Good morning from a chilly but dry (so far) Black Country.

Thursday morning walk this morning. A walk around a local Country Park. There are so many different routes. Then coffee and chat at the cafe there.

An appointment this afternoon with my Building Society to review my savings.

gM I think some people are taking advantage of your good nature. You do so much, some probably take it for granted.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

I too remember my Mum in her care home and things moving from room to room and sometimes vanishing with no trace, it was sad to see. The staff did their best but Mum was in her own little world and seemed to cope with it. It is 4 years this month since I lost my Mum and lots of lovely memories ❤️ We will raise a glass to her. Mum always had a sherry at 12 mid day in her later years

Good morning from a dark and dank Yorkshire. Did a supermarket shop yesterday afternoon and made a casserole for tea but did very little else as I’ve been feeling unwell for a few days. I think it’s stress re the decluttering. It’s taking far longer than I imagined and the house is in such a mess with the contents of the 17 huge boxes spread everywhere. Stacey Solomon makes it look so easy in the warehouse! I haven’t bought any Christmas presents yet so need to get on with that. Writing the cards today - will be a relief to have that done. Sorry to hear about the rake incident after all your hard work karmalady. You did well to keep going in the circumstances grandMattie how inconvenient for you. kalu hope you feel better soon, pain is so debilitating. Thinking of everyone who is struggling today. Take care all.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Thu 12-Dec-24 07:55:37

I love the art work on your nails too Bellasnana! Are they your own with gel or are they acrylic stick ones (a friend of mine has those with in-fills every alternate appointment- expensive here at £60 per month she was telling me yesterday!).

Grammaretto Thu 12-Dec-24 07:56:40

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. I will must get out of my cosy bed!
My Helper says he keeps the heating on in his room all night! a soft Sassanach My bill will be huge but he has been a fantastic help with clearing my rooms for the plasterer starting next week.
Last night we sang Gaelic Christmas carols and a psalm in a converted church followed by mince pies and stollen.
My DD's birthday today. The year she was born was the only time I finished all the preparations in good time as she was due on 26th.
DH brought roses from the garden to the hospital. This year those same roses have been eaten by hungry deer.
Have you seen a chiropractor about your pain Kalu? Mine has helped me a lot. flowers
Wishing you all a good, trouble-free day.

Thank you Redcar and GrannyIvy.I am sorry you had to deal with the same situation but you have made me feel relieved that it’s a common occurrence.I find it really upsetting. All she has left is the few things we have taken in and when they go missing I find it difficult. When my brother went in the other day one of the other residents had mum and dad’s wedding photo by her bed😭She is safe and well cared for and as happy as the situation allows but I feel as though she is in a very expensive prison😢

Good morning from a dark and,as yet, still dry Suffolk although rain is forecast later.

I have my stretch class this morning and then I’m meeting 3 friends for our Christmas lunch together. We are meeting at a pub in Lowestoft which does good food and I shall pop into the town first and collect a couple of parcels from M&S after taking a holly wreath to place on my in-laws grave.

I used to make one in years gone by but have recently bought one from a tiny flower shop which uses only fresh greenery and no plastic decorations. I always add a few sprigs of rosemary from our bush for remembrance.

Wishing a peaceful day for all.

Good morning everyone from a very grey, damp and misty Northampton, a fine drizzle to last most of the day.

Was bitterly cold at my neighbour's funeral yesterday, many people there, and her daughters and grandchildren visibly very upset; her husband coping well greeting the many people there. It was a very simple service conducted by a celebrant, no hymns,.but lovely music and poetry. The hot drinks and food awaiting at the wake afterwards were very welcome.

Rang my friend when I got back and arranged to walk round on Sunday to deliver her Christmas present.

Out over lunchtime to a garden centre to meet dance class friends for coffee and lots of chat; may have a light lunch there.
Sainsbury's delivery between 5 and 6pm - I seem to have swapped with you, Kitty, as mine is usually in the morning!

