Good morning from the Angus coast where the sun has just risen. We're forecast sunshine and cloud all day which is an improvement on the dank and dreary last couple of days. That dampness permeates everything, doesn't it.
Just picking up from previous posts about what is happening across the Pond. Heaven help us all, and how can so many people be so blind. I've loathed him ever since he waltzed into Scotland shouting Land Mine! and grabbing a large swathe of Aberdeenshire for a golf course and demanding that there should be no wind farm off the coast because it would spoil the view. He will never be forgiven!
Yesterday after tai chi I just came home and had a much-needed relaxing afternoon after the excitement of DGD3's 19th birthday at the weekend. Today is the dental hygienist, which doesn't really bother me, but next month is The Dentist and a filling and I have collywobbles about that already! I'm not at all brave. Good luck with your lovely new dentist Corner.
Bank with the tai chi money, and the weekly shop after that - another exciting day!
Enjoy your day everyone ☀️

Lovely to see you back Kalu. My best wishes to you 💐

Good morning dear friends. It’s dry in Glasgow at last.

I’m still adjusting to my new normal and new title of ‘widow’.
I have finally got a handle on the mountain of admin which is my sole responsibility now which had to be dealt with at a time all I wanted to do was crawl into a corner and grieve..

I continue to think of the quote; ‘don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened’.

Thankfully with a dry day ahead I can spend it in the garden, my place which is the best therapy for me.

Wishing everyone a good day along with thoughts for those with ongoing worries and struggles.

Good morning from W Kent where the Dickensian mist is rolling off the river.
We are off to have our eyes tested and have a bit of lunch.
Best wishes

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and dry but very gloomy which matches my mood. Karma you are an inspiration as are many people on this thread. GrandMattie I'm glad you managed to get your poa sorted. Poor practise from that lawyer.
Yesterday was a reasonable day with dgs2. Both boys began the day grumpy because they were tired after late fireworks the night before in their area. However that changed when we reached school. Dgs1 got involved in a game of football with one of his friends and was a much happier boy. I bumped into the gran of one of his friends who I used to work with. She's an incredibly talented writer and involved in film festivals in Wales. She writes screenplays and short stories. We stood and blethered for a while until Dgs2 got fed up listening and needed to move. Dgs2 was delighted when I produced new paints, brushes and paper at home. And he produced two masterpieces. Then we spent time in the garden potting the rest of the bulbs and he got stuck in helping. After I'd dropped them off home, DD sent a photo of dgs1 looking very woebegone. His face is a mess. Apparently he slipped coming out of his swimming lesson venue and smashed his face. Poor boy.
Today I have an art class. I have footered for weeks now and produced nothing decent, so focus is required today. Have a good day all.

GM You know you can do the POA yourself .
You download the form and then work through the instructions.
People seem to think you need a solicitor. Saves a lot if money.
Have a great day everyone.

I know, but since the scam, I have lost all, every shred, of self confidence.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve a beautiful pink sky and a mild dry day forecast for later
A result gMattie well done 👍
Hope you feel ok today Oops
Yesterday my pal talked me into going to a line dancing class, it was good fun with lots of laughter. Today we’re going to Zumba so I’m looking forward to that. I really need to get back to going to the gym as it makes me feel so much better and I enjoy the socialising too.
Pleased you found your cat ok BlueSapphire without too much worry
Enjoy your evening ginny sounds goods fun
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning. A little damp in N. Bucks but dry enough for DH to go to golf.
Busy day for me. Pastry to make and lots of bits and pieces to get together for craft club this afternoon.
Also a table arrangement for this evening s WI . It’s our AGM and we have a ploughman’s supper with games. It makes the AGM fun and we usually get a good turnout.
Wishing you all a good day with a smile along the way.

Good morning from another dull day.
I suddenly had Vertigo yesterday evening after a day of packing with MissOops. Went to bed early and sat up in the dark for a couple of hours, then nodded off.
I seem to be a lot better this morning, just nauseous and a head ache.
Today was an indoors day anyway, so hopefully I’ll be ok for the rest of the week. Damned nuisance.
Have a good day everyone, hugs for those who are stressed, unhappy or unwell.

