Anyone else a bit baffled about the Gisele Pelicot case?

Looking back at your post and my reply, OldFrill, I think we actually agreed about the difference between the cases. Or we would have if I hadn't gone all fudgey.

I still find the Lily Phillips case baffling in the sense of why would any young woman do that to herself?

Myself & others are not comparing the tragic Gisele Pelicot case with the rampant shenanigans of some two-bit porn tart. However, it is the lowlife-type porn- tarts that warp some men's attitudes towards decent self- respecting, normal, wholesome good women & girls. It's tragic! 🤔

I think men are responsible for their own warped minds, not women.

The baffling element of this shocking story is that a husband would do this to his wife or any woman and that so many evil men took part. The poor victim is not to blame and its awful to think otherwise.

From the tidbits I've read, it appears that some of the men are bending their minds out of shape in order to avoid being sentenced for the crime of rape.

One man, allegedly, said in his defence something along the lines of "my body raped her but my mind didn't" - assuming that as he didn't intend to rape her, it isn't rape.

Others are saying they thought it was a 'game' - implying that Gisèle herself was complicit in it? One said that rape isn't rape if the husband is present - and another that a man can do what he likes with his wife .

Fortunately, her husband is quite adamant that they knew exactly what was involved, as he 'prepped' them before they went into the bedroom.

I can't remember where I read it, but apparently there is a porn site / website devoted to those with an interest in having sex with women who can't physically resist (don't remember the accurate description), and that some of these men were 'recruited' from it.

My point is that if this is the case, then these men were looking to rape a woman against her will, so I hope all their wriggling, and their weak, weezly, pathetic, self-justified, excuses are ignored.

... as for Lily Phillips - the one with 'agency' - who plans to have sex with 1000 men over a 24 hour period next month. If she had an ounce of integrity (or even sense) she would, in the light of this case which has grabbed the world's attention - cancel the event... that would be real agency.

French society is very patriarchal - hence if the husband says it's ok - well, it's ok then.

Hence there being a complete lack of the word "consent" in any French laws relating to sexual violence, or rape.

Let us hope that the judge in this case is fully aware of the implications of the case over which he is presiding. Let us hope patriarchy will not rule.

Let us hope that sentencing is commensurate with the crime.

I believe the sentencing of M. Pelicot is scheduled for tomorrow.
