Only 10 more days to Christmas Day!
Good morning from a dark, dry Bristol.
Thank you for your kind words yesterday. I took it really quietly and did little. Regarding seeing my GP, it’s easier to get an audience with the Pope. Actually, I seem to have had an uninteresting tummy bug.
I’m glad your pain is subsiding somewhat, Ash. MD,what can I say, other than don’t do too much, look after yourself.
I got up very late, then went to church to clean - I didn’t, just swept “my” aisle. Another six or seven community events other than services are yet to take place this coming week, so it felt unnecessary to clean thoroughly .
I didn’t stay long for coffee as I had a text from the delivery company with my new food processor, mine died last week. I only had very short notice.
Nothing on today other than church this morning.
Blessed Sunday to one and all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a mild, dry, quiet Cornwall. Lorries and buses pass by later on a Sunday so my flat is peaceful. Today I'm off to Bodmin Steam Railway to join my family on a Santa Special. 🎉 Yesterday I trawled one of my favourite charity shops in another town and, amazingly, came away with nothing except a 30p key ring! 🤣

I notice that a new shop is opening in our main shopping street. It's a traditional greengrocer's and I suspect it will do a very good trade here. We already have a traditional butcher's shop that is always busy. It's so encouraging to see these small businesses thriving.

I have joined the 3am club! I woke at 2.55 and have been reading a superb book called The Golden Thread: How Fabric Changed History. It's a very well-written history of the part fabric plays in our lives.

Good morning Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but dry and feels a bit milder this morning. Last night I fell asleep reading in bed and this morning my shoulder is stiff🙄! Apart from a visit to Aldi, I have no plans for today except to do some ironing and wrap some presents.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Ashcombe Sun 15-Dec-24 06:03:34

Good morning from a milder Torbay.

I hope another quiet day will help you feel better, grandMattie.

Have a great time on the Santa Special, Mizuna!

Yesterday, I managed my first solo walk to the local shops since I came out of hospital and found myself feeling quite nervous about crossing the road. Although it was cold we had some welcome sunshine so I decided I would drive to the theatre to watch the matinee. No problem with driving and I was astonished by how much the production had improved since I last attended a rehearsal nearly two weeks ago. It was a joy to be part of the audience and to be warmly welcomed by the cast afterwards. It was almost a full house so the stage manager proudly put the sign out with the addition of the word “nearly”!

I hope to attend church this morning. Have a blessed Sunday, everyone! 🦩🎄✝️🎁🦩

Good morning, too dark to see what the weather is doing, but we had a lovely sunny day yesterday.

I wrapped the Christmas presents yesterday, it took me hours! But everything takes me longer to do this year.

Today I need to sort the freezer, too many bits and pieces in there that at some time I thought I would use but didn’t, so it has to go and free up some space.

Apart from that a nothing day, we are ready for the gutter cleaning crew tomorrow, they are going to get to the top of the conservatory and clean the twiddly bits on the top as well, that should be interesting, especially as we have the carpenter here as well, let’s hope they can get on with their work at the same time.

Pleased that you are feeling better, Mike, Mizuna, Ash and GM

Have a good Sunday everyone.

Good morning from Malta where the high is only going to reach 16°C and the low 9°C. Crazy weather, we were all roasting yesterday in 23°C.🤪

The Christmas in the Park event was actually really well done. Lots to do and the boys had a whale of a time. I enjoyed it too but wished I had worn a t-shirt as I was far too hot in long sleeves.

Having missed Mass for two weeks due to illness, I plan to go today if I can wake myself up. After which, my weekly chat with my faithful pal in Leicester.

Have a good day all.☀️

karmalady Sun 15-Dec-24 06:43:53

Good morning from s somerset, dull but hopefully no rain today

Yesterday I was out for the whole day but was hardly aching last night as the heavy work has almost finished. I did do something unfamiliar and replaced a broken perspex window. Thankfully it seems watertight. It took me longer than expected and hopefully, never again

Today, yes I am going to the plot. I have to replace a water butt and make a solid walkable entrance to my shed, it is squelchy gooey slippery dangerous clay and will be very bad when it freezes

I meet people most days, just very short chats as we all have jobs to do. I get so many offers of help, such a kind helpful community, of all ages

Have a good day

RosesandLilac Sun 15-Dec-24 06:56:34

Good morning, it’s dry here in south Glos, not too chilly either.
A poor night, I’ve succumbed to the cold that DH had a few days ago, my throat is very sore and I tossed and turned all night.
I don’t plan to do anything today other than drink plenty of fluids and look for some throat lozenges.
Grhhhh!

