Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark , but looks as if there has been overnight rain .
Usual plan today hoping to see others I know whilst in Bicester on the bus , the way it works for me I pay the £2 single ,and then use bus pass on return leg .
Watch TV later with next years Tour De France being announced for both men and women.
Health wise little change.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dull and grey, but dry, Black Country.

Tiring day yesterday. Monday walk of at least 5 miles, quick lunch then met my friend for Line Dancing. I felt quite weary in the evening.

Today I am taking Mum to visit my cousin who is recovering from her cancer operation. Aunt will be there also.

Enjoy your break away with the family Monk.

Happy Anniversary Ashcombe

Happy anniversary, Ash and oldd 🤗💐❤️

Good morning everyone from a dull and cloudy Northampton, but I am taking a chance and have just put the bedding in the washing machine. A last minute decision yesterday to change the bed, and then I damp-dusted all the bedrooms; still not managed to hoover upstairs, but that will definitely happen today.....

I also cleaned some of my ear-rings, putting them to soak in soapy water, then using a baby toothbrush on them. Next, I put them into a drop of gin, which I am told will sterilise.them and make them shiny..... No I did not drink the.gin afterwards.....

Hopefully out for my group health walk after lunch, then coffee and cake, followed by a browse around the adjoining charity shop.

Enjoyed my SOAP variation for dinner last night, and have enough left to have more tonight.

Happy anniversary Ash, spoil yourself today! flowers

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Today is GD2’s 18th birthday, she is away with the family and we hope to catch up with her on Saturday.
Happy Anniversary Ash
Best wishes to all

GM, I copy as I go along. That way if I lose a post, it is on the clipboard.
Much easier to do if you are on a PC, rather than tablet.

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a dry, mild South Yorkshire. My cold has properly gone down onto my chest and I am losing my voice (don’t all cheer at once😁). It was amazingly mild yesterday. GS and I spent all afternoon outside taming a feral conifer with loppers and the hedge trimmer, and putting landscape fabric on the bed that runs the length of the drive. I intend to plant heathers through it and cover it with bark or stone chipping. He was a terrific help - I couldn’t have done it on my own. I will run him home later this morning in time for his driving lesson.
Happy Anniversary to you and OD, Ash. Absence makes the heart grow fonder!🥂💐
Have the best day you can, folks.

Good morning everyone from a wet south Manchester as it chucked it down an hour ago.

Himself has booked us flights to Málaga for this Thursday afternoon. He said we might as well wait for the scan results in the Spanish sunshine as here! We discussed the idea in clinic yesterday with the Registrar who smiled and said ‘why not?’ So instead of the results in two weeks, they will send out a clinic appointment for three. I’m already excited to be going back to our ‘happy place’ so soon. ✈️

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 12°C.

Busy thread this morning. I remember the days, when I used to post right after Mick, but restless nights and lack of sleep make it difficult to do anything first thing.

Life is quite restricted at the moment, so not much to report.
However, I had a lovely surprise yesterday, when I received a phone call from Dollie. Her parents have bought her a smart watch, so that she can have a little more freedom out playing with friends. It means that her parents know where she is at any time.
DS has put it on classroom mode, so that it cannot be used during school time. It has an app, which means she can only phone close family members. Isn't technology marvellous?
I was feeling a bit unwell, so it gave ne such a boost. I couldn't stop laughing when she told me that I would be shocked if I could see her. She was going for her bath and was wearing nothing but her watch! The innocence of her.😍

Depending on how I feel, I plan to visit M&S food today. I haven't really been anywhere for ages. My hips are really painful, but nothing can be done. A hip replacement isn't the solution.
Not much is needed, so it won't be too strenuous. I hate being confined to barracks and just want out.

Hoping the poorly grandchildren improve and Susan, I was glad to hear that you had a less stressful day.

Finally, anniversary wishes to Ash and Oldd, its a pity you can't be together.

Have a good day folks.

