Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. It's very cold and frosty here, app says minus 4 overnight and a bright but very cold day tomorrow. I have another funeral to attend in the morning, DS2's friend's Dad. Very sad.

Hellogirl, thinking of you. I hope you hear from the coroner soon. Meanwhile, be gentle with yourself, try to rest and nourish yourself.

Hello 👋 Doodle, hope you're doing OK.

Sounds like a pleasant afternoon with your friend, Cornergran, I hope you slept well after all that walking in the fresh air.

Nannytopsy, I like the sound of your committee meeting, very hospitable!

Neine, ages and stages I think, ages and stages... I hope you got some sleep.

I think your garlic will be getting frosted soon Jaxjacky. I pulled out the last of the summer bedding that had been killed by the frost last week, I'm left with heathers , hellebores and some brave dianthus and hardy primulas. Even the winter pansies look a bit wabbit. I might treat myself to some cyclamen at the weekend.

Grandmabatty, glad to hear that you are more comfortable today, and that you're being well checked out. Sorry to hear that your wee grandson has chicken pox, i hope he recovers quickly. Take care.

Safe journey to your Cambridge family brook, enjoy your DGD's birthday celebrations!

My usual Wednesday, Mass and Coffee Morning with my friend, a good turnout this morning, and a raffle! We didn't win anything though... The Christmas decorations and tree are up in the church hall, the Christmas parties for Rainbows, Brownies etc are next week, as is our very festive final Coffee Morning of the year. Its the same day as the Glasgow Grans meet up, so I'll be very busy !

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep. Thinking of the Soops and all in the quiet corner.
TOYA, NNGB.

‘Evening All’.

We’ve been out to a nice restaurant this evening a deux. Only local. Bit more pricey for two than our usual places at £103 (main courses only) but I did have my favourite cocktail - a pornstar martini and a large glass of red wine with my steak so can’t complain. A Christmas tree and warm twinkling lights added to the cosiness. It was then great to be able to go out for a stroll afterwards - it’s so mild tonight - and walk our dinner off.

Grannmarie Wed 27-Nov-24 22:02:37

Crossed posts, Redcar, good to hear from you. Your daughters are looking after you well. Sounds like you are becoming more and more mobile, well done!

Grannmarie Wed 27-Nov-24 22:04:42

Hello 👋 FGT, sounds like a lovely romantic evening for you and Himself. 💕

cornergran Wed 27-Nov-24 23:15:28

Sounds a super evening FGT. We’d not be wandering here, below freezing and feels it.

Pleased things are improving grandmab. Don’t overdo it though.

Safe trip to you both brook. Sounds a fun weekend ahead.

A sad day for you tomorrow granmarie. I hope it goes as well as these things can.

Happy to share my mantra with you neine, maturity brings challenges - a new one every year. Hang on to that sense of humour.

I did sleep well last night which is probably why I’m wide awake now. Half the Christmas cards were written today, took me ages as I sat with memories of each person. On to sausage roll making tomorrow. There will be more produced before Christmas as with friends staying for five days and family visiting replenishment will be needed. It’s the only real cooking I do at Christmas so I’ll not mind.

Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.

Hello kitchen people.

I’ve been reading most of the day - the book for tomorrow’s Book group. It’s about the Shakespeare and Company Book Shop in Paris. I will finish it in the morning.

I had a break to make Toad in the Hole for dinner. I also listened to an excellent talk on the history of the Thames in London.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Late good morning greetings to you lovely lot. How busy you have been.

Mr Soop's scalp is a gruesome sight. The nurse photographed it. I cannot share with you because it would distress you. He takes regular pain killers and antibiotics. This is a long-term project.

I had my hair cut yesterday. As usual, I am totally delighted by the transformation. Mr Soop remarked on how much younger I look. Pity the body doesn't follow suit. I like your mantra corner.hmm

Hellogirl We said our usual greeting to your dear David just yesterday. We trust that you are being comforted during this terribly sad time.

I am not too far away. Our new kitchen is being prepared for the opening buffet. smile

Nannytopsy Thu 28-Nov-24 13:15:58

Poor MrS - I hope he is feeling the benefit of all the best wishes and hugs the kitchen ladies are sending.
It’s a beautiful winter day here in Suffolk and really cold. It was my morning on the charity cafe, so I was out early. £70 taken which will go to the Salvation Army for their Christmas appeal. I think they will get both November’s and December’s takings.
WI and church jobs to do, so I will love you and leave you.

