Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, goodness knows with the floods here we surely don't need any more. People have been evacuated from one location four times this year, and the railway station is closed for the third day.

My new fridge arrived on time yesterday morning, and was installed by two very nice men who took a lot of time to make sure it was installed just right - not a straightforward job, as it involved removing and replacing the kitchen cabinet door. Got a few things in it, need to get the rest of the stuff from the garage fridge.

My gardener came at lunchtime, and did three hours pruning and tidying; he will come again next week to finish off.

Finished my library book yesterday having really enjoyed it - think I shall have a break now from that series, it's the fourth one I've read. Wishing I had Apple tv as the tv series is on there - Slow Horses.

Book club this afternoon, perhaps there will be cake and fizz again!

All Christmas presents now bought, just one to collect from M&S tomorrow; it's the earliest I've been this ready! Will probably wrap them next week.

Have a good day everyone.

Understand you well grannygravy I’m in agony but all the painkillers have the same effect. Feel like I’m doomed with or without them. Have a good day all.

Ladyleftfieldlover Wed 27-Nov-24 08:18:59

Morning all from an extremely wet West Oxfordshire. Two of the routes out of the village are quite flooded!

I will be mainly reading today - a fictional account of a book shop in Paris. It is my book group tomorrow and I haven’t read the set book yet. I have been reading a history of the Plantagenets which is so good.

This evening I will be listening to a talk on the Thames in London while OH watches football again.

I am expecting a multitude of parcels to be delivered today. Then I’ll have to wrap them all up!

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning from Shropshire where it is raining again.

We are going to visit mum this afternoon then have rescheduled our plans until Tuesday.I am feeling uncomfortable after a small procedure at the hospital on Monday so we are having a few days off.I feel very behind with Christmas prep as the last few months have been so busy so will hopefully get started on lists and cards over the next few days.

Oops what a time you are having with your new bathroom.Hope it’s sorted soon🤞🏻

Thoughts with Kalu and Grandmabatty and all in pain or in the sick bay💐

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire. My phone always gives me the choice of South Dakota, South America, or South Africa. You would think by now it would know where I live.

Yesterday was my last dental hygienist appointment for three months, hooray. The parish meeting last night went well, plans made to spend money on much needed upgrades and repairs to the hall.

I’m doing a shift in the charity shop this afternoon, I’m taking things slowly though, being sensible about what I can do. Coincidentally I completed the manual handling course online yesterday as my certificate had expired. It was a timely reminder to look after my back.

Sorry to hear that you’re in pain Kalu.

Beautiful blue sky Bellasnana.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Nov-24 08:26:57

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 3° and damp. Grannygravy it's cocodamol I have been prescribed! Bellasnana I could do with some Mediterranean sunshine here.
Last night was a better night, thank goodness. The painkillers and rest combined to give me a more comfortable night's sleep. I was still up a few times but able to sleep between loo visits. I have blood tests this afternoon related to diabetes. It's my annual review which is very, very overdue. Apart from that, I'll continue to rest and move about in equal measure. Have a good day all

Good morning Mick and everyone from frosty Carlisle where, fortunately, we are not due to suffer from that storm.

I got all my errands in town done satisfactorily yesterday and treated myself to a coffee and the expensive biscuits in my usual place. I confess to a weakness for ginger biscuits but never have them or any other flavour in the house.
I finally bought the jacket I have found a 'need' for! I decided to get out of my comfort zone and extend my colour palette some time ago and found it's no use buying one major item without getting various others to go with it. Only the handbag remains now. You would think I have a hectic social life judging by my stuffed wardrobes but I'm really a bit of a hermit. I can't remember how I used to manage on far, far less even when I worked.
Today, a clean of the bathrooms and maybe pop a plant or two in the garden. After that, I'd really like to start a new book but I have a new toy to play with, a small carpet washer bought to clean the stair carpets and rugs.

I hope you all have the best possible day, and pain relief for those of you suffering... who seem to be on the increase.

Annypop Wed 27-Nov-24 08:33:31

Good morning from County Durham.
I'll spend some time today gathering my wreath making materials together as we'll be out holly hunting later in the week. I have eight to make in total, for the cemetery plus family front doors. This will be the sixth year I've made them!
The decorations from the loft could do with sorting too ready for 1st December when the house becomes Christmassy. No tree though, until after DD birthday party, as there will be any space until a week into the month.
Another in person delivery expected today so we won't be out and about.
Have the best day you can everyone.