Good morning everyone. A bright start here in N.Bucks today.
I have to collect my new glasses today which had to go back for adjustment. hope they are right this time.
Whilst in town I have a long list of materials needed for craft club and a few for myself. Will also look for some new curtains for the second bedroom.
Maybe lunch out and fill the car with petrol on the way back.
A quiet evening of painting as there will be lots of walking around in town.
Wishing you all a good day with a smile along the way.

GrannySomerset Tue 29-Oct-24 08:32:36

Looks like a promising morning so will finish planting the excessive number of tulip bulbs - I was defeated yesterday before the job was done but the aches have subsided so onwards and upwards, though bed changing and laundry first. No other plans though must finish my book for Thursday’s meeting and plan meals for the weekend when DD and DSiL will be visiting.

Good morning from a thundery and wet Alicante, not much planned today, if it brightens we will walk along to the town and have a wander, but at the moment it’s too wet.

Happy Anniversary ash and oldd hope you both have a good day.

FGT bring your sweaters and wellies it’s very wet over here! You will arrive as we leave, hopefully it’s warmer in Oxfordshire.

Hugs for those poorly Nans and for those caring for others.

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle.
I slept a lot last night but it was broken sleep, I kept waking from vivid, strange dreams. I think my cold is trying to make a comeback, very annoying.

It was damp and drizzly all yesterday but I was occupied with housework and admin. I finally decided and paid for some holiday insurance after carefully studying all the small print. It was difficult to understand why some quotes were so high for what seemed like the same offers .Of my two usually favoured companies, one quote was twice the other. One annoyance from them all was that they think I'm too aged a person to go zip-lining, canopy walking etc etc. I wouldn't necessarily mind paying extra but no....

Today I shall polish off the week's routine housework and laundry then see what I fancy doing after lunch, probably reading as I don't want to aggravate this bug by exerting myself outside.

Happy anniversary to you both, Ashcombe.

And wishing you all the best possible day.

Jaxjacky Tue 29-Oct-24 08:40:44

Morning from a brighter S Hants, yesterday was dark and wet, voluntary calls went well and I’ll update the spreadsheet in a minute.
My garden helper weeded and pruned, I’ve just a few tulips to put in and order seeds for next year.
My daughter is in Wales with the children, they did a waterfall trek yesterday in the rain, back later today after a Barry Island visit.
Son and fiancée here tonight for roast dinner.
Susan I’m pleased you have some respite 🌹
Happy Anniversary Ashcombe and od 🥂
Why not FGT himself talks sense!

Good morning all and it’s bright and sunny here in Essex.

Yesterdays Chime session was full on with 2 of our members away Ill. Poor teacher was desperately trying to adjust the music for 6 players rather than 8. It’s hard work for her. We have concerts coming up and she’s getting concerned. Oh dear!

I went to the local small chemist to pick up my eye drops and the pharmacist asked if I’d like my jabs then and there! 😬, ok , I said but only the flu . I’ve decided not to have the Covid.
I went home and told Dh who promptly went down and had both of his. All very convenient.

Today I’ll walk little pooch over the fields , a bit of housework, make a leftover chicken and ham pasta bake and then off to Bridge club.

Love that pic of your gs, Mizuna. Just what little boys should be enjoying.

Happy anniversary Ash and Olddudders. 🍾🥂.

Glad you’re off to your happy place FGT2. We’re going to ours too, on Thursday. 👍.

Hope you all have a good day.🌻🍁

Good to have a rest from driving susan, please take breaks from the admin if you can.

Good plan FGT, no matter if raincoats are needed you’ll relax together.

A happy anniversary to you both ash. 🥂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 29-Oct-24 08:56:09

Happy anniversary wishes to you Ashcombe and Dudders! Celebrate next year the big 10! 🎊

What an amazingly atmospheric photo Mizuna so beautiful. Clever son putting rocks to make a fire pit. I wouldn’t even think to do that! Not that I’ve ever made a fire outside in my life … 😁

Aw Marydoll so sweet and yes, innocent to hear Dollie’s description of her bath time. A lovely age isn’t it? L’il Miss will be 8 in January so I think they are a similar age? 🥰

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 29-Oct-24 09:03:31

Oops we’ve checked the weather … glorious fat sunshines from Saturday onwards in Málaga! (They do say the sun shines on the righteous 🤣).

