Welcome!

Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.

Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.

Enjoy!

I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later. flowers

Good afternoon kitchen pals, it’s stayed cloudy but quite mild and dry all day here in Inverness
Thank you for the coffee cake redcar, just what’s needed with a cuppa this afternoon
Thank you for explaining about the bees 🐝 neine - interesting
One of my pals talked me into going to a line dancing class this afternoon so that’s where I’ve been ! Lots of laughter and turning one way when everyone turned the other but good fun and a bit different. I’m not sure if it’s something I’d go back to but will see …
Hope the dentist has gone ok today corner I’ve got the hygienist on Thursday
I remember the tantrums well gbatty and redcar I’ve been on the receiving end of lots of those. These days though it tends to be slammed doors, sulks and having to be asked to do something 20 times … I could go on ! Little angels that they are … 🤣

‘Evening All’. We enjoyed another good day. I count them nowadays, never taking any of them for granted. They are very precious.

We are sat enjoying a cuppa with biscuits on our balcony. At this time of year when it gets (slightly) chilly in the evenings I’m so glad Himself suggested these folding windows that turn this area into a cosy space with the little lamp on the table. I just looked up and saw this sweet sliver of new moon. I had to take a photo.

I’ve been out with my Ladies Who Wine today. I sit here now drinking my tea, feeling thoughtful and unsettled, as health concerns for two of the friends who live out here were shared. Tests and investigations are planned for them and for one lady in particular - slim, fit and strong in her mid 70s - I find I am particularly concerned.

Good evening everyone. Cloudy again today, it’s getting monotonous now!
I had a blood test this afternoon, DD1 took me, which was kind of her, she was supposed to be working from home! Her dog went mad when I arrived and got tangled up in my handbag, trying to get at the treats and dog biscuit that she could smell in there! Then she sat on the sofa next to me and licked me - good thing I have to use an antibacterial wash for 5 days before my operation!
I had asked an electrician to come and check my smoke detector which went off at 6.30 on Sunday morning for no reason, naturally he came this afternoon while I was out! Hopefully he’ll come again tomorrow when I’m in!
I also popped in to see my friend with dementia, she was awake and talking a lot, sadly none of it intelligible.
brook I used to go line dancing, it was great fun and really good exercise, we probably spent more time laughing than dancing.
Have a peaceful evening everyone, thoughts for all those in the quiet corner.
Night night.

Hello everyone. The dentist survived this morning 😂. A filling is needed, as his surgery is up a very steep flight of stairs causing us both to struggle the receptionist offered to find him a downstairs room next time. The dentist preferred to pass me on to a colleague with a permanent downstairs room. The receptionist was more than helpful and very kind. She totally understood my issues and booked me with a dentist who specialises in anxious patients. If we get on well Mr C and I can both be transferred to this new dentists NHS list. I floated out of that surgery today. Such a relief. Two weeks before the filling

We took yet more bags to a charity shop, had coffee and after visiting a couple of shops thought we deserved some lunch. Now, why was I worried about today. 😂.

Our granddaughters both majored in tantrums at one point in their young lives. It can be an exhausting time for sure grandmab and redcar. Of course it passes - eventually - we were just relieved we had survived. Now? They are kind, caring teenagers.

I went line dancing - once - neine. It was fun and would have been even more fun if I could tell right from left. Not a skill I possess.

Time for feet up here. Have a good evening everyone. TOYA.

Hello kitchen people.

I enjoyed two Art History lectures from the V&A this morning. They have excellent tutors.

After lunch I popped round to see an old friend. I think we’ve known each other for forty years. We heard of another friend who moved away a few years ago, who has terminal cancer. It’s always difficult to hear this sort of news.

I’m now waiting to watch the Bake-off in about 20 minutes so I can fast forward the adverts. Milo the cat is curled up next to me simultaneously snoring and purring.

Have a good evening.

More kitchen drawers cleaned out and reorganised! @smug gran 😊
Only two left and they just need a quick clean, not major decluttering! I love my pan drawers!
WI committee here this afternoon - very straightforward and no difficult decisions! The bank has finally accepted that we are the WI, not a terrorist organisation or money launderers, and has changed the cheque signatories. It has only taken 2 years!!!

Jaxjacky Tue 05-Nov-24 20:30:27

Welcome to Grannyme6 sorry, I missed your post yesterday 👋👋
What a busy kitchen, lovely - result corner, a happy visit to the scary place 🙂
How interesting neine I like 🐝 🐝 anyway.
I’ve line danced just the once brook not really for me, too regimented!!
I remember when my parents started hearing of poorly friends and those who didn’t survive, now I’m getting to a similar age 🌹
Our local is having a quick three day refurb, before the big one in January, we’ve been running down a large flask of coffee for S every morning as the fancy pants machine isn’t in yet. It means I get a good nosy at the same time 🤥
My cold is now the odd sneeze and a cough belonging to a 40 a day smoker - it will pass.

brook2704 Tue 05-Nov-24 22:58:48

Hope your cold has gone soon Jax and you’re feeling better. Good idea to take the coffee down so you can get a nosey and check it’s all up to scratch 👍

Sounds like a good outcome from the dentist corner , well done

It is a huge pleasure for me to pop into the kitchen and catch up with all your happenings. My word, you are a bithee, bithee lot.

