Good Morning Thursday 7th November 2024

Good morning from a dull and grey Black Country, where it rained overnight.

Thursday walk today with my Walk and Chat group. We are walking along the canal to a village where a pub does marvellous Cobs!

This afternoon, a drive over to Mums to take her food shopping. Then I will stay overnight, as we have an early morning start Friday to go to the Memory Cafe Friday morning. Then in the afternoon a visit from a Care Company to see about possible visits for her. Not sure how that will go down!

A walk with U3A today to stop me seizing up. It's around a local reservoir so will be rather wet and slippery.

The loft insulators were discouraged by a very old wasp nest and filled the loft with spray and went away again to return on Friday to actually do the job so my early start was for nothing. Singing and then local history society filled the rest of the day very nicely, and today I have lunch with friends and not much else planned.

Good morning from Durham. Another still, grey day, but it’s dry and as it’s November - it’s not bad. Saw both DGSs last night - both very different in looks and personalities. I’ve done DD2’s bedding, but I don’t think it’ll dry properly outdoors.

I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, then home to do some admin and cleaning. SinL is coming to collect Little Dog later, who has a 5pm grooming session in Newcastle.

I haven’t seen my hedgehogs for weeks - I’m hoping nothing’s wrong and they’re just hibernating.

DH’s friend and dog mentor lived near Chirk - I seem to remember half way up a mountain!

Good morning from the now usual grey still Suffolk. It was a bit colder yesterday so that felt autumnal.

I’m off to Norwich this morning to meet my dear friend from Essex. She is the one I travelled with to India last October. She is an intrepid traveller having had 4 long haul trips this year.

We are having lunch and then going to see an exhibition of paintings by JW Turner in the Castle museum. The museum always has interesting exhibitions on a variety of subjects and is usually quiet and no need to book tickets……an easy venue to visit.

I hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning from gloomy south Glos where it’s drizzling. The dog has joined me on the bed while I have my coffee.
Yesterday was spent making tomato soup, liver treats for the dog and generally faffing around.
This afternoon I have art group, looking forward to seeing everyone there.
The dog and I will head out for a walk once I’m up, I do enjoy our time outside.

Good morning from Málaga where we’ve had rain in the wee small hours. The terraced area in the gardens is very wet! But the sun’s out now and 23°C is forecast later. That’ll do nicely. 😊

We heard last night that L’il Miss has gone up a group in her swimming lessons and the Boy Wonder came second of of his year group in cross country. Our boy does love running! Grandad suggested Domino’s pizzas as a treat from us Saturday night and the children were delighted! 🍕😁

I’m glad your new PP is like he is Marydoll. I always felt the old one got you to do the work he was paid to do. I wonder what his new parish think.

I’m off out this morning. I may go to B&M and also pick up my prescription depending on time. My microwave needs to be replaced so I’ve been looking at them online but will visit a store to purchase. I also need to book my car in for a service.

Good morning all from a dreary grey day here in Essex.

Yesterday was so exciting - two friends and I went to Egypt and climbed the pyramids via Virtual Reality. It was scary, amazing and magical. How they do it I’ll never know.

Today I have bowls group and this afternoon Dd and little DGD will come in after school, have tea and then we’ll take her to Brownies.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and bright. Ash safe journey to your DH. Marydoll enjoy your day with Baby doll. Our local garden centre used to have fish tanks but no more.
Yesterday I enjoyed art class immensely. We chatted throughout. I did a pastel of an autumn tree at night and was fairly happy with it. I intend to do it as a mixed media on a bigger board.
Today will be a quiet day. I was up for a couple of hours in the night, unable to sleep, so I'm tired today. I will head to the local newsagent for two copies of the local paper. Dgs1's class photo is in it and dd has asked that I get her a copy. Otherwise I'll potter in the house and garden. Have a good day all

Went shopping with sister and BIL, the local supermarket is huge but I could not find things I wanted. Certain shelves were empty especially in the salad section.
Bumped into a neighbour at the checkout, haven't seen her to talk to for a couple of years.
Nothing important happening today so will catch up with TV and read my book.

Morning from the ubiquitous grey skies in the UK, I’m wondering if it’s an alien ship as in the film Indépendance Day.
Chased around pharmacies yesterday to track down prescribed medication, fuelled up my car, planted a few tulips and went for a walk. I’m expecting a delivery of asters today, so they’ll need to go in.
The small refurb in our local looks very smart, I’m hoping for a proper look today before it reopens tomorrow.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, gloomy Carlisle.
The sun actually tried to break through late yesterday afternoon but didn't quite succeed.
I got out in the garden in the morning and planted a shrub in my rather wet clayey area. This will be my third attempt at getting something to succeed. A Mahonia this time.
After lunch, I spent ages trying to get the National Rail enquiries site to work. The problem seems to be my end apparently...I click forward to the prices page for my chosen time and get a blank page, time after time. In the end I went straight to the train company, fortunately I knew which one.
Tickets for Christmas travel seem to be selling fast with first class already fairly full.

Today I will be ironing then awaiting a Tesco delivery. After that, more train tickets to be got, for an impending trip to Newcastle.

Good morning from a dull and grey County Durham. I've often been a lurker on this thread and really admire how you all support each other.
Yesterday DH and I took on the loft challenge and all we have stored up there now are Christmas decorations. Finally DD college work, DH art folder from secondary school, my old dolls, one of 65 years of age which I was going to keep, but discovered her head had broken, were dumped. Old photos sorted plus vinyl 45's. I'm so pleased it's now done.
I also found a very damning college report which I had never seen before belonging to DD2 She was missing lessons plus not handing in work. I'm pleased I never knew at the time as she obviously sorted herself out and maybe my intervention would not have helped. She went on to university, did extremely well and is now a well respected deputy head with such understanding and empathy for any struggling pupils. She is a treasure.
GD1, 12 years old, is on her way to Poland, Lancet, this morning representing GB in a Gymnastics competition this weekend. She was in Turin earlier in the year where her trio reached 2nd place.
I'm so excited for her as she works so hard but loves Gymnastics and dancing so much that training is not a chore.
We're off to Beamish Museum shortly to stretch our legs,
get some much needed fresh air and enjoy the last of the Autumn leaves.

My pianist friend has moved into his new house not far from his old one but one of his cats hasn’t settled, keeps disappearing, so he’s worried.

Good morning everyone from a very dull and grey Northampton, no sign of it brightening up at all.

Sainsbury's delivery this morning, and this afternoon I may go to Timpsons to pick up my duvet, and also M&S if my orders have both arrived.
Before that am planning on doing the kitchen floor and also both bathrooms.

Went to the cinema again yesterday, to see 'Small things like these'; had read the book for book club last year and was interested to see how it transferred to screen. Was a rather gloomy film in more ways than one - a rather drab Ireland in the 50s/60s, with numerous oblique references to the secretive Magdalen laundry in the town. Cillian Murphy was good as the family man/coal merchant who realised that the convent and nuns had a dark secret that the town knew nothing about. Had enough of 'serious' films now - shall be glad to see Paddington in Peru on Sunday!

Welcome, Annypop from another Co Durham poster!! Georgesgran and Harrigran are also in our beautiful part of England. I’m ashamed to admit I’ve not been to Beamish for 20 years. In the new 50’s village is a coffee bar I went to as a teenager.
My sister and brother in law arrive this morning. Haven’t seen them for six months. So looking forward to seeing them. Going to our local pub/restaurant tonight along with our dgd, both dd’s and their partners.
