Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -5° and frosty. A rerun of yesterday. No snow here, thank goodness. I'm another who was glad to hear the good news on Soop's last night.
Yesterday was a quiet day. I nipped into town to sign the last piece of paper for mum's guardianship. Hopefully now it will be lodged with the court and I can get her settled. Dgs2 wasn't himself yesterday. He wasn't grumpy but has a bad cough and was very lethargic. He just wanted grandma cuddles. He was off his food too. Dd did think on Friday he was coming down with something. The light in the kitchen is failing and is very annoying, buzzing and flashing off and on. Dsil will get it down at the weekend as I can't quite reach.
Today is dgs2's third birthday. Dd has taken the day off to spend with him. They'll nip to me at some point but it'll depend how he is. She made his cake to his demands- Bluey, trains and dinosaurs- although she felt it wasn't to her usual standard. Other than a possible visit, I'll have a quiet day.

This has made me laugh! I keep seeing threads from years ago being resurrected into the “Active” list - and here we are today in a thread from the future 😁😁 (see title).

🤣

Never let it be said that we Gransnetters are behind the times!

Good morning everyone from a cold, breezy and very wet Essex. I don’t think I’ll be going outside today, maybe tomorrow if it’s not too icy and if one of the family has time to take me for a little walk. Didn’t take the full dose of paracetamol yesterday and had an uncomfortable night as a result. But making progress anyway.
susan I’m pleased your mum is responding well to her new surroundings.
gingster glad you had a successful day in Chelmsford yesterday!
Have the best day possible everyone, keep warm and safe.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 19-Nov-24 08:05:10

Gingster my sister has just sent pictures of snow in Hertfordshire, my nieces (13 & 7) are hoping it settles

Good morning from a chilly and wet Suffolk. I’m behind with all your news after my weekend in London but I hope it was all positive. I’ll catch up with today’s posts when DH appears with my second cuppa.

The weekend was wonderful as it always is with my friends of more than 67 years. As well as delicious Italian food and conversations ranging from worldwide issues to detailed ones about family and hopes and fears for the future,we did a really good tour in the British Museum.

I would heartily recommend it to anyone in that area when visiting London. It is bookable, costs £14 and is undertaken by a volunteer guide. Ours was great, live,y and interesting and just the right amount of information. It lasts 90 minutes and she picked out about a dozen of very different but very interesting exhibits from different galleries across the museum.

We saw wall paintings from Egypt, some of the Elgin marbles, the Sutton Hoo hoard, a penny from 1903 stamped by a Suffragette with ‘Votes for Women’ and other treasures.

Today is much more mundane but equally enjoyable with lunch with one of my closest friends.

Hope today is a good one for all.

Good morning from a snowy N. Bucks. It is laying in the rooftops and pathways but not the roads at the moment but still large flakes falling.
Did well with craft preparation yesterday. Materials for 20 flower hoops , 15 Christmas chocolate and gift card holders and a few pieces made for the Christmas tree festival.
I also made inroads with ordering gifts.
This morning I have cake to bake and then I’m off to a talk and cheese tasting this afternoon.
Not yet read through the thread but as usual healing thoughts for those who need them and a good day wished for all.

Annypop Tue 19-Nov-24 08:17:24

Good morning from County Durham where we have a good covering of snow. The valley is looking very pretty indeed but I'm so glad I don't have to go out and drive and shudder for all those who must be out and about .
We received an early Christmas gift yesterday. DIL who has had treatment previously for breast cancer was told the newly discovered lump was nothing more than fatty tissue. Such a relief for everyone as you can imagine.
Not much planned for today other than a wintry walk and possibly some crafting. I've been knitting flowers and attaching them to twigs for a floral display. I have so much wool to use up and don't like to see it wasted.
I also need to put together a hamper of local produce for my sister, chutney, chocolate, fudge etc as the wrapping should be delivered today.
Such fantastic news from FGM. You both must be so relieved.
Wishing all a happy and peaceful day.

Good morning from a damp W Kent. Off for a haircut today and quick visit to Bluewater to collect DH’s new reading glasses. I also need to drop information into the Drs so I can have a letter to see a Consultant about having my cataracts done. It all seems to have got very complicated as DH just phoned and asked for a short note to go. Anyway plenty to get on with.
Pleased to hear all went well for FGT

GrannySomerset Tue 19-Nov-24 08:28:24

Delighted that the news from Urmston is so good; well done the NHS! Grey skies and a dismal forecast though fortunately we are not threatened with snow, something I no longer welcome. A domestic day with Wonderful Cleaner and WI this evening so all is wel

Marydoll Tue 19-Nov-24 08:29:19

Good morning all from a very chilly Glasgow, where it is -3❄C.
The heating came on during the night, so it must have been very cold.

Delighted to hear the good news from the FGTs and pleased to see your mum is settling in Susan.

Yesterday was exhausting with wall to wall busyness. However, I witnessed a miracle, Mr MD can hear again! Well better than he could previously. I will now need to watch what I say about him, he heard me muttering about him last night. 😂

Being his usually stubborn self, he refused to put in the post code for the clinic on his Sat Nav, (^He knew what he was doing^) so we drove round and round in circles.
I had not been in Linwood for about forty years, I didn't recognise it all!
Eventually I insisted he stop and put it in the post code. Two minutes later, we passed the clinic, but he never even saw it! 😡
To my delight, the clinic was right beside a Tesco and a B&M. I abandoned him in the clinic and went shopping. I deserved a break!
Unfortunately, one ear was so impacted that it started to bleed. 🙁. I think he may have learned his lesson.

Another busy day ahead, first Parish Council meeting tonight with the new PP. I would rather stay in my warm house and I hate driving in the dark. There are some forceful new members, I expect it will not be a peaceful meeting.
The tearoom will be freezing, therefore I plan to go down early and put the heating on.

