

Taichinan Tue 01-Oct-24 08:13:52

Good morning everyone. It's a bit breezy here on the Angus coast, with broken cloud. But at least it is broken! There is no rain forecast and the washing will be ready to hang out before I go to tai chi.
I haven't read the posts yet, but did stop at the photo of that flood near your daughter's, Susan. - how awful!! Our weather is becoming so unpredictable and extreme and quite scary.
I also noticed your former lodger has been in touch grandmattie. I remember her well and how selfish, 'needy' and ungrateful she was. I too suspect her motives. Be wary!
DGD3 asked if she could come up for a visit after uni on Thursday. I think the demands of their uni courses and the need to earn some money at weekends is coming between her and her boyfriend and that romance is cooling. I think she's feeling lonely - but I hope I'm wrong. Oh dear, that part of being a teenager is something I don't envy! Anyway it will, as always, be lovely to see her.
DS1 sent me a gorgeous little video yesterday of my great great grandson. At only 10 months old he is turning into a real little livewire. In the video he was demonstrating over and over again his newfound new move of diving from sitting to crawling position and scurrying across the floor. Apparently he can also climb up on the settee via the pouffe and bounce around up there. Heaven help everyone once he starts walking!
Anyway off I must trot and get today's show on the road. I hope all goes well for everyone today - I'll be back to read the posts later.