Jaxjacky Thu 28-Nov-24 16:53:23

Hi all, chilly day, first day of a new class to improve balance and strength at 9:30am! Cardio, stretching with bands and balance, it was eye opening. Rest of the day has been housework - yawn - then some TV catch up.
I hope you haven’t worn that carpet out Redcar!
Poor Mrsoop that sounds so painful.
Safe journey tomorrow brook is this your last trip pre Christmas?
Your meal sounds delightful FGT note to self..
Heavy frost this morning Grannmarie I’ve a few parsnips in too, should make them sweeter.
My daughter will be calling in this evening while Finley has football training.

‘Evening All’.

A lovely sunny day here in south Manchester. Himself met up with a couple of ex-colleagues for coffee today and he said he thoroughly enjoyed chatting about times past on the factory floor. I had my ‘flu jab and bought myself a handbag from a new shop that’s opened round the corner. Watching L’il Miss swimming this evening has been cancelled as she’s developed a cough. Sliced roast beef and potato salad from the larder tonight. £7 to feed both of us. Different to last night! 😁

Hellogirl1 Thu 28-Nov-24 17:54:41

Thank you Soop, it`s comforting to know that there`s someone up there to say hello to David for us. I hope that Mr Soop isn`t suffering too much discomfort.
I heard from the coroner`s office yesterday. The hospital haven`t been able to pinpoint a cause of death, so Lynne is being transferred to the coroner at Peterborough hospital for a post mortem, something we`d hoped could be avoided. They say we should hear from them early next week.

brook2704 Thu 28-Nov-24 18:04:10

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s only been about about 1° all day here in Inverness so very white and frosty still
Thank you all for your kind wishes, all being well we should arrive in Cambridge early afternoon tomorrow. Jax, I’m squeezing in another trip the weekend just before Christmas to play Santa, so really looking forward to that too 🧑‍🎄
Sorry to hear about Mr Soops scalp soop I hope it can heal itself over time and gradually gets better
Gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner, take care all ❤️

brook2704 Thu 28-Nov-24 18:05:18

Hellogirl ❤️ so difficult for you, I hope you get some answers soon x

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 28-Nov-24 18:33:43

Hello kitchen people.

I do hope Mr Soop’s head isn’t too uncomfortable,

It was my Book Group today. We met at the village cafe at lunch time. My beef bap was delicious - so was the coffee cake.

I have been taking delivery of various parcels this afternoon. At some point I’ll have to wrap everything up!

OH is cooking chicken curry for dinner. Later we’ll watch the next episode of the Jackal and I might catch up with the Portrait painting programme.

I can’t really buy any more handbags, FGT2. OH bought me a beautiful one for my 70th last year. I have bought a small clutch bag, but that’s different, especially as it’s bright pink on one side and leopard print on the other.

Have a good evening

Charleygirl5 Thu 28-Nov-24 21:51:15

Mr Soop's head sounds so painful. I hope the antibiotics and painkillers are working.

It has been sunny but very cold here today. I am not a fan of minus temperatures and it is still November.

I appear to wash for my local area, I have no idea where it comes from.

Hellogirl that was something you wanted Lynne to avoid. Please look after yourself but I am aware that is difficult.

Nannytopsy Thu 28-Nov-24 21:54:36

LLFL we had chicken curry too, with a cauliflower and mushroom curry on the side but no rice. A very low carb meal!

soop Thu 28-Nov-24 22:10:47

Hellogirl I feel for you as you continue to wait for answers. My love to you and your family.

soop Thu 28-Nov-24 22:11:58

We are very close to opening our new kitchen. I shall try to do so before I retire to my bed.

soop Thu 28-Nov-24 22:18:27

Mr Soop has to return to the local hospital tomorrow morning. His dressing need changing and must be to done in a sterile setting. Photographs are taken each time the dressing is removed. These are then forwarded to the surgeon in Glasgow.

gillgran Thu 28-Nov-24 22:18:38

Sending good wishes for MrSoop, we're all thinking of him as his scalp heals.

Enjoy your DGS's Birthday celebrations brook in our lovely Cambridge. We are going there the next weekend to visit our DD & family.

Thinking of all in this friendly kitchen, especially those with extra troubles.
Hellogirl flowers

soop Thu 28-Nov-24 22:19:41

We've been watching the snooker. We find it relaxing and entertaining in equal measure.

soop Thu 28-Nov-24 22:22:06

gillgran Thank you for your kind words.

Charleygirl5 Thu 28-Nov-24 22:22:23

We are close to moving soop.

Charleygirl5 Thu 28-Nov-24 22:23:13

It may be easier to do it now

Lins872 Thu 28-Nov-24 22:23:15
