Good Morning Tuesday 12th November 2024

Good morning, it’s dry, dark and chilly here in south Glos, hoping for more sunshine today.
I enjoyed being outside tidying the garden yesterday, three short stints between doing other things (I got puffed rather quickly ☹️), DH cut back the bigger plants and it’s looking better. I bought a dozen rosebuds indoors from pruning my roses, the last ones of the year. Today I will do a bit more.
The dog and I were out just after 7am, very peaceful and she enjoyed a very sniffy walk. DH took her out for a longer one late afternoon.
Little else planned for today!

Good morning from a dry Bristol. We did get some sunshine yesterday, but it was only quite late in the day.
It’s been very dry recently, quite unlike the west of Britain that I expected!
A big surprise yesterday morning. I had my (extremely rarely purchased) lottery tickets checked. I had a modest win! It buoyed me up for the day.
I had a successful day’s shopping | Lidl did have some poinsettia, only 5 but I wanted only 3 including one for my neighbour who has been taxi-ing me around. I also got the other plants.
The vicar and I got the necessary new mugs, etc, got the FAB cafe and we discussed the ins and outs of things thereof, which was very helpful. He also took my very heavy trolley his car - meaning I didn’t have to lug some 20 jars of marmalade to church.
Today, my hair “salon”, and a tai chi class outdoors.

Early start car going for MOT, last week that took it away then bought it back the ramp was broken at the garage.
Trip to Iceland as its 10% day, then back to do some ironing.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and dry. GrandMattie I love poinsettias but kill them so only buy one nearer Christmas.
Yesterday was both good and not so good. Dgs2 was on good form. He painted poppies at playgroup which were almost recognisable. He wanted to paint at my house so I got out his 'special paint' (it's in pots) and he produced two masterpieces. The not so good part was, I lifted one of the pots to put it away and the lid parted company with the pot which promptly fell, sending a spray of dark blue paint over the floor, radiator, tv stand, tv and, worst of all, onto my mustard colour velvet curtain. I cleaned up everything except the curtain. I'll let it dry and see if it brushes out. If not, I'll have to have it cleaned. Dgs2 was bemused by my antics. We did make seven Christmas puddings and he and his brother stirred mightily and made a wish.
Today I will tidy the kitchen while the boys have breakfast and watch tv. A quiet start to the day, hopefully. Then school drop off. I think dgs2 and I will venture to the park. He's reluctant to go out once in, but he needs fresh air and so do I. Have a good day all

Good morning from another wet day in Malta. Still a warm 22°C, low of 15°C.

I was awakened at 3.20am by a message from darling granddaughter in Florida. Bless her, she had forgotten the six hour time difference! We messaged back and forth and she promised to call me on Weds.

Couldn’t get back to sleep so made tea and am now at DD3’s looking after littlest who is a lot better today. Still coughing but it’s looser.

Marydoll I had no idea how serious asthma is until DD3 had it. She has had many hospital stays the worst being when she had pneumonia and her left lung collapsed. It was very frightening indeed. I’m sorry you and your children are also sufferers, it’s an awful illness.

We are promised thunderstorms all day so won’t be able to get out. Fortunately littlest is easy to entertain.

Morning Mick, morning All from a dark, dry chilly corner of Somerset.

All medical stuff here. My GP morning appointment to discuss the diagnosis of lupus made by the eye hospital saw me returning in the afternoon. GP wanted bloods taken ‘to see what else is going on’ and had added me to Mr C’s booked appointment. Fortunately the resident phlebotomist didn’t mind as the ever thorough GP had requested tests needing no less than seven phials of blood. A clear blue sky tempted us to the sea front where we had a thoroughly pleasant stroll and a coffee sat by the sea wall watching the waves.

More matters medical today as we’re off to the eye hospital this morning. It’s a long day, usually make it home around 7. While grateful for the buses I’m getting to wish the city was more accessible by car. Never mind, I’m getting excellent care, all that matters really.

Oh heck grandmab. Hope brushing does the trick. Your active life puts me to shame. Very tortoise like here these days.

Good morning from Cornwall where it's going to be sunny. Completed my induction at the hospital yesterday so now I just have to get my uniform and security lanyard and then I can begin. I've said I want to start volunteering in A&E first but can trial any department and see what suits me. The chemotherapy unit is another area I'm interested in. There were five of us among a lot of other staff being inducted yesterday and we were made to feel very valued. I love hospitals so am very much looking forward to this new role.

Today I must source a large glass jar so that I can fill it with home-made gingerbread men/sharks/dinosaurs for my grandson's birthday next week. May have coffee in Asda with my youngest son if he's free.

I have a lovely day meeting up with two GN pals, we first met as strangers but we are now firm friends, I shall be ever grateful to GN for this gift.