I wish you all a pleasant day and a gentle one for all, who are struggling. 💐

Marydoll Tue 19-Nov-24 08:30:41

Annypops, the best of gifts indeed. !

Jaxjacky Tue 19-Nov-24 08:55:29

I think that cake is brilliant Grandmabatty
Good news about your mum Susan pleased to hear it.

Beechnut Tue 19-Nov-24 08:58:12

Good morning everyone from a wet Severnside. When I pulled back the curtains it was snowing and outside has that snowy cold feel in the air.
I am up late as I stayed up to watch a film with Nicholas Lyndhurst in.
When I took my bra off last night I found a pound coin stuck to my boob. I’d forgotten that is where I put it when it was not needed for a shopping trolley 😂
I’ve a day at home today getting on with a few jobs. I have to say as useful as the programme may be Scam Investigators does not replace Doctors for me.

Have a good day all 🍂🍂

Marydoll Tue 19-Nov-24 09:05:24

I have have just realised the date, the anniversary of my first date with Mr MD in 1975.
It was a frosty, starry night and I knew then, that he was definitely The One. 😍
Shame it was downhill after that! 😂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 19-Nov-24 09:10:14

Good morning everyone from a chilly (looks it) south Manchester. We had a dusting of snow last night as we were going to bed at 10pm but this morning the ground is just wet with frosty rooftops only.

We had wonderful news yesterday at the Christie. The scan done 3 weeks ago showed the tumour no further growth of the tumour or liver met. “It’s gone to sleep for now. Enjoy this gift” the consultant said. Hopefully Himself will not develop any symptoms until his next scan which is scheduled for the beginning of February.

I took ages getting off to sleep last night my mind was racing. As it does sometimes. We both slept in late as yesterday was an emotional one. It’s so good to think we may not need to visit the hospital for 3 months. I’m pleased too for my brother in law who has been such a support to us these last months taking us every week. He too gets extended time off.

Sorry for the long post, spilling all my thoughts this morning.

We have absolutely no plans at all today. We purposely kept the day free. Now we can relax and lean into it. x

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 19-Nov-24 09:21:00

A rather late morning all from a snowy West Oxfordshire.

Such good news FGT2!

I will listen to two V&A lectures this morning on Art History. After lunch I’ll drive to my friend’s house on the other side of the village.

We bought some new coat hooks the other day for the bathroom and office. Hopefully OH will fit them today.

Have a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 19-Nov-24 09:23:45

I’ve just remembered that our gardener was supposed to be coming back today to plant the rest of the bulbs! Mmm.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 19-Nov-24 09:24:52

Snow!

harrigran Tue 19-Nov-24 09:25:14

Good morning from a cold, damp NE.
GD sent a photo of snow in Leeds, quite a lot around her University accommodation.
Woken by my phone pinging, GP surgery telling me to make an appointment, rang them and was given one on Friday morning, usually takes weeks to get one. Now I am worried.
So pleased to hear the good news FGT.
Have a good day.

Stilllearning Tue 19-Nov-24 09:30:55

Morning from a very white South Lanarkshire, not snow but a very heavy frost. Boots on and careful walking on my way to Giffnock today, I’ll be glad the bus drivers are doing their job and not me!

I was relieved and delighted to read FGT’s news, very happy for them both.

My dear sister in law died peacefully on Sunday, she had been moved just a couple of days before to the peace and comfort of a hospice. I’ll miss her, she was both unassuming and rather formidable. She lived her whole life in the house in which she was born having left school at 14. She said she didn’t like school but I suspect she realised another wage was needed to support the large family and made the decision herself, since she eventually got a job with Thomas Cook and went on to start her own travel business which is now well known in Scotland.
She never married but became the centre of the extended family who looked after her wonderfully over the past few years.

I’ve been wondering about Taichinain, does anyone know how she is doing?

Sending good wishes to all.

Stilllearning Tue 19-Nov-24 09:31:30

Fabulous cake Grandmabatty

mamaa Tue 19-Nov-24 09:46:31

Morning, no snow here in coastal Suffolk, wet and windy though. Lovely to read the good news for FGT and himself.
Off to the hairdresser soon. I will leave the salon looking suitably coiffured but will no doubt be a bedraggled mess in this weather by the time I get to the car! smile

BlueSapphire Tue 19-Nov-24 09:46:40

Good morning everyone from a very cold and snowy Northampton! Can't ever remember settled snow in November before. Slept till 8.30 this morning and what a surprise. Methinks it will be a day indoors in the warm, not venturing out on our health walk.

A good yoga class yesterday, followed by coffee in the little cafe - I had collected a full card of stamps so it was my turn for a free coffee!
After lunch, changed the bed, put away clean laundry, and then washed a massive pile of black socks which had been growing for a few weeks. Put together the SOAP dish, and cooked it in the slow cooker - enough for two meals, so it only needs to be reheated in the microwave tonight.

So the plan today, instead of walking, is to make a batch of mince pies.

Just had a tree maintenance man come to the front door; he did a good job for me last time so I asked for a quote for my massive whitebeam in the front garden. It was reasonable so he is doing it now!

So pleased to read FGT2's news. I know that feeling!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from another frosty start in Glasgow.

DD1 has been and gone after her coffee drop in once she has dropped GD2 at school. It’s a very welcome start to my day.
Not sure if I will stay home or go out today. It’s a pleasant change for me to have such options now.

First off, wonderful news FGT so pleased for you both.
Also pleased to hear how well your DM is settling in to her new surroundings Susan. DGD choosing an outfit for her GGM is so sweet.
Marydoll Marking the date of our first date, 18/8/73 was a cause for celebration.
Also, wonderful news for your DiL Annypops

Have a good day all.
