Good morning Mick and everyone
Just grey here in Oxfordshire
We had a lovely Christmas with the family although having lost Dad in August there were a few tears too.
Today we are off to see the Abba Voyage show with BIL and SIL which should be fun...no idea what to wear though!!
Love the teddy zip wire Susan ..makes me think of Toy Story which is a family favourite film!
Hope everyone has a good day

DD and co arrived safely yesterday and the chat level has been off the scale, though we are getting up slowly and don’t expect to see DGD1 much before lunch time. It is lovely to see them and I will enjoy the next couple of days even though it will take days to find everything which has been helpfully put away. Hope all the family reunions are as joyful.

Good morning from South Lanarkshire. Back home yesterday afternoon after a really lovely few days with family, Christmas Eve with one set which was spent eating, laughing and riotous Facebook time calls with several branches of Canadian family, was good fun.
Christmas Day mass in the tiny local chapel was a great chance to catch up with nice neighbours from the time we lived in Biggar when the children were young, I can’t quite describe it but it was good to see so many of us have weathered the storms and challenges of life and all so pleased to see each other.

Christmas Day with the rest of the children and great grandchildren was just lovely, teenagers were marvellous and not a mobile phone in sight, halleluia!

Very best wishes to all for a peaceful day.

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. It feels like a Monday to ne but as it's Friday I must remember to go to work!
I volunteer at the community store/café every week.
I disgraced myself yesterday at DD's in-laws who had invited me to lunch.
I managed to spill my glass of red wine all over their beautiful white tablecloth which had to be cleared and left to soak. DD was v embarrassed 😳
I'm now trying to organise myself and the house for
my hip operation on Tuesday.
Like you GrannyIvy I will take down the tree soon. I don't want to watch it shed all its needles while I am helpless.

Oh Marydoll I hope the day goes well.
Thinking of all those with troubles and in pain today.

A later good morning from a misty and grey morning, still at DD's in East Northants.
A lovely Boxing Day mostly, just sitting, eating and watching tv with all my family. Lots of yummy leftovers were consumed!
The family decided to take the dogs for a walk after brunch, so I had an hour or so to myself and watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
When they came back we played board games, in the middle of which I had a massive coughing fit, and needed copious glasses of water to soothe a tickly throat.

Shall be going home later this morning, and will have a quiet day and will trawl the freezer for some food. The cats return tomorrow.

Wishing everyone a.pleasant day.

good morning Mick and all GN's from a misty still day here in North Yorkshire. The mist seems to be getting thicker so dont think it will lift. I woke at about 5am with horrible cramp, and so the great plans to be up and out before the hordes , have not happened. But have got myself dressed, breakfast and list , growing longer of things I need to do , checking at bank, some ordinary shopping and get the book for Joshua ready for tomorrows meeting at Kirby Lonsdale Then need to check the car for fuel, water etc and bring my box in the house to sort out. It hasnt had a check through for ages, so will wash cutlery and plates and make sure I have everything in there, so that I am covered, whatever happens. China mugs and plates and kitchen roll, so that if I get delayed and decide to get some chinese or fish and chips on the way back I am ready with everything. I had thought of going up to Swaledale today but cold and miserable , so a bit more sorting out and then Brief Encounters is on the tv so I think ironing and watching that will be todays effort. Watched Casablanca yesterday . Hope you have a safe journey home today GrandMattie and enjoy your own bed tonight. Liberty, Casablanca and Brief Encounter and The Railway Children are films that usually appear about this time and my husband and I used to enjoy watching them. We used to be on the north west coast at one time and so we used to go to Carnforth and had fun , speaking with a Celia Johnson accent, and asking him to check my eyes etc. Wouldnt want to see them endlessly but do enjoy them occasionally. The Railway Children -for me - has to be the one with Jenny Agutter as Bobby, and the lovely Bernard Cribbins as Perks. Well wishing you all a happy and restful day today, and the pleasure of getting back to your own routines. Lovely to have visitors especially family, but there i also a pleasure in seeing your home going back to how you like it.I had my lovely lamb for christmas, enjoyed it very much and there is plenty left for cold with a jacket potato or warmed with good gravy and vegetables. So , no loads of left overs , and no one coming so I dont have any cooking that I have to do today. have a restful day everyone