Redcar Wed 06-Nov-24 07:33:35

Good morning everyone. Essex is grey, damp and mild this morning. America obviously not ready for a woman president!
I see Farage is there too! I wonder if there’ll be any other news today.
I had a problem with my smoke detector on Sunday, called out the electrician who installed it recently, and typically, he came yesterday afternoon while I was out. He hadn’t told me he was coming, hopefully he’ll come today when I’m in all day.
I’ll have a sort out of old flower pots in the garden and shed today, then get on with packing up my things to go to DD1s after my operation. I’ll take the stuff over to her tomorrow.
gm I’m glad you are finally getting your POA sorted out. I did mine myself, fairly lengthy forms to fill out online, but doable.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from another dull and gloomy Black Country.

A quiet day yesterday, pottering. Today, no real plans, have a delivery due of 2 tops I ordered. That will be today's excitement! Plus making chicken and veg soup.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 06-Nov-24 07:29:35

Good morning everyone from a grey Málaga. That was a surprise to wake up to! Dark clouds over Bill’s mother’s. Think we will stay local. 😁

The outside of the building is being painted. Contractors arrived on Monday wielding paint rollers, ropes from the rooftop to suspend the gantries where 3 men in overalls work,-yards of polythene covers to go over all the railings etc. we all share the bill some €300 per apartment. (220 of us). Pale terracotta and cream again. It will look very smart next time we are out.

I see Hilary Mantel’s ‘The Mirror & the Light’ is being serialised (Mark Rylance as Cromwell and Damian Lewis as Henry VIII again, yippee!) 3 episodes starting Sunday on BBC1. I can’t wait! I loved the trilogy and went to London back in the day to see Wolf Hall on stage.

BlueSapphire Wed 06-Nov-24 07:19:00

Good morning everyone from a dark and foggy Northampton. Hate this miserable weather, although it was good to get out on our health walk yesterday, made all the more enjoyable by the lovely lemon drizzle cake afterwards!
I also managed to get to the library as they emailed me to say that my reserved book was in.

One of the cats went missing when I went to feed them last night - called and called her, looked under all the beds, opened wardrobes, no sign until I opened the coat cupboard in the hall and there she was. She must have got in when I was putting my boots away late afternoon, so was in there for a couple of hours at least. Silly cat!

A morning of pottering then out to the cinema again this afternoon. Shall be watching 'Small Things Like These', set in Ireland at the time of the infamous laundries. I want to see it as it was a book club choice last year, and we all enjoyed it despite the subject matter.

Shall call in to the veg stall on the market on my way back to the bus afterwards for potatoes and onions. Also need to get a gift bag and wrap for DGD1's birthday present.

Spanish pork casserole for dinner tonight, pluswine!

Hope today goes well for all.

GrannySomerset Wed 06-Nov-24 07:12:36

Need to be on parade early as have people coming to insulate the loft, long overdue and should help reduce fuel bills a bit. Shan’t get much done, I fear, and will miss singing unless they are quicker than they say they will be but I have been waiting so didn’t want to say no when a last minute date came up.

Am horrified by the emerging news from the US. It will be a long day.

Good morning all from a still grey North Leicestershire.

Our cleaner will arrive at 9 and DH will go to the gym. We have a domestic planning meeting this afternoon! I really need to plan!!

I am supporting a followup Carer Learning zoom session this evening.

I had a lovely time yesterday having lunch with a fellow gner and a mutual friend and I think we might have persuaded her to join our number.

Have the best day possible.

RosesandLilac Wed 06-Nov-24 06:59:48

Good morning, it’s dry here in south Glos and the window cleaner has just arrived- DH is downstairs so he can deal with him while I drink my coffee and browse GN.
Thankfully there weren’t any fireworks near us yesterday, the dog is terrified of loud noises, so a peaceful evening here. DH went off to the village ones, dog and I watched ‘Dogs behaving badly’ and enjoyed a cuddle.
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹

GrannyGravy13 Wed 06-Nov-24 06:50:01

Good morning all.

