Good Morning Friday 29th November 2024
(52 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry here in brackley at the moment .
My usual bus trip to Bicester ,maybe have a coffee and a beer with nose around the street market .
Return and go to the chippy at lunchtime , then relax .
Health wise OK .
Take Care,
Mick
Morning all from a damp rather than frosty West Oxfordshire.
Glad you enjoyed the Van Gough exhibition GM. We saw the Van Goughs in Amsterdam a few years ago. OH loved them. Many, many years ago I saw his Irises painting at an exhibition in Canberra. My favourite. And then, just recently we were in Arles and had a guided tour of his various haunts.
MaryD, I hope you feel better soon.
We are out for lunch today at our favourite restaurant. Hopefully we can book lunch for New Year’s Day. We always have lunch out, just the two of us, to start the New Year.
Have a good day.
Good morning. Sunny and dry in this part of Yorkshire. Thank you for your good wishes yesterday, so kind of you all. I had the works and it is good news. Swelling and pain seem to be long term consequences of last year’s surgery so no new nasties. They found several cysts too but doctor says they are benign so no worries. Feeling relieved. Have as lovely a day as you can. Take care.
My dear friend Kalu. 💐
Good morning Mick and all from 7°C dull northwest coast.
DD left yesterday for the south. I’m joining her there in a couple of weeks and will see my Dsister and take in Carols at the Albert Hall whilst there.
Off to art group soon and after that, further Christmas preparations.
The Van Gogh exhibition sounds so good grandmattie. I went to a light experience of his paintings not so long ago, but it was just not the same.
Thoughts to Kalu 💐and all.
Good morning from a dry NE, it is not as cold as earlier in the week.
Yesterday I had to pour boiling water over the gate latch to get it open, the window cleaner turned up at 8.15 am 🥶 he warned me to be careful as spilled water was freezing as he worked.
DS is coming this afternoon and we are going to see GD in the school production of Chicago this evening. I am so looking forward to it.
Lovely to read about everyone's travels and outings.
Have a good day.
Very good news Autumncolours 👍
Excellent news autumncolours
Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s nice and dry. Alexa tells me it’s currently 6°C rising to 9°C later, staying dry at least.
I’m off to the Trafford Centre today, jumping on the same bus as my friend who will get on it at Chorlton. She’ll text me when she’s on it and I’ll go round to Sainsbury’s and wait five minutes.
I’m so rubbish about shopping (I’m not one, I don’t mooch, I have a list and come home when it’s done) I didn’t realise today is ‘Black Friday’! All I was thinking when we organised it was that all the children will be in school. Duh. Wish me luck …
Good morning from a much milder County Durham.
Holly hunting today but I think we will struggle to find many berries. Having walked through local woodland recently they seem to be in short supply this year.
The afternoon will be spent assembling my wreaths.
Youngest GD2 is eight years old today so we shall pop in to see her after school.
It's scary how quickly the GC are growing. Eldest, who is 24 is in the process of buying his own home. This great 6 footer who was a tiny 2lb born, caused so much worry in his early days. What a lovely young man he has become.
Conservatory was cleaned thoroughly yesterday. I'll see if the windows pass the "low sun" test later in the day.
I hope you have a better day MD. Rest as much as you can.
Lovely to hear about the Van Gogh exhibition GM. I too visited the gallery full of his works in Amsterdam. It was amazing.
What imaginative trees Ginny. At a nearby historic house they sometimes have Christmas trees on display. One I recall was decorated with china cups and saucers . It looked so pretty.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning from a bright and frosty Suffolk. So sorry to read of your difficult day yesterday MaryD but good to read others more positive news about trips and plans for Christmas activities.
Sadly when I was in London with my school friends a couple of weeks ago,all the tickets for the Van Gogh for the weekend were sold out and that was several weeks in advance.
I slept better last night and feel that Ian on the mend apart from an irritating cough which I think may linger for days, given other friends’ recent experiences.
DH and I will walk the little dog in an hour or so and we have a choice of our usual routes as the flood waters have gone. Afterwards we’ll try and complete the list of family Christmas presents and wrap the few we have bought and await the arrival of the rest.
Hope today is a good day for all especially those not feeling at their best.
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Milder today but due to rain.
Kalu all the best to you.
Happy to hear you were given the all
clear Autumncolours
Poor Marydoll it's awful when the things you really want to do have to be cancelled 😢
Wishing you a pain-free day.
Your trip sounds amazing Lauranorder so does yours gMattie.
Though I couldn't have attempted so much in a day. You must be young and fit!
Today I have work this morning then I shall take a selection of my pottery and that of 3 fellow potters, to a craft fair this evening in Edinburgh. Should be fun.
