Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.

We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.

By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.

I am off to my bed.

Thank you all for being extra special people. flowers moon]

A very late Good Evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!🥰

That sounds like fun, Tilly, we could have a real good blether! I've been fortunate to meet up with our brook, baggs and Grandmabatty at the Glasgow Grans' get together, we can talk for Scotland! It would be brilliant to have a Soop's Kitchen meet up, we are blessed to have so many friends in this special place. 💕

Our church was full to overflowing this morning for the Requiem Mass of our former neighbours ' daughter. Mourners were in the choir loft and the Baby Chapel, and standing at the back. It was very moving, but uplifting, hopefully a comfort to her family, friends and colleagues. So sad.
Back to our usual Friday afternoon with the Wee Boy after school. He was really tired today after his first full week of the new year. Sometimes we forget he is still only four. We will meet up with them again tomorrow, at the other end of the country, for DGS1' s 18th birthday celebrations, looking forward to seeing everyone.

UsedToBeBlonde, I hope you get some relief from your painful arm, so sorry to hear how ill it is making you feel.
SueD, best wishes for the family wedding celebrations! 🥂
Grandmabatty, you sound nice and cosy. I hope your hip is behaving better today.🤞
brook, safe journey and have a wonderful holiday in Spain. 🇪🇸 🌞😎✈️🍷 This is the perfect time to go! It was minus 10 here overnight, and minus 6 in the car when I drove up to church just before 9 this morning.

Thinking of all in our cosy Quiet Corner.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Friday night and a good sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

tchenvy Brooke.
I hope you have a lovely break away from this freezing weather.

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Jan-25 22:33:35

Have a lovely time Brook. Enjoy the sunshine and warmer weather

gillgran Fri 10-Jan-25 22:04:08

Enjoy your holiday, brook, the warmer weather will be welcome. Safe travels. We'll look forward to hearing all about it. x

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Jan-25 21:40:11

You’d be very welcome Tilly any good on the music round or Dingbats? Either way, it would be smashing.
Exciting brook sounds perfect, safe journeys and have a wonderful time.
I hope Blossoming is safe and warm.

brook2704 Fri 10-Jan-25 21:33:27

That does sound lovely Tilly I’d also love to chat with you and many others in the kitchen - if only we could …. Thank you for the compliment about my garden, it’s my main hobby during the summer months and my happy place
Good news about your decorator uttb, I hope all goes to plan
I’ll be joining your aunt and uncle in the warmer weather soon, grandmabatty, we’re off down to Glasgow airport tomorrow for an early flight to Spain on Sunday. I’ve loved the snowy scenery here this last week but I’m ready for a change now! It’s still very cold here, about minus 8° tonight
Hoping SueD wedding this week has all gone well
Sending warmest hugs to all in the quiet corner x

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Jan-25 20:49:57

Tilly that sounds lovely. I, too, would like to sit and chat with you. I have chatted with Grannmarie and Brook and Baggs too who are regulars in the kitchen.
I had stovies for dinner and watched totp. I've gone to bed to read with the electric blanket on. Small pleasures. Take care all

TillyTrotter Fri 10-Jan-25 20:14:23

Do any of you wise, friendly ladies find your minds turn to whimsical thoughts at the start of a New Year?
Leave cares and ill health to one side and dream of doing something really different for at least one of the days in 2025?
I’d like to live where soop does, with brook ‘s garden, walk in FGT’s park, go to Jax ‘s local pub quiz and share chat and stories with grandma’s batty and marie.
You all inspire with your daily entries in soop’s comforting kitchen.

TillyTrotter Fri 10-Jan-25 20:00:33

I had the 2 dose Shingles Vacc. FGT and found the 2nd time made me very unwell for a couple of days.
I hope you are not similarly affected, but maybe arrange a day when you don’t have commitments for 48 hrs just in case. 🦋

gillgran Fri 10-Jan-25 19:51:39

Sorry that you are feeling so poorly, Utbb, I do hope you soon feel better. Good news that your decorator seems to be on track now.

This really cold weather doesn't help to cheer us, does it? -4 last night, it managed to reach +2 this afternoon. Forecast for an even colder night tonight. here in Cambs.,

Kind thoughts for you all, especially those with extra worries & problems just now. x

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 10-Jan-25 19:14:47

‘Evening All’.

Fish in the oven, potatoes on the hob. Snow melted in the sun this afternoon but it’ll freeze over again tonight. Roll on Monday when temperatures are set to rise!

I feel so much better today after my first shingles jab on Wednesday. I was truly out of sorts yesterday with muscle aches and a blinding headache. When it lifted at lunchtime I felt back to normal (whatever that is) and even did some housework …. 😂 not too much, mind. Let’s not be silly.
#lazygran

Oh uttb if it’s a frozen shoulder you have, you have my sympathy. I had one in 2010 (just after youngest daughter’s wedding which is why I remember the date!). Takes about 3 months to settle. Eventually it goes all on its own.

Jaxjacky Fri 10-Jan-25 18:44:21

Some good news utbb and some not, definitely GP, try your pharmacist in the interim for advice.
A cold, but sun on and off day, some cleaning done and delivered shopping was put away, we’ve just returned from the pub, it’s cold out there!
Thank you for your compliments on the outfit 🙂
Stay warm.

Redcar Fri 10-Jan-25 17:06:59

So pleased that your decorator turned up today utbb. I hope your shoulder feels more comfortable soon.
My hairdresser came this afternoon, and I now feel more human and look tidier!
Still bitterly cold here, but sunny. Managed to put the bins out at lunchtime after the frost had gone, so ready for collection tomorrow. The empties will have to wait until the frost has gone tomorrow before I venture out to get them in.
Stay warm this evening, it’s going to be another cold one!

