Return to do a mixture of housework , laundry and relax .
On the health front starting to regain weight ,as the weight loss weakened me , gaining a few pounds is better for me.

Good Morning Friday 6th December 2024
(49 Posts)Good morning from a chilly Bristol. Didn’t it rain/blow yesterday?
I took the bus as usual to DD’s to join them for dinner and arrive wet through. My boots were wringing wet as was my hair. Fortunately, I was wearing a skirt, which although wet, wasn’t as unpleasant wet as trousers would have been.
Iris was very out of sorts and also seems very unhappy at school. She can’t articulate what’s wrong and I have encouraged DD to get the Y7 counsellor who is trained to try to unpick her problems.
DSiL, also very unhappy in his job, has resigned from the end of January. Echoes of DH at about the same age, my children were much of an age too.
Spanish this morning. DGD has a concert in my church with the Bristol youth choir, so Iris and DD are dining here. Food is always a problem with my DGD s as they are impossibly fussy, as well as the family being vegetarian. I’m making wraps with lots of different fillings, so she can choose.
Hope all is well for everyone. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩
Good morning from s somerset, dry until noon and then yet more rain
I am battened down and dreading the wind which starts at teatime. I am needing to be out and will be taking an exercise walk this morning, last one was a month ago. I am wondering if I can still stomp up the hill
I asked alexa for white noise last night, it was excellent, much better than talking radio, I slept better for it. That will be my go-to in future
I do want to potter this afternoon and that might mean just catching up with knitting, getting up regularly to do bits and bobs and I have a sewing room to clean
Have a good day
Good morning, Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it has been blowing a hooligh all night, so no sleep for me since three. All I could hear was a thudding noise so went downstairs to investigate but couldn’t track it down. It was a lovely starry night though. Spent the rest of the night watching tv on my iPad🤦♀️. Today I have to go and pick a package up from our local mall, and then this afternoon a volunteer session at school where I shall do my best to stay awake! Can’t see me walking there unless the wind drops.
Have the best day you can, folks
Good morning from Shropshire.Dry at the moment.
We managed to take mum out for afternoon tea and had a pleasant time. When we got back to DD’s I had a phone call to say the dr has finally confirmed a diagnosis for mum which was expected but still upsetting. We ended up bringing the children back here as their lane was starting to flood again so would be difficult to get them to school this morning.
I have had a restless night but up now as we need to get the children up and ready for school. We then plan breakfast at the garden centre.School pick up and their planned sleepover tonight.I am already looking forward to going to bed tonight🤦🏼♀️
I am sorry Iris is having such a difficult time and hope things can be sorted.
Have the best day you can everyone🦩🎄
Good morning from a wet spot in south Glos, I too got very wet yesterday just walking from the car to the surgery for my ‘Long-term condition’ review.
Then I went to art group which was lovely as usual.
Plenty of housework to do today, then I will carry on crocheting my throw, it’s one big granny square and it’s taking an hour to do one round 😵💫 I want it as an extra layer on the bed so someways to go yet!
I hope today goes well for you all 🌹
Good morning from damp South Lanarkshire. No wind as yet but yesterday was very chilly.
Our yarn group spent a couple of hours bagging and tagging our angels. They’ll be adorning the town in a couple of days.
Childminding day today, I’m hoping the rain stays off for the lunchtime school/nursery run.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Good morning from a very dark and damp S E Essex.
I am off to the gym first thing, then a quick shower and hair wash and off to school. The Imp has his first carol concert followed by Christmas crafting, with family. DD is working so I am his family
DD and I had a very successful shopping trip yesterday and are finished other than a couple of deliveries from Amazon - yippee 🎄🤶🏻🎁🎅🏻🧑🎄
Have to get up and cook the 9yr olds breakfast and get him off to school for 8am.
Have a good day 🤶🏻
Good morning everyone from a still dark but dry Northampton; sunny spells forecast.
My hairdresser did a good job yesterday, encouraging me to have slightly red highlights which will be lovely for winter. Got to the shops afterwards and got everything on my lisr, plus a few extras, including a dress (in two different sizes) from the pound shop! Shall return one of them once I have tried on.
Three dance classes this morning then should be home early afternoon and after tidying the kitchen, may put some more decorations up.
Take care everyone, and have a good day.
Good morning all. Still dark outside but I can hear rain again as forecast for Glasgow.
The thankfully, only outing yesterday was to collect a script. Luckily a parking space was available at the pharmacy door so speedily in and out. One of the staff told me she was soaked through after a short walk similarly described as yourself GM.
DD’s eldest lab had surgery on Wednesday for a torn ligament poor girl, lots of post op required and I have offered my help when needed so today I am looking forward to having GD2 and a school friend walking to mine. Coke and cake will be waiting for them before I take GD home, doing some grocery shopping for them en route.
Hoping a good day is ahead for all, especially those with worries and struggles of any description.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark with rain in the forecast
What a shame for Iris gMattie I hope some help is provided and things improve for her soon
DGD stayed over last night so it’s the school run first thing and then I’ve a volunteering session this morning. We had a lovely evening yesterday cooking together in the kitchen then an impromptu ceilidh in the lounge where she was practicing her steps for the party at school tonight 🤣
Enjoy your dance classes BlueSapphire, sounds good!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from mid Essex where it’s still dark. Thankfully the wind and rain stopped at about midnight and a dry day is forecast. Storm Darragh will hit late evening, and as I’m in the loft, no doubt it will be a noisy night. DD2 says she’ll take me to my house to pick up post etc, today, but I’ll rely on neighbours to check for damage at the weekend.
