WWM I saw a button which says block, so I did. Can’t remember where it was but would have to have been obvious for me to notice it.

I got a message that read like some of those 'phishing' messages you get on Facebook from US servicemen who are clearly fake.

I did message 'Soren' back asking her to be specific, but 'she' wasn't- just as vague in her reply so I did think it was fake.

Good to see others have had messages because I did think it was only me!

Thank goodness I gave her a fake christian name.

I was once taken in my a so-called 'charity' worker to who I sent a small amount of money before finally rumbling him.

No more trying to be nice on-line.

He/she admired my ‘thoughtful’ posts, and wanted to know where I was?

Myself and another Scottish gran had a PM from that person. We too wrote thoughtful posts. He/she was reported.

I actually had two from that odd poster, I blocked.

Not a nice thing to do, make a supposed friendly bot, glad we got some help to ID it. Grateful to GNHQ it gives us some protections.

I never reveal it .
Initially , I thought that it was from a very pleasant person using old fashioned formal English .
I'm certainly suspicious now .

Very few grans have my email address or phone number , that's why we have PMs. They provide a layer of security.
Also, most of those, who have my details, I have met in person.

It takes time to build up trust, I would never give my email address to someone, who has contacted me online, until I have got to know them.

Yes, it was silly of me. Lesson learned I hope.

Before blocking them I put their name into the search facility to see if any reasonable posts came up from them. When nothing appeared I blocked them.