Trusting all have a pleasant day.

Georgesgran Thu 12-Dec-24 08:04:11

Good morning from Durham. Another cool, cloudy day, but no rain forecast here.
I’m meeting my oldest friend for coffee this morning. One of her relatives rang me (out of the blue) on Sunday and broke her heart telling me how her husband had left her. I’ll have to remember everything she said to pass on.
The builder would like cash for the finished work and while I’m not too happy with that, I’ll go to the bank this afternoon and get it, so he can collect it tonight. It’s a good job and I’ve known him and his family for 40+ years.
My poorly friend had a CT scan yesterday and has been ‘referred back to clinic’. She’s to have a 24 hour ECG before her ‘oscopies’ can be rescheduled. However, her GP will see her on Tuesday to update her with the results of her first tests. It’s a worry, not helped by her DD going to pieces over it.
A bit of good news is that both my DDs saw our dentist yesterday - his final day before his early retirement and both had a chipped tooth repaired.

I feel a bit washed out to be truthful, but I’m honoured that others feel they can tell me their intimate hopes and fears.

Best wishes to all. X

Good morning all and it’s only just getting light here in Essex.

Yesterday we had our Bridge club Christmas lunch. Restaurant was lovely, lots of chat an fun and laughter but the food was dire. Large platefuls of undercooked veg and the fish overdone and mushy. There were 25 of us so I don’t think they can manage large numbers. We do have the restaurant to ourselves so can play a few games , charades etc and they open up just for us but after three years of ‘sub standard food Somewhere different next year.

My niece in the Netherlands has had her second baby. She’s a university lecturer and travels the world . Goodness knows how she manages her life.

Today I have bowls and then will pop into town for a few more small presents. Then I should be done! I wrap as I buy so not much else to do. 🙏.

Take care all.🌟

This made me smile the other day Grammaretto

Good morning from a balmy 1° on the Angus coast. My weather app tells me it's misty here but as I can even see the little fishing village 20 miles up the coast, I think the app is rather mistaken.
Bella I took was an admirer of your nails yesterday - really beautiful. Enjoy your little ones' concert.
Grandmattie a sux-year-old's hearing is never going to happen!
Your inconvenient room reminds me of the watercolour class set up by our local authority - in a room with no access to water! The upshot of that was six of us met in my conservatory for the next 20+ years!

grandMattie Thu 12-Dec-24 08:18:16

loopyloo

GM! Your nails take a bashing because you do so much work.

Sorry, but no! They have always been like that..l

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Dec-24 08:21:29

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -2° and cloudy. Kalu constant pain wears you down.💐 Susan that sounds hard.
Yesterday I managed to buy most of the Christmas presents I had still on my list. I came home and did some ironing, hoovering and washed floors. Then wrote all the remaining Christmas cards.
Today I'm going to town to the book shop for literary related presents and that will be me nearly done. I'll post the cards on the way back and then wrap some presents. My dining room is chaotic just now with boxes everywhere. I had a very restless night with various aches. Two lots of paracetamol were needed. So I'll take things easy this afternoon. Have a good day t

GrannySomerset Thu 12-Dec-24 08:28:30

Grey and cool but dry, which is a blessing after so much rain - gives the ground time to dry out a bit before the next dousing. Mince pie baking the highlight today, I think but nothing else planned. Wish I felt more energetic but find I can do very little without feeling guilty, which is worrying.

luluaugust Thu 12-Dec-24 08:28:41

Good morning from grey W Kent. Gardener arriving soon and I need to collect some prescriptions but otherwise a slow day, most of the Christmas things I need to do are done.
Kalu flowers
Bella love the nails.
All the best everyone

GrannyGravy13 Thu 12-Dec-24 08:28:59

Good morning everyone hope to grey outside but not windy yippee !

Off to the hairdressers this morning for the works full head high/low lights and a cut.

