Soop's kitchen for caring and sharing...
(1001 Posts)Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.
We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.
By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.
I am off to my bed.
Thank you all for being extra special people.

So sorry it’s late Baggs but I hope you’ve enjoyed your birthday today x 💐🎂
Happy birthday, Baggs. I hope you’ve been spoilt.
This new Kitchen is very cosy. I’ve brought mince pies with brandy and cream so tuck in, everyone. Xx
It’s been a long three month wait for tests but today it was confirmed that my dh has an incurable illness, caused by his work as a young man. It’s been a very stressful time but at least today’s appointment has given us some hope that the condition can be controlled with treatment, hopefully for some time to come, and we can continue doing what we enjoy.
We’re both utterly exhausted with the stress of it all but now we know there’s a plan, we feel a bit more in control.
TOYA. Xxx
Thank you for opening the new kitchen soop and lovely to see everyone here
That must be such a shock SueD but I hope the necessary treatment is successful and the illness can be controlled, thinking of you and your DH and sending ❤️
Thanks Jax we arrived safely in Cambridge early afternoon and have been busy all evening with DGSs birthday celebrations. We had takeaway pizza and a chocolate brownies birthday cake as requested by DGS. Off to bed now as it’ll probably be an early start.
Hope everyone from the quiet corner has joined us again in the new kitchen, take care all x
Just arriving in time to wish Baggs a happy birthday.
Lovely new kitchen Soop
Sad news from you SueD but hopefully it can be kept stable for a long time.
I also have a condition, now confirmed, of Myeloma , but like your H it is stable and should stay that way for my lifetime.
If I I were a younger person it would be a different story bit as I am not it not as bad as I feared.
I have had a difficult and upsetting day.
My S who lives with me has said his stepdaughter and his two youngest S’s are here for Christmas, this is out of the blue, made worse by the fact that the SD has two dogs who are coming too.
My S is on the autism spectrum and cannot see that it is a problem which should at least have been discussed.
I have only told my GD about an hour ago , it has not gone down well!!
I hope Baggs has enjoyed her day. Bittersweet I am sure.
I’m sorry I missed your birthday Baggs but I hope you enjoyed your day and were spoiled.
Lovely new kitchen - thank you soop.
We fell asleep last night to the sound of an animal scratching somewhere in the bedroom wall. It’s a modern, timber framed house with insulation in the walls. It’s happened a couple of times over the years but I hope it goes away!
I hope everyone has a good Saturday!
Just popped out of the quiet corner for a catch up.
SueD, I am so sorry to hear about your DH. I hope that you feel less exhausted now you have some certainty and can see the way forward.
UTBB, offering a gentle hug for your Christmas arrangement and a bigger one on your diagnosis.
Suedonim I'm really sorry to hear about your dh. You sound very positive though which will stand you both in good stead.
SueD I hope there’s some reassurance that treatment is available and the condition can be managed, what an ordeal for you both.
utbb hopeful you are reassured too, I feel for you regarding Christmas, can you disappear to a hotel for a couple of days for some peace and quiet? 🌹
Suedonim sorry to learn you have had bad news regarding your DH’s diagnosis, hoping his treatment keeps him on an even keel. 🌸
Usedtobeblonde oh dear, it is unsettling when decisions are foisted on us, particularly at Christmas (((hugs)))
So sorry, SueD, hope that management is good and you can see a way forward. At least you know what you are dealing with and not worrying about what might be wrong, but that’s a small consolation. Utbb, not surprised you are depressed by Christmas, and you shouldn’t have to escape from your own home. Can you at least refuse the dogs? Family life!
So sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis SueD.I hope with treatment his symptoms can be controlled and managed.Thinking of you both.
UTBB I feel for you having your home invaded over Christmas How upsetting.I hope that your recently diagnosed condition can be managed too.
TOYA
Although I don't post on this thread I've been following it for a long, long time.
This kitchen is warm and welcoming so I'll just sit quietly in the corner and enjoy reading about what you are all doing.
Thank you, soop, for opening another lovely kitchen.
suedonim sorry to hear about your DH and I hope the illness can be managed to enable him to enjoy life for a long time to come.
utbb sorry to hear firstly about your diagnosis and secondly about your forthcoming invasion for Christmas. I can’t offer any useful advice, sorry.
nannytopsy I hope you managed to get some sleep, despite the scratchy noises from the wall. I hope that whatever it is goes away quickly!
Have a good day everyone.
SueD and Utbb 💐💐
A very warm welcome to blue14
SueD I am also sorry to hear of your husband's diagnosis. With the best treatment available to him I feel that with your support he will continue to enjoy his life.
Utbb My love wings it's way to you.
Hello, dear kitty. I spend frequent visits in the quiet corner. It helps to recharge my batteries.
I shall now return to watch snooker. I am supporting Wilson. After tomorrow's final, I shall return to the usual routine and continue riding my exercise bike to no place.
Sue, so sorry to read about your husband, I hope the treatment is successful.
Back again. I`ve just been told I have a new great granddaughter, born at 11.45pm last night. She`s to be called Haisling, no, I haven`t heard it before either! I`m going to see her tomorrow.
A lurker in the kitchen
Thank you Soop for opening a new one, always a cosy place to be.
Thoughts go to those feeling sad, unwell or with worries.
I have my first annual pacemaker check next week,a bit anxious that all is well. I will find out how often I have been in atrial fibrillation as it is asymptomatic and if it’s got worse might need more treatment.
Til then I will sit quietly in the corner in this welcoming kitchen.
Wishing everyone a peaceful night.
Hellogirl, a new baby GGD, bringing love and joy amongst sadness here in the kitchen. x
Congratulations ^Hellogirl1*
I have started decorating the house, DH has put up the outside lights, will finish tomorrow apart from the real tree in the sitting room which DH and the 9yr old old will choose next weekend.
About to have a nice glass of wine whilst DH cooks dinner (steak frites)

A new kitchen! How lovely. I’ve just popped in to wish Baggs a happy birthday 🎂 and also to say how sorry I am that dear Mr Soop has been through the wars with his poor head. It sounds as though he’s being well looked after so I hope for healing for him.🙏🏻
Sorry, but I don’t understand this post. What’s it all about? What have I been missing?
Hi all, congratulations Hellogirl unusual name, enjoy your visit.
👋👋 Thorntrees and good luck for next week and hello to you Crosstitch Mr soop has had surgery on his head
Lazy day today, drizzly and dull, read the paper, watched football, wrapped a present and wrote a card (both for friends tomorrow).
Dinner will be ready soon, chicken and veg in slow cooker and we may watch a film.
