Good Morning Friday 25th October 2024

Good morning all from a misty North Leicestershire.

My usual Friday routine of going to the butcher's and Waitrose and our lovely cleaner should work wonders while I am out.

Our gardener came yesterday - I swear the plants stand up straighter when she is around. She worked her usual magic and the garden is looking lovely.

Good morning all and there’s a brightening sky here in Essex. We’ve had some glorious days here.

Dh is fixing the garden gate and has had to buy tools as many of ours are at our seaside house. He’s not a handy man but is doing his best and he’s quite pleased with his efforts.👍.

Today we’ll meet our Friday friends to catch up with all their news . We haven’t seen them for 3 weeks so a lot to chat about.,

Good morning Mick and all from a brightening northwest coast.
DS left last night and has been a great help to this convalescent. He took me out for a gentle, slow drive yesterday, “Mind the bumps!” and I even managed a bowl of cream of chicken soup at a cafe. Came home and slept as if I had trecked up Snowdon😁
FGT thanks for kind thoughts and recommendation, which I will certainly follow up and to all who remembered me.
DD arrives on Sunday. Dsister in the south wanted to come too, but I feel I need a little more time just to myself, watching Netflix etc. Good excuse to binge watch.

Part of my wardrobe door fell on my head yesterday, which I could do without, DS will fix on his next visit. He also fixed my car window, he’s very handy.

Mick, I’m sure the water is not responsible for any changes, do follow the good advice here!

Goods morning all from the Angus coast where the sun is about to rise in a peachy glow. It could be another lovely day.
I had a lovely afternoon/early evening with DGD3 yesterday - she's delightful company. Our planned walk along the local beach didn't happen though as the wind was coming out of the north and off the North Sea and it felt perishing. We did, of course, manage our visit to the Chinese Restaurant which was as delicious as ever.
Today we are holding an in-house tai chi workshop. I'm very much feeling the after effects of my covid and flu jabs, so I don't know if I'll manage the full day though. I'm feeling very woozy and off-balance.
What a shock, grammaretto! I've never heard of that happening before. Thank goodness for no injuries.
Now I shall have to dash. Lovely to hear all your news, and for the poorly people. Have a good day x

Good morning all from a grey looking Suffolk. The dear friend I’m meeting for coffee later has promised sun so we’ll see.

Apart from 2 sore arms,which didn’t stop me sleeping well last night, I don’t seem to have any other side effects to my 2 jabs yesterday lunchtime.

DD1 and family are arriving tomorrow for 2 or 3 days and DS and his tribe are coming for lunch on Sunday so I’m glad the side effects of the jabs are minimal.

I’ll have a break from social media whilst we have a full house. After all the teenagers will need all the WiFi!!

Good morning from wet Wiltshire.

Grammaretto some time ago our oven door exploded. It had been put on to heat a pizza. I remember it gave us quite a shock. Hope the glass was confined to a small area.

DD and GC’s called in yesterday during the afternoon. For once they didn’t fight but quietly did Halloween colouring in the kitchen.

I went to the dentist in the morning. I’ve had a wire retainer at the back of my teeth for 15 years following orthodontic work and it snapped leaving a bit of wire hanging down which DH cut. I had the residue filed down and was charged £60 for 3 minutes work which seemed a lot.

I too hope Hollysteers is ok as she’s had an awful time of late.

Good morning from a bright W Kent. Yesterday’s outing for fish and chips with DGS5 went well and the day passed quickly. Like most 13 year olds his nose is firmly stuck in his phone but he did help his grandad with a few things.

I was a bit under the weather yesterday and spent the day reclining on the sofa. I feel a little better this morning but haven’t got up yet!

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where, unbelievably, it’s dry again! Every day this week walking through the park to be with the Boy Wonder it’s been sunny. It’s made my 15 minute stroll with a takeaway coffee very pleasant and hearing his cheery “Hi grandma!” as I put my key in the front door just delights me every single time. Anyway, last day of this as mum finishes this afternoon for her week off and L’il Miss at her school too. 😁

Grey skies and light showers promised for today but will miss the oldies’ coffee morning as I am expecting a delivery from RSPB between 9.52 and 11.52 am. As it is two 12.5 kg sacks of premium sunflower hearts which our spoiled birds prefer I want to be here so that the driver can put them in the garage - too heavy for me to shift. Should keep the avian wildlife happy for a month or two. My neighbours both sides complain that I get all the little birds but I do point out that it comes with a cost!

Need to do a supermarket shop which I have kept putting off but no other plans.

Yesterday I did a crossword to keep my brain active and then watched a film on Netflix, A man called Otto starring Tom Hanks.

Totally true story:

Like most people I can't stand flies at the best of times but about 3:50 this morning I was laying on my right side in bed and was abruptly woken up by a pesty thing that actually got IN to my left ear, it was moving and BUZZING!

I leapt out of bed absolutely hysterical trying to get the hideous thing out! Eventually I managed to mangle it with my finger and evict it!

I've had them fly into my eyes a few times over the years but in all my 59 years it's the first time I've had one in my ear! Hopefully it'll be the last!

Such a pity I couldn't get my tin of Raid in there!

Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey Carlisle.

I'm a bit late this morning having just returned from taking the car in for its service and MOT. The garage kindly gave me a lift back home so saving me the taxi fare.

I shall have a quiet day, the cold bugs have taken a firmer hold and I'm feeling a tad wobbly. Every time I travel these days....either I've got more susceptible or bugs are rampant everywhere! I have lots of reading to catch up on not to mention admin. That includes getting holiday insurance and am hoping the cost will not be astronomical as it's long haul.

Good morning from a sunny day in Spain.

We are going to the next town along the coast to see the market and buy some fresh salad veg and fruit, if MrOops gets a move on.

My cousin contacted me yesterday to tell me that her brother, my cousin, had just died in hospital as a result of Covid, as he only sees carers (he was housebound) , it seems that we aren’t in the clear yet, he told my cousin that he had asked one of the carers at the time to wear a mask as they had the sniffles.

He was only my age, just a month younger.

Good morning from a dull N Bucks. Still coughing for Britain, I think Ekwa has a very valid point about bugs and travelling. I did a third Covid test just in case , but no, just a bad cold/ filthy foreign flu virus 🦠- I blame the French!
Hair cut this morning then I really need to get this house back into some sort of order, the lovely weather since I got home having tempted me to go berserk with the washing machine - now it all needs ironing/folding/putting away.

I’m late having coughed all night and only dropped off to sleep around 6am.
Going to take DD2’s Little Dog home, then come back and cough myself silly, again. It’s nothing serious, just very annoying.

Mick you are getting both barrels today, but time to put your big boy pants on and seek medical advice. Tap water isn’t the problem and bottled water isn’t the answer. Why not just ask??

A big difference in the weather today as it’s very murky and misty after a week of brightness. Typical, as I’m meeting friends later.

I angree with all the advice Mick. You really should speak to someone medical about your continued stomach upset. It’s going on too long. If it was the tap water at fault then others in your complex would be suffering too.

That must have given you quite a scare Grammaretto. I imagine it made quite a noise.