I hope you all have a peaceful Sunday 🌹

Jaxjacky Sun 15-Dec-24 07:34:42

Morning, I think it’s dry out here.
Welcome news of health improvements, good you got to see your baby Ashcombe!
MrJ will be off to watch grandson play football this morning, I might go to a craft fair.
Meat draw later in the local.
Have a pleasant Sunday all

Good morning from south Manchester where it’s dark and damp. The Boy Wonder has a ⚽️ match, his parents and Himself will cheer the team along. L’il Miss and I don’t like football nor being cold so I shall mind her for a couple of hours. We will play together in the warm. 😁

A later Sunday dinner today with my stepfather and a very dear couple to us all are joining us. The pub is half an hour away and has a renowned reputation for fabulous Christmas decorations so we plan a happy festive meal together. I shall have turkey as I don’t eat it often and I do actually like it!

cornergran Sun 15-Dec-24 07:39:09

Morning Mick, morning All. A grey day forecast for our corner of Somerset.

Part of the family will be here later, a buffet lunch requested, I’m looking forward to seeing them while wishing I’d had more sleep. One of those sleep and hour, awake an an hour nights. Mr C has diagnosed excitement, he could well be right!

Have the best day you can everyone. Hope Sunday is kind to us all.

Gingster Sun 15-Dec-24 07:40:13

Good morning all and I’m up and ready for both sons to come in for breakfast. They’ve had a night out with their old pals , slept over at one of them and will eat here and then make their way home. One round the corner and the other in Hertfordshire.

Yesterday the sun shone but it was cold when I dog walked. It was lovely to see a bright sky .

Dd and DGD coming for lunch and we’ll make the gingerbread house.

Take care all and have a ‘good’ day.🌟

Grandmabatty Sun 15-Dec-24 07:43:49

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently a very warm (for the season) 11° and wet. Ash I'm glad you managed to see the play. The jaunt will have done you good. Rosesandlilac poor you. Take care. I'm glad that your back has eased off Mizuna.
Yesterday I got the housework done, stripped the bed and got all the washing done too. It's been like Widow Twanky here as I had more stuff from dd to put in my tumble dryer. I wrapped some presents in the afternoon.
Today I definitely need a trip to Aldi for food. Then I'll visit mum this afternoon. In between I'll wrap more presents. I have to take it in stages because of my painful hip and now right knee which is twinging along in sympathy. I'm falling apart! I think it'll be gammon for dinner. Have a good day all.

Blossoming Sun 15-Dec-24 07:45:14

Good morning from Lancashire. It’s still dark outside, doesn’t seem frosty and there’s fog over the water. Have a peaceful Sunday everyone 🌹

brook2704 Sun 15-Dec-24 07:53:24

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s still dark but feels much milder
Good to hear you’re getting out and about Ash and feeling a bit better, so pleased you got to see the show
Nothing much planned for today but lots to keep me busy. As it’s mild I might have a wander in the garden and do a bit of tidying up, I always enjoy my time outside.
Blossoming hope you’re doing ok
grandmabatty take it easy and don’t do too much
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Liberty Sun 15-Dec-24 07:55:25

Good morning from a darker than usual and dark Suffolk. We are off to a concert at Snape Maltings at 12.30 with DS and his tribe. DGD1 is home from her first term at university so we are particularly looking forward to seeing her.

The concert is a screening of the original Snowman film with live orchestra and youth choir so should be fun. Then lunch afterwards at the pub on the edge of the Maltings complex. Not only will it be busy with concertgoers but there will be lots of other people visiting the lovely shops.

Gingster….talk of making a gingerbread house reminds me of the only time I constructed one. DGD2 was about 3,now 17 and all she wanted to do was eat the little sweets that were to go on the roof! I struggled to stop the house collapsing as the icing to Fix the sides together didn’t.

Problem solved by using at least a dozen toothpicks until it all set. I’ve bought a kit for DS’s children and one for our Bristol family when they visit later in the week but they are on their own when it comes to making them!

monk08 Sun 15-Dec-24 07:55:47

Good morning all from the Black country where it is dry, yesterday was sunny for most of the day.
Today is the children's Christmas party at the club so that will be a fun filled afternoon, I shall leave a casserole in the slow cooker for later.
Mizuna enjoy your Santa special.
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

ginny Sun 15-Dec-24 08:11:58

Good morning from N. Bucks where it is dry and not too cold.
Today I am meet with my Scrapbooking friends which is always good fun. Afterwords we are going on to a local hostelry for dinner.
Glad to hear that some of you are feeling a little fitter and wish the same for others who are poorly or in pain.
Have a pleasant Sunday everyone.

