Good Morning Everyone ,
Its dark and its raining outside here at the moment in brackley.
Today, my usual bus trip into Bicester , I aim to get my haircut with it sort of being a normal week as to shops.
On the Health front OK, as to the Lamb Curry I was very careful as to the scotch bonnets.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a soggy Bristol. The snow had disappeared by 0900 in the rain, which barely stopped all day, becoming heavier overnight. Another wet day to come. I’m glad there’s no wind.
Today is Epiphany, the visit of the Wise Men; the twelfth day of Christmas and traditionally the day Christmas decorations come down. As I had none up, none are coming down…
I had a quiet day after church, which was not well attended due to the weather and sickness.
I finished a woolly hat for my neighbour; I hope she likes it apart from being the welsh rugby colours.
Tesco this morning and bits and pieces…
May the unwell and unhappy have a better day. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning from a wet and windy Portsmouth Travelodge where we arrived safely after a very easy journey with no hold ups!

We enjoyed a good meal at Sovereigns next door where I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a child’s roast when I requested a small portion of the Sunday roast.

Our check in time is seven at the latest so must go. Have a good week and good luck to those returning to work or school.

Good Morning

Very new so not sure how to do this. I am so pleased with myself for managing to get a hat knitting pattern right. I nearly through my knitting out of window last night, but got there in the end. My 21 year old grandson out of the blue asked me to knit a hat. I have never knitted passed scaves and headbands so a very big challange. My brother in law even helped going out of his way to Sunderland to pick up a pattern. As I am in Newcastle. Lets pray it works

Morning Mick, morning All from a seriously soggy corner of Somerset.

Quiet one yesterday, cooked a roast, carried on with the photo shrinking and caught up with some tv. Looks as if we’ve managed to find a day for a family meal to celebrate our sons birthday next month. Give me cat herding any day.

A bit of sorting and laundry this morning before blood test round two at the hospital

Safe trip ash and all on the move today, stay warm everyone still struggling with snow.

Have the best day you can everyone.

Grandmabatty Mon 06-Jan-25 06:09:55

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 2° and wet. We had no snow at all, thank goodness. Ash a safe onward journey to you both.
Yesterday the family gathered for breakfast at the garden centre to say farewell to my aunt and uncle who are off to Spain for three months. The boys were very pleased to see me and there were cuddles galore. Dgs2 is going through a phase just now where he doesn't want his dad at all and rejects his help. It's hurtful for my son in law, who looks like a big, tough, bearded Scotsman but is actually a softie. Dgs1 tries to make up for it by being extra sweet to his dad. Nevertheless it was a nice time. Later I visited mum who was chatty and cheeky. It was good to see her on form, even if it was me who was the butt of her cheekiness.
Today is back to routine with early childcare day. The difference is, I'll be dropping both boys off at school/nursery. The rest of the day is my own until pick up time. What will I do to pass the time? I intend to get stuck into the boys room which is untidy. Have a good day all

Good morning from s somerset, rain wind and cold with pops of sun

I can hear the wind howling and rain battering, and I hope there is a dry interlude, I am feeling like a blob because of staying indoors. My aim this morning is to do the circular walk, I am so thankful that there is a hill and that it is not too long a walk, as long as I walk fast

Pottering for me again today and definitely knitting. I have three UFOs on the go, socks and a warm hat have priority, they are presents

Have a good day

Bellasnana Mon 06-Jan-25 06:26:45

Good morning from Malta where the weather is much the same as yesterday, dry 17°C / 12°C.

Same here grandMattie, no decorations to take down.

Glad you had a smooth journey Ash, I hope the next leg will go just as smoothly.

Best of luck with your knitting K25K. I admire anyone who can knit or do anything creative. I’m too impatient to be any good at it.

No plans today. Might take my car for its VRT (MOT ) as my tax and insurance are due this month unfortunately. I ask myself every year if it’s worth it since I hardly use the car, but I’m not ready to part with it yet.

Wishing a good day to all.☀️

kittylester Mon 06-Jan-25 06:51:53

Good morning all from a very wet North Leicestershire.

Thank you all for the kind birthday wishes yesterday. I had a lovely day. Just dh and I apart from DS1 who popped in for half an hour. Lots of messages, card and presents though and then lunch at the restaurant in the village.

Today, I have a general check up at the GP's and then a trip to M&S.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Snowing again in South Yorkshire. It turned to rain last night and a thaw had set in, but here we are once more. My hairdresser has been kind enough to move today’s appointment to Thursday so that’s one thing I don’t have to worry about (until Thursday!). I managed to put my back out yesterday. There doesn’t have to be a reason; it just goes. I was cooking lunch for DD and the menfolk and moving around did help a bit, but I was so tired when they’d gone that I went to bed at eight and slept till half past four. I don’t think I’ll even get out of my pyjamas today as I’m not going out.
Hope you have a calm crossing, Ash and OldD.
Have the best day you can folks.

