WORD ASSOCIATION - 9th May 2026
Welcome!
Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.
Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.
Enjoy!
I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later.
Good luck with the appointments Mr & Mrs Soop hope all goes well.
Hoping all the appointments go well for Mr &Mrs Soop this week ❤️
Popping out of the quiet corner to wish the Soops uneventful travelling, lovely fish and chips and some good treatment plans.
Hello kitchen people and especially the Soops. I hope all goes well with your hospital appointments. At least they’re all grouped together so you won’t be back and forth.
My house is slick and span after the Cleaner’s visit. I was out all afternoon visiting my friend while OH sterilized over 100 jars ready for filling them with honey tomorrow.
Have a good evening.
I hope all your appointments go well, soop&MrSoop. Three days in a row!
My thoughts are with you & all in this friendly kitchen. x
Well, my lovelies, this will be my last visit to our kitchen until the weekend.
Mr Soop's long awaited appointment to see the new surgeon who will remove the cancerous margins from his many scalp lesions, is for this coming Friday. The Queen Elizabeth University Hospital rang yesterday morning. This means that I have my scan in Oban tomorrow. We'll motor on to Paisley and stay in a Premier Inn. The following day, off we go to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for my breast scan. Back to the inn for a second night. On Friday we'll leave the car at the inn and travel to Mr Soop's appointment by taxi. It's a vast complex and there is always some panic when parking. After his appointment, return to the inn, have lunch and head for home. A long journey but it will have hopefully achieved something useful.
Today we've been busy doing all manner of stuff. I always like to leave the house spic and span...walking through the door after our excursions into some sense of order is a bonus.
Our good neighbour will be house-sitting, bird-feeding and generally caretaking on our behalf.
I shall now say a fond adieu and wish you all well in my absence. Take good care of yourselves and each other.

Morning Kitchen pals. So lovely to read lots and lots of upbeat news and hoping poorly husbands feel better soon. I was very jealous reading about meals out especially roasts..we did have a roast on Sunday but home cooked. Sunday was a glorious day...so warm I whipped my top off and gardened in my bra ( hussy I know but we are not overlooked and I cling to the last of the warmth on my skin). The greenhouse is now in place and between us we moved the pile of top soil which will eventually go onto the vegetable patch that's work in progress. Our lovely neighbour who comes for a dinner every week has given us a trailer full of logs . We had to unload the seasoned ones in readiness and they are now moved and stored too. We sat on the gin terrace and enjoyed the late afternoon sun and life felt good.
Welcome Carillon... I'm newish to the kitchen so we haven't met but you are obviously much loved by the wonderful caring people that Soop has gathered under her wing.
Talking of Soop and Mr Soop... Wishing you happy safe travels and good news at the hospitals too.
Is Grandmabatty ok does anyone know....?
Love to you all...I've just remembered I've booked aqua aerobics this morning so must fly.
Morning! Up early to go for DH’s leg ulcer appointment then off to the shops. We are 10 miles from town, so we tend to do everything in one trip. Today it’s new mugs, compost, manure, supermarket shop, wine and look at sofas. I promise to keep the bags of manure away from the food!
I finally started the garden clear up yesterday. The knee was still painful but those hip injections have made such a difference! Yay!!
I can’t believe we are approaching November! Where has this year gone?
Hugs to you all x
That was a long day fgt, you’re right about tea and toast. Everything crossed here for a good outcome. Hope you both slept well x
Glad you're safe home, FGTs, hoping and praying for the best possible results.
NNGB.
Hi all, been to quiz where we were saved by the last two rounds from total disgrace.
A quiet day on the phones, garden helper here too llfl similar jobs and Grannmsrie a drizzly day, washing in the kitchen plus the gentle hum of the dehumidifier.
My daughter and children have walked the four waterfalls and got very wet - rain mostly, they’re off to Barry Island tomorrow, big G& S fans.
Sleep well all, including the quiet corner.
Hello kitchen people.
Glad to hear FGS2 that you are safely home.
Our gardener came today and spent a couple of hours weeding and pruning etc. the cleaner is due tomorrow and we will then be sparkling and shiny again.
I chatted to an old friend on the phone today. She has a difficult meeting with her oncologist tomorrow. I will pop round to see her when she’s back home.
Good night everyone and sleep 💤 tight..
That’s good to hear fgt hoping with everything crossed for really good results
Good to hear you’ve got your car back grannmarie hope it behaves from now on!
‘Evening All’
We got back home half an hour ago. It’s been a long day. Himself was the last patient to be scanned. Staff were locking doors up and wiping down coffee tables as we left. I heard Himself laughing with them as he gathered his things from the locker. That’s my upbeat man I thought.
