My gravy boat

Has anyone seen it?

DH usually unpacks the dishwasher and is quite good at it normallygrin

But, he seems to have mislaid the gravy boat. I don't use it often but really need it today.

You could try the freezer - that's where I sometimes find odd things that go missing. Packets of tights, keys, new tea towels...

Probably the same place my casserole pot lid is 🤣🤣🤣

Decide to use a jug, warm it, add gravy and gravy boat will then materialise. Guaranteed to work.

I have a gravy boat but isn’t big enough for my lot who like to drown their roast dinner in grave so also use a Pyrex jug, obvs that isn’t as good a look but my lot don’t notice.
Perhaps look in the bin, I tend to chuck stuff away without thinking, or maybe if ‘somebody’ broke when unloading the dishwasher it would end up in the bin 😉

Your DH has broken and hidden it at the back of a drawer like the 2nd Mrs De Winter did with a priceless porcelain ornament. Is he the 2nd Mr De Lester?

Really?
😂
I have to say that whenever any chocolate goes missing it tends to end up in the top drawer of my bedside table.
A total mystery 🫣

Witzend Fri 01-Nov-24 14:16:05

Are you sure it’s not broken and hidden under other stuff in the bin?? 😦

Aldom Fri 01-Nov-24 14:28:38

Try the salad drawer in the fridge. My friend found her engagement ring in her salad drawer, but her wedding ring has yet to materialise. grin

You can have one of mine kittylester. I have accumulated 4 from somewhere?? Two stainless steel and two large white china ones. Take your pick. 😄

Kate1949 Fri 01-Nov-24 14:38:51

You can borrow mine. It's Pyrex Chelsea pattern, the last remaining piece of a dinner service we received as a wedding present in 1969.

Thanks for the offers of a loan gravy boat. I do have others but that one is 'the' one.

Allira Fri 01-Nov-24 15:56:33

Yes, try the bin, surreptitiously placed and wrapped in newspaper!

Tesco was selling plain white ones today if that's any help.

Allira Fri 01-Nov-24 15:59:15

I had a lovely, unusual one years ago with matching saucer but Someone Who Shall Not Be Named broke it.
The saucer was fine but that's no use on its own.

I lost my potato peeler. A couple of years went by and emptying the compost heap there it was.

ferry23 Fri 01-Nov-24 17:33:01

If you find it, just check to see if my Turkish olive dish is nearby please.

foxie48 Fri 01-Nov-24 17:47:04

Perhaps it sailed away! I'm a "keeper" whereas Mr Foxie is a "throw away" sort of guy. It totally infuriates me to find a treasured but little used "thing" is awol but because Mr Foxie pretends to be a bit absent minded he never admits to throwing it away so I spend time looking for it.

Could be an Agatha Christie style mystery. The unfortunate case of the missing gravy boat.
Is it kitty who is conveniently pleading ignorance?
Is it her DH, who has hidden the evidence in the flower beds?
Or is it the mysterious ‘gravy boat robber’?
The plot ‘thickens’.
🤔

I found it. And suspect it was me!!!!blush

It was in the grill co.partment of the cooker. I MAY have put it there to get warm. No idea why I didn't use it at the time.

Aveline Fri 01-Nov-24 18:19:34

Phew. I've been checking to see it it's turned up. Glad it has.

Oh good!

I hope Mr Lester didn't get into trouble 😀

I didn’t think to look in the salad drawer when I lost my engagement ring and wedding ring years ago.

When my daughter lost her wedding and engagement rings a few years ago, my husband went through her kitchen bin, and there they were.
She’s getting divorced now, because he was controlling and abusive. She threw her wedding ring in the river, she was so distressed.

Incidentally I have got replacement rings now. In fact, my husband upgraded my second engagement ring about five years ago again, and we went together to Hatton Garden to choose the diamond. The same jeweller who made the new ring made my second diamond into a diamond pendant for my daughter.

Kate1949, I didn't know that Pyrex did gravy boats; I googled yours and it's lovely.

I have one china one (Royal Doulton Diana), and one cheap glass from the dollar store. The family dinners are getting more populated, so we set us two tables now. I suppose I could source another china one, but I only need a second one 3 tunes a year.

CanadianGran Fri 01-Nov-24 19:46:15

And Kittylester, I'm glad you found it!
