Welcome dear Kitcheners. I am very happy to be opening the door to my favourite Granspals.

We have a new Aga. The atmosphere is cosy ' The buffet is ready for the sharing of. In the quiet corner we have music to suit all tastes. There are reclining chairs and cosy blankets and if all one wants to do is relax, then please do so.

By the way, it is a dear pal Baggs birthday tomorrow. There is a birthday cake in the larder. There is also plenty of Champagne with which to toast her.

I am off to my bed.

Thank you all for being extra special people. flowers moon]

Sorry ladies should review before I post should say OH.

Redcar Thu 05-Dec-24 17:03:43

nannytopsy I hope that your pre op assessment goes well
on Monday. Those chips will taste delicious!
corner I’m sorry you’re feeling low at the moment, the short daylight hours combined with gloomy weather probably don’t help either. Thinking of you and soop.
I haven’t been out today, too wet and windy for me, also no one to accompany me. The family don’t want me walking around outside on my crutches in case I fall, which is fair enough. Tomorrow is my last anti coagulant injection - hooray. I shall abandon the compression socks soon, they keep me awake at night.
Thinking of those with anxieties and illness and hoping you will soon feel better. Have a peaceful evening everyone, hope the wind and rain don’t keep us all awake!

Yiayia4 Thu 05-Dec-24 17:14:12

Evening Kitcheners.
SueD Sorry to hear about your husband and hope the treatment helps you both live life to the full.
I’m sorry can’t catch up with everyone but, wish you all well as always.
It’s been a very up and down week.DH has recovered from his chest infection and physically much better. However the catheter stays, he could have an operation but it’s risky so he will be reassessed again in January. He’s very low and also worried the cancer will return as of course he can’t have chemo or radiotherapy. We all try and reassure him and I’m hoping as time goes on he will start to enjoy life a bit more. Its still early days and a lot of things to get used to.

It’s our dear friends funeral tomorrow and we have been told to wear bright colours,I’ve dug out a bright greek shirt for DH and I have a red velvet top.Our friend loved bright colours and always wore brightly coloured sweaters and tops. Its so sad to think we will never see him in them again.

Sorry I’m going on a bit today but hope you all have a good evening and hugs to you all.

I have had cystitis and Covid, but I am definitely on the mend now. I have been as far as the bins, but getting dressed is a step too far.

I had a lot of cancelling to do this week. The Specsavers computer did not understand that I would ring when I felt better

Luckily, I have had every vaccine known to man, so it could have been worse.

Jaxjacky Thu 05-Dec-24 19:11:21

How difficult for you both Yia, it’s lovely to hear from you and you’re not going on at all. May tomorrow pass peacefully.
Stretch class this morning tested out other parts of me using the band thingy, it’s been a dark, dank day and we now have rain and wind. I can understand your gloom corner, hopefully you’ll find some cheer soon.
Good luck for Monday topsy limited diet this weekend sounds tedious!
Sensible to stay in Redcar furrow that carpet groove 🙂

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 05-Dec-24 19:52:52

‘Evening All’.

I’ve had a mani/pedi today - such a relaxing ‘me time’ of two hours. And no achey arm LLFL from my Covid jab yesterday thankfully. 😊

Sending a huge hug from me Yiayia - the mental anguish living with cancer in a household is second to none isn’t it? Always being alert for anything untoward… It truly is exhausting.

Aw soop such heartfelt wishes from you thinking of others who are enduring tough times. All of us in here are so very fortunate not to be worrying about life’s basic needs.

As usual at this time of year I’m sharing with you all this delightful Christmas card that always brings a smile - with my very warmest wishes. x

Yiayia4 Thu 05-Dec-24 21:21:26

Rest up Charleygirl glad you’re on the mend.💐
Love the card FGT

SueDonim Thu 05-Dec-24 21:26:10

Utterly exhausted tonight. Dh had a long appointment with an oncologist this afternoon. He was given three options for going forward, none of which much appeal. It’s so difficult to know what’s the right thing to do.

Xxx

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 05-Dec-24 21:31:16

SueDonim 💐
I feel for you. x
I hope in time whichever option is chosen that it’s the absolute best for him. 🤞

GrannyGravy13 Thu 05-Dec-24 21:38:39

Aww, I've just lost my long post☹️
Suffice to say, I had a great afternoon at the Glasgow Grans meet up yesterday, wonderful to catch up with our very own brook and Grandmabatty, and several Grans from the GM thread, lovely ladies all!.

