Good Morning Sunday 1st December 2024
(47 Posts)White rabbits 🐇🐇🐇. First Sunday of Advent - Christmas is hurtling towards us!
Good morning from Bristol. It has rained off and on all night. I understand from the forecast that the temperature now is the maximum for today, downhill from now. I’m finding this yo-yo-yo-ing of temperatures rather trying.
After a very busy church coffee and chat, my afternoon was quiet. I was proud of myself refusing to help someone on Monday, saying I was too tired to take this small job on, but accepted the request for some crafty thing for the toddler group on their last meeting of the year. A colour-in Christmas card no doubt.
I had a nice little chat with DS just now. He’s in the middle of rehearsals for his school musical, “Hamilton” where he is to play Washington. Never having seen the show, I have no idea how much is involved.
We’ve had no contact for about a month, but that is normal for my offspring except for my lovely Philip who used to send me a little text most days. I miss him so much.
Church later and probably some marmalading for more cranberry and orange marmalade which is providing to be extremely popular.
Happy Sunday one and all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from south Glos, it’s raining here but quite warm too 14°)
Gosh, 1st of December, where does the time go? Rabbits and Hares 😊
Mick you really should be contacting your GP about the ongoing bowel problems, taking Loperamide isn’t going to resolve any underlying issues.
I sorted out a couple of cupboards yesterday, didn’t throw much away but at least I now know what I have in them. I also spent a couple of very relaxing hours making some felt and calico squares for practicing embroidery stitches and techniques, something I really should have done long ago. I have also found my magnifying thingy so I can get on with the small cross stitch piece I started.
A chicken roast for dinner today, there will be plenty left for other meals this week 😋
Have a peaceful day everyone 🌹
I have no idea why I typed Rabbits and Hares! 🙄🫣🤔
Good morning from Malta where the temperature has dropped to a chilly 16°C and a low of 8°C! It looks as though we are in for a wet week if the forecast is correct.
I felt rubbish all day yesterday but did manage to dust and steam mop before retreating to the sofa where I stayed for most of the day.
Still coughing and feeling yuck so I won’t be inflicting my germs on the congregation at Mass this morning. Neither will I be able to FaceTime my friend in Leicester as I can barely croak.

Have a good day folks, how have we reached December so quickly? 😱
Good morning Mike and everyone. Pinch and a Punch.
Had a good day yesterday with MissOops sorting out some cupboards where things had just been piled in after her
Mike could you try keeping a food diary? It could be that you are eating something that you have an intolerance for. An old friend I used to see had a similar Cancer to you and she was very careful to avoid certain foods. Just a thought.
GM 💐
Have a good day everyone, I hope all the poorly Grans will be feeling a bit better today.
After her move.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. White 🐇. No idea about the weather as I’m still in bed.
I spent yesterday wrapping presents and sorting out cards.
Mick, if you’re reading this, you should see your medical team. Or maybe your sister will persuade you.
Church this morning. Then I’ll do something with a half shoulder of lamb for dinner. I think I’ll make a steamed marmalade pudding and custard too.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from Cornwall where it's dry and mild. I haven't worn a coat for days. Had a lovely family meal at Pizza Express on Friday celebrating my grandson's 15th birthday (he emerged from behind his veil of hair, a miracle!) and then yesterday my granddaughter came round unexpectedly. She learnt how to do macramé and helped decorate my Christmas tree. Her dad has suddenly asked if he and I can go to church together regularly next year. Lovely. Every week in my family brings something unexpected! Today I must sort my little flat which has fallen foul of several craft projects. 😁
grandMattie 💝
Good morning from s somerset, it could well be a sunny dry day
I spent a couple of hours on the plot yesterday, installed another 100 litre water butt and sorted out a little drip from a connection. I need the water butts, we don`t have accessible water on site and I am planning ahead for old age. I had another short chat with someone I had never met, there is a lovely mixture of ages.
I want to be out again today, it is so beneficial for me. Just shed maintenance this morning, sweeping first then sloshing of preservative inside and out, until the containers are empty
Followed by whatever takes my fancy, could be pottering, knitting or a fast walk or maybe a bit of everything or nothing in particular
Have a good day
Good morning from Cambridgeshire. It feels cold but the heating has not kicked in yet.
We had a lovely guy out to look at our heating and all the problems on Friday and fingers crossed he seemed to recognise the problem and has sorted it after so many call outs.
Last night we went to our best friends son’s 40 birthday party. He is such a lovely young man and it was good to see him so happy and celebrating with all his friends and family.
Today will be a quiet one no plans except a roast dinner and hopefully finish a book that seems to be rambling on but I don’t want to abandon.
Sending best wishes to everyone. Cannot believe December has arrived! I must get my head around Christmas plans now.
Good morning Mick and all from Cheshire where the rain is beating little drums on the windows. I’m up because Orlin is snoring away too loudly.
‘Rabbits and hares’ Roses, why not, I like the sound of it.
I’m sure you miss your lovely Philip every day gMattie
No plans today. Just chilling out. Literally if these radiators don’t warm up soon.
Wishing you all a good day
🦩🦩🦩🦩
PS go to the doctors Mick, this has gone on too long. We all care about you.
Good morning from South Lanarkshire. No idea what weather is in store but it’s dry and still at the moment.
Not a lot to report so I’ll just wish you all a good Sunday.
