Good Morning Everyone,
Its a dark start but a dry one but feels cold here in brackley .
Weather wise , locally very little in the way of snow settling locally , but at some point it will hit the area with a large amount .
The lamb curry is going well , the extra bite with the scotch bonnets ideal for this chilly winter .
My usual routine bus trip and hopefully see friend's.
Health front OK,
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a dry Suffolk with a little frost on some parts of the grass. I’m hoping it will clear and the lanes will be ice free as I have an appointment with a nurse at the surgery later this morning.

The fields were badly flooded at their edges yesterday as they slope down to a stream but it always surprises us have quickly they flood after heavy rain and then clear. The ground in our garden is mainly clay and yet,a few yards away,it is sandy.

Hope today is a good one for all, especially those not feeling their best.

Good morning from Cambridgeshire where it looks cold and bleak this morning but dry. The sky is very red out there!

Just been reading about the flooding in Leicestershire and Kittylesters eventful night. How awful for those flooded…. Snow was forecast earlier hours here but none that I saw.

Yesterday I spent the day doing lego with my 5 year old grandson who is grounded with chicken pox, he is a bit itchy and quieter than usual but not too unwell. I may be needed again today so I’m going to stay home and potter so I can drop and go if needed.

Take care everyone and have a good day ❄️

I'm currently sitting with two wee boys. They are eating toast and drinking warm juice while watching number blocks. Their jackets are on the radiators to get toasty before school/nursery. They're vying to see who can sit closer to me. Lots of cuddles this morning.

Marydoll Tue 07-Jan-25 08:18:30

Grandmabatty 💕 There is nothing like it.

I awaiting a GP calling me back, relief!

Gingster Tue 07-Jan-25 08:19:34

Good morning all and it’s cold but brighter here in Essex.

Yesterday Dd popped in after school drop off for a coffee and chat. No results of her PET scan yet.

Today I have Bridge Club and Dh is going to the hearing centre round the corner. I hope they can sort his hearing aids out (he never wears them) and says they’re broken 🤔. He gets deafer by the day and it’s driving us all mad! 🤬.

Keep warm 🧣

RosiesMaw2 Tue 07-Jan-25 08:23:33

Good morning from N Bucks where there is a pink light over everything. It’s been frosty and the forecast is for sunny but cold -Aha, but what about “Red sky in the morning” ?
Got to get on with all the jobs I have somehow managed to “shelve” for one excuse or another since before Christmas. Too trivial to enumerate but they have been hanging over me and if I don’t get down to them while I have the urge- it may not be there for long.
Wishing you all a pleasant day.

Good morning from Shropshire.A heavy frost overnight with sun forecast for later.

Yesterday was spent at home due to the snow and then the heavy rain which has caused local flooding yet again.

Today we are going to see mum.The journey is all main roads which are clear according to our local Facebook group.Since moving to the nursing wing, mum has rallied and is doing much better. The dr has changed her medication so we will see how that goes.

Hope Ash and olddudders are safely home in France.I feel so cross on your behalf madeleine.I hope the drs appointment goes well this afternoon.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Grammaretto Tue 07-Jan-25 08:29:26

Rosiesmaw 😂🤣😅

I know I said I was bored lying in bed all day but there are limits.

EkwaNimitee Tue 07-Jan-25 08:38:48

Good morning Mick and everyone from a very frosty Carlisle where it is currently -1°C.
I had a busy morning yesterday and cleared most of the week's necessary chores out of the way plus all the laundry. An afternoon of brain-training and reading followed.

This morning, suffering cabin fever, I would really like to get out in town, do various errands and see a bit more of my fellow humans. However, the car will need defrosting, a job I loathe. I will go and look at my shopping list and have a review.

Madeleine how absolutely infuriating, something more than a good telling off by you was required but I suppose nothing could be done unfortunately. I hope your leg is soon sorted.

Marydoll your conditions are getting even you down, I hope the docs can do something for you ASAP. My very best wishes to you.

And, everyone, do have the best possible day.

Good morning all from the Black country.
Yesterday the doctors phoned to make telephone appointment regarding my blood tests, was told at the time results would be back in a week and if I heard nothing all would be ok now I wondering what the problem is.
Housework and ironing todays delights.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans ☀️.

Good morning all. It’s cold and frosty here in South Lanarkshire.

We had a couple of friends over yesterday evening, a spur of the moment invitation by DH when he met them on a dog walk earlier. It turned out to be really enjoyable.

It’s my DD’s birthday today. She arrived a week later than her due date of Hogmanay even although I’d hosted my usual gathering in hopes that she might make an appearance. grin

I’m doing an 11-3 shift in the charity shop, I’ve realised that all day on my feet is a wee bit too much.

Thinking of all those struggling for whatever reason.

Good morning from County Durham.
A quiet day yesterday as our child care services were not required. Each family had a parent still at home. School returns today so we shall be on pick up duty once more.
I decided to sort out those lego tubs once and for all. Divided them into lots and advertised on ebay. I'm quite astonished regarding the interest, there's obviously a lot of vintage lego enthusiasts out there. The mini lego figures are sold already and lots of interest in an old pirate ship selling for spares. I'm pleased they may end up giving someone else pleasure rather than being stored under a guest bed.
Kiddies book cupboard has been sorted too. I have a pile for our local historic house to sell in their bookshop. It's a wonderful place and deserves all the help it can get as maintenance costs are so high. We're long past reading "Stick Man", "The Cat in the Hat", and numerous fairy tales. The end of an era!
Walking in the fresh air today is a must as we've spent two days now curled up inside.
Wishing all a peaceful day.

