The lesser of two evils Grandmabatty, hope the drugs work.

Soop's kitchen for kind and caring folk...
(1001 Posts)Welcome!
Thank you for all your support, especially of late. I greatly appreciate your patience. You are truly the best.
Buffet is open. For those who enjoy a glass of bubbly, there is plenty in the chill cabinet.
Enjoy!
I must away for a wee while. I shall catch up later.
Hello kitchen people.
I’m snuggled in bed and ready to continue reading my book on the Plantagenets.
I had to go to our smaller nearby town shopping this morning. The roads to the larger nearby town are badly flooded.
I visited my friend who had a replacement hip recently. It was good to see her doing well.
I’m thinking of the Soops and others with concerns.
Sleep 💤 tight.
I haven't been in the kitchen for a while what a shock to read your sad news Hellogirl. You might have heard from the coroner now if not I hope it isn't too long before you get some answers.
Best wishes to all.
Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰 I hope Grandmabatty, Cornergran and UsedToBeBlonde have had some rest, thinking of all those with disturbed sleep. Good to hear from Neine, take care!
Grandmabatty, I wonder if your hip is inflamed and that's causing the pain? Does the area feel hot to the touch? When my knee was inflamed with OA, I couldn't take anti inflammatories cos of my medication, but my physio used a cooling gel after my exercises, and advised elevation and icing daily. It certainly helped, maybe worth a try? I can't do links but I will try to send a photo. I got it from A****n, other retailers are available!🤣
Glad to hear that your DH is feeling better, YiaYia, take care of yourself too! Sounds like the time spent with wee Oscar has done you good, wee ones can be an absolute tonic. I visited my sister and her wee granddaughter yesterday, she fair lifts my spirits.
Much milder here again, I hope brook Jaxjacky and our other green fingered Grans manage some time in the garden before the next frost. I've still got some bulbs to go in where the big tree came out, they won't plant themselves.
Dear Santa, 🎅 I would like some energy please! We've bought a couple of Christmas presents for AC, I've asked them for ideas/ links... DH keeps ordering motors online for the Wee Boy, I've told him to check with the parents first... he's,a liability!
TOYA, wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday, especially the Soops and those in our cosy Quiet Corner. 🥰
Thank you Grannmarie. Last night was awful but today I'm resting and have little pain. It doesn't feel particularly hot. I have a problem with anti inflammatory medication because it affects other medicines I already take. I've gone back to bed for a sleep. Fingers crossed tonight is better
I am not too far way. Mr Soop is having his dressings changed. The weather is calm and sunny. The sea has calmed down and is mirror-like.
We are shortly to be moving into a new kitchen. Amazing! All of you lovely lot are to thank for the lovely atmosphere which benefits those in need of solace. I could not wish for more, except for the gift of good health for all our Granspals.
Good afternoon kitchen pals, lovely to hear from you soop and hope Mr Soop is doing ok too
Hope the pain is easing a bit grandmabatty and the stronger painkillers are working well, definitely fingers crossed for a better night tonight
Hope you feel more energetic soon grannmarie although you always seem busy anyhow and do lots of things for others
I’ve just finished my online volunteering session so the kettles on and I’ll be camped on the sofa for a while!
Thinking of Hellogirl
Gentle hugs to all in the quiet corner 🥰