Good morning Mick and all from your northwest coast convalescent. Uncomfortable in the night and took some paracetamol. I’m weaning myself off them and eating a little more.
Finished my book by the Railway Children author (her adult fiction). Very good, now on to another. As I’m not advised to sing until January, I will get back to painting when up to it and yesterday caught up with a couple of friends on the phone.

DD still here and I’m hoping to pop into the music club this afternoon, I may stay just a little while and see how much I can cope with. I’ve showered and washed my hair. All routine things seeming large ones…

Happy anniversary Ash, good to get away FGT (I’m looking forward to my usual gadding about again), thoughts to Susan and all🌺

Litterpicker Tue 29-Oct-24 09:33:53

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It’s cloudy but bright so I’m hopeful of a dry day to meet up with DD3 and youngest DGDs. The 9 year old wants to do the charity shops!

I have one of these annoying colds that comes and goes. Yesterday I went to my bookclub in the morning and Tai Chi (very gentle, small group) after. I slept for over 2 hours on the sofa in the afternoon. DH also has cold/fluey virus but is much worse of course 😬.

I am surrounded by half-done ‘sorting out’ jobs - all my dresses, skirts, jackets and blouses are hanging over the bannister waiting for me to try them on and decide if I want to keep them - most of them are charity shop buys over the last few years, some bought new for an ‘occasion’, few worn in past year or two. I was enthusiastic about doing this six weeks ago but now I sigh when I think about it 😕

I will cheer myself up with a visit to the allotment where the big oak tree on one boundary should be in its autumn glory and the robin will join me while I turn the compost.

Happy Anniversary to Ash & OldD 🍾

Good morning everyone!

It's 12.2C here in little Appleby.

Had loads of rain yesterday and last night and it was gorgeous!

I have some good news! I was finally back to work yesterday 6am to 6pm after being off for a month with illness! All of my brilliant disabled residents hugged me or waved etc. as I came back in beaming ''good morning, cherubs!''

Had a brilliant day but what ruined it at the end was on my way home from work last night I went into the local convenience store, this was about 7pm, and as I was grabbing a couple of things for dinner ... a Chicken Balti and Rice Ready Meal and a bottle of Yazoo Banana and noticed this man watching me, everywhere I went in the store he seemed to be a few feet away .... I thought he might be an undercover security guard at first as they've started employing covert's but he seemed really creepy, or maybe he's not used to seeing a 6'2 well-built blond female! But I paid as quick as I could then jumped in my car and whizzed off!

Had dinner, did 1/2 hour of needle felting as there was nothing on TV to interest me then crashed to bed, happy and stuffed!

Grammaretto Tue 29-Oct-24 10:59:12

I'm a bit late today to join the GMers.
I have been reading your goings on.
Your DH has the right idea FGT 😄

It's a bright sunny day here on the cusp of the Scottish Borders and Edinburghshire.

My Helper has set off in his bicycle for his next adventure. I shall write him a wonderful review though he was partly poltergeist. Things kept exploding and breaking during his stay including the white bathroom curtains, like a ghost in the room.

I now have a friend from the North of Scotland staying for a few days.

Yesterday I went to the Georgian House with U3A. to see National Trust's exhibition of portraits of women by Alan Ramsey.

Today I shall help another friend with her pottery firing and plan my trip to the other side of Glasgow tomorrow for my hospital appointment.

Happy anniversary Ash

GrannySomerset Tue 29-Oct-24 11:20:31

I envy you the Alan Ramsey portrait exhibition, Grammaretto, I love his work and don’t think he gets the recognition he deserves.
