Sorry I'm a bit late to the new kitchen launch party but I have brought some sweet treats of chocolate brownies, jam filled doughnuts and white chocolate chip cookies- mini sausage rolls also for those who prefer savoury.
The newest kitchen looks lovely as usual Soop, I dont know how you do it, each time its better than the previous one
I'm not feeling my usual cheery self- child 1's relationship is going south and there are children involved...whats that saying about only being as happy as your offspring? Can't remember it properly but it's very apt for us at the moment
.
Oh well the sun is shining and for that I am grateful.

Soop's kitchen for kind and caring folk...
(1001 Posts)Welcome!
Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.
Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.
Enjoy!
I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later.
mamas I was just fancying sausage rolls! I'm sorry you are feeling down. It's not something you can change either.
Mamaa! Sorry for the thick finger typing
I have not been in the kitchen for far too long. This is lovely and cosy. I have brought gluten free cheese straws as I was thinking about the lady who used to post and moved into a sheltered residence with her husband. My local cafe serves gluten free, delicious, moist, lemon drizzle cake. (That is a lot of adjectives.) I. have snaffled their recipe and brought the first batch to try on you all.
I have prepared the spare room for a visitor, rather sulkily I am afraid, as she has announced her arrival, train booked before checking with me.
Having spent an hour clearing leaves and dead heading, I am about to watch some tennis and have a coffee.
Best wishes to all.
Standing outside the window with my mask. Mr C has kindly shared covid. Guess inevitable really as he would insist on breathing.
. Feel sort of weird is the only way to sum it up. Not so unwell but not well either. I’ve whizzed about and done all the niggly things that were being put off until the tomorrow that never comes. Also re-booked vaccinations. I can now be unwell with a clear conscience. Off to watch tv from under a warm blanket. TOYA.
Evening all, it’s Saturday already 🤷♀️
I am on the sofa, watching strictly snuggled under a blankie. DH is cooking, (Piri Piri prawns followed by chicken Marsala, sauté potatoes and courgette)
Had flu jab this morning, I told the pharmacist I had a bug from the GC and he was happy to go ahead anyway. Then realised that I couldn’t roll up my sleeve, so tried to demurely slip my arm out without exposing myself, no chance he just laughed and said I was t the first 🤣🤣🤣
cornergran Oh dear, I hope you only have a mild dose 🌺
Enjoy your evening,
Oh dear corner a friend of ours has had it for four days and he feels fine, let’s hope you’re not too bad and it’s brief, how is Mrc?
Dropped my daughter and car to the mechanic and she’s taken mine, won’t get it back until Monday 🙁not that I particularly need it, but…
Beef and veg in Guinness in the slow cooker, MrJ has just put the mash on, we’ll have cauli and cabbage with it.
Oh Cornergran lots of fluids, paracetamol and rest.
I've just had a wee mini steak pie from Tesco, boiled potatoes and the remains of the cauliflower cheese. It was very nice. I managed to get the housework done and I'm going to have an early night. I'm watching Cool Hand Luke starring Paul Newman. It's one of my favourite films
Good evening everyone.
corner hope you’re not too poorly with Covid.gg13 I hope you don’t suffer too much from the flu jab.
I had my flu jab this morning, now have a sore arm and shoulder and feel quite tired. I came home then went to my neighbour’s to sit with his wife (my friend with dementia) while he went to have his flu jab.
Did a little gardening after lunch. Also did a load of washing which dried outside. Now have to iron it all - a task for tomorrow.
Have a peaceful evening everyone.
Hello kitchen people.
Well, I went to bed at 8.30 pm. I ache all over and feel exhausted. I had my flu and Covid jabs yesterday and feel grim. OH is fine!
Have a good evening.
DH and I have both had our flu and Covid jags on Thursday. Annoyingly he seems fine but I was a bit iffy yesterday and I have a lump and a red itchy area on both arms. Had a headache yesterday but just a background one today. It is odd how it affects people in different ways! Good you are eating a bit more Grandmabatty. I suppose it was inevitable Cornergran hope that it is mild at least you are all stocked up. Lovely new kitchen Soop always a warm welcoming place to spend time.
‘Evening All’.
