Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark but dry and cold at the moment in brackley.
Today a busy day I have my chiropodist coming this morning , which will be followed by the usual bus trip to Bicester , on top watching the weather locally for any changes which would alter things .
Health OK
take Care,
Mick

Morning Mick, morning All from a cold, frosty corner of Somerset.

Mr C’s turn for a blood test today, perhaps some lunch out before returning the replacement jacket which is too small, no half sizes in clothes sadly. Just not meant to be.

Wishing you all well. Have the best day you can.

Good morning from s somerset, cold and bright today, likely to be very slippery outside, hidden ice as it rained a lot last night

Never mind the RnR that I was going to have yesterday, thankfully I was back into normal mode ie working until noon and then knitting. My kitchen looks better too, one appliance into a cupboard and another is out. I make more veg juices during winter, the vertical juicer is out again

I put my re-bounder back into my hall, it is good when I consciously get up from knitting ie sitting. I don`t do many bounces, just enough so I can sit again. I cannot see me going for a walk while it is so cold out

Obviously an indoor day again with no plans but I know I will finish the sock I am working on and then I will get a wool wash done. I think I will also do some financial deep-diving, I am sure I have some bigger yearly bills soon

Have a good day

Good morning Mick from a lightly dusted north Wales ( not by me 😱) and we’re promised more later which may prevent a planned jolly 🤬

A friend has invited me to brunch at Tweedmill, our nearest outlet and although I’m meant to be NOT shopping for unnecessaries this year month, this maybe too much temptation for me ☹️

So many with sadnesses Susan, Crossstitchfan 💐 at the moment and others with trying times - hope the kind thoughts on this thread cheer you somewhat 🤗

RosesandLilac Thu 09-Jan-25 06:15:07

Good morning from a very icy, snowy spot in south Glos, -6° but sun is forecast today.
I took the car for its service yesterday and while it was being done I wandered around a nearby department store, coming out with two tunic jumpers. They were in the safe, they’re very soft and warm.
The drive from the village to the main road wasn’t nice, I do hope everything thaws soon. I have sewing group this afternoon and two miles on ungritted roads isn’t fun. I am very much looking forward to seeing my friends again.
Sending hugs to anyone who needs them 🌹

Good morning from Bristol. Not looked out but suspect it’s clear and very frosty as it’s quite cold indoors despite the horrible night storage heaters.
Yesterday went well.m the FAB cafe was very well attended. The AgeUK person said that ours is the best attended one in the area - there are several, including one at the same time in the next village. Very pleased about that. Arrogantly, I wonder how much my baking has to do with it? 🤣😂🤣
In the afternoon, I went to my book group in the library. We were six, most had read all or some of the book, on,y one person liked it. I hadn’t persisted as the protagonist didn’t engage me.
Today, I’ve got my regular tai chi class then am dining at DD’s, the first time I shall see them since Christmas.
I hope everyone is safe and (mostly) well and content. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Thu 09-Jan-25 06:15:58

By the way Mick it’s January now! 😊

grandMattie Thu 09-Jan-25 06:22:47

😂😂 roses. Funny how one doesn’t necessarily notice…

Ashcombe Thu 09-Jan-25 06:28:35

Good morning from a mild (9degrees!) part of La Sarthe, in contrast to the UK where it’s freezing everywhere, including in Torbay where snow closed nearby main links yesterday. (A38 and A380)

Kind thoughts to those in pain of any kind or dealing with difficulties.

Good morning, it’s another cold one here in South Lanarkshire.

Unfortunately we didn’t manage to meet up with my brother yesterday. Instead we spent a couple of hours in stationary traffic on the motorway due to an accident. Eventually when the traffic was moving we abandoned our plans and turned back thinking about the poor people involved in the crash who wouldn’t be going home.

Today DH has a hospital appointment, I’ll go with him to keep him company.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 09-Jan-25 06:41:52

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. It looks very frosty outside.

If the roads aren’t too bad OH and I will drive into the next town for a U3A talk on piers. I think it’s the AGM too.

I will type up the notes from last night’s WI committee meeting at some point.

Have a good day everyone and watch out for ice.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 09-Jan-25 06:55:44

Good morning from a cold and frosty Oxfordshire where the stars are still bright in the dark sky.

Couldn’t get an appointment at the surgery yesterday, the answerphone kicked in straight away with a message that due to ‘Winter pressures’ there were no appointments available. That was at 8am just when they opened the phone lines.
I’ll have to wait until the weather warms up then.

I must clean the conservatory today it’s been a bit of a dumping ground lately and looks a mess.

Apart from that just a bit of tidying up, the bathroom odds and ends were sorted by the Bathroom Company yesterday, I expect a large Invoice will appear.

Be careful out there, ice and flooding don’t make for good road trips, I haven’t heard the gritters around our way yet this Winter, but when it snows the farmers have to get to their fields so they clear our road as they go past. Just out of the village there is flooding.

Greyduster Thu 09-Jan-25 07:01:18

Good morning Michael and all GNs from South Yorkshire where it is minus 4 today🙄. Yesterday's trip to the hospital on the bus was reasonably uneventful except that, on the bus home, I was engrossed in a book and didn’t notice that the bus I was on was going the wrong way so I had to get off in a hurry and retrace my steps! I should look at the destinations and not just the bus numbers!!
Have the best day you can, folks and stay warm.
It’s so bloomin’ cold this morning that I doubt walking group will be going ahead - I don’t feel inclined to de-ice the car for an early start anyway. I have a hairdressing appointment this afternoon and hope the road the salon is on will be clear.

Mizuna Thu 09-Jan-25 07:04:21

Good morning from a still, mild Cornwall where there was snow on the north coast yesterday, causing great excitement 😁. I did the Wednesday school run and then sat and enjoyed my youngest grandchildren before my bus trip home.

