Good morning all. All snow has disappeared replaced by heavy rain and howling wind here in Glasgow.

Another restless night due to a painful hip. I have a feeling it is either sciatica or a worn out hip but the gnawing pain is relentless, living on pain relief meds. I will have a diagnosis next week to discover what the cause is. Old age 🤷‍♀️

A day of not doing much. Reading, TV, possibly start a jigsaw.
Living the high life here!

Best wishes to all for a good day.

Good morning from Bristol. It has been raging steadily, but not heavily, since about midday yesterday. Although the wind has come up, I don’t think it has been that bad here.
Stupidly, I started some sewing I have been putting off as the cutting out was too difficult. DD wants me to make 4 pairs of pyjama bottoms for her family for Christmas, using an old double duvet cover.
I duly spread it across my living room floor, having moved most of my furniture out of the way. It was an absolute pig to do, I couldn’t get all 4 in the same direction. In fact, two are one way, one is the other way and the last has one leg one way and the other, the other. I suspect they won’t last long as the fabric is too worn. All that effort….
I went to the church coffee in a different part of the church as it was being used to rehearse a choral concert (which I didn’t attend) last night. Curiously, it was almost better attended than usual, but the room is rather small and people were being squeezed in. I left early.
I was very, very tired, so had an early lunch then took myself to bed where I slept for nearly two hours. I spent a quiet rest of the day, knitting a nativity for myself. It won’t be ready for Christmas but I don’t mind.
Today, church, then very quiet afternoon.
Have a peaceful , blessed Sunday. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Raging = raining. Predictive text 😡

Good morning from s somerset, very scary wind all night and it has intensified this morning, much rain is coming all day. There will be a lot of damage in the area. Natural events like this are very loud. I had to shut some window vents last night

No amazon parcel yesterday, it is only a garden spade but they have to do an age and ID check on me, I stayed in again. This is making me think ahead to winter, to make sure that I can be sustainable at home for long periods.

Pottering today, I cannot be doing much else apart from that and knitting. I saw my tall crab-apple tree against the sky just now, swaying back and forth and was very glad that I lopped off some more branches last summer. I am hunkering down. These winds are being sustained at high speed and are much more dangerous than gusts

Stay safe and have a good day

Good morning from South Lanarkshire where I’m happy to see that the snow has been washed away.

I was thinking when I went to bed that it looked as though it was freezing up again.

The chap on the British Gas helpline yesterday morning advised that we go to bed with a hot water bottle when he learned that we had no heating. I’d have been up and down all day refilling it, as it turned out we weren’t really cold, the house is well insulated and we only used the little electric heater for an hour in the evening. The engineer is promised before one pm.

Mass this morning and in the afternoon we are going over to visit DD and family. I’m so looking forward to seeing them as it’s been a while due to all their commitments.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning from a very windy and wet Torbay. My weather App says it’s 15 deg but the wind is making it feel like three!

Yesterday we braved the elements to visit Lidl for much needed supplies and survived but were glad to hibernate for the rest of the day. Not sure if I’ll make it to church but will probably try.

I have to go out early evening for a rehearsal but I’m regretting our decision to book lunch at our favourite hostelry on the Downs to which we usually walk!

Thinking of those who are struggling at the moment.

Have a safe and easy Sunday, if possible! 🦩💐✝️🥰🦩

Good morning from a very wet and stormy Oxfordshire. The wind is howling, I hope there isn’t too much damage out there.

Cleaned the house yesterday, what a relief, no more gritty floors and surfaces. All will stay clean until tomorrow morning when, hopefully, fitters will arrive. Let’s hope that the correct items arrive tomorrow as well.

I have the dog today and tomorrow, that should be fun, she hates strangers and hates men, we should have 3 of them here roaming around the house first thing tomorrow.

MrOops has promise to help MissOops take the last items out of her old house today, but the weather really is grim so they might cancel it. He spent yesterday in bed and really isn’t well enough either.

Have a good day everyone and stay safe.

