if you have one
as Friday night and all day Saturday its gonna be very windy.

Or better suggestion do everything you can early Friday and stay at home.

It's windy here already.
Hope it has abated by Saturday.

No, I don't have a chainsaw but there were tree surgeons out today cutting off branches hanging over the roads.

How many people HAVE a chainsaw?
Surely driving with one in the car could be construed as carrying an offensive weapon!
Looking forward to reading about the SouthWest Chainsaw Massacre in Sunday’s papers! !

Chainsaw ! must remember to put that on my shopping list to pop in my shopping bag when I go out in high winds !

JaneJudge Thu 05-Dec-24 18:33:46

I really don't think I'm equipped to deal with fallen trees, chainsaw or no chainsaw confused

NannyJan53 Thu 05-Dec-24 18:33:57

Oh yes, I always carry a chainsaw in my car!

My OH loves going out with his after any high winds to stock up his log sheds for our wood burner.

Hopefully if this goes viral we will sell a fair few tomorrow 🤞

I am dreading these strong winds, worst will be friday night and all day saturday

Anyone with a chainsaw should have it ready.

I have done my level best to secure my inherited old shed on my new allotment, bags of ballast draped over the roof, screwed the base to concrete slabs. I put slabs inside last week but added another two today, filled the water butts to the top by hand, from a dip and fill trough

People on the west side of uk, the best of luck

Better buy a very long extension.

I've got a long journey across the Blackdown Hills in Devon to pick up DH from a station on Saturday. I've told him to continue on the train to Exeter if the winds are really bad because the country roads are dire.

If your chainsaw is the car does that mean you cut up other cars? (Read the thread title grin)

M0nica Thu 05-Dec-24 21:05:02

We have a chain saw and have had one for years. We use it for cutting trees and cutting firewood. Ours is battery powered so is throughly portable.

Jaxjacky Thu 05-Dec-24 21:05:57

No chainsaw and we lent our saw out tonight to my daughter to sort out her 🎄
We’re doomed 🥺

Sit and ride chainsaw? 🤣🤣🤣

SueDonim Thu 05-Dec-24 21:10:30

My Dh wouldn’t let me buy a chain saw from the Aisle of Weirdness in Aldi, even though I said it could come in handy. He also vetoed my desire to buy a pneumatic drill.

In these days of renewed council austerity, I’m sure both would be jolly useful tools to have! I could fix my own potholes and trim back all those overhanging branches. grin

Beechnut Thu 05-Dec-24 21:37:23

I’ve a chainsaw. It’s electric.

rubysong Thu 05-Dec-24 21:44:55

Small battery chsinsaw was my mothering Sunday present last year. I haven't used it much but DH did a good job on the laurel hedge which was out of control.
We're in SE Cornwall and it is windy already.

henetha Thu 05-Dec-24 23:24:22

Lots of trees around here. I've got an ordinary saw. Will that do?

infoman Fri 06-Dec-24 02:51:46

Thanks every one for all you replies.

Only posted because last time we had a big storm I got caught behind other motorists and the front car driver could go no further because a tree had come down across the road.
I went up to the scene to offer my help and heard some one say

"I have a chainsaw in the garage" another motorist said
"Well it ain't no use in the Garage is it?"
Keep safe every one and try do doing every thing on Friday, as both Saturday and Sunday are going to be very windy.

We have a SiL with training in the use of a chainsaw. Very useful where they live as they have a wood.
