Good Morning Saturday 30th November 2024
(44 Posts)Good morning from Bristol. The forecast is for another grey day. It’s winter so that’s that. December tomorrow!
I was so very tired yesterday that I decided to do nothing. I had a nap before lunch and another after lunch before going to bed early. My meals were from the freezer.
I changed the towels and the bed, managed to give the towels two successive washes before doing the sheets!
Today, I’m serving coffee. I made some biscuit from the same simple recipe, one batch with coconut and one with cranberry powder. The latter is surprisingly successful probably because they are rather sour.
DD uncharacteristically
I hope everyone has a good day, pain and anxiety free, especially MD. Glad that oldd had a good return to la belle France.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from Malta where it is bucketing down with rain. We really need it so I’m not complaining.
I’m full of a cold and have been coughing half the night so I’m in no hurry to get up.
Didn’t do much yesterday, made some soup, did a bit of shopping, a visit to the pharmacy for some cough medicine and other cold remedies.
Had my usual hair do then got home just before the boys arrived.
They were as sweet as ever, they love coming to Nana’s house and make themselves at home knowing where their toys and snacks are kept!
Poor littlest got progressively wheezier as the day wore on so it was off to the clinic for the nebuliser. I’m sad he’s inherited his mum’s asthma.
It’s not surprising you were worn out grandMattie, you were sensible to have a day of rest.
I don’t see much getting done today although I need to do some dust removal and steam mopping. We shall see…….
Wishing a good day to you all.☀️
Good morning, it’s a damp start to Saturday here in south Glos.
I spent the morning yesterday doing housework, changing the bed etc and got three loads of washing done. The house is tidy so I’m going to enjoy doing whatever I like today. I will put a chicken in the slow cooker and prepare the vegetables after my early dog walk.
I want to make some stitch sample squares to practice embroidery on, they’re simply 2 layers of felt and calico, stitched together. Then I will carry on with one of my WIPs (of which I have several 🙄)
Sending hugs to anyone who needs one 🤗
🌹
Big hugs, Bellasnanna. Lots of honey 🍯 and lemon 🍋 for your cold.
Good morning from the Cotswolds, still dark here so no idea what the weather is like and if the dog knows I’m up she won’t settle until she can go outdoors and it’s too early for that.
Tiler has finished all but a small piece of grouting yesterday, only because it needed a different colour and he didn’t want the wet grout to bleed into the white.
I haven’t seen it as I was here, we have a couple more boxes to open here for the kitchen then just the Electrician to come again on Monday and then I think MissOops is sorted.
At least until the Spring when there are a couple of jobs to do when the weather is warmer.
I hope everyone has a good day and that those who are unwell get some improvement.
Stay warm everyone.
Good morning from s somerset, sunny and warm with fluffy clouds for the whole day today
The roads are still mucky with floody bits, sadly no cycling for the foreseeable. I had to go out in the car yesterday, I never realised that so many fields are still under water. 3.30 and the roads were rammed
Allotment for me this morning, just a couple of hours. I am starting the water butt installation and will be installing 3 on one side of my shed and 3 on the other. It will take a couple of weeks, they arrive here two at a time. We need to be self-contained wrt water.
I did an hour of cleaning and clearing in my garage, which is still dreadfully muddy and full. Perhaps I can get down to cleaning more mud off garden tools this afternoon. They will dry in the sun.I will take today as it comes and will not be wasting the sunshine
Have a good day
Good morning everyone from a still dark Northampton, sunny spells hopefully this afternoon. Yesterday was lovely and sunny and a bit milder.
Had three good dance classes yesterday morning, then hopped on the bus to the shops; I returned the faulty hoodie to M&S, and picked up the new one. Had a coffee and mince pie in their cafe. Met a lovely lady whose children I taught in the 1970s (which reminded me of how old I am!).
Did very little when I got home; just sat and read the newspaper.
This morning will prepare a hotpot for the slow cooker, a quick lunch, and out to watch rugby; we play Gloucester today with an almost full strength team with our England and Scotland internationals back. Must pop in the club shop first, as I want to get gift vouchers for DS-in-law's Christmas present.
And then home to enjoy my hotpot - I will make enough for three meals, so two for the freezer.
Have a pleasant Saturday everyone.
Good morning from a dark W Kent. A bit early for me but a shopping list going round in my head. Parcel packing later.
