Good morning all from the Black country I think the rain has stopped at last, nonstop from 7pm yesterday.
Today is shopping don't need to much we are at DiLs mums for dinner Christmas day and we are not expecting any visitors over the holidays. For many years we always had a party Christmas eve for friends and neighbours but that stopped after covid and a few of the neighbours moved to be nearer family.
Enjoy your day everyone hope there is some improvement with the poorlies ☀️

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s dry and seems mild. Lots of commuters arriving at the train station opposite for the 7:50am into Manchester Oxford Road on Platform 1. Whilst watching them I spied a plane in the distance, red tail lights winking as it was coming in to land at Manchester International airport, which is 10 miles away. Glad we aren’t on the flight path though! I do love living in the town centre from this slightly elevated position always plenty to see, people passing, buses trundling past!

I’m getting a bus myself later (thank you free travel pass) into Chorlton, 15 minutes away to have coffee and a light bite with a friend. She has a dinner to go to tonight at her golf club. Early evening I’ll be off to watch L’il Miss at her swimming lesson. A nice day all in all.

Good morning from a dark and damp Black Country.

Our Thursday group Christmas meal at our local canal side pub today. The food is very good and there is a cheery log fire, It is only a 10 minute walk there for me.

Mick losing weight whilst eating normally is not a good sign. It really is time to see your Doctor.

So sorry to hear about your DD glammagran and so annoying that she cannot have tests which may pinpoint the problem. I hope she can access help soon. So worrying for you all.

Wishing you all the best day possible.

Sorry to hear about your DD glammagran, I hope she gets the necessary tests and some appropriate treatment soon
I’m looking forward to a festive lunch out with my friend today and then later Ive to finish packing for my trip to Cambridge tomorrow. Lots of little presents to squeeze into my bag somehow.
Well done with the walking redcar, still early days
Safe travels to everyone on the move today
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning from a dry Suffolk after a rainy evening yesterday.

DD1,SiL and our 3 teenage DGC should be on their way to us from Bristol+ their 10 year old border terrier. Their plan was to leave by 7 but I’ll be surprised if that happened. SiL who is a doctor is working on Christmas Day so we are having an early celebration with them.

Our other SiL, a doctor at the opposite side of the country is working on Christmas Eve night so we won’t see DD2 or DGS2 or DGD5 either until the New Year.

I have my last stretch class of the year in just over an hour so I had better crack on,just wishing that all have a good day and don’t feel too stressed by last minutes preparations.

I’ll have a break from this friendly forum for a few days and hope to catch up with you all probably on Sunday. Hope all stay well til then and those with ill health and/ or worries feel better soon.

Good morning everyone from a wet and blustery Northampton; was pouring with rain at bedtime last night, and it's supposed to clear up later.

Had a nice lunch out at the pub with my old friend and her DH yesterday: they came back to me afterwards for coffee and I offered mince pies, but we were all too full.

Out for coffee to an ex-neighbour this morning; there will be four of us today; our little group is slowly getting smaller - two neighbours have died this year, and the others are still working, so unable to attend. The one we are going to today is a particularly good baker, so we are looking forward to her offering!

A Waitrose delivery this afternoon, hoping they have everything on the order. Will use Waitrose instead of Sainsbury's occasionally from now on, as my local Sainsbury's no longer stock the sherry I particularly like.... I have now found a good one from Waitrose.

Fish for dinner tonight, which I need to remove from the freezer and thaw in the fridge.

So sorry to read about your DD, glammagran, hope that she can find some relief soon.

Hope you all have a pleasant day.

Good morning from Polmont where it's currently 1° and dry. Feels cold though. Glammagran how worrying for you. 💐 Mizuna I like the sound of a treasure hunt. My dgss would enjoy that too.
Yesterday I had a very lengthy appointment with the practice nurse. The upshot is that my glucose levels are dangerously high although all the other tests are fine. She's changing my medication and I've to go back in a month. It's a warning to me as I have been living as though I don't have diabetes. In the afternoon I delivered the local Christmas cards so that's done. Last night was a particularly unpleasant one and I needed an extra painkiller for my legs and feet.
Today I have a hairdresser appointment at nine. Then I need to exchange a gift which is the wrong size. I half knew it was when I bought it but sometimes my brain doesn't engage! This afternoon I'm heading to Stirling to a garden centre for afternoon tea. A small group of us are meeting up and being treated by a friend. I am looking forward to it. Enjoy your day all.

