Good morning Mick and everyone from bright and dry Carlisle.
I've just returned from a walk across the park to the convenience store for my newspaper, I have to go early because they only seem to stock 2 or 3 whereas they have piles of 'opinionpapers'!

My car successfully passed its MOT yesterday, however, something needed attending to. A fairly modest bill turned into a large one. I'm hoping this car will see out my driving career without major, very expensive problems, and because they don't make this model any more. It was the smallest in the range and I don't want or need a bigger and much more expensive model.

Today, more admin and probably some gardening.
Yesterday's admin was disappointing....I found that travel insurance won't cover me for tree canopy walking even if I were to pay extra. I'm too old! I'd hoped to do this on my forthcoming holiday in the spring. I'll have another hunt around today but I'm not optimistic.

Have a lovely weekend all of you.

Good morning from Shropshire where a dry day is forecast. The heat from the winter sun is still warming the conservatory which means we haven’t had to have the heating on yet.

Thank you Marydoll, we have seen improvements in mum physically and also her spirit is still strong💪🏼cognitively not great but ok.

Today we have a day at home with no plans🥳I will probably spend the morning doing household stuff and this afternoon reading.Bliss!DH is looking forward to a day in the garden.

Thinking of hollysteers, Marydoll and all with mountains to climb.

Grandmabatty👋🏻

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning everyone from a damp south Manchester. Alexa tells me it’s currently 7°C and we can expect sunshine and 14°C today. We’ve not long woken up. I think we are turning into dormice. Clocks go back this weekend. Maybe lighter mornings will nudge us to open our eyes a bit earlier!

We are being treated to a meal out in Hale, Cheshire today courtesy of a couple of dear friends who want to take us to their favourite restaurant for our recent 50th wedding anniversary. We’ve known them years, they came to our celebratory party but I’m very much looking forward to just the four of us having a more intimate catch up. Ooh-er muther that came out a big wrong! 😁

Good morning from a bright and sunny NE.
Slept in until 8.50am, unusual for me.
It is going to be another quiet day as DS is not visiting today, GD is going to a classmate's birthday party and will need transporting.
DIL sent a message to say that she will be taking everything out of GD's bedroom as the bedroom fitters start work on Monday. By the end of the week she will have a new bedroom/study with accessories of her choice, my present to her for her 15th birthday.
The programme looks great Ashcombe, GD would love that. She has sung from Hamilton and lots more musicals.
Sorry to hear you still have the cough Georgesgran, I dosed myself with Bronchostop and it helped a lot.
Going to have a relaxed day with my book.

Thanks, MD, I had thought of that, but I haven’t seen any of the family for nearly a month…. I shan’t hug and shall keep her at arm’s length. 😢

Good morning all from a sunny Angus coast. The only good thing to be said about the 'fall back' tonight is that it's a step closer to the 'spring forward' 😉
I had a great day yesterday at our in-house tai chi workshop. I was in recovery mode after a surprisingly fierce reaction to my covid and flu jabs on Wednesday and was in two minds whether or not to go, but so glad I did. It was a lovely chance to catch up with people I used to know and there was so much chat and laughter. It's so much more fun to be a class participant rather than an instructor!
The reaction to the jab took the form of an excessive tiredness/weariness so by the time I got home I was ready to drop - so I did! Into a chair, by the radiator, and covered with a cosy throw. After that there was little movement detected - I didn't even fancy any tea. Having dozed snuggly all evening I then went to bed and slept for six full hours (!). If it had been a summer morning I would have got up when I woke, but it was a dark and foggy one so I stayed where I was - and slept for another two hours. So that's two nights of 8 or more hours' sleep compared to the 3-4 hours I usually manage. I feel marvellous - all dressed up with nowhere to go!!
I hope your Cabaret show goes well this weekend Ash - I'm sure it will.
Sorry Iris has covid grandmattie and you missed your family meal, but I'm sure your DD's visit and a one-to-one will be adequate compensation for that!
Karma I do hope you will bless us with pictures of your new storage - I assume that is the large parcel you were waiting for? Enjoy your visiting today, and I'm sure the driving through the beautiful autumn countryside will be a pleasure.
Marydoll your new Parish priest sounds a much gentler and kindlier personality than your previous one. I'm glad you're feeling a little bit 'more like' and feel able to post.
I know there's a sore tummy and a bad cold up thread, but I can't now remember who they belong to. But I do hope they improve and disappear quickly flowers
Have a good day everyone and enjoy the last day before winter-time 🕑❄️⛄

Morning all from an autumnal West Oxfordshire.

Apart from reading the papers, catching up on a couple of podcasts and having a small clear out, I will be making beef bourguignon for dinner. That’s all.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from West Sussex by the sea. It’s grey but dry here. It must have rained in the night as everything looks very wet. I am awaiting the arrival of a friend with her two dogs - she is going to a wedding. There should have been three dogs but the oldest one died just a few days ago. He had a heart problem and was the grand age of 14. The two I have today are little dogs and not hard work usually but they will be missing their brother-in-mischief 🥲

I must do some tidying up and decluttering. Being back in our main residence I realise how much ‘stuff’ there is here compared to in our wee flat in Scotland (though I had to be firm with the books and paper of one sort and another that were piling up there too).

The dogs are here! Wishing you all a good day.
