Good Morning Monday 11th November 2024
(46 Posts)Good morning from another dry morning in Bristol.
I had a very quiet day yesterday. I didn’t go to church as I find the Remembrance service very difficult.
Instead, I made loads of marmalade; my stocks are very low and I have a particularly busy week coming up. The sales seem to have taken off very quickly; unfortunately I don’t have access to free fruit here, like I did in Kent thanks tom5he generosity of local farmers.
I spent the afternoon doing very little, but managed to wash and label the jars.
Today, my neighbour is taking me to Lidl again, to try to get some poinsettia, Christmas cactus and my favourite amaryllis, then on to the usual Tesco.
In the afternoon, the vicar is taking me shopping for stuff required for the setting up of a new weekly FAB cafe on Wednesday; I’m the church host.
May the week be kind to you. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire.
I’m waiting for the machine to finish making my coffee. I’ve been awake for ages. Sod’s Law as I could have done with dozing off again.
I’m doing a shortish shift in the charity shop this morning to see how I get on. I’ve missed it so hopefully my body won’t let me down although the thing which is giving me gyp at the moment is my thumb. I think it’s RSI from crocheting. Hey ho.
It’s been lovely to see Kalu back on this thread.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry. Baubles good luck at the charity shop. I hope it goes well for you.
Yesterday was busy. I had the boys for three hours in the morning and they were very good. I made a large slow cooker pot of lentil soup and prepared the Christmas puddings mixture. In the afternoon I visited mum where I encountered an unpleasant nurse who has twice now made comments about me, being a stranger. I find it rude.
Today is early childcare day. School drop off, then Tesco for the boys magazines then playgroup drop off then repeat in reverse. Have a good day all
Morning Mick, morning All. Too dark out there to check the weather. The forecast is good for our corner of Somerset, dry with some sun. 🤞 it’s right.
Lots of tv watching yesterday. With little sleep last night it’s an active day ahead. A trip to the GP surgery morning and afternoon for an appointment each. In between a tip trip, another charity shop drop off, an item to return to B&Q with coffee and lunch back home somewhere in the mix.
Good luck this morning baubles. Go gently. Hope your plant shopping is successful mattie.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Goodness grandmab. No need for that. I’m quite cross on your behalf.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a still dark South Yorkshire. It’s supposed to be a decent day weather wise today so I shall get some laundry done and on the line early, and then wash my car and nip over to M&S at our local mall. I didn’t see a lot of DS yesterday. He dropped in after the match and had a quick coffee before he drove home. I wish he’d had time to eat with us as DD and her family were here for a roast dinner and there was plenty of food - too much really as GS, unusually, was not very hungry. He even refused pudding, but did take some home.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning from Cornwall where it's dry with sun promised today. I'm catching an early bus to our main hospital for an induction day sfter which I can start volunteering there. It's been on hold due to my knee replacement so I'm glad it's happening at last.
Lovely time at the cinema yesterday and a good chat at my place afterwards with my 14-year-old grandson and his mum. We all love film, especially animation.
Good morning from a still dark Essex coast. We are forecast some sun today.
I've been awake for hours, lots on my mind at the moment.
DH is finally having a hearing check this morning after a lot of 'persuading' from me, I'm sick of repeating myself !!
We have to visit two banks as well so a necessary early morning into town.
Have a good day everyone xx
Goodmorning from s somerset, sunny and dry today, at last
All day at the allotment yesterday and two trips to recycling. I did a lot of heavy stuff yesterday, big roots and one massive root, almost too heavy to lift into my wheelbarrow. I made good progress but was so achy after that and very tired in the evening. I met three more nice people and one gave me some spare veg
Today, I am going to carry on getting roots out I have 2 small plus 2 others, fingers crossed that those are not as massive. Once they are out I will be taking it easier.
I am being single-minded at the moment, I know that but I see progress
Have a good day
Good morning from a from a dry, calm Torbay. Yesterday, we actually saw some sunshine late on with a splendid sunset!
A long rehearsal yesterday which included a fire drill was necessary but not enjoyable although the one director in attendance seemed pleased with our efforts. Another cast member, playing Badger, has had to withdraw as he’s in hospital with pneumonia. That makes four of the cast needing hospital treatment with three having to withdraw completely! Today I have an optician’s appointment, Move It or Lose It and another rehearsal.
How rude that nurse was to you, Grandmabatty. Quite uncalled for.
I’m sure you’ll like being back in the swing of things at the charity shop, baubles.
