I have just read this article.
How thick can people be! I guess lack of basic education doesn't help.

Personally I think there is so much hot at being spoken in US politics maybe it does affect weather.😬

I read this 'news' after Church -- makes one wonder.

Watch Michael Spicer (comedian) on YouTube for his take on Trump Fact Check. I could not believe the bare faced lies this imbecile tells his millions of ardent followers.

What is so so seriously crazily worrying, is not his incredible lies- but the fact so many believe them!

Why is it always women who sleep their way to the top? Surely now, with so many women in high places why are we not hearing about men sleeping their way to the top.

By the way why is it alwayssleeping their way to the top? I would have thought to be effective it would be not-sleeping activities that paved the upward path.

I so wish there was a 🤣 emoji I could you to up vote some of these responses!!

The floods in Abu Dhabi were denied to be linked to Clyde seeding, but I'm told by people living there that cloud seeding was the cause.

When will humans realise we are not in control of nature? We are just living on this planet, we don't own it.

It's climate change. That's what we're seeing. That's what is causing the poles to move - the poles control climate, so are adjusting.

The reinsurance industry almost threw away their risk models when New Orleans suffered that catastrophic flood. There just needed to be 1 more hurricane and thankfully there wasn't. I'm not sure this year will lead to no adjustment in risk assessments and premiums...

SGBoo Sun 13-Oct-24 18:29:20

Cloud not Clyde hmm

Wyllow3 Sun 13-Oct-24 18:37:08

Indeed......Trump and Vance are both climate change deniers.

(which I suppose makes claims someone can alter the weather even more weird, but I doubt they'd get the logic...)

"Trump continues to deny climate crisis as he visits hurricane-ravaged Georgia
Ex-president refers to climate crisis as ‘one of the great scams’ and plans to attend two fundraisers in oil-rich Texas"

www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/oct/01/trump-visits-georgia-denies-climate-crisis-after-hurricane-helene

no surprises in the article (huge funding from oil industry) but still really brings the point home.

It’s a myth you are not likely to advance your business career sleeping with the boss, although you might improve your marriage or financial prospects.
Women bosses are too smart to let a boyfriend get business advancement in that way.

That's a new one on me. It's far more likely that the movement of the magnetic poles is influencing the climate. It's even more likely that the climate is being influenced - to a great extent, if not absolutely - by the sun being in a very active solar maximus cycle.

I’m not sure that Trump himself is intelligent enough to be dangerous . Do you think he is being used as a useful idiot by others with their own agenda ? Vance became a supporter in time to become a VP , not denying the craziest statements but coating them with emollient with a little debate help from the Democrat VP . Putin and his mates , including UK supporters are determined on a Trump presidency .

It's the big backlash against everything and is emotional rather than rational. Perhaps net zero makes people think we can control the weather. Throw in immigration etc and you get this type of paranoia especially with social media platforms in which to spread it. Universities and other institutions cutting back on free speech stopping people thinking for themselves in a logical manner doesn't help. Mind a lot of these are incapable of logic full stop. Bring back common sense and politeness.

A lot of people, quite probably a majority in America, believe in a supernatural
Being with a long beard sitting on a cloud running our lives. Now I am not adverse to the idea of forces for good and evil, but the concept of GOD, supposedly linked to free will, did for centuries underpin all rational thought UNTIL the arrival in this world of modern science.

Now if you genuinely believe in Adam and Eve, as many US citizens do, then irrational fears and illogical ideas such as these follow rather naturally.

They are not mad, but they ARE completely deluded

She also said the hurricane was being sent to Republican areas only.

I notice her husband has said he wants to release the divorce documents now.

Oo haven’t heard about the latter…looking forward to that! I will never understand the US peoples. MTG is fame hungry and always has been … but there are brighter people elected to high office who seem to just fall in line with the egregious Trump’s malignant narcissism! Is it lack of education, or are they just all selfish and power hungry too. Add in the terror Trump is spreading ( falsely in the main) about being over run by immigrants to extinction….! Don’t they know they are almost all immigrants?? I despair! (And this is all apart from hid complete lack of empathy and morals! SIGH!