Autumncolours Sun 15-Dec-24 08:13:58

Good morning all. Milder and blustery here in Yorkshire. Finished the last of the Christmas cards yesterday. Enjoyed a sunny walk up to the post office. Seemed to spend the rest of the day making lists for this very busy coming week. Ordered lovely Christmas flowers for both my sisters from florists local to each of them so feeling I’m getting there. Good news re your weight Mick. Glad you could take time to rest yesterday grandMattie. Santa specials are always exciting Mizuna enjoy! Good to have a quiet day Greyduster, our Aldi is generally chaotic on a Sunday so hope yours is not too busy. Lovely that you could enjoy the performance Ash, the Full House pic says it all! Nice to have some peace today Oops, I always find having workmen around very stressful. Would love your yesterday’s weather Bella though I can see the unpredictability is an issue. Sounds as though you’re nearly there with the prep karma. You have my admiration for taking on and succeeding in the shed repair challenge. Sorry you feel rotten Roses hope you and all the other poorly people feel better soon.

luluaugust Sun 15-Dec-24 08:32:31

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. A quiet but busy day after a restless night. I am now in a bit of a rush to finish house decorating and packing as it looks like my cataract operation will be Friday. I also feel I need to do a lockdown with so much illness whirling around which means cancelling all sorts of things. Still needs must.
Glad you got out Ash
Best wishes.

Marydoll Sun 15-Dec-24 08:37:26

Good morning all, it is wild here in Glasgow.

I've just answered the door to the Amazon man, I got a shock, DH has gone for the papers and I couldn't work out who would be at the door at 8am on Sunday morning.
Last night, an Amazon driver tried to make a delivery during Mass, much to the amusement of the congregation. The poor man was totally bewildered.
I eventually managed to intercept him. He was looking for the presbytery, but had no idea what a presbytery was. Dollie found it absolutely hilarious.

An unexpected visit from Babydoll yesterday scuppered my day of rest. DIL was busy and baby was very unsettled, so DS thought he would come to us.
One broken glass Christmas tree later, greasy marks on walls (she stole my brioche bun) and mess everywhere, 😍 she left.
DS said he knew he had made the right decision coming, seeing how happy she was.
I needed a lie down in a dark room, I was exhausted.

I wish you all a pleasant day, whatever your plans.

GrannyIvy Sun 15-Dec-24 08:47:47

Good morning from a bright Cambridgeshire which looks to be a milder day forecast.
We enjoyed our eldest granddaughter’s dance show she smashed it on the stage. It was good spending time with DD1 and her family and we had a meal out to celebrate DD1’s 45 birthday coming up on Monday! Where have those years gone!
We then came home and dipped into the Strictly final. Lovely result 💃
Today we are doing a lights trail at our local NT property at 5 pm with the little ones. They have been fighting bugs all week such a nasty cold virus been going around here. Hoping everyone will be well enough to go🤞
Other than that a bit of R & R and a roast dinner.
Wishing a good Sunday to all 💐

Susan56 Sun 15-Dec-24 08:48:31

Good morning from Shropshire.A dull and breezy day forecast.

DGD did really well in her dancing role in the pantomime. We collected her after the show and were in McDonalds at 10.45🤪

I was woken this morning by a call from the home to say mum had had a fall or possibly a push😭She has a lot of problems but she has never fallen before. She seems ok but they will monitor her throughout the day.

Glad you are both feeling better Ash and Mattie.Lulu I agree with you about a self enforced lockdown.I am having a minor surgery hopefully soon and will be doing the same once I get a date.

I hope Marydoll had a better day yesterday.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

hollysteers Sun 15-Dec-24 08:48:50

Good morning Mick and all from a damp northwest coast.
Old pianist friend came over by train yesterday and we met up in town, after me mentioning to singer outside the station that she was nice but “too loud!”. I couldn’t even make a ‘phone call to find out where my errant admirer was. I don’t mind street music, but when it takes over a massive area, it’s just noise pollution. Grumpy old woman day…

We had a Chinese meal, on me as part of his birthday present. Mine rather glutinous, but cheap. Won’t return there even though they were very friendly and gave me a 2025 calendar.
Then to favourite second hand bookstore and added to my mountain of books. I think a mistake had been made. I paid £1 and have paid £15 for the other two books in this trilogy.

Home, sherry and listened to carols, Alexa’s choice being rubbish, we asked for Carols from Kings.
Today, present wrapping and final cards. Cards arriving from people not on my list…

Glad you made it to the production Ash and thoughts to all🌺
