Good morning from an as yet dry north Suffolk but very grey.

We had a lovely time yesterday with DS and family. It was strange to see them without DGD1 who is happily settled at university. They seem to have settled down into a family of 4 and their dog seems to have accepted that.

DGS3 had made a delicious French onion soup and chocolate brownies. I think he still has to learn that clearing up is part of the cooking experience.

I’m looking forward to meeting up with Gingster and am glad our new venue is indoors. Sitting outside at the beach cafe at Dunwich wouldn’t cut it today.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning from a grey and drizzly St Albans. I too feel like Mrs Overall hollysteers!
The builder starts today on refitting my bathroom. Luckily I have a downstairs loo/basin so will be perfecting the art of strip-washing and can use my neighbour’s shower when it’s hair wash day.
Doing a lot of reading, currently on Dombey and Son. Dickens writes with such humour whilst tackling huge issues.
Daughter popped in yesterday but am missing company as I usually go out every day and meet someone. I live alone but have dear little dog who is the best companion.
Have a great day everyone.

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is -1°C, but sunny.

Another quiet day for me, apart from some admin.
At the request of the new PP, I am trying to set up a Whats App group for key parish workers (a fair number) to improve communication and get the complainers onside, I have made a mess of it and somehow added a Glesca Gran by mistake, no surprise there! 😆
My head is mince, i.e I cannot concentrate at all. I have compared the process to herding unruly and reluctant cats. 😉

LLF, I am so envious. About fifteen years ago, I was studying in Lyons and every morning, I saw the Riviera Travel boats lined up on the quayside. On my return, I tried to persuade DH to do a river cruise, unfortunately,he doesn't do cruises! 😔
It would have been wonderful to travel down the Rhône

I want to thank everyone for their kindness, with a special thanks to the Glasgow Grans, those who sent PMs and my school pal Borrheid, who have kept in touch.
I have had many episodes of being very unwell, but somehow have always managed to overcome things and be positive..
However, this time I have felt quite hopeless and sad at the unfairness of life and did not want to bring my negativity to the GM thread. There are posters, who have far more to deal with than I have.

Best wishes to all, who are struggling and feeling unwell. Being ill and childminding are so difficult,, GMB, I hope you can get through the day.

Safe journey home, lulu, I hope your DH is not to badly injured.

Good morning everyone from a dry and slightly sunny south Manchester. Alexa tells me it’s 6°C rising to 12°C with sunny spells all day.

We have no plans after a wonderfully socialised weekend which we both thoroughly enjoyed. Himself has routine dental and then hygienist appointments this afternoon. I plan to wander in and out of the shops in the square. Coffee out together at some stage is a strong possibility.

Good morning everyone and Happy Birthday to MrSar 🎂🎉
It has been raining overnight and the sky is very grey.

I had my autumn jabs on Saturday, in and out as quick as and then on to pick up my prescription.
I finally got round to reading some paperwork, had a few tears and then the sky turned brighter and I took it for a sign.

Today I’m going out craft shopping, mostly for essentials but I expect I’ll buy some other things.

Wishing all the best to you all 🌻

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE but there is frost on the cars.
Put my back out yesterday and am in agony, didn't shut my eyes until 4.30am then only slept fitfully.
Today would have been our 57th wedding anniversary, it was gloomy and rained all day for the wedding, I have no outside photos other than me escorted into the church under a huge umbrella.
Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire. It was raining when I woke up but seems to have stopped now.

We had a lovely weekend with DD2 and family. We took DGD4 shopping for her birthday. She bought a very random selection of 'stuff'.

Yesterday everyone went to watch DGS4 play football and give his little brother his birthday present.

After they had all left we discovered DSiL had left his wallet here so he has no cards or cash. Have to work out the best way to get it back to him as they are not coming back for a month. Bless him!!!

Our son’s partner left her wallet behind with everything in it! I arranged a signed for special delivery and she had it back the next day.

Good morning Mick and all. It's 0° on the Angus coast, with a light covering of frost, but one of those lovely golden autumn mornings. The towels are in the machine ready to hang out and I'll be off in a minute to find a small clothes wash too to make the most of a good day.
Yesterday was a bit of a nothing day, not made happier by DGD3's news that she and her boyfriend have broken up. I'd been picking up the vibes for quite a while so it wasn't entirely a surprise, but I'm so sad for her - how I wish I could shelter her from the heartache of youth. I remember when my 'first true love' and I broke up how I'd walk for miles to our next town to my sister's, borrow the baby (who's now nearly 70!) and walk for more miles with her in her pram - anything to keep moving and occupied! DGD3 seems to be cooking as her coping strategy and was telling me about the lasagne soup she'd just made.
Hollysteer flowers your recovery sounds most uncomfortable. Get better soon.
Happy birthday to your DH Sar.
Lulu what a shock to you all! I hope your journey home is comfortable and uneventful and that your DH feels no ill-effects after his fall.
Your two 'little terrors' will be little angels after soft play Grandmabatty, I'm sure 🤞
Nothing particularly exciting in my programme for today - just tai chi committee meeting. It's always lovely to see everyone of course, but I find it a bit of a trial trying to hear and follow what's being said. I get so frustrated . Always interesting reading the minutes later!
Have the best day you can everyone x

Good morning from a crisp, cold, Durham. Not a cloud in the sky, but some signs of an overnight ground frost.
DGS2 was a delight yesterday - coughing quite a lot though. He’s at Nursery today, but they’ll send him home if he’s poorly.

Coffee this morning with a friend, then an afternoon running around various places, buying/returning/exchanging stuff.
Head wounds bleed such a lot Lulu, but do keep an eye on your DH later.
I’m lost off with how many GNs are in the sick bay for one reason or another. Needless to say, I hope you are all making some progress. 💐MaryD

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Sunny and freezing cold here.
I woke with a runny nose type cold so will not do anything strenuous today.

Yesterday was very sociable. My French friend came to tea with 3 more women ( 1 Irish, 1 Polish and 1 American) and I listened while they put the world to rights. 🤣😂

I have date for a consultation for a hip replacement so I really need to do some exercise. I shall sign up for a class or 2.

Great picture ginny verrry scary

Have a good day everyone.

A mixed bag of weekends reported this morning so special sympathy to the unwell and the convalescent. Admin and the gardener today and possibly getting to grips with the new air fryer if I can decide what to dig out of the freezer to experiment with.

Georgesgran Mon 14-Oct-24 09:23:57

DD2 was at an event in Durham Cathedral yesterday evening…

luluaugust Mon 14-Oct-24 10:39:40

Thank you for the kind messages. We are now on the 10 o’clock from Perth to Kings Cross so a good long sit. DH has a face bruise but otherwise fine. We have hospital facilities near home if needed.

Good Morning from a lovely sunny Co Armagh, there’s a bit of heat in the sun too
I have painful hands today , I’ll have to stop crochet for today , it hasn’t caused it , but it doesn’t help it either
Yesterday morning we had the choir and organist at Mass , it was quite uplifting
Greenhouse might get a clear out this afternoon and a few perennials in pots moved in , my Daughter has a free afternoon and has suggested it
Thinking of those sick or despondent 💐
