Good morning from a wet start to the day here on the east coast of Fife. No unusual sweats last night, I’m feeling much better today. I spent a few hrs yesterday writing letters to my friends.I’m off today to my local bank to give them a letter thanking them for all they’ve done for me these last 50+ years. (They’re closing soon ) our high street won’t have any banks. I don’t know how some folks will manage. I enjoy on line banking but many don’t, it’s a dam shame.

I’m going to buy them a tin of quality street which I’ll buy from b&ms cheaper than anywhere else.

Take care my friends there’s still a covid strain out there

Sorry past not last

27 posts already ahead of me! Either I’m late or you lot are very early birdies! The latter I think. 😊

Good morning everyone from Málaga where 31°C is forecast again today. I cannot believe just how hot October has been. I’ve just checked the BBC weather website. We have this but it breaks on Friday and Saturday with heavy rain forecast. However we will be home by then!

So another sunny day to enjoy. We have no plans. I shall just enjoy this mg of tea that’s been passed to me by Himself and read all your doings. Hope Monday is kind to us all. x

Good morning from a bright W Kent. We enjoyed GD1’s 18th birthday party. Unfortunately after my jabs on Saturday I wasn’t feeling great but a big surprise was the arrival of DGS1 who happened to be in London and came to join us. Some family members haven’t seen him for years.
Today packing ready for trip to Scotland tomorrow, just hope I can pull my case along.
Bellasnana hope the ear problem sorts itself out.
Best wishes.

Morning Mick, morning All from a dry corner of Somerset.

Difficult day yesterday. Mr C pushed himself too hard while encouraging me to rest and took a step backwards, of course I was busy telling him I felt better than I did which helped not at all . We’re a right pair, must manage better today.

Oh heck bellasnana, not what you need at any time and especially away from home. Hope it resolves quickly. Also hope your weather prediction is at least delayed karma, neither of us are in any position to be outside preparing anything. What a thoughtful thing to do bonny. I’m sure it will be appreciated.

Have the best day you can everyone, hope Monday is kind to us all.

Good morning from N Bucks where there are clear blue skies and it is gloriously sunny - showing the autumn colours at their best.
Thank you to all who expressed kind thoughts yesterday and flowersflowers - it was a reflective day at times, just sad that there is nobody to share those memories with. No Paw and sadly the “young mum” friends I made back then as you do when you are having your first baby, have all drifted away as you might expect after 51 years! I sometimes wonder about them and their “babies” though.
So, today will be Art History this afternoon and seeing the particularly nice group of ladies I have met there. I do like Mondays!
I hope Bellasnanna’s dizziness -vertigo?- eases and wish you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from a damp but brighter Black Country.

Family get together yesterday at DS's house for my birthday and his MIL whose birthday was a few days ago. DIL cooked a full roast Beef dinner, with Yorkshire Puds and practically every vegetable you can think of!

Then a pleasant few hours chatting, before we had to leave around 8pm, as it takes well over an hour to drive home.

Monday walk this morning, where they are already planning the group Christmas meal! Unfortunately they have chosen a venue which I know is not very good, so I doubt I will go. MrJ has been there with his cycling group and they were not impressed.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Good morning from a very dreich north of Scotland. It seems to have been raining all night.
I am making bramble jam this morning and have put the jars to sterilise. After that I plan to deep clean the cooker and ovens. I have tried to convince my very traditional husband to do the ovens as a “dirty” job but to no avail. He has been warned that I will not want to cook/bake for a week while they are pristine. Sandwich suppers?
Susan and Grandmabatty these are hard days for you and your mums 💐. The fear is painful.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

I feel much better today so will get up soon. Our cleaner is due this morning and our gardener after lunch.

I will do our usual Waitrose shop.

My brother sent an official invitation to his 70th birthday celebrations in February next year so I will get on with booking a flight. I will stay with my sister in Sydney most of the time. I will be going on my own as OH has given up long haul travel.