Have a good day everyone.
Kalu
Good morning all. It’s bright but chilly (no frost) here in Essex.
Today we’ll meet our Friday friends for lunchtime drinks and nibbles. The weeks fly by dont they!
Tomorrow ds2 is picking me up along with Dd and little DGD and taking us back to his for the weekend. We’ll watch the Panto where dgd4 is performing and then watch his village Christmas light up. Sunday , we’ll have a walk with their dog and then go to see Wicked at the cinema. A lovely weekend 🙏.
Dh will stay home with the dog and he and ds1 will get the decs down from the loft (I’m secretly hoping they’ll all be up by the time I get home) 🤞
Marydoll glad you’re feeling better today.
Your trip sounds wonderful Laura
GM we did wonder if all was well, so glad you had a lovely day out.
Take care and enjoy the day.
Morning from a grey but dry Glasgow.
After a busy week with church guild events and the like… today is mine!
We will probably take a wee run out somewhere and have a bit of lunch and a walk…my ideal day….well….as good as a shopping day!😜
Sorry to hear that you had another bad day MD 💐
Kalu 💐
Glad you had a good day Grandmattie. I love hearing of all ur busy days…puts me to shame!
Enjoy ur Friday all!
Good morning everyone from Severnside. A cold and bright start to the day.
The heavy frost on my car had melted by the time I went out yesterday morning and no frost today so I’m going swimming. I’m glad I’ve changed my day and go later so I don’t have to get up so early.
Kalu 💐
Your trip sounds very exciting LauraNorderr
Good wishes to all and hope aches and pains soon disappear 🍂🍂
Noticeably warmer this morning so a trip with my neighbour with Altzheimers to the oldies’ coffee morning beckons. She loves to have the same conversations each week and it gives her daughter a short break but I will need a rest when I get home as she is very unpredictable and crossing roads can be tricky.
Lots of doings this morning: lovely to hear of Laura’s wonderful trip and sorryMarydoll is up against it. Must go back and read properly. Hope we all have a good enough day.
Kalu💐. Days like these are very hard.
Good morning Mick and everyone from a rather grey Carlisle where it is now several degrees warmer than yesterday.
I didn't get to do any pruning yesterday, it's not recommended to prune fruit trees when the air temperature is below zero. I wasn't sure about the air but the ground was certainly well frozen so not planting things either.
Today, I'm fed up being indoors and the car isn't iced up so I think I'll have a trip to the garden centre for coffee and one or two things I need then a visit to the nearby food hall as my stocks of 'proper' marmalade are running low. Proper marmalade, to me, means it only consists of fruit, sugar and water and has a non gel consistency, something no supermarket ones achieve.
I've been stocking up on some new winter togs recently, just stuff for knocking around home in, my impression is these things are getting lighter weight, less 'stuff' in them. Manufacturers saving money but the prices go up!
If it doesn't rain, I could well be out in the garden otherwise, reading
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone. There was a sharp frost this morning, but I don’t know what it’s like now, as I haven’t looked out again.
I don’t have much to write about these days but I enjoy hearing about your busy lives.
Happy Friday 🌻
Good morning from a very cold Black Country.
I didn't go on my walk yesterday as it was far to icy and cold. So I did my tax return instead. At least that job is out of the way for the year
Today I am meeting my friend and we are off on the train to Worcester. The Christmas market is on today and the weekend. I have my thermal underwear on.
Sounds like a wonderful trip Laura, you will be on a high for quite a long time I think.
Hoping your eye appointment goes well Monk
Sorry to hear you were in so much pain Marydoll I hope you are feeling much improved today.
kalu
Oh Kalu 💐
And your husband’s golfing partner Marydoll a shock indeed.
And luluaugust’s unwell husband.
Some sadness around on one or two threads at present. Anxiety is so draining when it’s a constant companion. This I know.
However … happy news from grandMattie and LauraNorderr to cheer us all. 😁
Good morning all. Sorry I'm late- and dashing -but I woke at 6.30 and thought I'd have another hour in bed. Three hours later .......! Anyway, it's a grey day on the Angus coast with a temp of 6° after the -1° of yesterday.
And my fingers are all thumbs today - didn't mean to send that!
Yesterday's tai chi was good in spite of my not having had much sleep the night before and then I came home and fell asleep every time I sat down. They say tai chi is very relaxing!
So not a lot achieved yesterday. Today I must take myself off for ideas for Christmas presents. That two weeks in sick bay has left me all behind and chasing my tail. So off I must go. Have a good day everyone and I hope the sun shines and the rain has stopped wherever you are. Take care x