Morning from S Hants, 5, were due showers and wind.
A disappointing festive lunch out with a friend yesterday at a restaurant that is usually very good.
Today, present wrapping and labelling with MrJ, bed stripping then a whiz round with the vacuum.
I hope there’s some improvement with the poorly people

Good morning everyone from mid Essex where it’s getting light. I can’t see what the weather is doing, I did hear the wind in the night, but it seems quieter now.
A good day yesterday, I had a walk outside, at least 100 yards each way, a bit breezy but I felt quite steady on my crutches. Then a friend came to see me, it was good to see him and catch up with his news. His wife has dementia, a carer was looking after her while he was out.
I still need to wrap some presents, then put them in bags and label them before I forget which bag belongs to which granddaughter! Otherwise a quiet day, it took me hours to go to sleep last night, so I need to rest.
autumncolours safe travels tomorrow, I’m not sure there is a “pretty” way round London, but hope the traffic isn’t too bad.
Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Thu 19-Dec-24 07:28:16

Good morning from Durham. Still dark and Alexa says snow flurries!!
Late night, coming home with a sack of laundry and DD2’s little dog - he has a grooming appointment later, so I’ll meet SinL half way.
A few bits to buy later but mostly a day to please myself.

I hope the unwell, bruised and battered are feeling better and on the mend.
Best wishes to all. X

GrannyGravy13 Thu 19-Dec-24 07:15:08

Morning all, I was woken around 3am by heavy rain and high winds, have been awake since 🙀

The cleaning fairies are here at 8.30am, then I shall begin to sort out fridge and freezer before food delivery at weekend and my trip to the Farm Shop.

It’s Christmas Disco’s for our four youngest GC this evening. Lots of excitement emanating from the youngest two (The Imp and his cousin) it’s their first one.

(((Hugs))) to all 🎄🤶🏻

GrannyIvy Thu 19-Dec-24 07:05:12

Good morning from Cambridgeshire. If has been a wet windy night.
My last Pilates class of the current term this morning and we are all meeting after for a coffee and mince pie.
I then need to go into Cambridge quickly to collect a parcel and hopefully will be able to park 🤞 Then just fresh food shopping to be done at some point.
Wishing everyone the best day possible, and a big hug to all those who need it. It is not an easy time of the year for many 💐

Greyduster Thu 19-Dec-24 07:01:45

Glammagran💐

Greyduster Thu 19-Dec-24 06:58:26

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark in South Yorkshire but dry, and we’re promised some sunshine. Yesterday, apart from a short foray to the retail park, I was in all day doing this and that. Cleaned the conservatory and put up the little pre-lit Christmas tree. Baked a dozen mince pies as I waited for an Amazon delivery. Then I got a message to say it had been ‘handed to the resident’ which it definitely had not. Cue much fretting and fuming. Turns out it had been left on the doorstep of a house down the road so I didn’t get it until they came home from work. Anyone could have walked off with it. Bring back proper shops, I say!
Today is the last Thursday walking group until the new year. The I will have lunch with DD and call in on my niece on the way home with presents for her and her little granddaughter.
Last night I watched ‘Salmon Fishing in the Yemen’ - a lot of tosh but it sent me to bed with a smile on my face.
Have a good day, folks.

Good morning from a damp Yorkshire. Today will be wrapping and packing ready for our long trip to Sussex tomorrow. Noticed on the BBC they are telling people not to drive in the main routes between 1pm and 6pm tomorrow, especially from the M1 round the M25 anti clockwise! Will try to find a ‘pretty’ route instead. 😀 Best wishes to all, thinking particularly of the poorly people. Take care.

kittylester Thu 19-Dec-24 06:48:22

Good morning all from a very dark North Leicestershire.

I hope it doesn't rain today as we are helping to escort the children from DD3's school to the Church for the Nativity service.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 19-Dec-24 06:42:19

Morning all from a still dark West Oxfordshire.

Yesterday’s U3A lunch was good. Today I have another U3A event. This time it’s the History of Art group. A short talk followed by mulled wine and nibbles.

The food processor saga continues. We spoke to the shop yesterday and they said they have sent another food processor via a different courier and have demanded the first one back from the first courier who seem unable to deliver it. I should get it tomorrow.

I still have a pile of presents to wrap and I hope OH will deliver the local cards today. Honestly, that’s all he has to do!

Have a good day. I do hope you’re not being taken for granted GM,

glammagran Thu 19-Dec-24 06:30:05

Good morning from what I hope will be a brighter day weather wise. I’m another member of the 3am club.

We had DGS2 on Monday who was on pretty good form. We made cupcakes in the morning whilst DH was attending a hospital appointment and in the afternoon he helped DH dig up a bush in the back garden. He is at his best when he has tasks to do. DGD3 made her parents a lovely Christmas card after school yesterday and I read the story she had made up and written herself at school, about witches which was very neat and covered a whole page of an exercise book. Lots of spelling mistakes but she’s only 6. Then she played Solitaire.

Today DGS2 is coming again with DD2 so he can help DH with an IKEA flat pack extension for the office. He was really looking forward to doing it but we ran out of time when he was here.

