I am currently wearing a pair of thick thermal tights under a pair of jogging trousers, a long sleeved thermal underlayer, fleece and padded jacket. Am I out and about in the snow...about 3" deep ....No I am sat huddled over the gas fire!!! Mr H is similarly dressed, apart from the tights, and wearing a wooly hat as he is follicly challenged smile. Hope you are all keeping warm!!

Layers and very furry slipper boots x

Knittypamela Sun 05-Jan-25 14:00:23

I've got the heat on so just my underwear and leggings, a sweater and socks.

JaneJudge Sun 05-Jan-25 14:03:13

I some really warm comfy jersey trousers from seasalt and I've layered up and finished with a thick hand knitted cardi

My heating is working - so pants, bra, silk and cashmere vest, cashmere sweater, cord trousers, no socks, slippers.

Caleo Sun 05-Jan-25 14:10:33

Leg warmers under my joggers, VERY expandable wool socks, a woolly hat, an infinity scarf tucked into the neck of a warm jumper, a hand knitted wool cardigan off ebay.

It not that cold here today (S.Wales), my thermometer is showing 11.5 outside and 13 inside my conservatory but the central heating thermostat is showing

MissInterpreted Sun 05-Jan-25 14:11:45

Thermal leggings and socks, furry slipper boots, a jumper over a vest top, all topped off by my Oodie! That's pretty much my everyday wear right now.

62Granny Sun 05-Jan-25 14:13:32

Sorry it clicked post to soon, 🙄my central heating thermostat is showing 18.5 and is set at 20, so will click on at 3pm when the timer is set.

YES!! Whitewavemark2
There are in my blooming house! We don't put the heating on till 7.30 this evening!!! I'm currently wearing a ski jacket & 2 pairs of trousers & I'm shivering as I type. I can't wait to take out muttface, so I can jog a bit to warm-up.
Roll on Spring. 🥴

Walking the dog in the snow, double thickness hiking socks and hiking boots. Thick jogging bottoms a thermal vest and funnel neck jumper under a thicker jumper with a coat and woolly hat.
Back indoors, I’ve abandoned the hiking boots, the coat and the hat.
Once I’m ready to sit down I’ll probably add my Oodie.

Blimey! If we lived with no heating, my DH would almost certainly suffer health issues (heart) so it isn’t an option for us. The recommended optimum temperature for us at nearly 80 with health issue is 21c - that stays on from 7am through to 9pm. The house never drops below 18c.

We are also on the south coast, so probably warmer than where you live.

Babs03 Sun 05-Jan-25 14:28:04

Am wearing fleecy jogging trousers, a long sleeved tee shirt and zip up fleece.
Of course have thick socks on.

Graceless Sun 05-Jan-25 14:30:48

I can't bend down to put my socks on so I'm staying in bed.

MissInterpreted Sun 05-Jan-25 14:31:09

I'm not sure our house ever gets above 18C, even with the heating on! Just had a look and it's currently 13C.

HelterSkelter1 Sun 05-Jan-25 14:34:35

Thermal leggings, thermal socks, jogging bottoms, thermal long sleeved tee, roll neck merino sweater. Seasalt handyband round my neck over an old Millets handyband/snood. If I go out I will add another wool sweater, gloves and a warm jacket. Not quite cold enough for a hat as I don't like hats but would wear one when the temp is minus.

I have serious heart and lung issues and would probably end up in hospital, if my home was 13C.

Temperatures below 18°C can negatively impact health, including heart and lung health, sleep, and physical performance. Older people and those with long-term health problems are more vulnerable to the negative effects of cold temperatures

I'm well aware of that, but not quite sure how I'm meant to do much about it...

Well I think that ‘we’ should seize control of the heater timer and switch it on.

What joy there is in life would soon be sucked out with that level of cold.

I have on a strappy top, a thermal T shirt and a pair of thick jeans with furry bootee slippers, I’m toasty.
The heating is on from 7am to 10.30 on 20 degrees and that’s where it’s staying. If the temperature drops below freezing it stays on all night.
MrOops is holding a hot water bottle because he is still cold.
I’ve just made some Sangria with some
‘Leftover’ wine, that will soon warm him up, plus lunch will soon be cooked.

Oh my, that’s chilly!
My OH has an electric over blanket he is presently using, it doesn’t use much electric but is fleecy and toasty.
Take care 🌺

When DH was going to be discharged after sepsis before Christmas, they checked his living conditions, and warned him to keep the house temperature up - at absolute minimum 18c, but preferably 21c If possible.

J52 Sun 05-Jan-25 14:56:25

Cashmere jumper, Jean trousers and socks. We haven’t got the wood burner on, but the house is 19 degrees. We’ve been out so I’ve just boosted the CH by a degree.
Interestingly, when I got up at 3am and it was snowing, the house was 17 degrees and the heating had been off for several hours. We are well insulated.

Mollygo Sun 05-Jan-25 15:02:46

I’ve said what I’m wearing but we live at the top of a long steep hill, which enthusiastic runners train on.
Presumably as a concession to the cold, the two who have just passed, undeterred by the sleet, are wearing gilets and gloves as well as their usual leggings and tee shirts.
Oh to be younger!!!