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Jan-25 16:21:06

Cooried, not copied

Grandmabatty Fri 10-Jan-25 16:20:32

UTBB in very glad your decorator turned up but sorry to hear about your shoulder. Sounds like a frozen shoulder. Maybe a visit to the doctor?
I have been to Aldi and stocked up the fridge and cupboards. I cleaned the kitchen and washed and dried towels and copied down. My aunt let me know it was 23° in Spain and they had lunch on their balcony. It hasn't got above 0° here. Stovies for dinner later. All the best to you all

Usedtobeblonde Fri 10-Jan-25 15:54:36

I am so pleased to say the decorator has been , sorted out how much wallpaper I need and will be here on Monday morning.
I have not been able to wear a bra today as I could not move my arm to fasten it.
I managed a zip through top fortunately.
We have had a slight thaw but still bitterly cold.
Stay warm and stay safe everyone.

brook2704 Fri 10-Jan-25 15:40:41

Oh my goodness uttb sending you the gentlest hug, hope things improve a bit soon, take care ❤️

Usedtobeblonde Fri 10-Jan-25 11:23:58

Really not recall, blooming autocorrect.

Usedtobeblonde Fri 10-Jan-25 11:22:52

Good morning all from a sunny but bitterly cold day here.
-3 at the moment , up from -8 during the night.
I am feeling very sorry for myself and about ten years older than I am.
I have not been well for a few days , spent all yesterday in bed but must get moving today.
I woke two days ago with a very painful shoulder and it has steadily got worse.
I can hardly use my right arm and it seems to be hanging like a block of wood.
It is so bad I feel sick with it.
Strong painkillers and ibuprofen gel is having no effect .
I also had mild toothache but the painkillers have seen that off thank goodness.

I have a bad feeling about the decorator as well.
I have heard nothing from him since Monday, I recall am in despair about ever getting it done.

Enough of me and my moaning, so pleased the Soops got to their appointments and I hope very sincerely that all of you under the weather start to improve.
Also very very good wishes to Yia and her family for a wonderful wedding day.How exciting is that.

hulahoop Fri 10-Jan-25 11:21:39

I hadn't posted for a while then I lost the post I wrote last evening .Sending (((hugs)) to those needing them.
Love the dress *Jaxjacky *unfortunately I can't wear that colour .fed up of pavements being very slippy it's solid ice I know there are worse things groan over. Take care everyone.

brook2704 Thu 09-Jan-25 22:34:55

Good to hear Mr & Mrs Soop got home safely and I hope are resting now, what kind friends they are
We’re just in from a really enjoyable evening at the theatre to see the RSNO Viennese Gala night ,it was lovely uplifting music on this cold wintry night
Lovely necklace and dress Jax, a gorgeous outfit
Hope the pain eases soon grandmabatty take care
A sad time tomorrow morning grannmarie, hope all goes well x

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 09-Jan-25 22:24:50

Hello kitchen people.

I’m glad to hear that the Soops successfully completed their hospital trips. What kind friends.

OH and I attended the monthly U3A talk. OH has been to quite a few and enjoyed them. I’ve been to a couple. I’m afraid this one was diresad She really didn’t know her topic and the final slide was of all the disparate talks she gives! Anyway, it was good to meet up with people we know and have a cup of tea.

Sleep 💤 tight.

Grannmarie Thu 09-Jan-25 22:18:41

Sorry to hear such sad news, YiaYia, my condolences to your DDIL and all the family.
Beautiful photo, brook, thank you! It's still very frosty and icy here, not a lot of snow.
Hello 👋 Dusty, good to see you, I hope you and MrD. are doing OK.
NannyG4, I'm so sorry. I'm thinking of you, and all with sorrow, especially those like you experiencing the particular pain of ' firsts'. Sending love and prayers that you may all find some comfort in memories of happier times. 💕🙏🕯
Well done on your walk, Redcar, you're making great progress!
Nannytopsy, I had a block of private physio sessions for my knee last summer, it certainly helped. £45 per 45 min session, but your health is your wealth.
What a journey, Soop, I'm glad things went well and you're both home safe and sound. What lovely friends you have! I hope MrSoop doesn't have to wait too long for his skin graft, and that you get a decision soon about your treatment.
Hello 👋 Tilly trotter, lovely to see you in the kitchen. I hope you are keeping well.
Grandmabatty, I hope the rest and your cosy oodie have helped your sore hip. Pain wears you down. Put your feet up as much as possible!
Jaxjacky, your dress is beautiful! I really like the sleeves and the pockets. The necklace is just the perfect accessory, excellent choice. Like Gillgran, ( hello 👋) I love that warm berry colour.

Tomorrow morning we have the funeral of our former neighbours' daughter, who died before Christmas. Poor family, they've had a long wait to see her laid to rest. Then back to our Friday routine of picking up the Wee Boy from school, looking forward to that!

Wishing everyone a peaceful Thursday evening and a good night's sleep. TOYA, NNGB.

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Jan-25 22:04:35

Jaxjacky very nice. I like the necklace and the dress. The colour is sumptuous. FGT your very own superhero!
I have given up and come to bed with a couple of paracetamol and my electric blanket on. My hip is aching and my feet are sore. I'm falling apart! Hopefully tomorrow it will ease off. I definitely think it is the cold weather to blame. Toya

Redcar Thu 09-Jan-25 21:05:36

I like the dress and necklace jax, I’ve just realised I don’t have any winter dresses as I live in jeans or other trousers!
Pleased you got home safely yesterday soop.
Good you were able to get out today nannytopsy.
I didn’t go out today, my hip was achy after yesterday’s walk, and it was so cold, even though it was a lovely sunny day here. I cleaned the kitchen and mopped the floor, so that was my exercise for the day!
Night night everyone, stay warm!