Have a good week, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning from a damp hillside in south Glos, we actually had a few minutes of sunshine yesterday!
Off for a dog walk as soon as it’s light then I will start tidying the front borders, prune the roses and do the weeding. Nothing too drastic as I know there’s a lot of insects still around, including bumblebees.
I will get on with Dgs1’s replacement socks today, I finished his brother’s pair yesterday.
Have a nice day 🌹
Good morning from a very wet Malta.
An early start for me as littlest is poorly again. He has an ear infection and his asthma is bad. Had to go twice to the health centre yesterday to go on the nebuliser. Fortunately it is just around the corner and little ones get seen immediately. If things are really bad they refer you to the main hospital.
DD3 is an acute asthmatic and it seems littlest has inherited it unfortunately.
I didn’t go to Mass yesterday, a friend asked me for coffee and then I went home to watch the Remembrance Day ceremony from the Cenotaph. It always makes me cry. I wonder what those who gave their lives would make of the mess we’ve made of the world.
Will be back to read posts later as little one needs my attention.
Wishing a good day to all. ☀️
Good morning from Durham. It’s forecast cool and cloudy, but at least it’s dry. After seeing Paddington in Peru yesterday, I managed to lose the arm (leg?) from my glasses. I’ve a spare pair, but need to get the others fixed, so I’ll drop them off on my way to meet a friend for coffee. I’ve no idea what the afternoon will bring, but I should wash some hard floors.
Best wishes to all. X
Morning everyone I think I can see a break in the grey sky, I do hope so as the constant gloom is really affecting me.
I was kept awake by a very sore throbbing finger, my fault I didn’t check my gardening gloves thoroughly and there was a wasp in one of the fingers who objected to sharing and stung rather viciously!
Off to the gym this morning then I intend to do some more Xmas shopping online.
Enjoy the day 🙋♀️
Morning all from West Oxfordshire.
I had a dreadful night. I was still awake at 3 am and awake again at 7 am. I couldn’t stop fretting about our two sons and their falling out. My daughter too, who has been single since she and her partner split a couple of years ago. The early hours can be a bad time to be awake!
Our cleaner is coming tomorrow instead of today. I have the usual shopping to do as well as dropping things off at a charity shop. My friend over the road has her monthly craft afternoon so I’m looking forward to that.
Have a good day.
Good morning all from a cloudy North Leicestershire.
We had a lovely weekend with DD2 and co but it was nice to sit down when they left.
Today, I am planning to make mince pies before I have a zoom Carer's course at lunch time. This afternoon we are going to order a new cooker. We bought a new one when we had the kitchen refitted last year but it was a very poor choice and we have admitted defeat.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from Shropshire. The sun is forecast to make an appearance today.
We are driving down to West Wales shortly to attend the funeral of a family member.Life is definitely challenging us at the moment but as DH said at least it will be different views on todays drive!
Grandmabatty there is one nurse on mum’s ward who always makes a comment if we miss a day or two.I think if she ever had to tread this path she would know how physically and mentally exhausting it is.I think you have done incredibly well as you have been dealing with the situation for so long💐
Ash will olddudders step in to the play?
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning all from the Black country, overnight rain but it looks like we may have a clearer day. We had some sunshine yesterday which was well received.
Housework and I have another bag for the charity shop, slowly but surely things are being decluttered.
Enjoy your day folks whatever your plans, and may you all find a little bit of ☀️
Good morning everyone from Málaga. So glad we went along the paseo yesterday and enjoyed the sunny afternoon, especially as I’ve just read in the SUR in English on line that Storm Dana will be revisiting from tomorrow night “Therefore, if the forecasts are correct, Escudero said that we are likely to have heavy rains along the Mediterranean coast and the Alboran Sea coast, including Malaga and the Costa del Sol”. It’s to do with the anti-cyclonic weather that’s stuck over Britain apparently.
Last night when I got up to use the bathroom about 2am I heard an owl hooting. Of course I never hear one at home and I find the sound soothing and magical in the dark with just a silvery moon glancing off the sea. It was very mild last night so we had the patio door open a crack and one of the balcony windows, which is why I heard the “hoo-hoot” several times till I drifted back off. Lovely.
We are meeting neighbour friends for lunch in Juan’s this afternoon, the ones who hail from Glasgow but left 25 years ago! Be good to spend a couple of hours in their company.
