Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and dry, although snow showers are forecast. I have the fire on in the living room because it feels much colder than -2. Yesterday I had a lovely lunch and catch up with friends. One criticises everything and yesterday was no exception.
Today I'm going to dgs1's school for a literacy event. His mum and dad can't get the time off work so I said I would go. I hope the snow doesn't come to anything because I hate driving in snow. Marydoll good luck with the whirling dervish of baby doll.

Thanks for your kind welcomes everyone. 😀

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a nitherin’ South Yorkshire where it is minus three outside. The temperature is not set to get above freezing until after lunch. I’m usually out with the walking group today, but am going to swerve it. All our green areas are still under frozen snow and I can’t see the woods we walk in being any different.
Yesterday DD and her partner took their civil partnership vows. It was a very quiet, laid back affair because that’s the sort of people they are, but it was lovely, happy occasion. GS and I stood as their witnesses and we had a nice meal afterwards. I only wish that DH had been there, but he would certainly have approved.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Welcome Autumncolours 👋.

Hope Babydoll soon gets better, and good to hear your SiL is getting better Mizuna enjoy your charity shopping.
Have a great day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.

Good morning from an icy but dry looking Suffolk. Hello autumncolours,a lovely choice of name.

It is my stretch class this morning but I think I’ll give it a miss as I did yesterday with the keep fit one. The lanes to get to the main road are very icy and the hall will be very cold.

I’m meeting 3 friends for lunch so that will involve a drive of about 14 miles by which time the ice should, hopefully, have gone.

Thinking of this cold spell,I had lunch with another friend on Tuesday and we decided to go to Wetherspoons who do a mean plate of ham,egg and chips. It was reassuring to see several people able to stay there in the warm friendly atmosphere for as long as they wanted with as many refills of a hot drink which only cost £1.52.

My friend who is a trustee of the library says they offer a warm space with free hot drinks but the atmosphere there is not as friendly.

I hope those with health problems or caring for others have the best day possible.

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where it is currently -4°C, the Moon and Venus have been shining away but I can see clouds gathering on the horizon.
My car is well frosted up and I have to go out soon into town to the dentist. When I'm back it will definitely be an indoor day, I have the ironing to do and one or two other little jobs. Reading beckons, I've got this interesting book by one Muir Gray called 'Sod Seventy', all about living well in older age. It sounds like hard work! I've read one of his works before, he's worthwhile but sounds as though he's been blessed with better genes than some.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Very cold again but I have dressed in double or triple layers and I'll wear my new ankle boots. The windscreen will need scraped for driving to yoga. I don't use my car much but certain places are inaccessible without one.

The Christmas Market opens this weekend and our potters' group have taken a table for 4 weeks! Madness.

Welcome Autumncolours!

I wish you well today Marydoll and hope the wee one recovers quickly.
My DS1 suffered from croup as a baby but luckily he grew out of it. The scariest thing!

Have a good day everyone and keep cosy.

Good morning from County Durham. The icy pavements outside show no sign of melting.
Welcome to you Autumncolours. I hope you enjoy the company.
A house tidy beckons today after yesterday's hunt around finding my Christmas stash. At least I now know what is in my hoard and even got a few things wrapped.
Supermarket delivery later then will try to persuade DH to go out to visit a local Garden Centre with me for a coffee and wander.
I hope Babydoll improves today MD. I remember well those early morning starts and long days with the little ones, even more difficult when they're poorly. You do so well considering your own health issues. Take care.
Congratulations to your DD Greyduster.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Morning Mick, morning All from a grey, chilly corner of Somerset

Apologies, in a tearing rush, have an early and undoubtedly painful in the pocket dental appointment. Dental anxiety alive and well here.

Thrown by news arriving overnight that a close friend, some ten years younger than me, has had a stroke. We bonded over two years of emotionally challenging post grad training and were all looking forward to meeting next week. She’s understandably not promising.

I’ll be back later to read your news. Stay warm everyone. Have the best day you can.

Kalu Thu 21-Nov-24 08:15:34

Congratulation to DD and her partner. Grey. May they have many happy years together. 🥂

BlueSapphire Thu 21-Nov-24 08:16:16

Good morning everyone from a very frosty East Northants, stayed overnight at DD's after our ladies' wine club, which was most enjoyable with really good Italian wines and delicious food to match.