Bonnybanko Mon 06-Jan-25 06:58:43

Good morning from a nippy cold and wet day here on the east coast of Fife where it’s expected to either rain or snow all day. I’m afraid my decorations won’t be coming down today as I need a carer to do this for me. I continue to love the outdoor Christmas lights and tree lights they bring me a good feel factor it might be another week before they’re all taken down.

Have a good day my friends keep warm and safe

Redcar Mon 06-Jan-25 07:11:27

Good morning everyone from mid Essex. It’s windy, still raining and very mild, 11 degrees according to my outdoor thermometer. A disturbed night because it was so mild, but it looks like a cold day in prospect.
The snow didn’t last long yesterday, we had torrential rain for most of the day. DD1 and family called in yesterday, DSiL sorted out the printer for me after the new router and digivoice phone were installed on Thursday.
DD2 will be working from here today, it will be nice to have company, although there won’t be much chatting because she’ll be working.
My hip is feeling a bit more comfortable this morning but I’ll have another restful day today.
ash safe journey today, hope the channel isn’t too choppy!
I hope those who are suffering from the various winter viruses feel better soon.
Have the best day possible everyone.

RosesandLilac Mon 06-Jan-25 07:13:30

Good morning from a soggy hillside in south Glos where it’s still raining.
An unexciting weekend for me, not that I particularly mind, and a lot of housework to trundle through today, general tidying and laundry.
I will walk the dog first thing, that’ll wake me up!
I hope today goes well 🌹

Marydoll Mon 06-Jan-25 07:16:28

Good morning all from Glasgow, where it is 2°C and wet.

Decorations coming down today, I will be glad to see it finished. DH will have every room in chaos.

Welcome to K25K.

Safe journey to Old D and Ash and also to weeanni, who is travelling back up from Yorkshire. 🤞 it is trouble free.

Corner, a friend at church calls me the Herder of unruly cats!

Grammaretto, its good to hear you continue to make steady progress. 💐

Have a good day folks.

ginny Mon 06-Jan-25 07:31:17

Good morning from a damp and dull N. Bucks.
Nice to hear Marydoll sounding a brighter.
Some jobs. to do this morning and spicy parsnip soup to make.
This afternoon I shall make myself go to an exercise class and then a friend has asked my round for a cuppa.
This evening I’ll complete day 6 of a sketching challenge.
Wishing all a good day.

Grammaretto Mon 06-Jan-25 07:34:39

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Deep soggy snow. 1°C.
I went outside today for the first time since my op. 6 days ago. I needed to but the wheelie bin at the kerb. It felt like a major achievement. Now back in my cosy nest.
The owls were hooting.

Safe journey Ash

Hoping everyone has a good day whatever you are doing.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 06-Jan-25 07:38:48

Good morning after a very wet and windy night we are due a very cold day, the snow didn’t last long as it became very warm mid morning yesterday.

Welcome K24K good luck with the knitting.

Safe travels Ash hope you have a good time in France.

A housework day today and that’s about it, we have to stay in for a couple of large deliveries so can’t go far.

I have to ring the hospital as my MRI results haven’t come through, I suspect that they can’t find anything wrong and it might just be ‘one of those things’ anyway the Consultant has been away all over the Christmas break, hopefully I can have a chat over the phone with him rather than trek into Oxford just to be told there is nothing that can be done, meanwhile fingers crossed.

The dizziness has now worn off and I’m almost back to normal, as long as I don’t rush about, MrOops will come out with me in the car tomorrow as I’m concerned that too many head movements will trigger another episode whilst I’m driving, but I have to try to get back to normality.

Have a good day everyone, hope the poorlies have a better day.

EkwaNimitee Mon 06-Jan-25 07:44:34

Good morning Mick and everyone from a still very dark Carlisle. It's not raining or snowing...yet. I hear there's a gale forecast for the Irish Sea so it may get windy later.

You survived the scotch bonnets Mick! Well done!

It was a quiet day of pootling about and reading yesterday. Not so today as I've declared holidays are over so it's back to laundry and housework for the morning and reading those books this afternoon. l think it will also be a day of staying in due to the weather...I don't want to go out and slip on the remaining patches of snow and ice. I am developing cabin fever though and hope to get into town tomorrow.

Safe journeys to those of you who have to travel, it doesn't sound good in many places.