Have a good day.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk.

As the days get shorter our time in bed and sleeping seems to get longer! Another quiet day here before the pace of socialising picks up mid week. I’ve been glad of a peaceful few days doing very little since we returned from holiday to get over my nasty cold.

I don’t think I’ve had such a bad one ever and none of any kind for several years now. I suppose as one gets older, they can be more exhausting.

Hope those who are unwell feel better soon.

Now for my first cuppa and to read your posts.

ginny Mon 07-Oct-24 08:29:23

Good morning. The sun is out here in N.Bucks so hoping I can do a bit of tidying in the garden later. Lots of aches and pains this morning but hopefully they will improve. Some craftwork later
Tomorrow we will visit my brother and Sister in Law. My brother has spent most of the summer in hospital but is now home. Two hip replacements and a diagnosis of Myeloma . He is undergoing chemotherapy which he is tolerating quite well and is gradually gaining strength but a long way to go.

My thoughts with all who are poorly and wishing all a good day.

Good morning from Durham. The sky is a purple grey - I’m sure Farrow & Ball have a paint name to describe it.

Back to my routine after my visitor, so it’s coffee with a friend this morning. Another mutual friend hopes to join us, as she’s off to Tenerife tomorrow for 5 weeks.

Later, I’m having my ‘flu and Covid jabs, then I’ll shoot off to DD2’s to collect her laundry - I didn’t see either of the DDs at the weekend, as they both had plans (without me).

Sorry to hear there are aches, pains and niggles around - hope things improve. However, lots of holidays being planned and enjoyed.

Best wishes to all. X

Taichinan Mon 07-Oct-24 08:31:41

Good morning all from the Angus coast where it is grey and miserable with a smurr of rain and the SAD lamp is on. I hope the predicted tornadoes over Gloucestershire don't materialise.
I hope you start to feel a little better soon Bella. The salt mines should be interesting though
Susan such a hard time for you with your poor mum flowers

GrannyIvy Mon 07-Oct-24 08:34:40

Good morning from a bright Cambridgeshire. I’m late this morning as didn’t wake til 7.45 am. For some reason I’m sleeping much better at the moment. DD2 and 10 & 5 year old came for roast dinner yesterday. They arrived looking adorable after a photoshoot in the woods. It quickly went downhill with fighting and tears…. I hope they will be better hehaved on pick up today….
We are planning a walk at our local NT this morning. DH has his flu/covid jabs this afternoon. I’m delaying mine as have an eye procedure this week and don’t want to be unwell for this.

Susan 💐
Bellasnana 💐

Hope everyone has the best day possible 🌹

GrannySomerset Mon 07-Oct-24 08:39:33

Still not really recovered from post-immunisation/other bug which has really laid me low and added sickness to its other delights but hoping to feel better as the day goes on. Wonderful cleaner and gardener today but will content myself with letting them get on with things. Feel I must decide not to go to family funeral tomorrow because frankly feel it might be me too at this rate; and obviously don’t want to pass this on to anyone. Sorry to be such a bore! Hope the week ahead is a good one for everyone.

Taichinan Mon 07-Oct-24 08:47:07

Sorry - pressed 'send' by mistake. What a fumble fingers I am!
DS1 has kept me well-supplied with videos of nine-month-old Little Ollie over the weekend. What a little whirlwind he is - and he's not even walking yet! Fun days ahead 😁
Apart from that, nothing to report from here - all is still and quiet and even the sparrows are hunkered down in the hedges. I've no real plans for the day but I know the time will pass happily. Enjoy your days too everyone and may all the unwellness pass quickly x

grandMattie Mon 07-Oct-24 08:48:51

bellas, I have found a very helpful “hack” for dizziness and nausea. A recent discovery.
Measure two fingers down from your wrist joint, then press your thumb/fingers between the two sets of tendons. It works really well.