Today a whole luscious day at home, the first for a while. Must rectify a hole in the wall where Command strips took off a chunk of plaster when I was hanging a mirror. I'll get my drill out instead. And I'll push on with the denim-jacket-making. Not looking wonderful but I won't give up. Yet. 😂

mum2three Thu 09-Jan-25 07:16:44

Absolutely freezing again in Lancashire. Can I just give a bit of advice to people during this cold weather. I've just put out our dustbins and the lids were frozen. If the lid won't open the bins can't be emptied, so use something to prize them open.

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-25 07:18:44

Good morning all from a very cold North Leicestershire.

A trip to the butcher's and Waitrose this morning and a Sainsbury's delivery this afternoon and we should be well stocked to hunkerdown.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Georgesgran Thu 09-Jan-25 07:21:56

Good morning from Durham. Another cold day, but I’m not far from the City and there’s no snow/ice and the roads are clear.

Enjoyed meeting my friend yesterday. She knows my worries and I hers. We know we can’t change things.

Meeting a friend this afternoon and we’ll discuss a holiday. Must post a birthday card and get petrol in my car.

💐Susan

Best wishes to all. X

Grandmabatty Thu 09-Jan-25 07:29:54

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently -6° and very frosty. Mattie I'm quite sure your baking has a lot to do with it! Baubles that is a shame you didn't see your brother but very sad.
Yesterday was a quiet day and I ended up doing very little. I almost felt guilty but not quite 😂. A little pottering and some washing was done.
Today I have an early chiropodist appointment at nine. I hope I can get into the car as often it freezes shut. After that, more pottering. Have a good day all.

Bellasnana Thu 09-Jan-25 07:34:54

Good morning from Malta where we expect a high of 18°C and a low of 10°C. It actually feels colder indoors than out as we don’t have central heating.

Had a visit from DD3 and the boys yesterday which was lovely. They had been to nursery and were both very cheerful and full of energy.

I’m still lounging in bed having slept too long so must get up and into the shower. I need to go to the pharmacy as well as the ATM and the corner shop.

Oops I think it’s dreadful that you have to go to such lengths to see a doctor. Here in Malta you can always see a GP whenever you need to either at the Health Centre (where it is free so you wait your turn) or in a pharmacy where you pay about €15.

Wishing a good day to all and take care in the icy weather.☀️

GrannyGravy13 Thu 09-Jan-25 07:36:40

Morning from a cold S E Essex 0°

Yesterday was rather expensive at the opticians, new prescription sun glasses and new lenses for my everyday glasses ouch £££

Today I have a pedicure, my pedi/mani routine is all out of sync as I have moved back to the salon I use for everything apart from nails for my nails once more. (Long story will not bore you)

Then a pottering afternoon, I have a yearning for ham, egg and chips for dinner so that is what we are having.

(((Hugs))) to all in need 🌸

Keep warm 🙋‍♀️

Redcar Thu 09-Jan-25 07:38:48

Good morning from a wet and cold mid Essex. The outside thermometer says it’s +1, cold enough for ice on surfaces I think. I’ll wait until the weather warms up a bit before deciding about a walk. I did have a short walk yesterday afternoon, which was invigorating.
mum2three thanks for the tip about the dustbin lids, I’ll make sure mine is dry on Friday, and maybe prop it open a bit. crossstichfan sorry you’ve had such worrying news.
Not sure what I’ll do today, the washing basket is nearly full and needs emptying, and maybe some ironing. Or maybe I’ll just read one of my new books!
Have the best day possible everyone, keep warm and take care in the snow and ice.

Susan56 Thu 09-Jan-25 07:38:54

Good morning from Shropshire.Another heavy frost overnight.

Thank you for your kind and supportive thoughts and messages. They really help.

Today will be a repeat of yesterday.Ice and floods mean we won’t be going anywhere. We will spend the morning doing household jobs and some decluttering then this afternoon will be reading/dozing.

I hope madeleine is ok.

Have the best day you can everyone🦩

Jaxjacky Thu 09-Jan-25 07:40:14

Morning from a frosty S Hants, I didn’t get to the library yesterday so will go today when the ice has gone.
Yesterday was pottering, sorting out my seeds for this years plantings and ordering new ones.
I also changed my dentist to one not so far away, travel and parking have become increasingly difficult.
🦩🦩

Grammaretto Thu 09-Jan-25 07:44:03

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Minus 7°C.
It's very dark. I had no idea what time it is, let alone the day or the month.
😂
Thanks Mick for opening up each day.

I was so occupied yesterday, I lost my duolingo streak! The district nurse changed my dressing and reassured me that the pain, swelling, itching was normal.🙄

Then a series of visitors came and told me not to go out as my path was treacherous. They found some grit and have cleared it.

I made a big pot of soup, with help
peeling veg, but my friends brought us a carry out from the community lunch. We do have a very special community in this town.

Though I was sad to read that the Food bank was broken into and robbed over the NY holiday.

I hope you can rearrange your trip Baubles once the weather improves. 2 hours in a motorway queue sounds grim.

Hope everyone finds some joy today.

harrigran Thu 09-Jan-25 07:50:52

Good morning from a frosty NE where it is -2.
SIL came yesterday and we did a grocery shop.
After lunch he tried to replace my doorbell which has stopped working but no joy so he is going to order another one.
Decorations are stowed in the attic and house is more or less back to normal.
We did a little research into holiday cottages, we are thinking about a May holiday and celebrating my birthday in the countryside.
My sister is now having physiotherapy and feels confident she will be going home to her flat after a month in hospital, I am not sure she will cope on the second floor without a lift.
Have a good day and take care where is is icy.