Asthma is horrid, it lulls you into a false sense of security that all is well then tears up when you least expect it 🤬

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Just getting light in South Yorkshire. Yesterday was a lovely bright day - the first for ages - sun all day and not too cold. I went on a fruitless expedition to M&S in the morning (I really don’t know why I bother to go there these days) then washed and polished my car in the afternoon which gave me a good workout but knocked me off my perch. I fell asleep on the sofa for an hour last night. Most unusual for me. Ironing this morning and a volunteer session at school this afternoon.

Good morning from Durham. A noticeably colder start to the day.
I mentioned to my friend yesterday that since changing my car last year, any bills have been tiny, compared to the previous vehicle. Later, when I started the engine all the warning lights told me not to drive off, as the roof wasn’t latched - bother!!! I think it’s actually jammed shut, but the car is going into the garage first thing - sods law, as I really need it to help out DD2 while her DH is away. I’m not bothered about it being repaired yet, as long as it’s safe to use.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Yesterday the sun shone all day it was so lovely after the dismal grey days of last week

We went to DD2’s house first thing and put it back together as the decorator had finished. All the downstairs had been done and blinds, curtain piles needed putting back and all sorts of other bit. Floors to wash, we had a busy morning the 3 of us! Later on the school pick the GC were chatty and happy. Little monkey went to gym with DD2 and I did the dance run.
Today I have my flu jab at Tesco pharmacy so will do a shop there and then on to B & M and home. It is the school pick up again today and looking fwd to the cuddles and chat.

Good morning from s somerset, it was very cold out last night but is set to be a lovely sunny day

More allotment stuff today and it will much easier from now. Laying plastic on part, some more tidying etc. I continue to meet more people, all are so nice and of all ages and I have made a lot of progress

Maybe some knitting this evening as I slowly get back into the swing, I have started another hat. Double layered and from thin wool, they will be presents

Good morning everyone from a bright Essex. No idea how cold it is as I’m still tucked up in bed at DD1s. She and DSil2 collected me from hospital yesterday afternoon. I was shocked to realise how helpless I am, and thought that I was much better last year after the first hip replacement. But remembered as I shuffled to the bathroom in the night that I’d been just the same then. My digestive system is suffering from the effects of the anaesthetic and pain killers, so I’m quite uncomfortable, but it’ll improve soon hopefully.
I’m quite envious of all your activities as I won’t be able to do much for a while.

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks damp.

Our cleaner is due this morning - she couldn’t come yesterday. Now I have got Teams working on my new pc I am looking forward to today’s two V&A History of Art lectures.

I am hoping to visit a friend who recently had a hip replacement. Then this afternoon, another friend will be visited, if she’s free.

I must start thinking about Christmas. I have presents to buy for my Australian relatives and these need posting by the end of November. Stir up Sunday is in a couple of weeks so I’ll make the pudding then. I’ve already made the cake.

OH pruned the rose on the back of house the other day. He will take all the cuttings to the tip today.

I have a yearning for pheasant so OH will pop into the butcher in our local town to see if they have any. I have a Fat Ladies recipe for pheasant in apples, brandy and cream. Yum.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is far colder now. I had to find my gloves and hats again for up north at the weekend. I didn't need them there but will now.

At U3A history group we shared personal stories of wartime heroics and tragedy. Several of our members are wartime babies.

I am in awe.

I achieved a little more decluttering.
I'm rapidly filling the paper recycling now with less and less in the must keep box.

Good morning from a distinctly chilly Torbay at six degrees! Quite a change in the weather!

Today is DH’s 76th birthday for which we have no significant plans other than a meal at our local this evening. I shall still go to Props as he enjoys a mooch round the town on his own. I have the final session of the six week physiotherapy course at the hospital later.

Good morning from the Essex coast. It's looking a little brighter today.
I'm meeting up with GG13 and Gingster today, it's been a long time since I last saw them. I'm very much looking forward to seeing them.
My 15 year old DGD has recently been told she now has severe asthma.
She has been to A&E at least 6 times in the last few weeks. She has an appointment with her Consultant on Friday and we are all hoping that something can be done. She is missing a lot of school and this is her GCSE year.
I must get a move on as I have to drop DH off at the boatyard in order to have the car today.

Before lunch today I’ll go to town with dd and pop into Primark for some secret Santa ‘funnies’. .They have a great selection.

We are going shopping this morning as there is a good retail park nearby and as we live near a very small town with few shops we have a long shopping list.Afterwards we will visit my SIL then will visit MIL’s house for probably the last time as we have a buyer for it🤞🏻After that we will head home.

I hope your little twin continues to improve Bellasnana.My daughters and grandchildren have asthma.DD1 in particular is a worry.As GG says it is horrid.