We’ve had another good day in the sunshine. It’s incredibly hot for October! We had a wander around Arroyo. Very busy full of Saturday shoppers using their many independent shops - florists, fishmongers, butchers, bakeries. Didn’t notice a candlestick makers though.
I like wandering around the side streets where the locals live. See pic.
Good evening all.
Just back from my friend’s with whom I have a monthly Chinese takeaway.
It was a nice evening and we set the world to rights or at least our tiny corner of it.
Last evening I went to a very good gastro pub with my friend across the road and we had a delicious meal.
So good that she booked to take her family there on Sunday for her GD’s birthday.
I had my flu jab this morning, no side effect whatsoever, I was offered the Covid one but decided to have that another time, just being cautious there.
Sleep well everyone and kindest thought to poorlies and their devoted carers.
I am creeping in....I blinked and a new kitchen opened ...another safe space for us all to share our fears and joys. I feel very blessed to have this sanctuary where there is no rancour or judgement just live and support. Thank you Soop.
I've put some warm croissants and home made jam on the side. Hello to lots of new names ( to me) who have joined us or who sit quietly in the corner.
I've got to go back to Surrey for work next week and we are going in Henrietta Moho. We are only taking the two smaller Dogs and hope it will work out better than previous trips. I am looking forward to catching up with friends from in some cases School days and others as a new Mum in Kent. It transformed my life joining the St Gerard Majella group ...it was for Mothers of Catholic children ( he is the patron saint of expectant mothers) and met fortnightly for discussion on a variety of topics and tea and cake and deep and lasting friendships endured even when one of them emigrated to OZ. My neck and shoulders are still playing up...I seem to have a small lump on the bone that runs up to my head .. Not sure if that's the problem and it's causing the pain and dull headache but I hope it goes away soon.
Granmarie...I love Scottish morning rolls..not always easy to find down South ...
Corner.and GG and Grandmabatty..husbands are like children and grandchildren in their generosity in sharing their bugs with us. D2 passed on a virus that mimicked meningitis to me that resulted in ME that lasted 2 years...there are still gaps in my memory for the years 1985-7. Get well soon.
FGT2.... It's lovely reading about each day in your special place...a slow pace of life doing just what makes you both happy.
Usedtobeblonde....a gastro pub and a Chinese...no cooking for two days...good on you.
Jax...I hope too that the pub opens up again too...is it being sold?
Feelingmy age... I'd be really miffed if a friend did that to me...a bit presumptuous to assume you would actually be at home!!!!
Redcar...I hope the knee settles down soon....I do understand the doing too much though...it's a relief to be able to do all the things you couldn't pre op isn't it?
Yia and SueD... Thinking of you both and praying that your DHs are getting the very best of treatment and sending you both a gentle hug of support.
I never thought I'd write this but DH and I are off to the gym this morning...I already go but he has a guest pass today....he wants to give up vaping ( and I want him to as well) so he's going to get back to his fitness regime...he used to play rugby and lacrosse and cycle regularly. I suspect this afternoon will see us crashed out on the sofas unable to move. Have a lovely Sunday everyone.
A lovely new welcoming kitchen, thankyou Soop, this is my refuge, you are ALL so kind and caring. I will sit in the quiet corner for a while.
I hope those of you who are struggling with what life throws at you find a little peace......
I wonder how Yia is getting along?
I'm at my son's childminding, they are away for the weekend. I must admit I've found it a bit too much as I've this rotten cough/cold and just want to be in my own bed!!
Take care and love to you all. 🌹🌹
Sunday greetings to all our Kitcheners.
The Harvest Festival supper was a joyful event. Entertainment provided by some talented villagers. We particularly enjoyed a rowdy rendition of Old MacDonald Had A Farm. Our group represented the dog. The "woof woofs" were deafening. I carried on singing the tune when I went to bed.
An early start tomorrow. Glasgow hospital appointment for me regarding the massive parastomal hernia. I am not thinking that there will be a cure. However, it is a day out and we'll meet with Baggs which will be a bonus.
For all our Granspals enjoying the peace of the quiet corner, I am sending my love. You are very important people.
Your Harvest Festival supper sounds to have been very enjoyable, soop.
I hope your appointment goes as well as it can tomorrow, it will be good to meet with Baggs, a bonus indeed.