Mr Soop is preparing for his forthcoming surgery. I shall miss him more than I can say.
Our friends and neighbours have kindly offered to keep me company. It is at times like this that our family, living some great distance away, would be happy to be teleported. smile

Anyway, as so many of our Kitcheners are doing, we shall lift our chins, puff out our chests and soldier on. Thank you all for being an inspiration.

Good afternoon everyone. Another grey day here, not a breath of wind, a real November day.
I’m trying to keep busy, so filled a bin bag with empty plastic flower pots this morning, there are still loads in the shed. They will go for recycling on Friday.
I have a new smoke detector now, the electrician and I think the problem was caused by a small insect inside it. Hopefully this one won’t go off at 6.30 am.
Spent the rest of the day changing the bed and tidying up.
soop I hope mr soop’s surgery goes well and he’ll soon be home with you again.
nannytopsy would you like to come and declutter my kitchen drawers? Please? They are all full with every gadget that Lakeland sell, and I’m finding it hard to get rid of any of them!
Thinking of all who have anxieties or who are struggling.

brook2704 Wed 06-Nov-24 16:57:07

Hoping all goes really well for Mr Soop and like redcar says, he’s home with you again very soon
I’m just back home after an enjoyable but busy day, I did the Zumba class at the gym, then coffee with my pal, a walk into town through the Ness Islands and then home on the bus 🚌 I enjoyed the Zumba class, it’s ages since I’ve been but it’s a good workout and was definitely needed
Hoping everyone in the quiet corner is doing ok today, sending ❤️

‘Evening All’

We’ve not had any sunshine today in Málaga. Never mind, it’s been very mild and dry, no wind. The palm trees are still. We went out for a little stroll earlier just to stretch our legs. Radio Málaga is playing in the background and it will soon be time to switch on a lamp or two. We’ve eaten early and now plan an evening of book reading in companiable silence.

The building’s exterior is being painted. This netting from the 10th floor down greeted me when I opened the door late this morning.

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Nov-24 18:06:17

So the grey cloud has come to visit FGT there wasn’t a swap of some sun for here!
A not done much day, chased some drugs from one pharmacy to another, eventually tracking some down, phew!
Fuelled up my car, went for a walk and planted some tulip bulbs in a trough, we’re out to eat tonight with vouchers we won a while ago in a charity raffle.
What wonderful neighbours soop soon be done and dusted x

NannyG4 Wed 06-Nov-24 18:39:31

Soop…….my best wishes for your DH with his surgery. I hope it’s not long before he is safely back with you.🙏.

Just having a quiet moment here in the kitchen……love, prayers and strength to ALL of you lovely ladies…..

cornergran Wed 06-Nov-24 19:02:12

Chatting to the development gardener today we agreed the grey and damp isn’t pleasant but does have the advantage of keeping temperatures in the mild range. Less heating is a bonus. The gardeners will do a private job for us in a few weeks. Something we’d have done ourselves a few years ago. Now? Much more sensible to pay their reasonable charges. Mr C shouldn’t be heaving heavy bags of slate around and far better to leave wriggling under and behind the magnolia tree to younger folk. Common sense has finally arrived grin.

Chores were completed this morning before a relatively painless steroid injection in a knee this afternoon with the bonus of advice about my strangely shaped left hand. A gift from osteoarthritis. Tea and cake in a large garden centre which happened to be on our way home made for a pleasant afternoon.

All the luck in the world for mr soop and his procedure. I think sometimes hospital stays are harder on the person left at home especially if visiting isn’t possible. The patient knows they are safe and well looked after, the loved one at home carries the worry. Your friends care will be priceless soop as will distant support from your wonderful family.

Scones, cream and jam waiting for me. Best not to keep them waiting for too long grin.

Wishing you all a relaxed evening and a peaceful night.

Yiayia4 Wed 06-Nov-24 19:22:02

YiaYia4 my condolences.

🙋‍♀️

Grannmarie Wed 06-Nov-24 20:26:46

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Dear Soop, I'm thinking of you and your lovely man, wishing him the best possible outcome for his forthcoming procedure. Of course you will miss him greatly, but you will be surrounded by love and support, in real life and virtually, until you are happily reunited. 💕🙏

Redcar, wishing you all the very best for your surgery on Friday, you sound very well organised and your DD will take great care of you.

Thinking of everyone facing appointments and hospital stays. I have my long awaited Cardiology appointment tomorrow!

Cornergran, your post made me feel so happy for you and MrC, your relief was palpable! I could feel your anxiety melting away, you couldn't have wished for a better solution.

Sorry to hear about your friend's diagnosis, Ladyleftfieldlover, very sad.

My condolences, YiaYia, so hard to lose such a dear friend. Thinking of you both.

My DH recently lost a good friend from his working days and it has quite shaken him. Just the other day I thought to myself, I must ask my friend M. about something when I next see her, then I felt bereft again when I remembered that she died earlier this year.
One of the hard things about reaching this stage in our lives is to witness the decline and loss of loved ones.

My usual Wednesday, I took my friend to Mass and Coffee Morning, then did some birthday shopping for another friend. The shops are full of Christmas cards and gifts, I'm not quite ready for Christmas shopping yet! I popped in to visit my sister and her granddaughter on my way home. The Wee Lady is a veritable ray of sunshine, such a smiley, happy wee girl. She can say my name now and she loves a sing song and a story. Lifts my spirits. 🥰

Wishing everyone a peaceful Wednesday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.