And have a good day everyone if you can.

luluaugust Mon 06-Jan-25 07:48:20

Good morning from a wet W Kent.
Pleased to find that I can still dish up a roast for 10 yesterday and lovely to see the family all here. I must admit they did help with the dishing up and DGD’s dismantled the Christmas tree and DS and SIL wrestled it back into its box.
Today the cleaner should be along to sort me out and then a U3A meeting.
Safe journey Ash
Welcome K24K Hope the knitting goes well, I must look out the scarf I started last year
Best wishes

Gingster Mon 06-Jan-25 07:50:24

Good morning all and the wind is howling and the rain is splattering here in Essex. Very dark still!

Grandchildren back to school /work . Theyve all had such a lovely festive break!

U3A meeting this afternoon with a speaker but I don’t think I’ll bother. More book reading and tv catching up. A little housework and hunkering down .

Safe crossing and onward journey Ash
I’m glad you went easy in the scotch bonnets Mick - I think you like to get us ladies in a tizz! 😉.

Take care all and keep dry and cosy.

Jaxjacky Mon 06-Jan-25 07:51:05

Morning from a very soggy S Hants, 5 and light rain, the ground is saturated.
Welcome K25K
Safe journey across the channel and beyond Ashcombe
Christmas came down yesterday and apart from a few chocolates hanging around, there’s no trace except I’m sure the odd pine needle will appear.
Back to the volunteer phone today after our shutdown and quiz tonight.

Ladyleftfieldlover Mon 06-Jan-25 07:53:25

Morning all from a rather wet West Oxfordshire.

Usual Monday Waitrose shop. Our cleaner is back today after her Christmas break. I may pop round to see friends.

Have a good day everyone.

brook2704 Mon 06-Jan-25 07:55:11

Good Morning everyone from Inverness where it’s minus 1° and lightly snowing, we’ve still lots of snow on the ground from last week
I’ve promised to go round to DD2s this morning to help pack away all the decorations and help with the tidying up after the school holidays. The DGC are back at school today, I’m sure they’ll find it hard to get up early!
Safe travels Ash and everyone else on the move today
Welcome K25K 👋
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Georgesgran Mon 06-Jan-25 07:58:48

Good morning from Durham. What a dreadful day yesterday, with torrential rain after the snow. Thank goodness no more snow overnight.
I’ve been awake since 5am, curtesy of my cough, so as I’ve no morning plans, I intend to stay in bed a bit longer. I’m feeling very slothful, but need to make a start on my long ‘to do’ list.
Hot chocolate later with a friend, who can’t make our usual Monday morning catch up.

Best wishes to all. X

madeleine45 Mon 06-Jan-25 07:59:42

good morning all from a very dark North Riding of Yorkshire.Cant see even the outline of the tree, so dont know if the snow has receded or got worse yet. It is quiet , no wind or noise, so I expect that means the snow still there and bitterly cold like yesterday. Stayed in all yesterday and managed to fill 3 bags of recycled stuff, left in the hall ready to go out, but too dodgy and cold to go out yet. from the bags I can see that I have made some inroads into the mess, but when I look at the lounge cant see much change!! However , hurrah and hurrah have found my prescription and so tablets set up in the box for the week and am glad to get that sorted. Today is going to be a backwards day. I was brought up to do jobs first so then what time is left is your own. But today I am going to meet a friend at 9am as she is free in the morning but not in the afternoon. so it will be great to have a coffee and catch up with news and views. Then the not so good as i have a doctors appt this pm, and not looking forward to it! My leg is not good, swollen, red and itchy, and am concerned that it may be Cellulitis again. since I had it for the first time, it keeps starting to happen again and I have to be careful. dont want another 16 days of intravenous injections! If there is time need to go to specsavers and book an appointment. They sent a reminder, but I was stuck in the hotel dealing with all the hassle of the bathroom, and so it came very low in priorities. There are also blood tests , and no doubt I shall be ticked off about the blood test or what I have eaten over christmas, and need to get back on the straight and narrow!!Ah well hopefully we get back to something like normal this week. In between all this medical stuff I am going to carry on with the sorting things out. The goal today is to put away all things stuck on the sofa, so that visitors might have somewhere to sit! An overall plan this month is to go through all my dd or so and check that I am not paying unnecessary things. I shall review things like membership of groups and see if it is worth keeping it up or not. Have my RHS membership already and hope toget to more gardens and make a plan to see the new Bridgewater Garden, so slowly getting my home back to my way . Bach before 7 and coffee and reading your missives , Ah Yes, life begins to run a bit more smoothly. Have a good day everyone and take care if you are out and about today. It is Ephifany and so I shall be singing Three Kings from Ancient Lands afar as I plod through jobs (with no wfp I colud do with the magi calling and presenting me with gold to pay my electric bill!!)