Warmest thoughts for all. x
Hello everyone, I’ve not been very well the last few months. Very tired and vision problems make internet use tricky. Just wanted to say Hi and wish you all the best.
Sending love for tomorrow Soop💐💐
All the best for tomorrow Soop. I hope something can be done to help you. Blossoming 💐. It is good to hear from you. Hellogirl I've made more soup today, I'm sorry to say. Butternut squash, sweet potato and ginger. It's soothing and warming and will do me nicely for a few days with some in the freezer. I visited mum this afternoon but she wasn't interested in chatting. She was very interested in the lady in the bed beside her's visitors though! I'm tired and having a rest before making chorizo and gnocchi in tomato sauce. Enjoy your evening Kitcheners. BrookI hope you were taken somewhere nice
Hello Blossoming. I hope you feel brighter soon.
Such lovely (oops, will I get told off for using the word lovely? Substitute a synonym of one’s choice if required!)
) days. Thank you for the photos.
Enjoy Cambridge, Brook.
I hope your time with family was fun, Granmarie.
That’s so sad, Mamaa. I’m sure you can offer much support as they work through this.
That pesky Covid, Cirnergran. I think we’ve all had enough of it now.
Lots of people in the Kitchen having jabs - take it easy, all of you, with cakes and your beverage of choice. Mine are due in late November.
It’s enjoyable to spend time with good friends, isn’t it, UTBB? I had most of the day with my best friend yesterday and it’s life-affirming to have good company.
Thank you for your thoughts, Neine. We’re still awaiting tests after almost five weeks so no treatment has even begun yet.
Hope you get a rest soon, NannyG!
I don’t go to church nowadays but I used to love the harvest festivals, Soop. Now we have a son-in-law who farms I see exactly how much work goes into providing for our tables.
We’re about to head off for GS’s third birthday celebrations. Well, one of - this is his third or fourth excitement of the day! He is such a cutie (I would say that, wouldn’t I?) and I’m sure we’ll be smothered with cuddles and hugs. But hopefully no germs. 🦠
TOYA. Xxx
Hi all, that’s sounds hard Blossoming so good of you to post ❤️
Enjoy the birthday SueD 3 a lovely age, oops, I said lovely!
Good luck tomorrow soop and have a great meet up with Baggs
Not sold neine it’s leasehold and needs a new tenant, I won the last prize in the last meat draw which included a free drink!
Today’s best news for us is that Imogen has a weekend job waitressing, she sorted it all out herself and had a trial today, she’s slowly challenging her autism, we’re very proud.
Chicken in the oven, must get on.
Granmarie not many of us know what a square sausage is made of- I do miss them as well as rolls. They are not the same in London.
corner I suppose it was inevitable and with luck because you have had all of the jabs it will be a mild version. Enjoy the rest. I would tell Mr C to be a bit more choosy in future re his sharing.
soop I do hope you can be helped tomorrow but as you said you are meeting up with Baggs so it will be a pleasant day out and hopefully it will stay dry.
Hello everyone.
soop I hope that tomorrow’s appointment goes well and that some help is possible. Enjoy your your meeting with baggs.
jax well done to Imogen for getting herself a job, that’s very brave of her.
neine my knee is still being a nuisance, I’m sitting with my feet up, with a cold wet flannel on my knee, as instructed by the practice nurse! It doesn’t seem to be doing any positive though!
DD1 and family came this morning, read the meters for me and emptied the little cupboard of its stash of tins and jars. Only 4 were out of date (by several years!), so have been disposed of. The rest are back in the cupboard in date order.
Had my usual Sunday late afternoon phone call with my friend in Kent. It’s a regular one hour weekly catch up, but could probably go on longer!
I hope the evening is peaceful for us all.
‘Evening All’.
We are just back up from dinner (and a cocktail for me) on the marina. Blimey, it was busy! So many of us holidaymakers down there!
Out and about today I took a pic of this plant.
Glorious (as well as lovely!) isn’t it? No idea what is is but when I saw it spilling over a residential wall I had to stop and take a photo.
Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow soop. You deserve a plan of action to bring some much needed respite I imagine. Say ‘hi’ to Baggs. 👋