DD2 hasn’t seen her husband since Sunday morning. He woke up feeling really ill and he has banished her from the bedroom as it became very evident he has flu and he hasn’t left the room since as they are afraid she will catch it as she is so unwell herself. She has constant headaches, balance issues, is completely exhausted and loses all feeling in her limbs at times and is using a stick to walk on occasions. Despite these symptoms worsening over 2 years she cannot get a referral to see a neurologist as she is told it’s hormonal/migraines/whatever. We are starting to suspect MS. She did have a CT scan which didn’t show anything but think we will have to pay for her to have an MRI as she has been told she won’t get one for 18 months until she’s tried 3 lots of medication for 6 months each. Meanwhile she is trying to work 3 days a week from home. I’m really worried about her. She seems “older” than DD1 who is actually nearly 20 years older.

So sorry to hear about your husband Primrose. I do hope he makes a good recovery in time. And that your sister also does Harrigran. Hope all those with respiratory infections recover by Christmas.

Have a good day everyone.

Mizuna Thu 19-Dec-24 06:24:59

gM, I hope your rest today restores you. 💝

Bellasnana Thu 19-Dec-24 06:18:53

Good morning from Malta where it’s cloudy and the high is expected to be 16°C. Apparently we are in for some cold, wet weather over the coming days.

Yesterday was a hot, sunny day with blue skies as far as the eye could see. I wasn’t successful in finding what I wanted for the boys but think I’ve located somewhere that has what I’m looking for so another trip out today.

I’m up early as I was poised to go to look after DGS1 who had a bit of a temperature yesterday, however DD3 says he’s fine this morning so she’s taking them both to nursery, I’m glad he’s well but sorry I am not needed. I was looking forward to a day with him.

karma I regularly open the bonnet of my car to fill the screen wash but I fumble for the catch every time!

grandMattie what a busy day again, try to rest a bit or you’ll wear yourself out.🤗

Wishing you all a good day.☀️

Mizuna Thu 19-Dec-24 06:15:58

Good morning from a bracing Cornwall; strong winds and rain on my patio. Nice and fresh. Fun with the littlest grandchildren yesterday at their house. Today I'll start hiding the presents around my flat ahead of their treasure hunt at the weekend. This evening I'll pop around the corner to the cinema to watch Conclave which has some interesting reviews.

Bonnybanko Thu 19-Dec-24 06:15:04

Good morning my friends, from the east coast of Fife. It’s blooming cold this morning however, the heating has kicked in , I’ll soon be nice and cosy then I’ll get up to unlock the door for the carer who will come at 9 . I had a wonderful time at my local clubs Christmas lunch on Monday, prawn cocktail a delicious ham salad followed by trifle.

Be kind today lots of people are miserable at this time of the year. If you have plenty give some to charity

cornergran Thu 19-Dec-24 06:10:23

Morning Mick. Morning All. It’s dark and looks damp out there. Our corner of Somerset is forecast a mixed weather day. Definitely colder.

Stayed home and began dust removal yesterday, not much else. Little sleep which could be a problem as Mr C has requested we venture forth today. Choice left to me. Hmm. No idea if it’s wet.

Mick is it time to seek advice about your weight? As ever I’m exhausted reading about your day karma. You achieve so much.

I’ve an hour or so to ponder before Mr C wakes and asks where we’re going. Best get thinking.

Look after yourselves everyone. Have the best day you can.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 19-Dec-24 06:07:02

It sounds as though you need a bit of a break GM and have some ‘me’ time.

grandMattie Thu 19-Dec-24 06:03:46

Good morning from a chillier Bristol. I haven’t looked out.
Yesterday was drizzly and windy and generally unpleasant to go out in.
I wrote my only Christmas card to be posted and proceeded to the letterbox and church for morning prayer only to find it full of the local primary school for their end of term carols. I was rather annoyed.
I then went to the complex/estate coffee morning, taking two of the gingerbread houses with me for the manager’s GDs. we are not allowed to give more than a token present to her.
Rushed lunch, then went on to the church hall for the ladies’ guild meeting. I was helping serving, doing the drinks. My “assistants” arrived as the meeting started, with little savoury biscuits. We had a group of sea shanty chaps entertaining, dry loudly
After about 40 minutes, serving started. I was told very firmly that all I’d do was the drinks. Ha! My two helpers were charged with adding milk to the teas I was pouring, or making instant coffee. I can’t tell you how long it took them, how fussy people are and ungrateful…
I went home before it was all finished, ,pleading exhaustion. I rested for the rest of the day.
Today, I have sewing to do, pick leaves/foliage for flower arrangements to be done tomorrow or Saturday and try to rest a bit.
I hope the day brings a few rays of happiness to what may be a sad/difficult day for some.Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩❤️