This evening we are going to an Italian restaurant for an early dinner (5pm) with DD, The Imp and 9yr old and then off to the theatre to see a pantomime (Santa’s Wish)

The Imp had a brilliant time at the Zoo yesterday, met Santa’s reindeer and all the children came home with a reindeer teddy 🦌

Take care 🤶🏻🎄

monk08 Thu 12-Dec-24 08:31:41

Good morning all from the Black country where it is dry after overnight rain.
Late today DH still sleeping his first undisturbed night in nearly 3wks constant coughing keeping him awake.
Finally put my tree up.
Present wrapping today and I need to get some more batteries forgot them yesterday.
Will read everyone's happenings after I've made me a cuppa.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans and I hope there is some improvement with the poorlies ☀️

Taichinan Thu 12-Dec-24 08:32:51

Sorry - that Post wasn't meant to happen!
Kalu a hug and flowers for you. One day at a time.
Susan I can imagine a mix-up with clothing is inevitable, but wandering photographs are not acceptable!
Kalu as Jax said, lucky it was your shed window that was broken by your fork handle ('four candles' anyone 😁) and not your nose!
Today is Thursday tai chi from which I shall sneak away quietly and early for a hair appointment followed by a quick lunch and family present exchange with my niece, followed by a visit to M&S to take back a jacket I had bought for DGD1 - DD doesn't think she'd like it. I'll be lucky to get home before dark!!.
Anyway, the sun must have risen as the clouds have turned a pretty shade of pink, so I must start dashing in search of my tail. Have good day all 🎄🎁🎶

EkwaNimitee Thu 12-Dec-24 08:34:03

Good morning Mick and everyone from Carlisle where we have a pale blue sky and pretty pink-tinged little clouds.

I have been awake since 3am, riddled with pain and stiff, nothing got me back to sleep, I didn't feel dozy till it was time to get up but couldn't stay in bed as it makes the stiffness worse. I've just now managed to get around in an upright position!

I've got a plumber due today, time unknown, I have a radiator problem. Better go, I'll get stuck into something, someone's bound to turn up in the middle of it. I'm a great believer in s*d's law!

Best wishes everyone especially all you poorlies.

hollysteers Thu 12-Dec-24 08:40:34

Good morning Mick and all from 4°C northwest coast.
Decided not to go to the usual lunchtime concert yesterday as it was a local choir I didn’t fancy. Carried on messing about with my handmade cards.

Just a quiet day. I was all set to watch “Maria” about Maria Callas, but it’s not on Netflix until next month.

Flying DD on standby at Heathrow yesterday, which means packing for either freezing weather or Barbados as she won’t know where she is going until the last moment.

Thoughts to Kalu, Blossoming Susan Ash and all with worries 🌺

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 12-Dec-24 08:41:53

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I haven’t quite got up yet!

My hairdresser gave me a good haircut yesterday and did my roots. In the evening it was the WI Christmas meal in a nearby village. The restaurant provides free transport to and from the venue. The meal was ‘ok’. The meat was delicious but the vegetables were cold! Someone said that the plates should have been hot.

Today we are buying the tree. We will put it to soak overnight and I’ll go through all the decorations. Some date from when we were first married in 1976 and lived in Seychelles!

Have a good day everyone.

I love the art work on your nails too Bellasnana! Are they your own with gel or are they acrylic stick ones (a friend of mine has those with in-fills every alternate appointment- expensive here at £60 per month she was telling me yesterday!).

Thank you ☺️. They are my own with gel polish . The little lass who does them for me paints the nail art on with tiny weeny brushes, don’t know how she does it but she’s talented and patient!

I pay €27 once a month. It’s cheaper here as is having your hair done. €10 for a wash and blow dry. Is it similar in Spain or are they pricey? If I lived in the UK I couldn’t afford it!😄

Grandmabatty Thu 12-Dec-24 08:47:56

grannygravy I'm glad The Imp made it to his trip. I hope he feels a lot better now.