Good morning from Durham. Rain, wind, mild and the snow has gone. A toilet break at 4am showed a clear sky and the most amazing stars.
DGS1 has swimming this morning. I haven’t seen him all week, but it’s a long way to go for just an hour and it means leaving Little Dog alone. I’ll see how I feel in a couple of hours, as I’ll have to leave by 9am.

Best wishes to all. X

Morning all from a wild and windyWest Oxfordshire. The doors and windows are rattling,

It was fun at OH’s Beekeepers evening. His cake and honey didn’t win, but they were his first attempt.

I mixed up my Christmas pudding mixture, and today being Stir up Sunday I’ll steam it for 8 hours.

I spent several hours ordering various Christmas presents. The ones for Australia are wrapped, but I need to buy some more brown parcel paper.

While the pudding is steaming I’ll make spiced chocolate muffins and chocolate ice cream. I think I’ll make beef pie for dinner and steamed pudding and custard.

Have a good day.

Morni;g Mick and all from a blowy, wet S Hants, due to last all day, grandsons football is off, waterlogged pitch.
Yesterday after fuelling up my car I stayed in, today will be similar with a quick walk around the block to stretch my legs and we’ll go out later for the meat draw.

Good morning everyone from a still dark south Manchester where it’s raining heavily. I’ve quietly made my own mug of TIB just now because Himself is asleep beside me.

We are taking my stepfather to the M&S Food Hall near him as he said his stocks are low. Then it’s a slightly later lunch for the 3 of us. I’ve reserved a table at my favourite Italian place here in Urmston.

Himself loves the Grand Prix racing but owing to lunches every Sunday with my stepfather he misses most of them. Ah well, as he said yesterday ‘never mind, this is more important and I can always watch the highlights later’. 💙

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 24-Nov-24 06:54:16

By ‘eck LLFL you eat well at your gaff! I’d be the size of a house if I lived with you it all sounds so delicious. And you eat out a lot too. Good food is obviously important to you. Can we 3 book in for next Sunday please? 😁

grandMattie you are too kind re sewing those bluddy pyjama bottoms. I’d have messaged to say ‘sadly there’s not enough material and disappointingly I found it’s wearing a bit too in places - so sorry about disappointing’. They’d soon get over it. Then again I’m a bit selfish with my time. #lazygran
I hope they appreciate you. x

Bellasnana Sun 24-Nov-24 06:55:14

Good morning from Malta where we expect a high of 19°C and a low of 11°C. It definitely feels cooler but is still hot in the sun.

I must apologize for bringing the thread down yesterday. I wasn’t looking for sympathy but I thank you all for your kindness, as always.

I had a lovely time with the boys yesterday evening. Gave them their bath and just enjoyed being with them as they are such happy little souls.

Mass this morning, then my weekly chat with my friend in Leicester who listens to my woes with such patience, bless her!

So sorry you are in such pain Kalu. It must be miserable for you. 💐

It sounds as if Storm Bert has wreaked its wrath on some of you. Take care all and stay safe and warm.

Have a good day all.☀️

Bellasnana Sun 24-Nov-24 06:58:36

FGT I agree with you re the pyjamas. I’m also a #lazygran I’m afraid.🫣

kittylester Sun 24-Nov-24 07:04:27

Good morning all from a very windy North Leicestershire. We have rain in the forecast and flood warnings have been issued.

Our choir is singing at a nearby Christmas Fair at lunch time. We were scheduled to be in the steps outside providing a welcoming atmosphere. Thankfully we are now inside at the top of some gorgeous stairs. Thankfully, the flash mob has been abandoned.

Nothing else on the cards apart from a previously frozen casserole for lunch - at some point.

Have the best day possible, everyone

Good morning Mick and All from a damp but getting milder South Bucks.