Best wishes all round
Morning everyone
It’s dark, not sure what the weather is doing.
Local butchers and Aldi first thing. DH will get decorations down from the loft and I will start decorating the house 🎄🎄🎄
Enjoy your day 🙋♀️
Good morning everyone from mid Essex, it’s still dark so I’ve in idea what the weather is doing.
grandmatty your body obviously told you to rest yesterday, good that you were able to catch up on some sleep.
karmalady I envy your energy and your diy skills! Your allotment will soon be producing lots of lovely fresh food for you.
Yesterday my son in law took me back to my house to check that everything was still working properly after several power cuts. Fortunately all the heating controls etc were fine, only the cooker clock needed resetting, but I left it. It will be a few weeks before I go home, plenty of time for more power cuts in the intervening period!
Also had a short physio session, fairly low key, but standing on the operated leg has made it ache a bit.
Busy day here today, the 9 year old has dance & drama for 3 hours, it’s the infants school Christmas fair late morning and so on.
I’ll just carry on with my walking along the hall! Hopefully someone will get me a paper.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a mild Torbay
Yesterday morning I went to Lidl to take advantage of the 10% off voucher, earned by spending £250 in the last month. ( who says two can live as cheaply as one?!) . Controlling a rather heavily laden trolley caused me to pull a muscle or something in my left (which I call my good) leg. By the time I had driven home I could barely walk!
A kind man who was parking nearby carried my shopping to the front door from where neighbours helped me into my flat with it. I left the non-perishable items in the car which I will finish unloading today as my leg seems to have sorted itself out. Very odd!
I hope you feel the benefit of your extra rest, grandMattie.
I admire your energy, BlueSapphire!
Feel better soon, Bellasnana. I’ve had a cough that makes me sound like I’m a heavy smoker!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone! 🦩💐🦩🥰🦩
Good morning everyone from DD1s house in Cambridge where it’s still dark but forecast to stay dry and not too cold.
Good that you managed to rest a bit yesterday gMattie you must have needed it
We arrived safely early afternoon yesterday after a good uneventful journey. Last night we enjoyed 10th birthday celebrations for DGS, more of the same today with his party and SiLs parents arriving later too. Ooh I can just hear him getting up now so he’ll be arriving in the bedroom soon
Hope you feel a bit better soon Bellas
You sound busy too BlueSapphire , your dance classes sound good!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning all from the Black country where it is dark but dry at the moment.
Happy St Andrew's day to our Scottish grans 🏴.
Well I was at eye hospital for 2hrs having various drops and tests done, came away with a dreadful headache. Consultant wants to see me again in 3mths to do some more in depth pressure tests spaced over 2-3hrs☹ he also wants some bloods done and blood pressure monitored.
Good to see LauraNorder posting yesterday it sounded a lovely time was had with her boys.
Bellasnanna hope you feel better soon, and healing vibes to any other grans who are feeling under par.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and may you all find a little bit of ☀️.
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and damp. GrandMattie sometimes you need to recharge your battery. Brook happy birthday to the birthday boy. I hope he has a lovely day. Ash I hope your leg is ok today. Bellasnana get well soon.
Yesterday I went to the local library for new books and had a lovely chat about books with one of the assistants
I then popped up to see dd and the boys who came rushing out to get me, still in their jammies. It's always a warm welcome. Dd and I had a coffee and a chat then I headed home. I rested in the afternoon, Tesco delivery came and then Dsil arrived to take down my paint splashed curtain, faulty kitchen light and Christmas tree from the loft. All was accomplished, except the Christmas tree. He couldn't find it anywhere. It turns out, I had stored it in the boys room wardrobe 🙄. I checked the curtain which unfortunately said dry clean only so I promptly ordered new curtains from Next which arrived tomorrow. It would cost as much to get the existing curtains dry cleaned and there's no guarantee the paint will come out. That's my excuse 😊 The rest of the day, I read one of my library books and picked up another one when I went to bed later.
Today I'm meeting my usual Saturday morning friend for breakfast at the garden centre. I will get a small Christmas tree in a pot for outside the front door. The rest of the day will be devoted to housework, washing and slowly sorting Christmas decorations. I plan to make a steak casserole in the slow cooker which will do me a few meals. Then back to my books. I was only up once for painkillers in the night and it was later than the night before which is cheering. Have a good day all
Good morning from a dark but dry Black Country, where it rained overnight.