Pj’s on now, cosy in bed together enjoying tea and toast - food of the gods isn’t it when one is weary? 🤞 now for a good result in due course.
Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people, it's quiet tonight ! Aww, Soop, like the song says, 🎶 you've got a moose loose about the hoose! 🎵 Hope it departs soon.
Hello 👋 to everyone in the Quiet Corner.
I got my car back this afternoon, so glad!
I spent the morning catching up on housework and washing, it's been dull and damp here today so the washing is in the kitchen with the dehumidifier! I made a pot of chicken and rice soup from the remains of Saturday's dinner, nice for autumn lunches. Chicken pasta for dinner.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening, this is my night for the TV 📺 quizzes. Good luck with your new quiz tonight, Jaxjacky! 🤞
TOYA
Hi kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok
A tasty looking dinner there llfl, pleased you and your DH enjoyed it
A bit of an unexpected day here, DH has been feeling a bit under the weather for a few days and hadn’t told me until this morning about a red painful rash on his shin. To cut a long story short we got an out of hours GP appt, he’s been diagnosed with cellulitis and prescribed a course of antibiotics. It was really good service from the NHS, from the initial phone call to having the antibiotics in his hand was less than 4 hours. Hopefully he’ll be feeling much better soon.
Sounds like a busy happy family day FGT 😀
Hope you can easily sort out the mice Soop
Well done to Fin with the football Jax 👍 My eldest DGS plays basketball, they had a match yesterday and got thrashed - they’re quite a young inexperienced team compared to others but it’s good experience for them all
Sending ❤️ to all in the quiet corner tonight x
Hello Carillion1 I don’t think I know you or you me. Are you back from Brittany now or very soon? Anyway you’re obviously a much loved member of the kitchen, so 👋 from me too! 😁
‘Evening All’.
Your dinner looked and sounded delicious LLFL. We got home at 4pm from lunching with my stepfather. Himself had veal and roast potatoes which he said was delicious. I don’t think he’s ever had that (nor me) before. He said it tastes quite sweet. I could never bring myself to choose veal. Silly perhaps but there it is.
We are now over babysitting. Mum & dad have gone for drinks and a curry. L’il Miss excitedly tells me they are all of to ‘Cadbury World’ in the morning. 😊
Time to run her bath she informs me …. ‘C’mon grandma!’
Llfl Wow! That is a veritable feast.
Hello kitchen people.
I’m slumped on the sofa full of food. The landlord and landlady at the pub where we had lunch have one more weekend before moving to a new venue just 10 minutes away. The owners of the current pub have sold it to someone who wants to turn it into an upmarket gastro-pub, where as the landlady said, prawn cocktail will be £18 and steaks £50! Anyway, our lunch (I had beef and OH had pork) was delicious and we followed it with the lightest steamed treacle pudding and custard, which we shared. I think dinner will be a small bowl of cereal or a banana.
Welcome back * Carillion* good luck bedding back in.
Oh dear soop your peripatetic cat will be no use!
I hope you’ll both be fit to enjoy your lunch llfl 👍
Yesterday I did some mundane housework, read my paper and online filed ‘paperwork’.
MrJ is just in from watching Fin’s football team, they won 6-1, meanwhile, the hob, hood and microwave are sparkling and garlic is planted.
Off for an M&S collection later, eyes averted past the Christmas tins and goodies.
Enjoy your afternoon all ☀️here.
A warm welcome back to dear Carillion. We all wish you to remain with us lot in the kitchen.
Last evening, as we settled down to watch a favourite programme on tv, a wee mouse dashed across the room. It ran into the corner close to my chair. We set a humane trap with peanut butter to entice it to leave it's hidey hole. Mr Soop then discovered that a foldaway chair stored in what we call the engine room, had been gnawed to bits. We now understand that, in spite of having a device that emits a so-called signals that should deter rodents, the "mees" had learned to ignore it. Oh dear! We have a bigger problem than we were aware of.
Hi Carillion! Lovely to hear from you. Welcome back xx
I have learnt a thing or two tonight. Welcome back to Carlillion and hello to annsixty in her new guise. You all make entertaining reading and I look forward to your updates every night
Hello kitchen people.
I’m already in bed. I drove to a nearby supermarket and bought a bottle of red wine. I made beef bourguignon for dinner and a strawberry and raspberry crumble for pudding. OH and I watched a programme about abandoned railways. I was then exhausted. I think OH is now developing my bug!
Sleep 💤 tight.
