Good morning from a frosty Bristol. After the snow on Tuesday, it has been dry, and occasionally bright.
I am very tired as I have ha/am having a full on week - a perfect storm of events…
Yesterday was the busiest. It started with my usual Wednesday morning prayers, swiftly followed by the FAB cafe. As I’m the church hostess/volunteer,I have to be the welcomer, server and general cheerful face. About 16 attendees, many of whom were completely new faces. Last week’s guests mostly didn’t come, they were curious…. I’m giving it until the end of January for the numbers to settle. People were very flattering about my peanut butter cookies.
I rushed home for lunch. I also called the PoA people regarding my refund. You couldn’t make it up - the cheque had be put on someone’s desk - they only are annual leave! I’ve been promised it by special delivery today…. I’m not holding my breath!
Rushed off to my ladies’ guild thingy where we had a very interesting talk about”Princess Caraboo”. She turned up in one of Bristol’s small outlying towns.
I left early because I was so tired but still had to join my neighbour for a birthday cuppa. I left her after about an hour - still exhausted. I was in bed not long after 9.
Today tai chi and dinner with DD. I shall give the DGDs their “lucky dip” advent calendar; my invention, different to the usual stuff.
Hope all is well with you all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from Shropshire. There has been a small amount of snow overnight but sun forecast today so hopefully that will at least clear the roads.

We are up early as I have an early hospital appointment. We will then go supermarket shopping and then a friend is coming round this afternoon.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Autumncolours Thu 21-Nov-24 06:16:38

Good morning everyone from a chilly Yorkshire. First time posting here. I had some worrying health news yesterday so have found it hard to sleep. Getting up to make a cuppa and trying to distract myself. It’s lovely to hear your plans and know you’re there. Have a good day.

grandMattie Thu 21-Nov-24 06:18:10

Welcome Autumncolours. Hope you enjoy our daily trivia and doings…

karmalady Thu 21-Nov-24 06:19:08

Good morning from s somerset, rain or snow all morning and very cold

Probably an indoors day for me today, I need to get my spare bedroom ready so could well be doing that. Little by little my house is getting straighter and dust is disappearing, it isn`t that much effort, not really, not when it is a gradual process

I have a hat to finish, that might happen today. There are no appointments for me this week, which leaves me free to do whatever beckons. I might make some wall storage system for my shed but that depends on the weather. I might assemble my new barrow, which is in my hall. Lots of `mights` for me today, I just follow my inclinations, as and when

Ooh yes, I did order my first veg plantings for the plot. Asparagus, potatoes, garlic, onions and shallots

Have a good day and be safe on icy ground

karmalady Thu 21-Nov-24 06:21:24

Welcome Autumncolours, nice to see you posting here

Bellasnana Thu 21-Nov-24 06:27:40

Good morning from Malta where we expect a cooler 21°C high and 15°C low with a possibility of showers.

Nothing exciting happening today. I need to change the sheets and turn some carrots into soup. I wasn’t well yesterday so will see how I feel once I’m up.

Feelingmyage55 yes, indeed I did watch the tennis on Tuesday night. It was very emotional seeing Rafa bowing out of professional tennis. What a man!

I hope Babydoll is feeling better. Croup is horrible.

Hello Autumncolours welcome to this friendly thread.🤗

Wishing you all a good day ☀️

Kalu Thu 21-Nov-24 06:29:32

Good morning all. It’s bitterly cold and frosty again in Glasgow -3 deg! 🥶

I couldn’t access GN yesterday for whatever reason.

Yesterday was hairdresser day then some food shopping in our local M&S. My food bills have drastically dropped now I am buying for one.

DD1 will be arriving at 11.00 to accompany me to a close friend’s mother’s funeral. I feel so sad for my friend who was very close to her mother. A lovely lady who I too will miss.

No plans after that, just see what unfolds today.

Best wishes to all. Stay safe and warm in these icy conditions .

