Trainers...yes or no?

I used to wear stiletto shoes ,sling back shoes and sandals in my younger years but since retiring I have worn flat shoes. I now feel I need a little more support but I really don't relish the thought of wearing trainers. I know they are very popular, in fact out shopping it looks like everyone is wearing them but me. How comfortable are they?

Ramola, the self-confident amongst us really don`t care what you think. I wear my trainers with lovely high quality hand -made dresses and skirts. Also when I am wearing cycling lycra or my walking -about -town clothes. Also very nice with coats of all types

Romola

I've never had a pair of trainers. But I live in Ecco Soft lace-up shoes. I think I'm going to get some Ecco Soft boots this winter.
Sorry, but I think clunky trainers or boots with a dress look wrong on anyone over 25.

They look wrong to you.

Never worn trainers. Hated plimsolls and tennis shoes at school as they made my feet sting. So never tried trainers. I like chunky shoes so some trainers would fit the bill, but I am wary of buying a pair. Summer time I wear Birks and Josef Seibel sandals. Winter it’s Josef Seibel lace ups or DMs.

A few soft Ecco leather shoes I wear may qualify as trainers, I suppose. Have a nice footbed for high arches, lace up snug.

Whatever is comfortable for the wearer is best.
I think there's nothing more ageing than seeing someone tottering along in uncomfortable shoes or boots.

In the winter going out I wouldn't be without my Josef Sebel boots. Have old ones, red, dark green, and some new ones, burgundy coloured, fur lined. Great with jeans or cords which I live in. Summer, loafers usually or trainers but not laced up ones, just slip on.

Seibel, thought it didn't look right!