We had a lovely evening here with DD and GSs yesterday, quiet fireworks and an indoor BBQ. Happy children = happy us 💙🩷

Today, bed change, washing then off to the gym. I have to get a little something for a dear friend’s birthday tomorrow.

Wishing you a good day 🙋‍♀️

cornergran Wed 06-Nov-24 06:49:06

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset is forecast another mild, Eeyore weather day.

Dentist was so much better than anticipated. To cut a long story short I’ve been booked for a necessary filling with an experienced dentist who uses a ground floor room (no more difficult stairs). The major bonus is she specialises in nervous patients. If we get along we can both be re-allocated to her NHS list. Pleased? You bet I am.

Routine morning ahead. Grocery delivery and dust removal. A steroid injection to a knee this afternoon, the first helped with mobility for seven months so worth another try. I’ll also ask her opinion on my left hand, it’s becoming a very odd shape. A garden centre stop on the way home will round off the day.

Heard yesterday our TaiChi group is on hold from the end of November. The instructor is over committed. There will be a break while Age UK identify a new group leader. Really disappointed and hope they can recommence soon.

A battle won grandmattie. I’m so pleased for you.

Thinking of everyone with personal mountains to climb. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.

Good morning all from a dark but dry Black country.
DS phoned yesterday Dgs2 has hand foot and mouth so would I be able to help out at playgroup today in place of DiL, so that's my day sorted glad we're booked for a carvery later because I do believe the plan is for the little ones to do baking.
The car was picked up for MOT an hour later they rang to say the ramp was broken so unable to do will need to rebook, you would think a main dealer had more than one ramp.
Have a good day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️

Bellasnana Wed 06-Nov-24 06:25:41

Good morning from Malta where it is going to be sunny and 23°C.

I wasted the day yesterday, couldn’t seem to get my motivation going so I must not repeat the performance today.

Have a good day all.☀️

Greyduster Wed 06-Nov-24 06:08:49

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but set to be a misty day apparently. Our writers group is cancelled today so I may take a trip into town on the tram instead. Apart from that, nothing much planned.
Have the best day you can folks.

grandMattie Wed 06-Nov-24 06:05:44

Good morning from Bristol.
Very noisy evening with fireworks from both the local park and cricket ground on the other side. It’s too built up for me to see, and I’m on the ground floor.
I had fantastic news yesterday! I’ve been trying to get a PoA sorted out since March. A string of misunderstandings and omissions meant that nothing has been done. Early last month I wrote to the National company’s local office, with no reply. I wrote again to the head office, the local office and the solicitor; still nothing.
At the end of last month, I wrote to the CEO at head office with copies to the others two, asking for a completion, or a refund by 20 November otherwise I’d go to the press and small claims court.
Yesterday afternoon, the HO complaint manager called me, was effusively apologetic, etc., thanking me for my restrained and courteous letter. The result is that, although he offered to sort it out locally, I refused and am expecting a full refund. I shall go to a small local company I trust. The solicitor dealing with my PoA “no longer works for the company”. I wonder why? But at last something will be moving.
We also had a complex budget meeting. Our fees will inevitably go up, but the new NI increases haven’t yet been included….
Today, I’m going to spend sewing stuff for the church craft sale next week. (Do you remember “sales of work”?)
My thoughts with you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Morning all from West Oxfordshire.

It looks as if that man will be back in the White House. What have you done America? This is wrong on so many levels.

A busy day today. It is the WI coffee morning in the village cafe. This is usually a hoot. OH and I are having lunch out. Another ancient pub in the middle of nowhere. Then, it is WI committee at 6 pm.

Have a good day everyone.

karmalady Wed 06-Nov-24 05:58:26

Good morning from s somerset, mist and damp all day

I had a very tough job on the allotment yesterday, lots of difficult sawing, went to bed aching. Feeling fine today so I am going there, just for half an hour. Tip run after that and maybe I can get some cakes of yarn wound up from skeins

Just an easy day today, perhaps even tidying my sewing room and putting my machines to bed for winter

Have a good day