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. Not sure what the weather is doing as very dark still and I dare not move in case I wake the GC !! They both slept through. I kept waking every couple of hours as the heating seemed to be on all night and pipes kept clicking away noisily. I didn’t want to investigate and wake anyone. Maybe as temperatures were low it came on overnight! Will tell DD2 today when she is back. Apparently she has had a busy night (just had a text) , A & E was heaving. She hopes to get back for 8.30 am.

I will get off home and shower before heading off to Pilates. Nothing else planned today.
GM I don’t know how you do it all. Take care of yourself.

Wishing a good day to all, keep safe and warm.

Kalu Thu 21-Nov-24 06:34:51

Good luck with your hospital appointment Susan
A very warm welcome Autumn colours pleased to have you join us.
Poor babydoll. I didn’t know she a croup. Hope it clears up quickly for her.

Mizuna Thu 21-Nov-24 06:35:32

Good morning from the centre of lovely Liverpool where it's cold but dry. My
son-in-law is getting better so I now have what in effect is a holiday in the city, rather than trips to hospital. Thank you for your kindnesses.

It's my grandson's 15th birthday today. I'm still amazed that he's turned into a big, hairy young man! 😄😄

Today I'll explore the charity shops and hope to find some knitting wool. Welcome Autumncolours. 👋

RosesandLilac Thu 21-Nov-24 06:37:29

Good morning everyone from an icy hillside in south Glos, it’s
-4° apparently 🥶
Our snow has largely disappeared, yesterday’s sunshine helped, but it was a bitterly cold day and more of the same today.
DDIL messages get to say that the DGCs socks had arrived safely- along with the missing first pair that have taken 18 days to travel 100 miles - I couldn’t believe it! So much for first class post, it’s really taking the p…
Today I have dog walk then hairdressers followed by collecting a Christmas cake that someone in the village has made for me.
It’s art group this afternoon but I might give it a miss because the room at the hall isn’t warm enough for me, let’s see……
I hope today goes well for you 🙏🌹

Georgesgran Thu 21-Nov-24 06:47:03

Good morning from a dark Durham. The heating is on and the forecast is for sun, but cold.
I’ve an empty today, but with DD2’s Little Dog staying, things have to be organised to walk him before dusk. However, I really need to up my game for Christmas, as he’s here to the end of the month.
Welcome Autumncolours.
Hope BabyD is improving.

Best wishes to all. X

kittylester Thu 21-Nov-24 06:49:22

A day at home for me apart from a quick trip to Waitrose.

Have the best day possible everyone.

hollysteers Thu 21-Nov-24 06:51:57

Good morning Mick and all from -2°C northwest coast.
Quiet day yesterday and will tackle some housework today. Flying daughter is in Miami, rather a change to our weather…

Rereading one of my favourite authors, Colette again, “The Last of Cheri”. I’m not a rereader of books, but it’s so long since I read it, it’s like a new one.
Glad your trip up here is working out well Mizuna and thoughts to all.🌺

GrannyGravy13 Thu 21-Nov-24 07:03:33

Morning all, it’s still dark here in S E Essex.

The cleaning fairy’s are here at 8.30am (no idea why so early 🤷‍♀️)

I have a pedestal and manicure at 10.30pm, still not sleeping great so looking forward to some pampering

The 9yr old is here for the normal sleepover tonight, I shall be busy feeding him (his appetite is very large)

I hope Babydoll is improving

Hello Autumncolours 👋

Keep warm dear friends 🙋‍♀️

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 21-Nov-24 07:11:17

Good morning from a frosty and freezing Oxfordshire, not so warm indoors after the bathroom chaps restarted the central heating but 2 rads didn’t come back on, I didn’t think to check the bedrooms! Hopefully they can sort them today.
Day 4 of the refit and the electrician will be here today so intermittent power and the heating will go off again.
The plasterer arrived at 5 last night and did his thing, shower tray install and a small wall should be done today.

MrOops is unwell with a cold and the shivers, I’m still wobbly and we are supposed to go out tomorrow night (expensive and paid for in advance) I doubt we will bother. The house is covered in a fine layer of dust, they don’t work weekends so it will have to wait to be removed.