Good morning all and it’s wet and breezy here in Essex.

Yesterday’s Bridge club was chaotic as cards had been mixed, players sitting in the wrong seats and general mayhem. But we laughed and stopped for tea and cake. We’re all good friends, some I’ve known for over 50 years , so no ill feelings were had.

Today I’ll catch the bus up the hill , meet my friend for a coffee and do a bit more Christmas shopping. I must get tinsel (ours is all in the loft waiting for ds1 to come round.
We have our dress rehearsal T this afternoon for the U3A concert and need to decorate our music stands.

Tonight I have choir. We’re called the Busketeers and sing for charity at all sorts of venues. There are a lot of groups around the country. Does anyone belong? 🎶.

Kalu hope your pain eases. It’s a horrible thing.
Gg I’m hoping to get a pedicure spot while I’m in town this morning. Enjoy yours. 👣.
Liberty hope the shopping with your friends goes well. They’re lucky to have you take them . ❤️.

Take care all 🍁☔️

Good morning from coastal West Sussex. It has been raining steadily all night. The forecast says it will be dry from mid-morning so I will wait until later to finish planting bulbs and garden tidy up as we are off to Scotland for 3 weeks tomorrow. We are going by train so I hope they are not disrupted by the weather. The flooding in many areas looks horrific.

Thoughts with all those in pain - so draining of energy.

Marydoll Wed 27-Nov-24 08:49:55

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 1°C, There was a frost, when I went to bed, now it is raining thank goodness.
Now DH won't have to scrape my car 😍, I can't reach the middle of the windscreen.
Yet another night of pain, coughing and bizarre dreams! Grrr.

Kalu, you could delete and reinstall your email account on your phone. If it is an NTL email address, they are no longer supported by Virgin. I had to create a new Outlook email address, when mine stopped working. I understand that this is happening with other providers.
Also you could go into Settings and see if you have switched off something.
I hope your pain eases off. Chronic pain is so debilitating.💐

Yesterday was rather stressful to say the least. I had planned to get out early, so that I could tackle the Safeguarding paperwork, which I need to submit by Friday, but the cowboy builders put paid to that.
I was terrified that DH would fall off the ladder and couldn't leave him.
The FIL, eventually came out to help. DH sent me inside, he could see that I was about to explode.
The FIL tried to say that our gutter was clogged with moss, (nothing to do with them) it was ( despite them being cleaned a few weeks ago) , however it was actually moss, dislodged from their roof and small pieces of felt from their roof..

The icing on the cake was when FIL let it slip, that the builders ran out of roof tiles and borrowed, without asking, the spare ones we had stored at the side of the house.😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
DH wouldn't listen, when I said they were up to something at the side of our house.
The tiles are very difficult to find and we are prone to high winds, hence the stash.
They had been replaced, but one was cracked and not new, ,like ours), so DH climbed the fence and replaced it with one from FIL's new stash. He is not as daft as I thought.😉

DH said that eventually the in laws were very sheepish and he felt sorry for them, when he found out that repairing two loose tiles became, almost a whole roof. Apparently the builders told them that their roof was about to collapse!
The longer he spoke to them, the more they let slip how bad the builders had been.
A lesson learned to use a reputable firm.
We are still awaiting an apology. The only reason, we are not making a fuss, is for the sake of our lovely DIL. Her life is difficult enough.

I eventually got to Sainsbury's, in a really bad mood it was so busy, due to the 25 % off all clothing (till Friday). I am afraid I was a very naughty girl, but managed to pick up some clothing Christmas presents for my girls and Stars Wars pyjamas for DS, who is still a child at heart. I have just remembered, that I left a coat I bought, hidden in the car. DH would not approve! I already have too many coats. 😂

I have a meeting with the PP this morning, so I baked some lemon loaves, one for us, one for the PP and one for my friend, the sacristan, whose wife is so poorly.
I was guilty of procrastinating and avoiding those blasted risk assessments.

Have a good day all. GMB, I hope your pain has eased.💐

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside 2°C.
Enjoyed music club yesterday and read one of my poems as not allowed to sing yet. It’s theme was cosmetic surgery, a bit of black humour. I have lots of serious poems, but they don’t seem appropriate for the gathering.

DD out with old school friends in the evening and I finished painting my Christmas card; white ink on black card, which can be very effective. I struggled with the face (a Snow Queen theme) and ended up cutting out a face on a separate piece of white paper and stuck it on, which worked well. Now I can print it off.

