A bit of a funny one, DD is going on a first date. She's mid 20s he's 30 and he wants to go somewhere dog friendly so he can bring his dog! She's not sure if this is a bit odd

Crossstitchfan that’s a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing it

Two strangers meeting for a first date, each taking a dog who doesn’t know the other dog, what could possibly go wrong?😂

Hope her dog is bigger than his dog.

Mind you, size doesn't always count, we had a little dog.

Well listen to this!!!! He's messaged her saying he can't do the walk! He's hungover from last night! What a loser

Allira Sun 20-Oct-24 14:05:34

Ooh, bad sign

Cross him of the list!

Allira Sun 20-Oct-24 14:06:38

Ps a man too hung over to give his poor dog a walk is not a good prospect

BlueBelle Sun 20-Oct-24 14:08:50

Hahaha good miss there, leave him to sleep it off with his dog, Obviously he needs the dog as no one else wants to put up with him. Silly sprout that’s a good miss for your daughter Hope she doesn’t consider it if he comes back with a new ‘dog walk date’

OldFrill Sun 20-Oct-24 14:27:04

Wonder who the date was last night, seems he had a good time.

Biscuitmuncher Sun 20-Oct-24 14:59:15

Personally I think she's definitely dodged a bullet

Wyllow3 Sun 20-Oct-24 15:03:06

Well dodged imo. There's this idea that being seen as pet friendly makes a bloke into a nice caring guy....

Thank you! It certainly was and I would go back to those days in a heartbeat.

He's a dog lover, his dog is really important to him. He's letting her know this. P!us, he wants to see how she and his dog interact. If she's not keen on dogs then she doesn't go. If she also likes dogs then what's the problem. She goes, sees how they all get on. If all his attention is solely on his dog then she dmeant have to date him again.

You obviously didn’t bother reading the post where the op informed us that he went out on the lash the night before and cancelled because he has a hangover.

JamesandJon33 Wed 23-Oct-24 10:17:14

Wonder if he took his dog to that also ?

NotSpaghetti Wed 23-Oct-24 10:22:09

petra
How do you know he "went out on the lash"?
And if he did, is it better to say so or plead "illness".

I think we only have a part-story.

MissAdventure Wed 23-Oct-24 14:35:55

Perhaps he went out on the leash?

Greyisnotmycolour Wed 23-Oct-24 14:52:35

So many dogs these days are treated like children, they can't be left at home, unattended, for reasons that I fail to understand. First dates have also changed too, these days it's likely to be a cup of coffee in a very public place and last less than 30 mins. Life moves on, times and social rituals change. If she's not keen on having her life organised around a dog, I'd tell her not to bother.

Less than could go wrong if it was just the two of them

Oooh! Maybe! grin

Well , going back to the first post . I don’t think it’s odd for for him to take his dog on a first date . My AC would love that. Plus a dog is an icebreaker. These days many young guys find girls quite scary.
Many on here don’t realise that dating has changed so much . Most people meet online , chat for a while and then arrange a date . The date is often low key , coffee or lunch at first and then drinks and dinner after a few dates . Immediately post covid lots of dates involved walks as that was all you could do .
After the ops recent post , I think her dd has dodged s bullet . He can’t think much of her if he’s had a heavy night prior to a first date .

Unless it's a chihuahua called princess FooFoo and wears pink tutus... (or is a crotch sniffer)

Hahahaha

Cossy Thu 24-Oct-24 17:41:11

I really don’t think it’s odd and I’d go anyhow.

Cossy Thu 24-Oct-24 17:42:58

Haha I’ve just read back and see he cancelled. At least he was decent and honest and didn’t just stand her up or make up a rubbish excuse!
