FGT The friend I posted about yesterday has an appointment at the Christie in Macclesfield on Friday, his first.
It is worrying just how fast his appointments are being arranged.
My neighbour had all his treatment in Macc as well.

Oh uttb it’s a worry isn’t it when it’s people we love? Try not to overthink just yet. Your friend is in the system already and the medics have seen it all before. He’s in good hands.

Our friend has only just been referred to Christie’s. He has lost so much weight he looks gaunt so isn’t strong enough yet for chemotherapy to begin. That the big difference I think. Your friend might be ‘good to go’.

My experience of fast hospital referrals is that when it’s cancer or a suspicion of cancer, one is put on the two-week pathway. That was the case when I had breast cancer in 2017 and when I had a scare (fortunately there was nothing wrong) earlier this year.

I had an interesting day. I had lunch with a group of friends. My Pavlova with lashings of cream and raspberries and strawberries seemed to go down well. It was all eaten. One friend who has a much younger husband, bosses him around endlessly. I hope he doesn’t snap one day.

I do hope Mr Soop has a successful hospital visit this week.

That is my experience too, LLfL. In the run up to DD's death (after a year of 'build up' – we knew it was terminal all along) I had some odd post-menopausal symptoms. Not only was I given GP appointments the same day I called each time but got very quick referrals. All was in fact well so I concluded the symptoms were induced by stress.

uttb, good that your friend is getting seen quickly. Bound to be worrying all the same.

Love to mrsoop for tomorrow and mega-hopes that the buses behave this time! Is there any way you could persuade him to ask for the distances he has been asked to travel to be taken into consideration, given his age, when further appointments are made, soop? Perhaps it isn't possible but in his shoes I'd certainly be asking.

How sad for you utbb I do hope the Friday appointment offers some clarity and a degree of reassurance.
I too hope Mrsoop has a stress free journey as much as he can tomorrow.

Hi all a mild but damp day, raining now, out for a festive lunch with a friend, it was disappointing, from a place that’s usually very good.
Anyway, MrJ and I have designated tomorrow as wrapping day, tah da! He’ll wrap and I write labels, pretty good split I reckon 🙂

jax I think your DH may have drawn the short straw with the wrapping! I still have to wrap the fairy wings for two of the granddaughters, will do it tomorrow when everyone is out.
I had a good day today, went for a slightly longer walk today, it was a bit windy but ok. A friend came over to see me, the husband of my friend with dementia. He has respite care for his wife on Wednesday afternoons and likes to get out of the house for a bit. My lovely son in law provided lunch for us all.
I have quite a few Christmas cards here now, but will take them home when I call in on Friday & put them up at home so it looks a bit festive when I move back after Christmas.

Just in from pub & curry. A late night for us! Friends coming over from Bolton were much delayed on the M62. Traffic then tail to tail around the Trafford Centre. We were sat in the pub for 40 minutes waiting for them like Billy No Mates hence the later evening for all of us! No matter. A most enjoyable evening.

Good luck wishes to mr soop for tomorrow. Travel safely. I also wish he could be treated closer to home.

It was the U3A Christmas lunch today. It was all delicious. There was so much food that we took some turkey back for the cats. They demolished it!

There's a lot of worry and sadness on here at the moment always seems to be at Christmas.
I have cancelled a day out with friend I have been coughing and sneezing and feeling generally rough I didn't want to pass out on. Best wishes to all.

Today is last school pick up for DGS and I’m doing us a surprise afternoon tea. Then DH are out to a Ratpack type Christmas show. He’s a bit under the weather with the lurgey like many. We’re getting to the state where a week in the sun is calling us!

I'm thinking of all those with sick family and/or friends, especially hard at this time of year. Hope you have good company today, Soop, until MrSoop returns from his medical expedition.

DH and I were out and about yesterday, picked up his Christmas presents, I've just his stocking to do now! He wrapped most of the AC and GC gifts in the afternoon, I filled their stockings, then in the evening we celebrated DDiL1's birthday with their family at her parents' home. Lovely evening, good to see our older grandchildren. 🥰

This evening I'm meeting my friend and former colleague for our Christmas catch up and exchange of small gifts. We managed to get cancellation tickets for the early evening Christmas Ghost Story in our local library, then we're going for a fish tea at the nice loch side hotel in the nearby country park. Looking forward to it!

All our preparations and to-ing and fro- ingredients have been overshadowed by the heartbreaking news of the tragic death of our former neighbours' daughter, poor young woman has taken her own life. I remember her playing in their garden with her sister and friends, a lovely, happy child. My heart goes put to her family, I see her grandmother regularly. So sad. 💕🙏

By ‘eck it’s brass monkeys out there this evening! I’m not long back from watching L’il Miss at her last swimming lesson till the NY. I’m minding her tomorrow as Teacher Mummy doesn’t finish work until tomorrow afternoon, same as the Boy Wonder. I’d best set the alarm for 6:45am as I’m being picked up by them at 7:30am - it’ll still be dark! 😱

I imagine mr.soops has not been long home. Feet up recounting the day’s events to his wonderful missus. Like everyone here I hope he’s fine. He’ll be exhausted I expect.
(Mind you some people will go to extraordinary lengths to get out of a competitive game of Scrabble if their scores have been low of late).

Wrapping went to plan and all done, apart from gifts to each other, I’ll do mine Saturday when he’s out.

I’ve had a lovely day, a festive lunch out overlooking the River Ness, really good company, food and just the right amount of wine. And then this evening I’ve been packing for my weekend trip away to see DD1 and family in Cambridge. Lots of family time ahead which I enjoy so much.