Today to the usual lunchtime recital and DD is in recovery mode after high jinks last night. She brought me a poinsettia and that makes two as my DSister brought one on her visit.

Thoughts to Kalu all in pain and to the flooded🌺 (Lancashire Day)

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 27-Nov-24 09:00:51

Good morning everyone from a chillier south Manchester. Alexa tells me it’s 3°C and will be sunny this afternoon and 6°C but -2°C tonight. Brr! A day for writing the Christmas cards methinks.

My recent blood test result heartened me. My cholesterol had come down in six months (a re-test advised by our lovely GP, Kate, the one who asked would I like a hug when she diagnosed pleurisy back in February and I cried) from 7.8 to 6.4. No idea why but I’ll take it. 😁

Just weighed myself too and I’ve lost 5lbs. In two weeks. Amazing! I’ve not had wine and I think that’s the reason. Well done me (especially as with book club, meeting Himself’s brothers and Sunday lunch with my stepfather I’d been in a pub three times) alcohol free beer is the way to go. It even tastes decent! 🍺🆗

harrigran Wed 27-Nov-24 09:07:05

Good morning from a cold and frosty NE.
Sister and BIL coming today and will take me shopping.
Had a message from SIL in Brussels, he is coming from Brussels next week for a few days while DD is working in Geneva.
Stay safe and warm.

Taichinan Wed 27-Nov-24 09:08:37

Good morning all. The sun is just up over the horizon and the sky is blue with little whispy pink clouds - it's shaping up to be one of those lovely winter days. Only 2° though so the patio doesn't beckon to me as yours does you Mizuna. Glad your journey home was pleasant and uneventful yesterday.
Snap to your mum's hearing NannyJan. It's awful for her, so frustrating not being able to follow conversations - and equally frustrating for you having to repeat everything! I'm getting new hearing aids next week in the hope that I can get a bit more quality of sound in my right ear, but this is the last resort now and I (and those poor people around me) will just have to develop patience - and a sense of humour! - for the future.
Love your sense of humour Oops.
Insomnia is a b*** isn't it LaCrepescule. My sleep pattern is all over the place so I sympathise. But it's so lovely, that feeling of aliveness, after a good night's sleep - when you get one.
Grannygravy what an awful letter from the school!
Today my car is in for its service and MOT (🤞). The exhaust is sounding iffy, so this is not going to be inexpensive, but needs must as there's only a very infrequent local bus service up here so driving is a must for as long as possible. Anyway a gentle day beckons of doing not a lot - making a pot of soup perhaps, and doing a spot of ironing. Sitting reading in the sun in the front sun porch seems even more appealing for a short time ....... .
Have the best day you can everyone, and thoughts with all the poor souls trying to dry out their homes after flooding 🙏flowers

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Wed 27-Nov-24 09:26:02

Another here having problems sending texts Kalu. I only have a Nokia ‘dumb phone’ (suits me - no comments please 🤣) and although I sent a text okay to my LWW friend in Málaga last week, for some reason one on Monday nor yesterday would go. It’s not PAYG. I have a monthly contract (SIM only) with 02. What’s going on? I’m in the Trafford Centre on Friday. I think I’ll pop into their shop and ask. Will report back on Saturday on here!

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Nov-24 09:32:53

Kalu sciatica is so painful. You have my sympathy 💐

Taichinan Wed 27-Nov-24 10:26:51

Grandmabatty I'm glad you're beginning to feel a bit better. You'll be amazed at how great you feel after a while of enforced rest. I feel at the moment as if I'm walking on air rather than wading through mud!,

Grandmabatty Wed 27-Nov-24 11:43:07

Thank you Taichinan. I should have been having the boys for a sleepover on Saturday but other arrangements have been made. My plans for Sunday I've cancelled too as they involved driving for a while and standing about for a couple of hours. Although I'm sad to miss the event, I'd rather recover. I'm glad you are much better

GrannyIvy Wed 27-Nov-24 12:48:38

I’m a little late with a Good Morning, it all got a bit hectic earlier with a change of plan. I was going Christmas shopping with a friend but had a text from DD2 at 7 this morning as little monkey had a high temperature and croaky voice and not well enough for school so she brought him here as she had a hair appointment that if cancelled would have been difficult to re book. We have to book hair appointments with this chap two or three months in advance and never cancel as so difficult to reschedule!!
He is a poorly little boy but happy watching tv and flitting from one thing to another. My friend was understanding and we have sorted a new shopping trip for next week.