So another day hunkered down in the sitting room with a book and a blanket.

MzOops is now in Bratislava heading to Prague this weekend and having a wonderful, but very cold, time.

Welcome Autumncolours
Hope babydoll soon gets better, I remember when MzOops had it 50 yrs ago , scared me to death.

Hope everyone has a good day and those with stress or worries start to feel better. Let’s hope the sun shines on us all. Electrician is due at 7.30 so I’d best be off.

Ashcombe Thu 21-Nov-24 07:16:23

Good morning from a very wet Torbay!

Welcome, Autumncolours!

Kalu: I hope the funeral gives comfort as you share precious memories. I, too, had problems accessing Gransnet yesterday.

I’m glad you are able to enjoy your city break, Mizuna, now you’ve reassured yourself about the health of your SiL. A different world from your home territory!

I have a hair appointment for a cut and colour this morning, then a field of vision test at my optician's with a PCC this evening. Poor DH is spending a lot of time alone this visit but he doesn’t mind! (I think he enjoys the “piece of quiet” as my DS called it when he was very young!)

Have as good a day as you can. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning from a ~1 W Kent. Art group today, I have to pay for my Christmas lunch. First Christmas card arrived yesterday someone has really got ahead I have decided not to open it until December
Welcome to Autumncolours
All the best

ginny Thu 21-Nov-24 07:25:57

Good morning. Not looked out the window yet hoping we get some sun like yesterday although it was cold.

Spent yesterday morning sorting Christmas stuff and then attended our craft club where we made clay Christmas trees. Looking forward to seeing them when they are fired. I have made the sample for the next meeting ( see photo).
More preparations this morning and then sewing club this afternoon. My turn to provide the refreshment cakes.
I’m hoping to spend the rest of the day/evening painting.

Wishing all a good with a smile along the way.

Marydoll Thu 21-Nov-24 07:29:24

Good morning all, as Kalu says it is -3°C here in Glasgow. I am so happy to see you posting again.💕
A warm welcome to Autumncolours.
Up early, as I am once more on Florence Nightingale duty, looking after Babydoll. I am exhausted after yesterday's full on day.

My heart sank, when DS said; Mum, We have already given her her steroids, hidden yoghurt.
Her daddy had chronic asthma and croup as a child. We nearly lost him on a number of occasions and he still has to carry an epipen.
Unfortunately, when on steroids, he developed superhuman powers, (or thought he had) and was under the impression that he could fly. He was forever covered in cuts and bruises. I looked at this wee soul, who is the image of her daddy and I could feel my eyes filling up. So many memories came flooding back. We went through similar with Dollie.
She never stopped all day (think Duracell bunny) then had periods of painful crying and to our relief conked out in papa's arms. Like Dollie, she is a papa's girl!
After three dreadful nappies, I stuck her in a vapour bath. Fortunately, I discovered a bottle left from similar days with Dollie.
She refused to come out of the bath. Her latest new word is Why, said with hands outstretched.😂

We were so exhausted we picked up a takeaway on the way home.
I had just sat down to dinner, when my phone rang. It was a former school friend, who is also a Safeguarding Co-ordinator.
Borrheid, I know you will ask, it was Helen) An hour later, I came back to find my dinner in the bin.😡
I thought you didn't want it, said you know who!
It was worth it, yesterday I had planned to do risk assessments, but Babydoll and the fact I couldn't access Teams meant I was stuck and stressed.
My lovely friend phoned to say, she would send me her documents and I could amend them. She too was looking for templates, which I had.
Panic over!

Anyway, I must dash. The whirling dervish will arrive shortly, its going to be a very, long day!

My very best wishes to all, who are struggling, 💐 Susan, good luck with the posts. I haven't had time to read the posts.
I shall read later.

9h, MD, how much you do! I’m in awe of how much you manage to do despite your various, painful ailments. Take care of yourself. ❤️

ginny Thu 21-Nov-24 07:38:34

Try again.