Neine, I laughed out loud at your tale, hilarious!

Good morning all.
A sad day amongst a sad time for you Hellogirl I hope you have support from your family who are also grieving.
Well the decorator didn’t turn up and no explanation so she is written off and I am back to square one.
It won’t get done until after Christmas now.
I had a very senior moment last night.
I went to Christmas meal with my friend, it was the worst weather you can imagine, I was soaked just getting to the car.
It was a good evening , lovely meal but when we went to get our coats I just knew the coat I was handed wasn’t mine.
It is a full length black quilted coar you see 90% of the population wearing.
It just didn’t feel right and when I put it on it was far too small.
As it was the only one of that type there I just had to come home in it with details left at the venue.
I didn’t see my GD until this morning and I told her, she checked and said it certainly isn’t your coat it is size 8 and it is mine!!
I had put hers on in my haste to get out, struggling against the rain and trying to hold an umbrella.
I suppose all’s well that ends well but I do feel foolish.

cornergran Fri 06-Dec-24 12:19:23

Been to my volunteering sessions this morning, it always brightens me. Thank you all for your kindness. I’ve given myself a stern talking to.

Soon off to get the groceries we’d planned to get tomorrow in advance of our friends coming on Sunday until Thursday. We’re firmly in a red wind warning with forecast gusts up to 90mph from 3am tomorrow (not sure how they can be so precise) it seemed sensible not to think of venturing out, today is calmer although I’m sure the shops will be packed. The joys of coastal living.

Feel for you both sued and yia. Tough times flowers. For you too hellogirl. A sad day for sure.

That made me smile usedtobe. It’s the sort of thing I do. Pleased all ended well.

That doesn’t sound good charley. Take it gently and get properly better.

Must be off. Stay safe everyone. My thoughts are with everyone managing life’s challenges. TOYA.

soop Fri 06-Dec-24 14:38:15

SueD, Yia Hellogirl NannyG4, together with every one of our dear Granspals who have ongoing concerns and sadness, be assured that us lot care and are here whenever you feel the need to share.

Redcar Fri 06-Dec-24 17:07:02

I was glad that the gale force winds and torrential rain stopped at about midnight last night, but not looking forward to tonight’s storm. I’m in the loft bedroom and the office in the next room has velux windows so it gets very noisy with the rain on them. DD2 took my back to my house this morning to collect post and collect various bits and pieces. All was well there, the fuchsias in the front garden are flowering better now than they did in the summer.
I had my last anticoagulant injection today, yippee! Not sure when to ditch the compression socks, I don’t want a dvt, but not sure how much longer I can put up with them. There’ll be a cutting up ceremony probably one day next week!
Thinking of yia, *sued’ and anyone else with worries and anxieties about their own health or that of close family.
Batten down the hatches everyone, let’s hope the storm isn’t as bad as forecast.

Jaxjacky Fri 06-Dec-24 18:44:11

A difficult day yesterday Hellogirl 🌹
One down Redcar one to go, I’d check about the socks 🤞
Library today, gosh some people really shouldn’t be driving, twelve goes at parking in a space, I held my breath.
Just in from the pub, the wind is stirring and there’s light rain, I hope the Christmas lights in our road stay intact, they’re rather lovely.
My friend was going to Bath market tomorrow, now cancelled, Winchester is closed until a look see at 1pm.
Have a peaceful evening all

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 06-Dec-24 19:02:10

‘Evening All’.

The wind is getting up here in Urmston and it’s driving the rain. Quite heavy now. Luckily we’re in for the night and are cosy, fed and contented. And in our pyjamas. Why not?

Doodle Fri 06-Dec-24 19:11:02

Suedonim wishing your DH well. Hoping he gets the right treatment.
Thinking of Yiayia and FGT too hope all is going well.
Hellogirl hard day for you. flowers
NannyG4 keep hanging on.
Hello 👋 to all

Grandmabatty Fri 06-Dec-24 19:12:34

Evening. I'm just back from dds house where I was looking after dgs2 while Dsil took dgs1 to his swimming lesson. Dd is at her work's night out. The rain is very heavy and there's flooding locally. Polmont's Christmas event was a wash out, sadly. I'm glad to be home. Dsil bought me a MacDonald meal which I scoffed. I haven't had one in years! I'm going to have a lazy night. Take care all

GrannySomerset Fri 06-Dec-24 19:36:53

Our village Christmas fair tomorrow has been cancelled. I wonder what will happen to my four dozen mince pies?