DD will drop me back home later this morning, and then I'll not do much until the Sainsbury's delivery comes mid-afternoon.
Tuna fish cake and baby potatoes for dinner tonight I think.

Stay warm and hope your day goes well.

Jaxjacky Thu 21-Nov-24 08:23:33

Morning Mick and all, including Autumncolours from an overcast S Hants, we’re forecast something wet.
Busy yesterday with bedding wash, dry and a new set on, looks pretty, then I made a lot of stuffing for Christmas. The onion and herb chopping by hand takes ages, but the oven smells later were worth it.
A quieter day today, friends visiting from Spain, we’ll meet them for an early drink.

Good morning all 🥶.

Yesterday was a successful shopping day with Dd . She was back to her old self (for now anyway) 🙏.
We started by meeting friends for coffee and then set to. Filled my trusty trolley with all sorts and came home for a quick sandwich and then wrapped presents. So lovely to have her ‘back’.

Today she’s coming in after school drop off and dgd1 is ‘home’ for a few days and is coming here . Little DGD has half day so they’ll pick her up and come back for lunch and Christmas doings this afternoon. Brownies this evening and I’ll run them home. 😤. A busy day indeed.

Last night I went to my new choir. The Busketeers. They have other choirs around Essex and perform concerts for charity.
Lots going on for Christmas but I won’t join them as I haven’t learnt the music yet. What a wonderful sound they make. 🎶.
Very frosty when I came home and luckily had my de icer.

I love the ‘piece of quiet’ Ash. ☺️.
Hope your day goes well Marydoll and babydoll is recovering.
Wecome Autumncolours. I hope your health concerns aren’t too worrying. 🙏. Offload on here if you feel the need..

Take care all ❄️

Good morning Mickand All from a light frosting in South Bucks.

DS staying tonight as he is coming to the end of a two week Book Tour, including Munich last weekend. Of course we will have his favourite food ready. So good to have him to ourselves for a night.

Sar53 Thu 21-Nov-24 08:25:49

Good morning from a cold and frosty Essex coast.
DH has an appointment this morning for a suspicious lesion on his back. After he gets back we will need to go food shopping.
This afternoon will probably be reading and catching up with TV.
Welcome to Autumncolours.
Enjoy your day everyone and stay warm.

BlueSapphire Thu 21-Nov-24 08:32:51

Good morning from London where it is cold and dull day . Going shopping when I can get out of bed , I am not strictly a gran but there is a grandchild on the way smile

harrigran Thu 21-Nov-24 09:21:27

Good morning from a dry and sunny NE but still very cold, heating was on all night.
Will do the washing and ironing, will keep me moving and warm.
When I returned from shopping I noticed I had a lot of carrots and sweet potatoes so will make some soup.
Welcome * Autumncolours*, this is always an interesting thread.
Have a good day everyone.

baubles Thu 21-Nov-24 09:26:17

Good morning all, it’s a beautiful sunny but frosty and cold start to the day here in South Lanarkshire.

We met up with DD yesterday evening to see Gladiator 2 in the cinema. Sadly it wasn’t a patch on the first but it was good to be out with DD as we rarely get the opportunity.

Welcome autumncolours.

Very productive Jax, I’m assuming that’s not all for you.

Pretty decoration Ginny.

Poor little one MD, croup is horrible, DD had a few bouts as a child, I remember how scary it was.

Nothing much planned for today other than a supermarket sweep and my yarn group this evening.

Have the best day possible everyone.

monk08 Thu 21-Nov-24 09:35:57

Hello Lilibill👋 exciting times when is the grandchild due?.

NannyJan53 Thu 21-Nov-24 09:38:35

Good morning from a very cold and icy Black Country.

Couldn't post yesterday morning, and had to leave at 8am for the coach with my friend to Chatsworth.

It was a long day, didn't arrive home until 9pm. Very busy with a Christmas market, then we had a tour around the house. Lovely to go, but I wouldn't go again near Christmas as it was so busy.

Walking group walk today, and a warming drink in a cafe at the end.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

NannyJan53 Thu 21-Nov-24 09:39:23

Welcome to Autumncolours & Lillibill
