Don’t watch if you’ve been recently bereaved. It’s too much.
Has anyone watched it all the way through. I can’t.

Bridie22 Sat 09-Nov-24 07:50:21

The Christmas ads I've watched so far seem to be lacking santas!! and christmas trees, more holiday type,
Although saw Kevin carrot...it was rather good 🎅

Have a look at the Barbour ad online with Shaun the Sheep. An Ardman classic!

I find John Lewis Christmas adverts never cheerful. I seem to remember think it was last years, where a child looked through a telescope. I will try my best not to watch this years. No Christmas adds encourage me to shop at any certain shop anyway.

Same thoughts here.
Anything mournful is out for me also anything with a banquet piled high along a table.

It's too sad😔

There seems to be an exciting mix of Christmas advertisements this year .
I enjoyed Dawn French's celebration of Christmas , but my favourite is the BFG for Sainsburies .

Sorry all for misleading you. Someone posted a link to the John Lewis advert and I watched that. I also googled it and came up with the same add but was obviously wrong.
You are quite right it was Sam Clegg,
My apologies to John Lewis.

I wonder what JL think of Sam’s annual video RosiesMaw2 ?

The robin advert isn’t John Lewis, it is Sam Clegg who makes a JL ‘inspired’ advert every year for charity.

John Lewis have released a teaser of their’s called Never Knowingly , about a pink jumper.

Thank you! Faith in JL restored 😀

The social worker
Put the advert in freesheet to drum up fake work. Also family round corner to me took in 2 girls and a boy who pissed everyone off. After they had several police round they got rid of them And had to put the house up for sale. Lazy sods must have been raking it in!

And this one?confusedconfused

Someone pissed someone off by pissing up a wall apparently.
🙂

Will never shop there again the fostering advert Essex spent 5.3 billions 5 years ago. God knows how much they are pissing up the wall on it now. Middle class hobby we can't afford

Does anybody understand what this post is about?

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Nov-24 10:53:38

We do have a rather good John Lewis in Chelmsford which is our County City

Allira Sun 03-Nov-24 10:50:04

How was John Lewis raking it in ie £5.3 billions?
What has Essex got to do with the John Lewis advert?

Sorry, still 🤔

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Nov-24 10:46:22

Sorry Whingey how are those unfortunate children John Lewis’s fault?

Allira Sun 03-Nov-24 10:42:52

The spoof JL ads can be funny.

However, as I haven't seen this one yet, I don't know if anything amusing could be made of it. Not from what I've read on here so far.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 03-Nov-24 10:28:02

Google is your friend Whingey

The most expensive John Lewis Christmas Campaign was in 2007 and totalled £6,000,000.

Whingey Sun 03-Nov-24 10:23:47

Actually I saw 5.3 billions in a free magazine delivered all over Essex. Boy and girl eating candy floss on the pier. Least needy children I ever saw

Bridie22 Sun 03-Nov-24 09:44:55

Haven't seen the ad yet, but look forward to this year's " Kevin " the carrot Christmas one from Aldi 🎅

keepingquiet Sun 03-Nov-24 09:38:21

I think the great days of Christmas advertising are well and truly over.

As a child I loved them, but with live-streaming who watches TV ads anymore?

John Lewis for me is no more than another shopping site since my local one closed.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 03-Nov-24 09:29:57

Well it’s John Lewis’ (profit) money to spend isn’t it Whingey? Big businesses do as they think best to generate customer spending. Nothing to do with taxpayers money. Big difference. Actually I don’t imagine it was ‘billions’ either ut that’s semantics.

The John Lewis ad is not the Robin and gentlemen.

John Lewis Christmas campaign is around think before you gift the pink jumper ad is a preliminaries one before the full Christmas campaign starts after 11/11.

Sam Clegg makes a tear jerker video each year around loneliness at Christmas.
