On the back of the new Jaguar controversial adverts...

What commercial advertising have you loved over the years?

I was always excited to see the new very arty Benson & Hedges ones in particular. I was interested in how they used the surreal to get round the "new" advertising regulations.

I also liked the "worth waiting for" Guiness advert much more recently;

Launch due on December 2 we will see soon enough, lots of opinions about the advert, most hate it, a new image they've even dumped the old logos, without the ad nobody would know it was about to be introduced.

We’ve given up buying JLR cars, our last Land Rover was nowhere near as good as the previous ones.
While it was in the dealership several time, for repairs, under warranty, we were loaned other Land Rover’s or Jags. Not impressed with any of them

I don't remember having seen that advert - but I love it now - even though I'm a vegetarian!

I expect there will me more adverts coming bit by bit for Jaguar as it gets closer to rolling out.
Maybe they will be cumulative in some way?

I wonder if jaGuar is really going to be written like that in future. It does look a bit odd.
But then the new Kia logo is horrible I think.

After all the weird advertising and build up all they unveiled was a concept car, the real thing is not going be available for at least 18months, very disappointing.

I expect it's the drip drip advertising ahead of the big reveal.

The smash potato advert with the aliens, the episodic Gold Blend coffee advert where they eventually got together. The Leonard Rossiter and Joan Collins adverts for Cinzano

Me too! All three, but I also like the Lorraine Chase ad for Cinzano “no mate, Luton Airport”

What’s the saying about business … ‘Go woke, go broke’.

I still say "wish I was as clever as you Brian", sadly I am not clever enough to remember what it was advertising! grin

No grin think it was a suggestion i.e. why don't you google!

I am indifferent to the JLR advert. I don't know why some people get so affronted, or describe it as woke. Perhaps they are just getting in training, ready for to be offended by whatever wins the Turner prise later today.

This is the new Jaguar advert by the way.

I liked the comment from one of the YT viewers...

you're selling cars to rich people, not the TellyTubbies.

smile

Very apt!

Oh how wonderful to see that again!

It reminds me so much of my adored grandparents.

Thank you so much for this lovely memory
