if you have one
as Friday night and all day Saturday its gonna be very windy.

Or better suggestion do everything you can early Friday and stay at home.

'Well, it ain't no use in the Garage is it?'^
That was rather a cutting comment!

agreed

First laugh of the day!
Brilliant!

Every gran should have one, seriously if you are that worried take a flask of tea and a snack and wait for a man to clear it.
Better option stay at home if you can.

If you are going down the chainsaw route please do not forget your safety goggles and/or face guard, ear defenders and safety gloves 🤣🤣🤣

RosiesMaw2 Fri 06-Dec-24 07:35:57

I love the idea of “Supergran” leaping to the rescue with my trusty chainsaw in hand but alas bring a total klutz with tools and implements I’d probably do more harm than good.
Stay safe!

The "girls" next door have a chain saw. But then they are teachers.

I’m sure there are female lumberjacks, I dont know any personally and I would not expect any on Gransnet to tackle a fallen tree.

Emma and Ed Grundy from the Archers would help if you’re anywhere near Borchesterv

Kalu Fri 06-Dec-24 08:32:02

My hedge trimmer wouldn’t cut it then. ☺️

Whilst we own a chainsaw as have lots of large trees it is locked away in an outbuilding.

And wait for a man … Aye, right

J52 Fri 06-Dec-24 10:47:06

We have two chainsaws, battery operated. However, it would be pointless keeping them in the car to cut up fallen branches!
A fallen tree would take ages to cut up, you’d need to carry all your safety gear as well and being outside in gale conditions would also put you at risk.
Ridiculous idea.

It would take a lot longer for a woman to turn up with a chainsaw to do the job

Thanks for the ear worm. I’ve now got Monty Python’s I’m a Lumberjack song echoing through my head. grin

They're called lumberjills.

DD tackled a fallen tree, it just missed her in the garden when it fell.
However, I don't think she's on Gransnet. 😯

Perhaps you might like to put this on your list for Father Christmas:

You base this on exactly what?

The same basis as this:
I would not expect any on Gransnet to tackle a fallen tree.
🤔

It's getting very dark out there, here comes the rain but no wind - yet.

Granmarderby10 Fri 06-Dec-24 14:42:42

All is calm here🙂

JamesandJon33 Fri 06-Dec-24 15:13:20

It is getting dark here in S W Wales and the trees are beginning to move. 3 o’clock the weather girl said. Not long now

Gymstagran Fri 06-Dec-24 15:21:42

It's weirdly very still here in west mids. Calm before the storm perhaps?

MrsMatt Sat 07-Dec-24 11:34:14

I have the next best thing. A son with multiple chainsaws and various cutting equipment. He's an arborist grin

Etoile2701 Sat 07-Dec-24 11:54:27

I haven't got a chainsaw ... or a car for that matter.