A late good morning from a grey S Hants, we slept for nine hours, lovely.
Catch-up day yesterday, phone calls, a little tidying, bubble and squeak with cold meat for dinner and TV we’d missed.
MrJ bought me some primroses that need to go in and I’ll wear my new jumper, also from him, to the pub this evening.
Good luck with results corner
Love the teddy zip wire Susan 🙂

Dear Grammaretto, I know how you feel but people are very lucky indeed if a stained tablecloth is a tragedy. I’ll be thinking about you on Tuesday xx

Good morning all. A slightly milder, damp morning with grey skies in Glasgow.

I resorted to taking a sleeping pill last night in an attempt to get my body clock back on track. A full night’s sleep and I awoke feeling refreshed, ready to get on with my day for a welcome change. Some basic housework needing attention, before that though, I will pop out to our local shops for cranberry juice, cystitis to add to my list of current ailments!😫 Non Carborundum. Looking for positives, said juice will be a handy aid to swallow pain relief meds. Hairdressers late afternoon.

Poor you Marydoll A mouthful of ulcers now. How awful.
Pleased to read your sister is showing positive signs of recovery Harrigran. What a horrible time for her.
Happy 44th birthday to your DD FGT 🎂
Hoping you have a successful shopping trip Roses, treating yourself to a gift of your choice.

Have the best day possible all.

Kalu Fri 27-Dec-24 10:07:54

Grammaretto, don’t cry over spilled red wine. Accidents happen and no one died.

hollysteers Fri 27-Dec-24 10:39:41

Good morning Mick and all from a cold, damp northwest coast.
GD came here yesterday, home from university and we set off again with presents and another turkey dinner. I can’t complain on the present side, now for some thank you messages. We then watched some Tik Tok rubbish for a laugh and I fell asleep. GD still here and DD birthday tomorrow so I will start wrapping again…

Birthday greetings to FGT DD, in the same boat as me and thoughts to all🎄

Good morning all from back at home. Misty once more.

I’ve been up an hour as I was so tired yesterday evening I fell asleep in the chair, woke in the early hours, went to bed and fast asleep once more.

I’ve got my slow cooker on with gammon for later and round about my lunchtime I will have a FaceTime with my overseas family. I’m looking forward to seeing them.

Back to the top of thread now to read all your news so hope you all have a good day 🎄🍹

A rather late morning (afternoon) all from a foggy West Oxfordshire.

OH is currently driving daughter and younger son to the railway station. I am making turkey and pheasant stock and having a clear up. Two beds to remake and lots of leftovers to sort out.

Just to say we all enjoyed Gavin and Stacey - I gave it 9/10. Never a 10 as nothing is perfect.

Have a a good day everyone, especially those of you with difficulties.

Pili Fri 27-Dec-24 12:14:34

I hope everyone had a lovely time. For myself I’m glad it’s over , I just treated it as another day this year. I did cook a chicken as my dog loves chicken . It’s damp and gloomy in south wales today. I’m new to this site , I enjoy all the good morning posts , it makes me feel less alone . Thank goodness for my thom(my dog .)

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 27-Dec-24 12:43:47

Welcome Pili hope you have a better day today.

Grammaretto Fri 27-Dec-24 14:15:12

Welcome Pili! There are plenty of us who live alone.
Well you have a dog so not quite alone!

Good afternoon,

It’s been another foggy, grey day here too. Our plans to pop out for a sandwich have been put on hold and instead, had a quick lunch of soup then I’ve pottered about in the kitchen flowed by watching tv with a drink and a mince pie (my first mince pie this season).

Christmas has been pleasant but quiet. We visited family after church Christmas morning then came back to spend the rest of the day at home.

Ziplok Fri 27-Dec-24 15:10:29

Followed not flowed 😁.