We discovered recently that the local Golf Club has a monthly carvery. Non members are allowed. We went last month and the meal was as good as a Christmas Dinner, hot plenty of vegetables and crackling and apple sauce with the pork and also beef on offer. We are booked in for today. The setting is rather quaint like a 1950s Dining Room. We found our table easily as our names were printed and put on a little stand. Afterwards we walked through the grounds down to the boatyard on the Thames.

I wish your Choir was nearer to us Kitty it would finish off our day wonderfully.

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s warmed up a bit and the snow is melting, it’s still windy and wet though
I’m looking forward to a catch up call with DS soon, he calls most Sunday mornings. Yesterday I ended up at the opticians as I got a really red sore eye after getting shampoo in it when showering. Without thinking I rubbed it really hard as it was stinging such a lot, a daft thing to do I know. There’s no permanent damage done but it’ll take a few days to clear up
Take care everyone if out and about travelling today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

NannyJan53 Sun 24-Nov-24 07:23:49

Good morning from a dark and rainy Black Country, where it rained all day yesterday.

Not a lot done yesterday apart from housework. Also wrote the few Christmas cards that I send out which are mainly close family. Also DD and DS's birthdays are in December, so those were written also.

If it stops raining may have a walk into town as it is only 10 minutes.

I hope your family appreciates all you do gM as you really are a marvel and put yourself out for them and others.

Kalu flowers

Good morning from Stafford where it is raining and a moderate breeze.

All our planned activities for the weekend have been cancelled but we are really enjoying our time with DD2,SIL and DGS1.
We will go down for our hotel breakfast in about an hour and then head over to DD’s house.

We will leave for home mid afternoon. We are meant to be going to North Wales to look after DGD and H.The roads around their village are flooded so not sure if we will be able to get to them. They are with their other grandparents at the moment who live on the same lane so worse case we will ask them to bring the children to the village in the farm truck and we will take them back to our house.

I am so sorry you are in so much pain Kalu💐I hope Grandmabatty, Marydoll and all unwell are feeling better.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 24-Nov-24 07:32:55

The rain is absolutely torrential here now. I’ve never seen it so heavy and strong winds are sluicing it across the decking outside our bedroom window. It sounds so fierce out there. Surely ⚽️ for the Boy Wonder will be cancelled later?

Greyduster Sun 24-Nov-24 07:35:48

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where the rain is hammering down at the moment. DD is running a half marathon this morning - I hope they cancel it!
Made a couple of fish pies yesterday with smoked haddock, cod and salmon, and ate one for my tea. They put the awful specimen I bought from M&S recently to shame. I’m not sure what was in it could even be classed as fish. Family are coming for an early lunch today (if DD doesn’t get washed away!) so I can’t lounge about this morning.
Have the best day you can folks.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 24-Nov-24 07:36:27

Morning all from an extremely windy and damp S E Essex.

Covent Garden was very pretty and Christmasy yesterday, but boy was it busy, absolute heaving!!!

Need to go to a supermarket first thing (hate shopping on a Sunday, and this is the 2nd Sunday running I have had to do this!) if not will be lunch out!

Kalu I hope you can find some relaxing from your hip pain.

Bellasnanna never apologies for sharing, that’s what virtual friends are for 💐

Wishing a peaceful Sunday 🙋‍♀️

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Sun 24-Nov-24 07:39:52

Bigham’s do a delicious fish pie.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 7° and dry at the moment. The heavy wet snow of yesterday has disappeared, thank goodness. Kalu I sympathise greatly. Sciatica is a painful affliction. Brook ouch! No more eye rubbing!
Yesterday was a wasted day because I felt under the weather, however the snow fell for a few hours and I, too, thought it would freeze last night. I was very glad to see it all gone this morning. The boys took the opportunity to play in the snow yesterday. Dgs2 wasn't keen - he's not an outside lover but dgs1 and Dsil had a great time apparently.
I had another bad night. Thank you Susan. I think it's a kidney issue, so I'll be trying to get a doctor's appointment tomorrow if it continues. Today I'm making mince in the slow cooker and pottering then I'll visit mum if the road isn't flooded. Have a good day all