Yesterday was gloriously sunny and not too cold. The train to Worcester was packed! Wandered around the Christmas market, and bumped into Brother and SIL they live very close to Worcester. Then lunch in the Art Museum cafe.
Then home and ready to go out for a quick bite to eat, and to see a gig in our Town Hall by a band called Star Sailor. They were surprisingly good as I didn't know them too well.
I seem to have woken up with a cold, so a day in today I think.
Fingers crossed for you Monk sounds like a tiring couple of hours you went through.
Wishing you all the best day possible.
Good morning from Shropshire sunny with a high of 13.
It’s been a difficult week with unexpected health issues, plans changing and people not doing jobs when they said they would.
We are looking forward to a few days at home🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻hoping to get started with Christmas decorations and preparations.I have lists to write first!
Hoping all in pain and unwell are starting to feel better.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's not in a hurry to get light. Mild though for St Andrew's Day.
I'm hoping for a quiet day. I'll need to help set up our community café and open house which has happened each week for over 20 years. I've a cake in the oven. After that I am on duty minding the craft stalls in another community space.
There was a most successful craft fair yesterday in Edinburgh but unfortunately I have lost my purse with all it held! I have frozen 2 bank cards but I just keep hoping it will turn up.
You certainly needed a restful day gMattie 😂😇 you never cease to amaze me, you and the other busy grans.
Happy birthday celebrations to brook's DGS 🎂
Do enjoy the day if you can everyone.
Good morning all from a grey North Leicestershire.
I am really pleased that it seems warmer and dry as it is our village light switchon and our choir is singing in the pub car park where the market will be held.
Good morning from a dull but less chilly Suffolk. I forgot to charge my iPad last night so wil read your posts later when I have a black rather than red battery icon.
I thought I might finish tidying the border along the side of the house yesterday but didn’t so that’s a job for today. I always know that autumn is over when I pull up the Michelmmas daisies.
Apart from a trip to our nearest town to post our in laws card to Australia and buy a little extra birthday present for DGD4’s birthday, nothing else must be done.
GingsterI hope you’re having a great time with your son and family and all have the best day possible.
Good morning from County Durham.
Holly hunting yesterday was the hardest we've ever experienced regarding berries. We found very few, so will unfortunately need to add some artificial ones for a blast of colour to the wreaths. However, we did notice gorse bushes in bloom, very odd for this time of year in the North East.
I completed seven wreaths yesterday, that need just a little tweaking, with cones, ribbons etc. One more to go and then I'm done.
GD2 was thrilled with her chocolate fountain too. Her birthday excitement flowed like the chocolate all evening, and she became a very tired young lady when bedtime came around.
Today the decorations will come down from the loft. A good sort with possibly some decent items going off to a charity shop. The real tree will have to wait until after DD2 birthday celebration here as we won't have the space. How I love that pine scent.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Happy St. Andrew's Day to all our Scottish GMmers. (I remembered yesterday! :-) )
Happy St Andrew's Day and get well soon Bellasnana.
Morning Mick, Morning All from an overcast corner of Somerset.
Had some surprising, excellent news from our friend yesterday. A long chat with a consultant and her diagnosis has changed. Not a stroke, not a TIA rather TGA which translates as Transient Global Amnesia. After much reassurance it’s unlikely to occur again she was as you can imagine delighted if somewhat mystified. There was much relief here too.
I was pleased to have a call offering me a before Christmas appointment with the rheumatology consultant specialising in Lupus. It will be good to have his opinion.
Christmas decoration sorting here today. It feels early but with friends coming to stay for five days next weekend and a full week ahead it’s sort of now or never.
Go gently everyone. Have the best day you can.
Good morning and happy St Andrew's Day to all Scottish grans.🏴
Bella, we had our own nebuliser, (still do), is it possible to have one at home for your wee grandson?
As I've previously mentioned, it saved a lot of hospital visits and admissions. It is awful watching a child struggling to breathe.
Yesterday was a day of doing very little, I'm still out of sorts. However, not one, but two visits from my beloved Dollie kept my spirits up.
Wishing you all a very pleasant day. I've noticed Auntieflo hasn't been about, I hope she isn't struggling too much.💐
