Nanna8 wishing you a merry christmas and a quick recovery 🎄🤧
We caught covid for the first time fairly recently . We'd always had our booster and was just 5 days away from having the latest one . We tested positive and were both pretty awful with it.
Even now , a few months later , we have been left with a persistent cough .
Oh, nanna8, I'm sorry you are unwell and will miss Christmas with your family. It is the most sensible thing to do.
And as for testing, I would say most here are not, but you can still get tests for free from the pharmacy (here in BC), so why wouldn't you want to protect others.
I still see some people wearing masks while out. Not very often, but I assume they are either carrying a virus or are compromised. Why on earth would anyone belittle someone for that!
keepingquiet. I have never tested. I did have the vaccine and then the booster so I could travel abroad. I have not had any more, nor will I. I am 67 and very healthy, thank goodness. If iI was ill, had a bad cold or cough, then I would tell whoever I was visiting or coming to my house and let them decide whether I or they should visit. no different to what I have always done. I'm sorry if that offends some people. So you are not on your own there keepingquiet.
Masks don't work and the PCR test was never intended to be used the way it is, and it is nonsense. I can't refer you to any of the many scientists who say this, and you won't find them on the 'approved' media, but search a little on Youtube if you are interested. No-one should laugh or criticise anyone, either for WEARING a mask or NOT WEARING one. This is personal choice and we are all trying to navigate our way through the minefield of what is real and what is not real. I hope you are soon better nanna8, but I wouldn't get phased by any 'test'. Plenty of Vitamin C and Vitamin D, the old honey-and-lemon routine and plenty of rest, and hopefully you'll be fine for Christmas!
6 jabs!! Honestly why? I've not had one
Yes, I remember, right from the outset when people were so ill and distressed, you were on Gransnet determined that you and your anti-vaxxer family were never going to consider anyone else, their safety or their feelings. You’re entitled to a viewpoint, but sneering and ridiculing others for their personal decisions is never a good look!
But why would you keep having vaccinations that are clearly not working
Having had every covid jab offered and will continue to do so. Of course they work Biscuitmuncher. I have lung disease which has spread so catching Covid could put an end to me and many like me. I agree with the other poster who said sneering and ridiculing others is not nice.

... hmm, either because they can't resist the urge and the opportunity to disparage someone - or they feel threatened in some way because another person is behaving differently to the way they think he / she should!
Dunno, it beats me.
I have a compromised immune system. Don't normally wear a mask unless I'm in an overcrowded and enclosed space. And it's a 'proper' one with a vent, etc. Whilst out shopping last year, a couple kept giving me 'looks' so I challenged them... "I'm wearing a mask because I'm incubating a 'flu virus and don't want to pass it on to anyone else (not true) though I could make an exception with you two"... and walked off.
They just muttered to each other, put something or other back on the shelf and headed for the check-out. And I followed them and stood behind them at the same check-out. They remained mute and kept their heads down.
If people want to hassle / intimidate me - I'll retaliate!
It has to be said though that most people don't stare or say anything - the more intelligent ones I guess.
Being vaccinated doesn't mean you can't catch it Biscuitmuncher it means if you do you're not as likely to be as badly affected.
how are you nanna8?

Thankyou. I did test often as I was shielding from Covid due to my chronic lung disease. Even though I had plenty of virus' I have still never tested postive for Covid. Maybe I'm just resistent, I don't know. Maybe I have just been lucky, or sensible, I don't know.
We are the same age and I am in good health too despite my lungs.
I am not afraid of catching colds, still wash my hands frequently, and don't get close to people who cough and sneeze, just as I would have before.
I do have my flu jab and my booster though, and take high does Vit D in the winter.
In the end it is about common sense really, and knowing the facts. I think the anxiety over Covid is still around, and that is the issue no one talks about.
I missed this thread and hope you're feeling better now, nanna8 and can enjoy a belated get together with family in the New Year.