harrigran Mon 07-Oct-24 08:58:07

Good morning from a dry NE after heavy overnight rain.
I have awful back pain and can barely move around, I had a lazy day yesterday, maybe I should have been more industrious.
Sorry to hear you are unwell Bellasnana, sadly a lot of friends and family have returned from holiday with nasty viruses. My sister returned home on Saturday from a Moselle cruise and is really poorly. I hope you improve enough to enjoy your holiday.
DS sent me a lovely photo of GD2 and her friend at Anime cosplay, my goodness these young people are inventive, they made their own costumes.
Nothing important happening today so will take it easy.
Have a good day.

Stilllearning Mon 07-Oct-24 09:15:59

Morning from sunny South Lanarkshire. I hope that today is better for you Bellasnana, how rotten to feel so ill on holiday.

BlueSapphire, what a great experience that must have been for your DD. My husband and I visited Volterra in Tuscany once and you climbed up through caves to get from the car park to the town. There were musicians playing in them, music students I seem to remember, and it was quite lovely.

Gingster, short leg syndrome, I feel your pain!

Off this morning with DDI for a visit to StAndrews. DGD2 is starting her second year at uni there and I never made it up last year so it’ll be good to have a look round and meet some of her friends. Amazingly weather looks promising too.

Thoughts to all who are struggling just now, such a hard road Susan💐

Ziplok Mon 07-Oct-24 09:35:21

Good morning,

After a very wet evening, we are being treated to some sunshine and patches of blue sky at the moment. I hope it lasts.

Wishing all who are feeling unwell improvement as the day wears on. 💐

aggie Mon 07-Oct-24 09:45:23

Good morning from a bright damp Co Armagh, the sky is a milky blue
We are heading out shortly to wander round a department store in the next town , might do some grocery shopping in the independant shop nearbye
I foolishly suggested to our committee that our Wednesday club should make a scrap blanket to donate to a charity and now I’m lumbered with the organising of several very clever and industrious ladies into a forced labour to complete before C……s this work of Art ,
I had thought of “just “ making plenty of squares in knitting and crochet and joining them up !
Now it seems to be going to be “designed “ and colour coordinated
Where to start , I’m not buying new yarn , I’d envisaged a jolly bright blanket with lots of colour …. Sigh

aggie Mon 07-Oct-24 09:46:47

Posted too soon
Best wishes to all poorly friends! It is the season of colds and aches and pains !

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Good journey home yesterday from Warwickshire and DS and I had a look around lovely Stratford before leaving. Not much to unpack at home.
Today into town for bits and pieces.
Thoughts to Susan Bella and all with troubles 🌺

Belated birthday greetings NannyJan💐🎉

Good morning from currently bright East Lothian. We went to a harvest service yesterday and it was all the traditional hymns but I was sad not to see any farm or garden produce. There were lots of flower arrangements and DH (who is 6’1) said there were two stooks of corn at the front. I would love to have seen some tomatoes and squashes or even a pile of potatoes. They were having soup and crumble after the service but we didn’t stay but called in with DD2 and family for coffee and a chat. We found everyone very fraught as DGSs were being made to come off their games consoles and sit at the dining table to do their maths homework. Boy 1 gave in resignedly but boy 2 was being his usual stubborn self and insisted he couldn’t do it and there was no point in trying. I did feel for them all. They have been signed up with a tutor for an hour on the Sundays they are free (sailing and courses with Sea Cadets takes up a lot of their time). We left them to it and had a walk along the river to enjoy the beautiful autumn trees and ducks and moorhens splashing about. The heron must have been fishing elsewhere - I took a photo of him/her the day before.

DH spotted a Hobbs jacket in the charity shop window and wants to buy it for my birthday. I hardly wear jackets these days but I will go and try it on. It looks in very new condition and is priced accordingly 🙂

I hope all those who are unwell feel better speedily. Thoughts particularly with Marydoll and Susan.