‘Evening All’
From a very #lazygran. I’ve done next to nothing today apart from pleasing myself and very pleasant it’s been too. 😊
Thanks to Himself who nipped down into the larder earlier, i have salmon fillets and tomatoes to bake in the oven. I will ping some mushroom rice to go with. Salmon is the least favourite meal for Himself but I assure him how healthy tonight’s meal is. He also knows he won’t have to have it again for a while!
Hi all, I’m with him FGT I know it’s good for me and I’ve tried, but yuk! Cottage pie here with veg.
Got our Christmas gammons today, one for us and one for each offspring, our friend works in a butchers and prices are about to go up.
A pleasant walk in the sun today, avoiding the shady parts, we’re on a rain warning overnight.
Hugs to the quiet kitchen and those struggling 🌹
Hello kitchen people. I love salmon FGT2! All sorts of ways and especially in Finnish soup.
I’ve had a reasonably busy day. I spent the morning listening to two lectures on Art History from the V&A. Before Covid struck, these courses were held in person at the V&A. I used to love going up to London once a week and sometimes calling in to see my granddaughter in Kew. Now, most courses are on line apart from the odd Saturday Day School - I’ve signed up to do one early next year.
I did a pile of ironing this afternoon. OH did his while I was parcelling up the Christmas presents for my relatives in Australia.
I will be watching the Bake Off final tonight and OH will watch football,
Have a good evening.
I'm glad you're feeling more comfortable today, Grandmabatty, you were wise to have a self care day. Sometimes we just have to listen to our bodies! I hope you have a restful night.
I hope MrSoop is healing nicely and his new dressings give him some comfort.
Thank you, brook and Hulahoop, for your kind wishes.
How wonderful to have your ' larder' downstairs, FGT! Salmon here tonight too.
You are well organised with your gammon, Jaxjacky! Hope your DD is settling in well to her new school.
Well done on your ironing, Ladyleftfieldlover. I've hidden mine in the cupboard under the stairs...
I'm not sure what to watch on 📺 tonight. I've finished My Brilliant Friend, sorry to reach the end of four excellent seasons. Jackal and Mirror and the Light are weekly episodes so I have to wait !!!
Thinking of Hellogirl and all with sorrow, worries or illness. Wishing everyone a peaceful Tuesday evening and a good night's sleep.
Early days I think Grannmarie thank you.
I did have a garden wander, as well as putting the mop and bucket in the greenhouse to dry! garlic is sprouting, it’ll like another frost.
Hello all. I had a call from the hospital today. They still haven`t got a cause of death for Lynne, so she is being put in the hands of the coroner. We continue to wait.
Hellogirl so sad, thinking of you and hoping the coroner can give you some answers soon x
Hellogirl so sorry you’re having to go through this extra trauma. Thinking of you
That must make a painful situation all the harder hellogirl. Can only hope for a speedy outcome from the coroner. Rest well if you can.
Thinking rest I hope those painkillers will allow some for you grandmab and mr soop is resting and recovering.
It’s been a busy day. Needed to write what my Mum would have called a letter on a stiff bit of card to our development area manager. You never know, she might respond. Then it was on to meet our friend and her partner. We began with coffee, had a wander, returned for lunch, had another wander then a cuppa before going our separate ways. A good day. The world was so put to rights we’ll not need to do it again
. Our friend seemed relaxed although understandably fretful at her situation. Confidence grew during the day when nothing dreadful happened. I totally understand how difficult it is to trust her body now.
Time to sleep. I am tired tonight. A good omen. Sleep tight everyone.
I hope everyone is sleeping well tonight. We have only just come to bed which explains why we get up so late in the mornings!
We bought our gammon today too - it is vacuum packed and will go into the freezer until nearer the time. I have to remake my Christmas sausage rolls as they were used for an impromptu drinks party last night. Let’s call it a committee meeting …
I hope Mr soop is sleeping without too much discomfort.

I'm still awake.. Waiting for the painkillers to work.. I really am a walking pain in the btm now. I used to joke that I wondered what delights the NHS would send me for my 70th having invited me to partake in my 34g's being flattened between 2 pieces of glass attached to a 2 ton machine whilst being told not to move..as if. That was for my 50th.
My 60th reached even greater delights with the gift of the lolly sticks.. I'll say no more as we've all been there.
So approaching 70 I wondered which particular part of my anatomy would come in for close scrutiny this time..well today I found out....I've been referred to audiology and the colorectal team. What can I say?.... I am still giggling
Hi all, I hope you’re feeling even more comfortable today Grandmabatty
It’s cold here, I went with a friend for a very tasty lunch and the temperature dropped while we were in there, negotiating minor flooding there and back. Heading out to WI in about an hour, I have a completed form to return, but won’t be staying, a festive singalong is not really me.
How awful for you Hellogirl I do hope they get a move on.
May the poorlies be improving and those having a difficult time find a window of respite.
Thank you Jaxjacky. I managed to sleep last night and have coped without painkillers today. I've been for blood tests, pressure taken and weighed and go back later in December for the results and a row. 😂 I've also ordered some Christmas presents to get things moving. Cards will be written tomorrow. I've had a very bland dinner of pie, chips and beans and thoroughly enjoyed it. Apparently dd thinks dgs2 has chicken pox, poor wee man. He's been off colour for a while but spots only really came out today. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Pleased to hear you’re feeling a bit better grandmabatty but sorry to hear about DGS2, I hope he’s not too poorly with chickenpox.
It’s been below freezing and frosty all day here today, I’ve had a busy day and was pleased to get home. I’m out again most of tomorrow but then we’ve a weekend away visiting DD1 and family in Cambridge. It’ll be DGS 10th birthday so we’re looking forward to sharing the celebrations with him.
Hope you escaped the singalong Jax if it’s not your thing
Thinking of everyone in the quiet corner, hope Mr&Mrs Soop are doing ok too
Pleased you’re feeling a bit better*grandmabatty*, hope you get a good sleep tonight.
One of my friends visited today, he has two afternoons a week respite care for his wife who has severe dementia, and he likes to get away from the house for a while. It was good to see him, but I think his hearing is deteriorating!
Went to DD2 for dinner this evening, DD1 is away on business and DD2 is looking after all four grandchildren tonight and will do the school runs tomorrow. DD1’s husband will be out all day tomorrow too, so DD2 will be looking after me as well as the children! To add to the chaos, the dog has developed a cough! The vet says ‘wait a few days to see if if clears on its own’
Too cold for me to go outside for a walk, so I’m wearing a groove in the hall carpet.
Night night everyone, fingers crossed for a good nights sleep for us all.
Good to hear from you Redcar pleased to hear you’re doing ok, It sounds like your DD2 is really busy but looking after everything very well!