I'll just add this.
"The amount of energy released in a hurricane averages 52 petajoules per day. The world’s largest power generation station, the Three Gorges Dam in China, has a maximum generating capacity of 1.9 petajoules per day. That’s not going to do it, is it? Let’s take the most powerful thing we can engineer: a nuclear bomb, and pretend that we could magically capture all the energy it releases to power our Evil Weather Machine. A 1 megaton bomb releases releases 4.2 petajoules in a few seconds. So we would need to detonate one about every two hours to match the power output of a hurricane. Seems like designing and powering a machine that could generate a hurricane might be a little harder than we thought. But Marge dismisses this math as “ridiculous” so I guess we need more reasons."

Hope sanity prevails otherwise it will have repercussions for everyone. Mindless followers.

icanhandthemback Mon 14-Oct-24 20:38:49

I don’t think Trump himself is dangerous though some of his supporters might well be.

I’m not sure that Trump himself is intelligent enough to be dangerous

I'm afraid that is delusional thinking. People believe what he is saying and people act upon what he says. Just look at the damage he was able to cause after he lost the election. Anybody who has a large following who undermines the law or encourages people to distrust the electoral system even when proved wrong is downright dangerous. His intelligence may be somewhat lacking in that he can't see the repercussions of the lies espouses but that doesn't make him any less dangerous.

Gundy Mon 14-Oct-24 22:14:01

nanna8 and a few others… Trump is dangerous because he is easily manipulated (by flattery, money, etc) so he can be easily bought and do the bidding of his masters, and other dictators around the world who want to see us fail as a world power. He craves being in that authoritarian cluster.

He’s a lazy individual and runs the govt like a mob enterprise - bullying, cruelty, retribution, requires loyalty from advisors and followers.

He’s filled with hate towards immigrants (that built our country!), Women and Jews, wants revenge because he’s weak and insecure, wants to abolish the constitution and most of the guardrails of our govt - Dept of Justice, Homeland Security, Education, Weather Service, Internal Revenue Service, Medicare and Social Security… to name a FEW. Too many to list!

People who served with him in his cabinet / administration and left are now warning us about the danger of re-electing him!

He craves power and claims “only I can fix it.” If you think he’s not dangerous, just wait - if he gets in power he will create chaos with your country and our other allies. Remember WWII? Germany? Holocaust? History repeats itself.
Plus he’s a convicted felon‼️

Wyllow3 Mon 14-Oct-24 22:37:10

Always glad to hear from you Gundy

Interested as to what you mean by his masters. (unless you mean those behind Project 25)

nanna8 Tue 15-Oct-24 00:19:40

I really worry about the education system in the US when people seriously believe the weird stuff about the weather. I really can’t imagine that happening in the UK or Australia come to that. We all have our strange weirdos but maybe not quite that weird!

Wyllow3 Tue 15-Oct-24 00:44:06

It does rather make one count the blessings despite many grumbles!

Gundy Tue 15-Oct-24 14:40:16

Wyllow3 Yes, his masters are the people who can manipulate him - Project 2025 authors (most who worked for him in first administration and last four years), Silicon Valley billionaires, Wall Street, other dictators. He is only concerned about money for himself. He’s willing to do their bidding.

No one thinks he’s very smart (well, maybe his cult) but he is manipulative himself with his donors, and he’s conniving, very insecure. He’s not presidential material. I find him to be one of the most loathsome people ever, most say evil too - for wanting to break our country, for control - for his own pleasure and glory.

Wyllow3 Tue 15-Oct-24 14:43:51

Gundy, you might be interested in popping over to a new thread set up to discuss the next 3 weeks leading up to the elections, your contributions would be most welcome there. I'd be interested in what you think about Trump saying he would bring the military in - what do the military feel about Trump?