Good morning from a dry but chilly NE.
Yesterday was such a miserable day, grey and wet, so I spent the the day washing and ironing, six loads and that did not include bed and table linen.
DD is safely back in Brussels, she did encounter some delays on the trains on Sunday.
My sister remains in hospital but has made some progress, younger sister is still needing help to wash and dress one month on from her accident.
I am going to have a quiet day.
Take care in the poor weather conditions.

GrandmaC47 Tue 07-Jan-25 09:10:51

Morning from a bright but cold Co Durham. I’m still reading your posts with interest.
First day back at school for dgd, she arrived at 7.45 ready for breakfast, then walked to school only 5 minutes away.
Dh leg is still extremely swollen, I really thought after 8 days on the blood thinners it would have shown some improvement. I can’t rest worrying for him.
Hope Ash arrived safely and those with worries and health problems get some relief.

BlueSapphire Tue 07-Jan-25 09:14:05

Good morning everyone from a bright and sunny Northampton, but very cold at -1°.

Decorations now all down and packed away into their storage boxes and the house looks very bare; I left the fairy lights up on the mantle-piece and lit some candles on the hearth last night, so it still looked warm and welcoming. Just have to get all the boxes out to the garage now, which I can take my time doing. Will run the Shark over the carpets this morning as I can still see tinsel and glitter!

Out for a health and well-being walk after lunch with the group; will be good to see everyone again.

Wrap up warm and take care if out and about today.

GrannySomerset Tue 07-Jan-25 09:31:42

We have sunshine and bitter cold so it looks lovely but is treacherous under foot, so I am not going anywhere. Lovely Cleaner has not arrived so wonder if there are driving difficulties - she will let me know at some point but hope there is nothin wrong. New fire fitted yesterday and looks excellent
and will I am sure will be an asset. Hope today goes well for everyone despite the weather and that the flu and other nasties keep away.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 07-Jan-25 09:59:51

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it has snowed again in the night. Winter Wonderland II and it’s lovely to look out on as today, apart from Himself nipping into the larder, he has no plans. He’s become a very canny shopper! I put Rich Tea biscuits on the list yesterday. Sainsbury’s wanted £1.92 for a packet. He got them in Poundland for £1, same weight. As he said “it all adds up”.
Of course as I pointed out to him, me doing Dry January is saving us ££s not pennies! 😁

Beechnut Tue 07-Jan-25 09:59:59

Good morning from sunny Severnside. Quite a lot of blue sky to be seen.

Packed away my decorations yesterday and took them out to the garage. I left the boxes on the floor for the time being.
Today I’ll clean and dust and I’ve still to put away my things from the weekend.
My brother will call by this evening.

Have a good day all 💐

Jaxjacky Tue 07-Jan-25 10:02:29

A late good morning from watery sun in S Hants after the earlier frost. Voluntary phone was red hot yesterday and a colleague helped out in the afternoon, quiz was fun, de iced the car to come home.
We’re forecast snow tomorrow, I hope so, but doubt it.

Good morning from a bright and chilly Co Armagh
Got all the Christmas stuff down yesterday , go5 to find boxes for some , but most is ready to return to the top shelf of the airing cupboard
I’m sewing knitted squares together today , our club is on tomorrow and I’ll have to produce something for inspection
Have as good a day as your ailments allow ! I hope they are few

hollysteers Tue 07-Jan-25 10:08:23

Good morning Mick and all from 3°C northwest coast. Heating didn’t come on this morning as the pressure had dropped. This happens every so often since my combi boiler replacement in 2018. Never happened with my old boiler. I have to go into the outside boiler room adjoining the house and fiddle with knobs to bring the pressure up🙄

DSon left yesterday on his motorbike (wish he’d get a car…) and I started a serious sort out of Christmas decs, far too many, even some stretching back to my mother’s time.

Today first meeting of the music club this year. I ‘officially’ can’t sing until next week after my op’ so will read another poem.
Thoughts to all and particularly those with worries.

Cats, first two drawn by my granddaughter, second two by me🐈

hollysteers Tue 07-Jan-25 10:09:38

Missed fourth by me

aggie Tue 07-Jan-25 10:12:22

Wonderful drawings ! Such talent !

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 07-Jan-25 10:18:07

You’ve done a sterling job with those two wee boys Grandmabatty! All the fun you had with them, puddle jumping, making dens. You’ve helped give them a good push off from the dock towards independence. Your daughter must be so grateful for the childcare you’ve supplied with love over the years. I’m sure resilient you will settle into your new routine soon, spring is coming and of course you’ll be on hand next month for the half term holidays. Oh and you too Bellasnana! Medals for both of you and all grannies who selflessly supply regular childcare. 🥉 I’m a bit of a ‘safety net only’ gran by comparison!

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 07-Jan-25 10:23:58

Blimey hollysteers you are SO talented! Superb drawing of your cat it’s so lifelike. Plus you sing too! I think you’ve got my share of talents as I have none whatsoever!

So many grans on here with real talents for baking, gardening, ‘green gyming’, sewing, knitting, card making, crocheting, card making. I do love hearing about your skills …. As I sit her with my iPad.