Good morning and white rabbits (love the ‘rabbits and hares’ version 😀) from a damp and dark Yorkshire. Lovely afternoon yesterday at a Christmas Fair in a local historic house and barn. Both were beautifully decorated with natural finds from the gardens. Had to visit the tearoom of course, the warm scone was delicious. Feeling inspired so planning to forage round my garden for some bits to prettify the house. Due to trying to keep DS’s and DH’s December birthdays special our tree and decorations don’t usually go up until the week before Christmas. I love hearing about all your cooking and crafting projects - you are a creative lot! Enjoy singing the Advent hymns those who are off to church. Take care all.
Good morning all from a damp North Leicestershire.
Not a lot happening here. My choir are singing in the next village but I have opted out today. I should finish off the Christmas cards.
Good morning and Happy White Rabbits Day everyone from a still dark and damp Northampton.
Not a good outcome for us from rugby yesterday, our first home defeat in over a year, the away team getting revenge on the drubbing we gave them last time, when we won 90-0.... You win some, you lose some.
Up early this morning, trying something new today - a Cacao ceremony, whatever that is. Our yoga teacher has just qualified to lead these. Perhaps it's something like the Japanese tea ceremony. Anyway, it involves drinking hot chocolate and meditation, which I am up for.
Then it will be a quiet afternoon at home, reading the papers and tv.
Steak for dinner tonight.
Have a good Sunday everyone.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a very wet South Yorkshire - I think it’s in for the day. I am listening to lovely Christmas carols on radio 3. DS came down yesterday and we had a lovely lunch at a pub that does an amazing range of pies. Proper pot pies with a delicious suet crust lid and plenty of rich tender filling. Delicious. He went up into the loft later and brought down my Christmas tree and decorations but they can clutter up the conservatory until GS comes over to help put it up. He still likes to get involved! I have a small food shop to do today and then a quiet day is planned.
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s getting light, but as I’m still in bed I don’t know what the weather is doing. Sounds of children from downstairs so I guess Advent calendars have been found.
It’s littlest’s second birthday today, she’s growing up fast and is a real character! DD2 is having a little tea party for her this afternoon, so we’ll go round to her house later. It’s just round the corner from DD1’s house.
I’m enjoying reading all your posts about Christmas preparations, and must at least write my cards this week, hopefully I can post them myself, the postbox is only a few yards away!
Have the best day possible everyone, hope those who are feeling poorly find some improvement.
Good morning everyone from DD1s house in Cambridge where it’s just getting light and looks a bit grey
gMattie 💐
We had a really enjoyable family day yesterday, DGSs birthday party and SiLs parents came over too. DD1 cooked a delicious roast dinner for everyone in the evening and it was quite a late night. I don’t think we’ve much planned for today as it’s been a busy couple of days especially for DD1 who looks after everyone very well.
Happy Birthday to your DGD redcar 🎂
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from Shropshire.Raining at the moment.Sunshine and showers forecast today.
Yesterday was spent doing a spring clean downstairs before putting up the Christmas decorations.I love the smell of the Christmas tree🎄DD2 and family went to see mum and sent me this lovely picture of DGS1 reuniting with his Gma.They went out to a Christmas market and mum had a great time.Friday when we visited she was really unwell, it’s so up and down.Hopefully another good day today as DD2 and family are visiting.
Another quiet day today I hope.I need to start writing Christmas cards. We’ll see.
grandMattie💐
Those pies sound good Greyduster.
Hope all unwell are feeling better.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩
Still dark and looks damp but not cold, though the temperature is forecast to drop again. Church service in our village this morning and then the rest of the day with the paper and one of the many books awaiting my attention. I could retype the Christmas card labels, fewer each year and several changes to incorporate, altering them has become chaotic and it will be easier to start again.
Good morning from a grey W Kent. More present wrapping today and usual chat to DB.
Best wishes to all
Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it's dark and raining steadily.
I just checked the buckets in my living room for drips. The plasterer is due to begin in a week or so to take down the remains of the ceiling and replace it. A big job and the roof must not spring any more leaks!
Quaker meeting here today followed by lunch so I shall make soup and light the fire.
Later the friend who would like to buy my house is coming with his financial advisor to look around.
Then my next Helper is due. I hope they can help clear the sitting room ready for the plasterer!
At least my purse turned up
yesterday. I had left it at home in a
pocket.
As you see I am wrapped up in my own problems when I would far rather be anywhere else preparing for Christmas like many of you.
I hope the medicine works Mick and you can relax and enjoy your sister's visit.
Have a restful Advent Sunday everyone.
Good morning from County Durham. I haven't a clue what it's like outside but forecast is for some rain and light wind.
All the wreaths are completed and ready to go. I used a variety of evergreen foliage this year instead of just holly and am pleased with the result.
We're off to see GS4 perform this afternoon. He has the part of one of the children in Mary Poppins, his first major role. I'm so excited for him. He's quite a reserved little boy normally but becomes alive on the stage.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Morning Mick, morning All from a wet corner of Somerset. Looks as if it should be brighter later.
Other than a break for lunch in our little garden centre it was Christmas faffing day yesterday. Today there are gifts to wrap for posting, cards to finish and some financial admin. After that I may be able to see the top of the guest bed.
That’s an image to treasure susan.
Have the best day you can everyone.