I have a list of things I need to collect from home and need more stamps for the Christmas cards, which I’m writing slowly!
Have the best day possible everyone and batten down the hatches!
Good morning all from a chilly North Leicestershire.
I had a dreadful night. Despite having a flu jab I am pretty sure that is what I have. DH started before me and seems quite a bit better today so I should survive.
Have the best day possible everyone.
Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.
I finally wrote all the cards yesterday, but still need to write letters for some of them.
I’m sorry your granddaughter is unhappy GM. Life can be so difficult.
It is the WI travelling coffee morning so I am driving at least one other person to a garden centre about half an hour away. I hope the roads are clear! We had torrential rain last night and where we’re going is quite near the river.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from Durham. It’s still dark and heavy rain is forecast with the temperature feeling below zero.
The builders are starting today - it’ll be like living in a goldfish bowl, but I’m meeting a friend for coffee this morning, then a nail appointment this afternoon. The fly in the ointment is DD2’s Little Dog - I may have to take him out with me then he’s going home at lunchtime.
Apparently the builders are here tomorrow too, hopefully to get the job finished.
Best wishes to all. X
Morning from a quiet S Hants, last evening the squalls were lashing the windows.
My stretch class yesterday was great, walking upstairs to bed I felt it in my legs.
Library, Tesco delivery and pub today, must ring and book eye tests for us both too.
I hope Iris gets some help gMattie it’s a tough transition.
🦩🦩
Morning Mick, morning All . Oir corner of Somerset is calm for now. Amber warning for 60+mph wind and torrential rain from early evening until tomorrow evening. Oh heck.
Quiet one yesterday, freezer cooking accomplished, a lot of sitting down and a call from our overburdened goddaughter. Volunteering this morning, the grocery top up planned for tomorrow will be after lunch today. Not sure what else.
One of our granddaughters needed school support at the same age grandmattie, hope it helps Iris as it did her.
Stay safe everyone. Enjoy what you can of the day.
Good morning to you all.
I had a difficult day yesterday trying to sort out some medical issues. The. new system at our doctors practice totally failed me. Not looking forward to trying to sort things today.
I also had bad news about my brother who has cancer and is very poorly now.
Our friends who were due to come to stay for a few days had to cancel as one of them has caught a tummy bug and was not fit for the drive up from Devon.
So, a couple of days to fill up, which will not be difficult. There are plenty of Christmas jobs and project to be done.
Thoughts with all who are ill or troubled in any way.
Wishing all a good day with a smile along the way
Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 4° and dry. GrandMattie I hope Iris gets the support she needs and your Dsil finds a better job. Susan I'm thinking of you all.
Yesterday I was at dgs1's school nativity. It only lasted half an hour and was just lovely. The small children did really well. Dgs1 spoke his lines clearly and confidently. I was a proud grandma. His dad managed to get time off to watch and dgs1 was so pleased to see us.
Today I'm having dgs2 for some of the day. Drop off at playgroup then pick up and keep for a while. Then I'm going to their house to look after him at teatime while Dsil takes dgs1 to swimming lesson. Dd is out on the town later. I'll struggle a bit- sore hip and knee and a dreadful night's sleep like many of you. Have a good day all
Thank you for all your sympathy.
Apart from her physical disabilities, Iris is dyslexic and has several neurodivergent symptoms. The school is excellent, but they can’t guess what the problem is without being told and/or talking to the child.
Good morning Mick and all from a 8°C damp brightening northwest coast.
Pleased with new local hairdresser yesterday, no fuss, colour and blow dry rightand reasonable. It saves me a round trip of nearly forty miles, but I will finally decide when my highlights are put in. Yesterday was just my roots.
Got in a tangle with the lights for my tree. I was hoping to leave them on as they were, but they are not working and I have new ones. Gave up and settled myself underneath my heated throw, which always sends me off to sleep.
DD is organising the family holiday to Corfu next year, five of us, she’s a good planner and nice to have something to look forward to.
Off to art group this morning, although the windy western is not appealing.
Thoughts to grandmattie, glad you are putting some weight on Mick and hope you all have a good day🌺
PS Iris is intelligent, sensitive and empathetic, it that does help her much, academically atm.
Windy weather 💨
Good morning from a dry Oxfordshire after a very wet and windy night.
Bathroom is finished Hoorah. MzOops arrives home tomorrow evening.
I might try and persuade MrOops to get the decorations out today, or I might leave it until MzOops is here, she moved a lot of my Christmas stuff out of the room she has moved into and I don’t know where any of it is, I need the Christmas cards out soon. I’d do it myself but I still have a very sore toe and I have to crawl into the eaves space to retrieve the crates of decorations.
Have a good day everyone, hope those in the path of the storm can stay warm and dry.
Good morning from a dry and brightening Yorkshire. Glad you’re improving Mick. Putting furniture etc back in place today after another bedroom and the landing/stairs were carpeted yesterday. All seems very posh - almost afraid to walk on it! Planning to write the Christmas cards and walk to the post box later. Have as nice a day as you can all. Take care.