I’ve posted a photo from the marina yesterday. You can just about see the yellow/orange tip of a Bird of Paradise. I love that exotic plant! The weather was glorious. I think I’ll strip the beds today while we still have a sunny day to dry the sheets!
Good morning everyone from a brighter Northampton, sun is forecast today; about time too!
Had a lovely day yesterday; into town in the morning, where I caught the end of the outdoor Remembrance service commemoration in the town centre. Had a browse around the shops, bought a few cards, then was tempted by (and succumbed to) a lightweight fleecy jacket in Primark - thought it would be ideal for cooler evenings indoors.
Then met my friend at the cinema, where we enjoyed Paddington in Peru, accompanied by Marmalade Juice cocktails! (In reality, vodka and orange juice!)
Then home, where I was picked up by DD and DS-in-law, and out to the local Beefeater where we met DS and family, to celebrate DGD's 17th birthday. Everyone in good spirits and we had a lovely time. DGD seemed pleased with her present - I had got her a neat little shoulder bag,.which she used immediately. I had the most delicious fillet steak I have had in a long time. DD, DD-out-law and I went without pudding, but had Espresso Martinis instead...
Back home and settled down to watch the new Hilary Mantel series, but fell asleep instead....
Yoga this morning, followed by coffee at the little cafe. Then home, where I need to make sure my sitting room looks spick and span for the coffee morning I am hosting tomorrow.
Bolognese (I think) for.dinner tonight.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry with cloudy grey skies, hopefully it’ll stay dry
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad night llfl hope you get some rest today
I’m off to DD2s this morning, there’s another house viewing this week so theres a bit of tidying and cleaning to help out with. She’s had another verbal offer on the house but nothing in writing so it’s not valid and unfortunately this potential buyer is from overseas so it’s complicated again. The last house chain she was in broke down at the last minute to overseas buyer problems so we’re not holding out much hope
Love the picture thanks FGT hope you don’t get too much rain over the coming days and enjoy your lunch out today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 6°C and dry.
Nothing much planned, apart from Mass, sort a couple of things at church and pick up a prescription. I plan to have a quiet day. My cough is back with a vengeance and I still don't have the test results, taken ten days ago.
I'm preparing myself for DH phoning Virgin Media, the TIVO box has given up the ghost. A (in denial) deaf DH, a foreign call centre, a DH who thinks he knows better and won't listen to advice, is a certain recipe for disaster.
Weeks ago, I received an email saying we could have an upgraded TIVO box. DH insisted it was a scam and refused to contact Virgin Media. He is the account holder, so of course they will only speak to him.
He had an error message on the TV last week, saying there were problems with the box, so he ignored it! Quelle surprise!
Last night he spent ages, switching the box on and off, ignoring my suggestions that it needed replaced. 😡
Once he went to bed, I performed a diagnostic check, it is indeed broken and we do need a new box. If only he hadn't been so blooming stubborn. He was so focused on getting out for his game of golf this morning, that he wasn't interested in what I had found out. It will be necessary to supervise his phone call to Customer Services. # controlling wife.
I am going to sound a very harsh and an uncaring wife. Please do not judge me. 😉
DH usually spends his afternoons, either dozing watching sport or American politics programmes, (I can get nowhere near the living room TV), but if he thinks he is going to watch his programmes in my conservatory and on my ancient TIVO box, he can think again! He has only himself to blame.😉
I'm sure you can sense my frustration with him. I of course, am perfect. 😇
Bella, my children all have asthma, inherited from me. Fortunately, we have a nebuliser at home, it has kept myself and my youngest out of hospital on many occasions. I hope your wee one improves today, so distressing for him, his parents and you. 💕
Good luck with the medical appointment and Baubles pace yourself.
Have a good day folks, whatever your plans.
Sounds slightly passive-aggressive behaviour from that nurse Grandmabatty. She’s saying it because she thinks you’re timid and she can get away with it - especially as she’s said it twice now cheeky madam. Call her out on it by saying “What do you mean by that?” if she says it again.
Good morning from a blue skied Suffolk. Yesterday we had a sunny day til early afternoon and it was so lovely to be walking with the sun on our faces.
Today I think the plan is to go to the beach at Dunwich where I imagine the huge car park there will be almost empty. Sadly though, the beach cafe will be closed as the owners enjoy a very well earned rest over the winter.
They work so hard over the very busy season as they are open usually 7 days a week.
Afterwards I think I should tackle the ironing pile and plant the remaining tulip bulbs. Hope today is a good one for all.
